Paisley barged inside the room noisily, she flung her handbag to the chair carelessly and rou-ghed her hair in anger.
“How dare he?! fuc-k !” She shouted.
She undressed herself and walked to the bathroom, staring at her nak-ed self in the mirror.
“Shameless? Slutty? Urgh!” She scoffed.
Her phone rang from the room and she rolled her eyes, going under the shower. She had a short bath and returned to the room with a towel around her body.
She picked her phone and saw a missed call. She clic-ked on the message box and realized that she received a message from Mrs. Brown, Melanie’s Mother.
★ PAISLEY HONEY, WHY AREN’T YOU PICKING YOUR CALLS? IS EVERYTHING OKAY WITH YOU? AND, WHEN ARE YOU GONNA COME OVER WITH MELANIE? ★
“Aunt called?” She mumbled slowly.
She made to call her back but suddenly changed her mind. She dropped her phone on the bed and went to her small closet to dress up.

MELANIE’S APARTMENT***
Melanie sat in the living room with her friends, watching a movie. The light was dimmed and the only light reflecting in the house was the one emanating from the television.
A bowl of popcorn could be seen on the couch between them and there were gla-sses of milk on the table.
“I really don’t support a girl undergoing plastic surgery just because she’s ugly” Lauren shook her head, her gaze glued to the TV.
“Same here. It’s totally bad, I mean is she gonna be happy that way?” Julie muttered.
“Knowing totally well that she has another person’s face on hers, I bet she won’t” Lauren added.
“Well, we can’t blame her. She wasn’t happy with that face of hers, and the only option she had was to get a surgery done. We really can’t blame her” Melanie said.
Lauren sighed.
“Let’s change this movie, it’s getting tense around here” she suggested.
“Let’s just play a game,” Julie suddenly said.
“Game? I’m in” Melanie said excitedly.
“I’m hungry” Lauren pouts, rubbing her stomach.
Julie chuckled.
“Always hungry, foodie,” she said.
“Are you gonna tell me you’re ain’t hungry too?” Lauren raised a brow.
“Well…” Julie itched her head.
Melanie giggled.
“So, what should we do now?” She asked.
“Let’s cook!” Lauren screamed.
“Hey, keep your voice low, okay? I don’t stay alone” Melanie mumbled.
“I bet your roomie wouldn’t even mind” Lauren muttered.
“So, shall we?” She stood up from the couch.
“We shall!” Julie stood too.
Melanie stood up and they all walked to the kitchen.
They prepared dinner, it was fun for them as they couldn’t stop talking, especially Lauren. She wouldn’t stop talking for once.
They set the food on the table and they all sat around it.
“This looks so delicious, can’t wait to dig in” Melanie lic-ked her li-ps.
“Did you guys fail to notice something is missing?” Julie suddenly asked.
“What?”
“Beer! Let’s get wasted tonight!” Julie screamed.
“Yippee!!!” Melanie and Lauren rushed to the kitchen at once, leaving Julie alone in the living room.

AXEL’S ROOM***
Axel dropped his phone to his side with an annoying gro-an.
“Can’t they just stop shouting?” He mumbled, de-eply annoyed
He stood up and walked to the living room.
Immediately he stepped out of his room, his eyes landed on Julie’s who was also staring back at him.
Julie quickly stood up and flashed a smile to him.
“Hey,” she mumbled
Axel simply nodded.
“Are we disturbing you?” She asked.
“Yes, and I’d like it if you guys can keep your voice low,” Axel said.
“We will, sorry for the disturbance” Julie muttered.
Axel went back to his room.
Julie sat down with a loud gro-an and touched her chest.
“fuc-k , he’s just so handsome” she smiled.
Melanie and Julie returned with the beer, they placed it on the table and started eating, chatting noisily as they did so.

SOME MINUTES LATER***
Melanie laid on the floor, half asleep. She was dead drunk with her friends.
Lauren already pa-ssed out from the drink.
“Should we drink more?” Melanie slurred drunkenly.
“You’re drunk enough as it is,” Julie giggled.
“I wanna fly! I wanna fly!!” Melanie suddenly started singing.
“I believe I can fly,” she stood up and staggered on the table.
“Gosh, I’m so drunk,” she giggled.
Julie rubbed her face with her hands, trying to clear the alcohol from her face.
“It ain’t working,” she stood up and at that time Axel came out of his room too. He was on his hoodie.
“I wanna fly! I wanna fly!” Melanie continued singing.
Axel’s eyes wide-ned a bit when he saw the empty bottles on the table. He looked around and found Lauren de-eply asleep already.
“What the fuc-k !” He moved closer.
“Axel, can you help? I really can’t handle them alone,” Julie muttered when he got closer.
“Then why bother drinking when you can’t control it?” Axel snapped.
He walked to Melanie who was still staggering, she landed on his chest and his hand held her wa-istprotectively.
“Stay still, Mel,” he muttered gently.
Melanie stared up at him and grinned foolishly.
“It’s my a-ssa-ssin, the hot stranger” she rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes.
“Hmm, so ha-rd like a rock” she mo-an-ed, slowly drifting to slumber.
“Wait… What?” Axel stared at her in shock.
“She is wasted already,” Julie said.
“You’re not excluded,” Axel muttered. He pulled Melanie to him tighter and glanced at Lauren’s sleeping figure on the floor.
“Can you help her to the room?” He asked Julie.
“Huh, yea…” Julie bit her li-ps.
“Good,” Axel swooped Melanie into his arms and headed to her room.
Julie scoffed and shook her head, trying to keep her eyes open.
“How could he help Melanie alone, I also need his help too,” she mumbled.
She walked to Lauren and tapped her gently.
“Mom, leave me. I’m an adult now, you don’t have to wake me all the time,” Lauren snapped, throwing her hands away.
Julie took in a sharp intake of breath, trying to calm herself down.
“Lauren, it’s me Julie. Let’s go, Hun?”
She helped Lauren to her feet and they both stumbled, falling to the ground together.
“Urgh!!!” Julie gro-aned.

