FINAL CHAPTER
✧ WHAT IS LOVE? ✧
Penny stood there motionless as he kissed her.
“Why does this feels so good? Is it because it’s my first kiss? Aww…I don’t feel like pulling away…it’s so f**king sweet” she thought within.
But then an image suddenly flashed through her mind. It was of two people kissing one is obviously her but the other person unclear.
She pushed him away instinctively holding her head which suddenly hurts.
“Penny are you okay?” Jason asked worried.
“You…” She covers her mouth with her palm. Jason moves closer to her but in a swift, she brought her leg forward and it ran in between his legs.
“Ahn!”He groans clutching to his genitals.
“F**k you!” She spat before running away out of there.
Jason crouch still holding his man which hurts like hell. His eyes caught a shinny thing on the floor and he picked it up.
“This…” He looks at the anklet in shock.
LATER.
“What was that?” Penny kept thinking about the unclear image of two people kissing which flashes through her mind earlier.
“I could swear that was me” she mumbles clearly confused.
Her phone rang and she picked it up without checking the caller ID.
“Michelle you can’t believe I got kissed by a psycho” She said immediately she picked.
“Are you okay?” Came a serene voice which obviously isn’t Michelle’s.
“Uh…” She removed the phone from her ear and checked now. It was an unknown number.
She placed it back on her ear.
“What are you?” Her brows knitted.
“Let me rephrase that ‘who are you?’ Is what you should be asking Miss Peninah McCain”
“I’m hanging up”
“Wait!” The voice sighs.
“I’m Kiara Orwell from DIAZ IN” The voice responded.
“So?”
“Well…we’ve got an offer for you Miss Peninah can you come to the office tomorrow?”
“I thought you guys didn’t want me? Isn’t that why you sent me away earlier?”
“No no…it’s not like that. I apologize for any discomfort you may have felt. Would you be able to make it tomorrow?”
“Well…I’m not that a free person but…since you’re begging earnestly…I’ll manage to find time out of my busy schedules” She replied admiring her painted nails.
“Then see you tomorrow Miss Peninah”
“You too Miss…Tiara”
“It’s Kiara”
“Yeah…sure”
“You should be careful…getting kissed by a psycho isn’t obviously a good thing” Kiara said before hanging up.
“What the heck!” Penny threw the phone on the bed closing her eyes. She smiled to herself.
“Going to the club tonight was worth it”
NEXT DAY.
“Miss Peninah McCain” Kiara called walking towards Penny who stood at the reception.
“Hi Miss_”
“Kiara…Kiara Orwell” Kiara cuts in.
“I know” Penny clears her throat.
“Follow me please” Kiara smiled.

“So…this is the planning team…wow so cool” Penny mutters looking at the team working diligently on their work.
“So this would be your desk. Don’t worry I’ll put you through everything you need to know” Kiara said while she nods
“You don’t mind starting today right?”
“You guys must be desperate..well it’s okay by me”
Kiara smiles and turns to others.
“Guys can I have a moment please?”
They all stopped working and face her.
“Umm…this damsel beside me will be joining you today. She’s Peninah McCain pretty right?” Kiara said while they all smiles at her.
“Hi everyone I’m Peninah McCain I hope we can work together in synergy and harmony” Penny smiles at them.
“Welcome Peninah”
“Welcome Pen””
“You’re pretty”
“Welcome to the team”
They all welcomed her warmly.
Kiara turns to her and smiles.
“Now time to meet the president”
JASON’S OFFICE.
“Come in” His voice came as a knock came through the door.
“Sir…this is Peninah McCain the new team member” Kiara introduced while Jason looks up
“What! He’s the president?” Penny whisper asked kiara who nudge her.
Penny clears her throat and faces Jason who was staring at her. Professionally.
“Hi…no that doesn’t sound right…Hello president I’m Peninah McCain a new member to the planning team” She smiled while Jason only nodded facing his work back.
