CHAPTER 23
The dagger got stuck on the wall as he threw it forward with full force.
Breathing heavily, he slumped on the floor dabbing his face with his palms.
“I can’t do this…I can’t” He whimper silently as his fingers crawled to his hair digging into it roughly.
ROWAN’S HOUSE.
Rowan opens the door with heavy expression on. It’s apparent he’s not in his best mood.
Aviva made her way inside the house as he opens the door. Strangely, his face relaxed the moment he saw her.
“I’m surprised to see you here…Vee” He mutters behind her.
Aviva sighs and swivel on a heel facing him.
She smiles brightly at him.
“I missed you…so I came” She shrugged.
Rowan couldn’t help chuckling.
“You’re exactly what I need right now” His face brightens walking towards her. He slid his arms around her waist his palms cupping her waist. His head rested on her forehead and they smile at each other.
“You’ve eaten?” He asked
“No”
“Should I make you something, what do you want?”
“You”
“Oh really now…”
“Huh”
“What an expensive and massive appetite you’ve got there uh”
“Do you mind?”
“You can eat the whole of me…I never mind” He took her lips in his while she chuckles into the kiss.
Up…he lift her and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
She held his face and gave him a short kiss.
“Say what?” He said.
“What?”
“I really missed these effects your touch had on me” he stretches his neck and gave her a peck on the lips also.
“Don’t be silly” She chuckled and he carried her to the kitchen dropping her on the counter there.
“Pork chops?” He asked.
“You know me better” she winks
“Pork chops it is then”
He gave her one last peck before moving away from her picking the necessary items for the food.
Aviva watch him smiling where she seated whilst once in a while he’d look back at her giving her a sweet smile also.

Penny’s eyelids opens slowly and it landed on his chest. She titled her head up and her eyes met with his who was staring at her.
“Finally you’re awake” He mumbles.
“Young man…” Her serene voice came and he smiles.
“Let’s go on a date…weirdo”

Aviva stroke Rowan’s hair as he sleeps peacefully. She wouldn’t stop smiling as she stares at him who clung unto her.
Leaning forward, she kisses his forehead her lips lingering on it for some moments before pulling away. Slowly so as not to wake him up, she got away from the bed without anything on. She picked up her scattered clothes on the floor and wore it then look back at him dejected.
“I’m sorry Rowan…but this…is my goodbye” She smiles sadly before leaving the room.
She was about going out of the house when her mind drifted off to something. She halted and turned back going to a different direction.
Opening the door, she went in slowly and saw her right there. Where she was placed. She could feel some dark aura around her which only means Rowan has been using his power to keep her alive till date. But she’s barely alive…only with the help of the magical orb can she get up and live like before. For now, she’s bardo. She’s stuck between life and death.
She sighs as she looks sadly at her.
“This is all because of you…you should have listened from the beginning then…innocent lives wouldn’t have to suffer for it now. You…really don’t deserve to live” Aviva said to the unconscious Rowan’s mother on the bed.
“Don’t worry…your suffering and pain is gonna end soon. Very soon…and finally, you’ll be able to have…an eternal rest” She added before turning away and exiting the room.

“Where are we going young man?” Penny asked as Jason speed off the highway.
“You’re gonna find that out soon” He smiles increasing the speed.
“Ohh!” Penny shrieked holding onto herself while Jasom couldn’t help chuckling remembering the first time they met.
AT THE SEA.
“Do you remember this place?” Jason asked as they walk hand in hand together.
“We met here…for the first time” He added and she smiles.
“You’re right?” She looks to the sea.
“I can still remember clearly…how you jumped on me demanding for a kiss. Not only did I thought you were a pervert…I also thought you were crazy then” He chuckles.
They stopped walking and took their seat on the ground.
“I actually came here to meet my mother then. I was really going through a hard time…and I needed someone to distract me. Then boom! You appeared…doing just what I wanted” He smiles and she looks at him solemnly.
“Can you wait here for a bit? I’ve got to get something from the car” He said and she nodded.
“I’ll be right back” He kissed her cheek and stood up running back to the car.
Penny returns her gaze back to the sea and sighs.
“I never thought…being here would make me miss home” She mutters.
Jason got to the car opening the drawer, he brought out the dagger which was wrapped in clothing. He sighs and was about going back but couldn’t because a sudden pain grip him…in his heart again.
“Ah!” He held his chest tightly as he felt a rush pain…overwhelming him.
“Why isn’t he coming back?” Penny sighs after some minutes of waiting.
Jason rest his head back on the car seat. He was covered in sweats already and was breathing heavily.
He looks at the dagger which suddenly started surging in his hand.
“Please…” He mutters groaning.
MINUTES LATER.
Penny stood up worried now to go check on him but just then she saw him running towards her.
“Young man! Why did you took so long? I thought something happened”
“Sorry…I had to take a call” he held her face while she nodded.
“What do you went to get?” She asked and he showed her the dagger unwrapping the clothing around it.
