💝Phoenix POV💝
“I’ve not been okay without you Pheonix, I think I’m in love with you or maybe am not… But I was so worried that I wouldn’t see you again”….
What he said keep repeating in my head. Did he just say he’s in love with me? I mean how did that even happen?
And he’ll be expecting me to answer him but what should I say? Should I say I love him too? God this is just too much and there is Casper lying lifeless on the ground and to t©p it all I wasn’t freaked out maybe I was a little bit but I’m also shocked I didn’t scream or yell at a lifeless b©dy lying some metres away from me. Maybe because I feel he deserves whatever he’s got but death? This is just too much for me to handle.

“I…. ”
His phone start to ring and he picked it at the third ring then put the call on hands free which enables me to hear what the other person is saying.

📱There’s a problem boss.
Cephar looked at me before speaking into the phone.

📱What problem? Did anything happen to Elena?

📱No boss but something bigger. The police were able to locate our warehouse and they’re on their way to where you are now. You have to escape boss.
The call got disconnected and Cephar gr-ab my wrist.

“We have to go. ” He said and led me out of the be-droom and I freed my wrist from his grib.

“You can’t keep running forever Cephar. ” Cephar, it sounds….. Well I don’t know and I can’t think of that right now.

“What are you talking about? I can’t let the police catch me and Casper is lying there dead. ” He said.

“Because you killed him! ” I yell at him.
He looked at me like he was going to cry😭
I place my both hands on my mouth and g@sp
What have I done?
Why did I have to say that?
He was only trying to save me from a monster like Casper,
Everything he did was because of me
If only I wasn’t kidnapped and he doesn’t have to worry about me then Casper won’t be dead.
This is all my fault!
I murdered a human being
I killed a man in cold blood!

I feel tears rolling down my cheeks and I angrily wipe it off.

“Why am I crying? All I do is cry and I hate myself for that! Can’t I do anything other than crying? I’m tired of crying. ” I said wiping my face in anger and he held my both hands. The second he held my hands I felt safe that instance like he shouldn’t let go.

“It’s not your fault. You’re right I killed him and I should be responsible for my actions. ” He said looking into my eyes.

“And I don’t want people defending me. It’s because of me you killed him. I should pay for my crimes. ” I said and he hvgged me then I heard the opening of the door and an angry voice followed and I don’t nee-d a soothsayer to tell me that those are the police.

“They’re here. ” He whispered to me and one officer pas-sed us to the room we were coming from. He’s going to see that bastard’s b©dy.

“plea-se don’t go. ” I begged him. Why am I begging him when I was the one that instruct him to surrender. Why is my life just meaningless and all I’ve been doing is out the people I love into danger.
My parents died because of me.
Elena almost died because of me
And now Cephar is going to jail because of me.

“We have to take you. ” I heard another voice and I don’t want to believe he was the one they’re talking to.

“I love you okay. ” He said before dis engaging from the hvg and my eyes are alre-ady full with tears.

“I love you too. ” I said after him and watch as the police took him away.
I can’t let him suffer alone. I’m the cause of this and I have to do the right thing by him.

Few days after his arrest I went to pay him a visit at the police station and it was a good thing because they allowed me to bring some food for him.

“Thank you. ” He said.
I bet coming here really changed Cephar because now he’s more calm but looked miserable
He has lost his wealth business all because of me.

“It’s nothing. I thought they might not be giving you good food here and it was I and Elena who prepared it. ” I said smiling.

“plea-se you have to promise me that you won’t bring Elena here to visit me. I don’t want her to see me like this. She might be blaming herself just like you. ” He said and I nod my head as a yes. He’s right, Elena shouldn’t be expo-sed to things like this.

“I want to help you out of here Cephar but I don’t know how to. Evidence points out to you that you’re the one that sh0t Casper. ” I said and he scratch his head.

“I talked with my lawyer yesterday and he said there’s a way I can be free. ” He said and I sit up because truly he’s freedom is my only priority right now.

“And how is that? ” I asked

“Emily. Emily is the only one that can help me out of here. ” He said and I went back to my normal position because I don’t get how Emily who has been gone for weeks can help him. She was someone I used to love but after learning from Cephar that she was snitch working for Casper I developed a special hatred for her.

“How can she be of help? ” I ask him.