“You can leave now” Kiara said to her while she nodded leaving after giving Jason one last look.
“I brought her as per your order sir”
“Good work…give her works to do…even the most unnecessary ones make sure she doesn’t go home early” Jason ordered.
“Yes I’ll do just that sir”
“You may go”
Kiara bowed slightly before leaving his office and Jason signs looking at Penny where she was grinning ear to ear on her seat through the transparent glasses surrounding his office.
“If I can keep you by my side with this…I’d love to”
Penny swirls on the chair grinning to herself.
“Finally…I’m now an office lady! This place is so damn biggg!” She chuckles looking around until her gaze landed on Jason who was staring back at her.
“That psycho is the president?” She mutters to herself just then her telephone started ringing. She took her eyes away.
“My first call in the office.. Wow this is so cool” She squealed picking it up.
“Hello this is Peninah McCain speaking, how may I help you sir or ma’am?” She said professionally over the phone.
“Come to my office now” Came an order before the call gets disconnected.
“What the heck! That’s it! Office? What office!” She dropped the telephone and swivel on the chair. Her eyes met with that of Jason’s again and he gestured for her to come.
“Ahh…the psycho’s office” She mumbles.

“Yes president you called for me?”
“About yesterday_”
“You don’t need to apologize about that. I figured out you might be drunk so I’ll just overlook it. You’re my boss now and also I don’t wanna discuss any private matter with you” Penny interrupted him.
“I heard you screwed up at the interview?” Jason asked calmly.
“Ohh…that?” She bit her lower lip.
“I didn’t perse…”
“The honest answer you gave them seems to have pissed them off and hindered them from giving you the job…but I kinda find that answer of yours interesting and amusing so I told my PA to call you back”
“Ohh…so I got in through connection”
“I like that you’re being honest…and I wasn’t drunk when I kissed you last night”
“Then you’re a freaky pervert”
“Not that either…I was tryna confirm something which I did”
“Not like you’re hitting on me”
Jason snickers.
“Get me a cup of Americano”
“I’m ain’t your secretary”
“You’re my emoloyee”
“Why should I do that when it isn’t part of my job”
“Every work here is part of your job. As long as you wanna get that money you came here to work for then…you have to do as I the president ordered” Jason stated.
“Including letting myself get molested by you the president?”
“I never did that”
“Oh please spare me your lame excuses” She rolled her eyes. Jason sighs.
“My coffee in two minutes or just forget about the whole thing. Including the job and the money”
“You can’t just threaten me like that”
“Remember I gave you the work…I can take it back anytime I deem fit.”
“HEY!”
“One minute forty eight seconds left”
“You!” She sighs in defeat.
“I’ll just get you the damn thing gosh!” She turns to leave.
“Ah! Just a spoonful of sugar…don’t spit in it” He added while she scoffs.
“Yes president on the way” She faked a smile and went out of his office stomping her heels on the floor intentionally.
Jason smiles to himself.
“What does he thinks he is? Conceited jerk! Freaky psycho!!” Penny mutters angrily adding sugar to the coffee which is apparently more than a spoonful.
“What if I spit in it? Will you ever know? Tch!” She mixed the coffee together and exhales.
“Should we go?” She smiles leaving the kitchen.
JASON’S OFFICE.
“Here it is sir” She dropped the coffee gently on the table and turns to leave.
“Wait!”
“What now!”
Jason took the cup of coffee and extend it to her.
“Take it…as my congratulatory gift. Welcome to DIAZ INNOVATION Miss Peninah McCain” Jason smiles cutely while she just stood staring at him.
“Come on…you ain’t gonna reject this from me” He asked while she slowly collected it.
“Thanks” She mumbles collecting it from him.
“Go on…drink” He urges and she took a sip but spat it out on him immediately she did.
“Oh, my goodness!!” She shrieked dropping the cup on the table.
Jason cleans himself.
“F**k me! Are you alright?”
Jason said nothing but only took a card and extend it to her.