Immediately Penny saw it, she staggers back holding her chest as it suddenly hurts.
“Are you okay?” He held her and she nodded.
“I’m fine. That…where did you get it?”
“Ohh…a strange old woman gave it to me…saying I have to stab you with it” he replied simply.
“Wh…what?”
“Or better still you stab me with it. That way…one of us could live” He said like it mean nothing.
“River goddess…”Penny mutters.
“I don’t wanna die Penny” He said looking at the dagger.
“She asked me to stab you in the chest…that way…I can stop this pain I’m feeling…and I can live” he says while Penny only nodded.
“That is crazy…how does she expect me to do something so cruel?” He looks up to her and smiles. Before Penny could know it, he threw the dagger into the sea
Penny gasped.
Jason breathe heavily and grab her.
“I can’t let you die either Penny…I know…there will be repercussions but right now I don’t care…Penny…i just want you to stay by my side for a long time” He rest his forehead on hers sniffing.
“I can’t…let you go Penny” He said in a breaking voice while Penny couldn’t help the tears streaming down her face also.
“But…we have to make our decision. Jason this is all my fault so…let me pay for it please”
“No…don’t…don’t you say that. No one is dying and this…we’re….we’re gonna find a solution to it. I promise you alright?”
“Jason…” She called as more tears stream down.
He wipe off her tears and pulled her into his arms.
“I love you” He whispers slowly to her while she bursts into more tears hugging him tightly.
MINUTES LATER.
“But why are we here exactly? To throw away the dagger?”
“No…to watch the sunrise”
“Sunrise?”
“I want to watch the rising of the sun with my woman. You should be honoured”
“Really? I am young man” She smiles while he mussed up her hair.
“You once asked me right? If you were attractive to me?”
“Come to think of it…I never got my answer”
“Weirdo you…you’re strangely…beautifully and crazily uniquely beautiful. I…fell for you…without realizing it. You’re like my…weird romance”
“And you’re my psycho love young man” She wraps her arms around him grinning.
“Oh no that again”
“I love you so so so so really really really really very very much!” She beams.
“Your smile is beautiful…don’t ever stop smiling”
NEXT DAY.
“I’d love to go with you but…grandpa is at home waiting”
“Don’t worry Young man…I’ll be fine”
“I really wanna meet this friend of yours”
“You will another da_…oh I mean later…later you will”
“Okay…wait” He entered his car and brought out a face cap wearing it on her.
She grins.
“See you at home”
“Uh” She kissed his lips and waves while he got into the car.
“I’ll call you” He smiles igniting the engine.

“Peninah…”
“Aviva…” She called in a breaking voice running into her arms at the same time.
Aviva hugged her tightly to herself.
“I’m sorry…I’m so sorry Penny…I’m really…” She broke into tears. Penny pulled out and look at her.
“It’s not your fault Avi…if anything else…it’s that you’ve been a great help. If not for you…I wouldn’t have made it this far. Thank you Aviva…for being part of my life on land”
“But I can’t do anything help you now…I can’t do absolutely anything”
“You’ve done more than enough…I’ll miss you more than anything else”
“Im sorry Penny…I really am…”
Penny smiles and just then her phone beeped. She brought it out to check the message.
“Oh!” The phone drops from her hand and she almost lost her balance.
“What’s it?” Aviva asked holding her.
“Jason…Jason…” She stuttered.
ABANDONED BUILDING.
Aviva with her psychic power was able to foreseen where Rowan was.
It was already dark by the time they arrived there.
“What took you so f**king long? I waited” Rowan said puffing out smoke from the cigarette he was smoking.
He was seating on a chair with his legs crossed and a bottle of whiskey on the table.
“Hi there Vee…I knew you’ll find me no matter what”
“Jason!!!” Penny shrieked running to Jason who was tied to a chair but before she could get to him Rowan blew her away with his power.
“Ah!” She grunts as she fell brutally of the floor.
“PENNY!!” Aviva run to her holding her.
“You okay?”
“Let him go” Penny glared at Rowan who only shrugged. He releases him with his power but instead Penny found herself in the position he was before.
“What are you doing Rowan!” Aviva snapped.
“You know exactly what I’m doing Vee…don’t you?”
“Handsome man…”Penny called and Rowan turns to her.
“Yes…beautiful lady”
“Why are you doing this? You are a nice man”
“Oh spare me that” He walks towards his bag and brought out a dagger.
“I only need something from you”
“Let Jason go”
“No no no…he’s the key to getting what I want”
“What do you want?”
“The orb inside you…he wants to save his dying mother with it” Aviva said.
“What?”
“But you see…the only person who can take it out is him” He pointed to the unconscious Jason on the floor.
“He just need to stab you with this…and the orb will come out itself and I’ll get what I want” He said simply.
“No…I can’t give it to you”
“You don’t have to…I’ll take it myself”
He woke Jason up with his power and he started coughing.