“If she can testify that I acted out of protec-tion. That he wanted killing you and that’s why I sh0t him. That’s the only way. ” He said.

“But I can do that. I mean I’m the victim. You killed him because you were protecting me from him. He would have killed me if you hadn’t done something. ” I said getting angry that Emily will come and save him when I’m supposed to be the one.

He exhale and cu-p up my face.

“That is the truth but the police won’t buy that until one of Casper’s intern testify against him. That’s the only way Phoenix and we have to take it. ” He said and I exhale.

“I hate to say this but where the hell is Emily because she has disappeared. “I said.

” You’ll have to look for her and convince her to come here. I really nee-d your help Phoenix. ”
I smile at the sound of that. He nee-ds my help.

PHOENIX’S POV💓

I left the station,I Headed back to the mansion,I could feel all gaze on me but I don’t care.
I took Elena to the penthouse and called in ine if Cephar’s men,his name was john.

“John,how are you” I asked in a hoarse tone

“Am fine ma” he said with his head bowed

“Look up and listen to me” and he did “Am in charge of everything Cephar owns I mean all, so you would be my right hand now,I don’t want anyone interfering in Cephar’s propeties and right now you’re the only one I can trust okay??”

“Yes ma”

“I don’t know anything at all but you can put me throu-gh right” I asked

“Yes ma”

“OK sit down and explain everything to me”I said in a husky voice.

He sat near me and showed me Cephar’s office, I took my time to study the office and all the files.
All ownersh!pevidences of Cephar’s properties were kept in a safer place. I had maids do the cleaning and renovation of the office.

By the time I was throu-gh I was tired but I nee-d to act strong. John c@m£ in and sat near me.

“ma I s£nt the spy and he will give us feed back within few hours,I think he might find Sir’s cousin ”

“That’s good”I said “well I want every men you have searching the whole district for her cause she’s my only hope to bring him back,can they do that??’ I asked tansely

“ma I they can do absolutely that but I don’t trust all of them”

“Yes you’re right there might be a traitor in their midst,do what you can John I’m counting on you”I replied

“well we should keep guards that have been with Cephar for years and each the remaining” he advised..

“That’s a nice idea” Call me all the guards plus the maids” I commanded

“OK ma” he blurted and left.

I went into Cephar’s room and search for some things I could find so as to know how to handle his property, when I found none I showered and dressed up.

I picked up a gun and tuck it in my pocket,I wanted to be afraid but on a second thought I am doing it for Cephar. I checked on Elena and she was fast asleep.

I proceeded to my be-d and after a good shower I stretched myself up on Cephar’s hvge be-d and curled myself up in a ball like an Armadillo with the gun by my side…

The be-d still smells of him..

His manly smell..

Right now I am so scared to the point where I can’t sleep anymore without him by my side..

I want him back..

I want my Cephar back..

The Next Morning🌼

“Good morning everyone”

“Good day ma” They all replied

I scanned All of them and I saw a maid throwing glares at me,I wondered why she was looking so nervous and why she was shivering with something clearly in her hand…

“Well I am here to announce you all will be granted a leave until the boss is back from prison”

“But ma” That maid wanted to speak but I held my hands up to silence her..

“Mira plea-se can I have a word with you??”..I asked Cephar’s oldest maid..

“ma’am Mira you are the only maid I am reserving for this mansion,the rest can go I don’t really want them to stay” I said and they all left quietly,I turned back to the lady.

“Can you plea-se follow that maid who’s acting nervous and find out what’s wrong with her I don’t really trust her”

‘Yes ma’am’..She replied and I smiled..

I want to be my normal self again but right now all I have to be is the strong woman Cephar nee-ds right now..

He nee-ds me now and I certainly can’t fail him…

“I don’t want snyone in this mansion”I blurted out “You are all dismissed until further notice” I said and walked back to the sofa. John smiled at me..

“I never knew you were this br@ve,Boss will be so proud”he replied

“Well now is not the time to feed my ego John plea-se tell me you have something on Cephar”I begged and just then another guard ran in

“What’s the problem??”

“We…We found her” He p@n-ted heavily and I rose to my feet immediately..

“You found who?? Emily??’..

‘Yes ma’am,she was sp©tted in a club in China Town and—

“Not another word just get the car re-ady” I interrupted quic-kly..

“Ma’am??”

“You heard me right,let’s go get this bit-ch”