Axel helped Melanie to the bed and covered her with the quilt, he brushed a strand of hair from her face and smiled softly, staring at her innocent face.
“Why bother drinking when you’re intolerant to alcohol?” He mumbled.
Melanie opened her sleepy eyes and clic-ked her tongues cutely when she saw him.
“Can you stop smoking? I hate guys who smoke,” she mumbled sleepily.
“I don’t wanna hate you, so quit it please,” her eyes closed and she slept off immediately.
“She hates guys that smoke?” Axel wondered, still staring at her.
He quickly stood straight when he heard the sounds of footsteps inching closer to the room.
Julie entered and he quickly collected Lauren from her. He placed her on the bed beside Melanie and turned to leave.
“Thank you,” Julie said after him.
Axel never said a word till he left the room.
Julie sighed and laid on the bed too, the bed was big enough for the three of them.
She covered herself with the duvet and hug-ged her body to herself
“He’s just so cold. Can he ever notice her?” Those were the thoughts swimming in her head till she slept off.

THE NEXT DAY***
Melanie gro-aned sleepily and snatched her eyes open, she shut it back when the beam of sunlight hit her face.
“Gosh,” she mumbled, opening her eyes again.
She sat up when she realized Lauren and Julie were nowhere to be seen.
Her eyes went to the wall clock and she gasped.
“9:00 clock?!” She got down from the bed and almost immediately there was a knock on the door.
“It’s Axel, can I come in?” Axel asked.
“Axel?” She quickly arranged her messy hair and cleaned her face with her hands.
“Why now? I look so messy,” she complained, still arranging her hair.
“Mel?”
“Come in,” she half yelled.
She stared in surprise when Axel entered with a tray in his hand. He was looking so dashing and hot.
“Are you gonna keep standing there?” He asked.
“Huh?”
Axel shook his head and took the short steps till he got to her.
“Here. I made a hangover soup for you, you were wasted last night” he said.
“You made this for me even when I poured the last one away?” Melanie asked slowly.
“You can pour this away too, then I’ll stop caring about you,” Axel said.
“You’re a nice guy after all,” Melanie smiled and took the tray from him.
She gulped down the soup at once and placed the plates on the tray.
“Thank you,” she smiled.
“Erm, what about Julie and Paisley?”
“They left” Axel said and walked to the door.
“By the way, you look beautiful even when you’re just waking up,” he smiled and left.
Melanie’s cheeks flushed crimson red and she quickly covered it with her hands
“I look beautiful?” She rushed to the mirror and posed, staring at herself.
“I shouldn’t be doing this,” she shook her head and went to the bathroom.

Axel was preparing to leave for school when there was a knock on the door.
He picked his phone and went to open the door. Then….
“Axel!!!!” Ariel screamed, jumping on him at once.
Mrs. Braun and her husband appeared and Axel’s face scrunched up in anger.
“Why are you here?” He asked, pulling Ariel away from him.
“Do we need to answer you that?” Mrs. Braun rolled her eyes.
“You should take your leave, you’re not welcome here” Axel said rudely.
“Axel,” Ariel called slowly.
“And you shut up, don’t ever call my name” Axel snapped at her
“I won’t take that from you, Axel. Be nice at once” Mr. Braun frowned.
“For what exactly? I should be nice when you bring a lady to me, telling me I’d be getting married to her?” Axel snapped angrily.
Melanie appeared at that time, she was heading to the kitchen when she sighed Axel and his parents. She stopped walking at once.
Ariel, on sighting a lady in the house, quickly held Axel’s arms, glaring at Melanie.
The first thing she noticed was Melanie’s pretty face. She could feel herself boiling with jealousy as she stared at the lady who turned out to be prettier than her.
Melanie’s gaze went to Ariel’s hand which was on Axel’s arms. Her eyes went to her(Ariel’s) face and she felt something prickling within her, seeing as she was so pretty.
“Who are you?” Melanie and Ariel asked at once.