“Young man” Penny called where she was tied.
“Penny!!” He wanted to go to her but Rowan appeared suddenly punching him.
He flew over and landed on the floor with a thud.
Rowan walks to him and pulled him up giving him another punch in the stomach.
“Stop! Stopp please!!” Penny started crying.
“Rowan…stop this” Aviva held his hand.
“Don’t do this…” She shook her head at him.
Rowan guffaw letting him go.
“Do you want your girlfriend back? Then I’ve got something for you to do” He stretches the dagger to him.
“This…this…” Jason mutters recognizing it.
“Im sure you must have figured out by now…if you continue staying with her…you’re gonna die”
“I won’t die”
“Oh yes you will bro…but I can prevent that”
“She won’t die either”
“Just bring out the orb with this and I promise to take your pain away. No more sleepless nights…no more near death experiences…you shall have you life back…a life with no pains or agony…a life with no worries. Here” He extend the dagger to him but he didn’t collect.
“TAKE IT!!!” He roared in a scary manner and Jason quickly collect it shaking.
Rowan sighs and smile
“Now get me the Orb while I give you back your life”
Jason turns to Penny who was tied down.
With his hands still shaking he instinctively dropped the dagger shaking his head.
“I can’t do it…I can’t…I can’t” Tears wouldn’t stop rushing down like waterfall.
Rowan became angry and bent to pick the dagger but before he could someone else did.
In a swift, the dagger got stuck in his heart and his mouth went wide open.
“Ah…” He grunts trying to get her away as Aviva with all her power drill the dagger in his heart.
His anger rise and his eyes darkened immediately.
“Ahh!” Aviva grunts as a force slam her away from him with her back hitting the wall.
She started coughing and swifty, Rowan got to her getting hold of her neck.
She gasp holding his hand on her neck as he raised her up with it. He change totally…into a beast.
“Finally…I did it…I hope this ends…everyone’s…mi…sery…I’m sorry…Rowan…” Blood drip down from her mouth as she talks.
She gasps for breathe with tears rolling down her cheeks as he continues strangling her with his eyes full of darkness.
“I love you…Rowan” She struggled to say and that seems to bring him back to his senses. The darkness started clearing off.
“Vee…” He called shocked on realizing what he has done. Aviva smiles but that was short lived.
“Oh no…” Rowan quickly retracted his hand from her neck but seems he was late as she went down. He got hold of her and together they went down to the floor.
“Vee…Vee…no…no…” Tears started rushing down his eyes as blood rushed down from his chest as well.
“NOOOOOO!!!!!” He yelled out and spat out blood. Like that he went down also with her still in his arms. He brought his bloody hand to her face and close her eyes which was wide open.
“I’m sorry Vee…I…love…” His eyes closed before he could complete his statement and his hand fell down from her face also.
“AVIVA!!!” Penng cried where she was tried. Using her the last ounce of power she had in her, she set herself free and ran to the Aviva who was lying lifelessly on the floor.
“Aviva…” She cried bitterly holding her in her arms.
Jason stagger back his legs going numb as he watches everything happening.
After crying for some minutes, Penny dropped her gently and walked slowly to Jason who stood stupefied.
She bent and took the dagger. On getting to him, she smiles and held his hand.
“Jason…” She called while he shakes his head.
“It’s okay…it is” She keeps smiling.
“Penny…let’s…let’s just get out of here…let’s go home…go with me uh?”
“You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me…”
“No…stop it”
“I love you…”
“I SAID STOP IT!!!”
“I’m in pains Jason…it’s too much for me to bear…please…let me go now” She pleaded.
“We can still find solution to this…you don’t have to die…nobody has to. Penny look at me…it’s me…your young man…you said you wouldn’t leave me…you promised to…forever be there….please…” He sobs while she brought one of her hands to his face.
“I love you Jason…I really do”
“Penny…” He held her hand on his face shaking his head.
“This is not…our goodbyes Don’t forget that…” Peninah leans forward and connect her lips with his. The kiss went on and on…she unlock and smiles at him.
Slowly she brought his hand holding the dagger to her chest.
“Ah!” Her mouth went wide open as it penetrate into her heart. Jason closed his eyes instantly as hot tears slipped down his eyes.
“Look at me…look at me Jason…please” Her weak voice came and he slowly opens it.
She smiles again and lean forward. But this time it wasn’t a kiss…slowly, the magical orb in her came out of her chest and went into his mouth settling down in his heart.
“AHHHH!!” He yelled out while Penny’s hair turns white fully.
Jason started panting hard holding in the pain.
Penny slumped down while he held her in his arms going down also.
“Penny…”
“Don’t…forget me…don’t…don’t Ja…son” her eyes slowly closed and her hand on his still holding the dagger to her chest went down. Her blue blood oozed out non stop.
“Penny…Penny please…aaahhhhhh!!!” He grip on his chest his back hitting the floor.
Tears escape his eyes for the last time before his eyes shut.