“SUNSHINE BOUTIQUE five minutes” he said taking off his suit jacket.
“I’m okay though…” She smiles
“I don’t wear cheap clothes…get the most expensive”
“Ohh…it’s for you…” She mutters
“What are you still waiting for…go” He ordered with a changed expression now.
“I’ll be back” she said solemnly walking away from the office.
Jason sighs and slump on the chair.
“Weirdo…” He mutters.
For the rest of the day, Penny didn’t get to sit for at least five minutes cause she is being given work to every minute. For the whole day she keeps running around and even had to rush lunch when she got a little time to eat.
It’s already dark now and everyone has gone home except her. She was given a work to organize some paper works at the last hour so here she is..working.
She straighten her neck which seems stiffs and massage her legs which seems heavy also.
Jason stood watching her from his office. He hasn’t gone home also and even though he has mountain of works to do…he couldn’t concentrate with Penny right here in front of him.
“Come to my office” He said over the telephone to her and Penny groans dragging her legs to his office.
“What do you want from me now? Any more orders…sir?” She asked weariness showing in her voice. But instead of Jason answering, he surprises her by carrying her suddenly and dropping her on his desk. Penny gasped.
“What are you doing?” Her eyes widened when he crouch and took off her heels.
Jason smiles at her though she really likes that smile at the same time she finds it weird.
“Don’t you really remember anything?” His sad voice came out soft.
“What…?” She asked
“Our memories…our lives…our love” He stared deeply into her eyes.
“I…I don’t know what you’re saying?” She looks away while he stood properly grabbing her face slowly turning it to him back.
“I remember everything..I remember it so clearly so why won’t you? Do you know how hard it has been for me…without you there?”
“You must be mistaken but i_”
“Weirdo?” He cuts her in.
“Uh?” She answered instinctively.
“Remember me…please” He rested his forehead on hers. Her eyes wouldn’t stop blinking while her heartbeat strangely started palpitating.
“Don’t forget me…promise me you won’t” A voice suddenly rang in her ear and she gasped pushing him away.
“I…I’ve gotta go ” She bounced down from the desk wearing her heels in a rush. She made to go but Jason held her back.
“You can’t do this to me Penny…does everything means nothing to you now. Do I really mean that little to you that you just forgot!”
“I…I don’t know you!”
“Then what about this!” He brought out the anklet from his pocket showing it to her.
“Why do you have that?” She made to collect it but he shifted his hand away.
“Why do you keep this with you then! Why do you still have it with you?”
“What do you mean? It’s mine!”
“I gave this to you! This was…it represented my love to you. You have it but you don’t remember me who gave it to you!”
“It’s me…Penny it’s me…your young man…we loved each other so much. We cared so much. You said you wouldn’t leave me…it’s me Jason. Peninah”
“I…” She held her head.
“Look at me. Tell me…you’re not my Weirdo” He stared into her eyes while she did also.
“I’m…I’m not the one…please…I’m not” she shook her head running out of his office.
Strangely, her head started hurting again and her thinking is just in jumbles. Everything seems confusing. A part of her believes what he said while another part doesn’t wanna accept it. She got her bag and ran out of the office while Jason just stood stagnant watching her as she leaves.
“How could you…” He mutters dejected.
OUTSIDE.
Penny walked outside the building muddle headed. Everything Jason said to her was just crashing with the blurry images she’s getting jeopardizing her thinking.
“We loved each other”
“Our memories our love…our lives”
“Don’t forget me Jason…promise me you won’t”
Voices wouldn’t stop ringing in her ears.
Cars started blaring from all angles. She didn’t even realized she was already at the middle of the road.
She held her head tightly as voices wouldn’t stop.
Her head pounding crazily.
“WEIRDO!!!” Jason howled running to her where she stood surrounded by cars and angry drivers yelling at her.
She brought up her face and saw him running to her. Her sight was already blurry that she could hardly see his face.
“Peninah!!” He grabbed her on getting to her.
“Young man…” She mutters weakly before passing out in his arms.
“PENNY!!” He yelled out.
THREE YEARS AGO.
After they’ve all sacrificed themselves to protect the ones they love.
The water goddess came and took care of everything.
He erases Jason’s memories giving him his life back to before he met Peninah.
Rowan was a child that should have never been born in the first place so he wasn’t redeemed.
Aviva made a mistake of not listening to her grandmother which made her to be cursed.
But the curse eventually lifted the moment she stabbed Rowan in the chest. So definitely, she indeed paid for her sins. However, the water goddess didn’t think it’s fair for her to just end her life like that so instead she gave him a whole new different life.
Peninah on the other side gave up being human just to save the one she loves.
Normally, she should have turned to bubbles and disappear from this world without no trace but with the luck that she has a human blood running through her veins, she got the rare opportunity to live another life.
Her mermaid self died the moment Jason stabbed her with the dagger and the water goddess saved her human life also giving her an entire new life just like Aviva.
Their memories were erased and replaced new ones they have never had.
They became new people with new lives.
Normal humans with different lives.
Now, there’s no curse burden
There’s no need to sacrifice any of their loved ones.
Now, all they just need is to be happy because sadness is now a thing of the past to them.
Princess Peninah cease to exist.
Aviva became a person of the past.
Now they’re now two different people with different lives.
✧ EPILOGUE ✧
BEACH.
Peninah and Jason stood by the sea watching it with satisfying smiles on their respective lips.
What could they possibly want more than this.
After all challenges, here they are in each others arms.
“Tell me the truth, you weren’t that sad i wasn’t with you right?” Penny asked. The breeze fanning her hair with Jason behind her holding her in his arms.
“Talk for yourself…you went clubbing while I was sulking. You were having a really fun time. Have you been doing that for the whole three years?”
“Hey come on…I didn’t even remember anything”
“Ohh…playing that card I see”
“But I did felt something was missing. I was happy…I was clearly happy but it wasn’t enough…do you know why?”
“Why?”
“Because you weren’t there…I was happily bored”
“But you seem rather to be doing well…kicking other’s asses”
“Were you annoyed? Because I kicked your @ss, twice at that?”
“How do you become like this? My weirdo wasn’t clearly this cheeky and somewhat bad ass”
“So, you don’t like the me now?”
“I just miss the innocent naive Penny who wouldn’t stop asking me for a kiss”
“So you don’t want the one kicking your @ss? Tell me…do you like her more or me?”
“What are you saying you’re the same person”
“I just wanna be sure… Old Penny or the new one. me or her?”
“I love both”
“Not acceptable”
“The question is not acceptable in the first place”
“You cunning psycho”
“Funny and good to hear that from you again. It’s been years” He says and she smiles.
They stayed silent for a while enjoying the cool breeze.
“What is love, young man?” Her voice suddenly came breaking the silence.
“Love…, love is the feeling of intense attraction towards someone. But according to Jason, love is that strong immesurable feeling that he has acquired after meeting this weirdo of a girl who wouldn’t stop asking him for a kiss. Initially he thought this girl was crazy but as time goes by…he realizes he’s the crazy one as he can’t literally do without this weirdo. He literally became addicted to her and her weirdness becomes something he couldn’t help but grow on. His fondness for her became so extreme that…he’s ready to sacrifice everything he has just to be with her”
“Really? Well that means Love is a good thing?”
“Hmm…it is. The best one could hope for”
“Since it’s is a good thing then…I love you Young man”
“Do you know…that I do love you more Weirdo?”
“You’re my psycho love”
“You’re my weird Love”
“I don’t know about any other thing but what I’m sure of is that I love you so so so so very very very much…My Jason” She pulled him closer crashing her lips on his.
She smiles into the kiss and unlock licking his lips.
“Hmm…that’s sweet” She beams.
“I love you really really really really really so f**king much….My Peninah” He grins back.
