CHAPTER 25 ~~

DEENA’S POV

Wait a minute, am I being blown out of this world or Tristan just called Emerald Cho Dad? I questioned in my head in shock.

I looked at dad and he was blown out as well.

Dad, you must be feeling so humiliated and embarras-sed right now. I can’t believe you got to meet your role model in a situation like this. Dad too bad you first impression suc-ks. I uttered in my head looking at the ground.

“It’s nice to meet you sir, My name’s Sansan Gu and here’s my husband Gu Guan. Darling what are you staring at, you should say hello” Mum whispered to Dad and he got himself together.

“I’m sorry, I was out of it a bit. It’s an honor to be here” Dad said with a smile offering his hand for an handshake and Mr Emerald received his handshake.

“Thanks for visiting our hospital and she is?” Mr Cho asked referring to me and I bowed to him.

“Hello Mr Cho, My name’s Deena Gu” I said politely and he smiled at me then looked at Tristan.

“Since the introduction is over, Dad meet Deena my girlfriend” Tristan cut in and everyone stared at him in surprise.

“Just as expected, my son chose a good one. She’s pretty, I would have beautiful grandkids” Mr Cho complimented and I smiled widely.

Did Mr Cho just said grandkids? Does that mean he has accepted me into their family? I gasped in my head excitedly.

“Deena thanks for accepting our Tristan for who he is okay and welcome to the family. I will my possible best to get you back on your feet, you can trust me on that” Mrs Cho said with a smile.

How lucky Tristan can be, he got such reasonable and loving parents. I said in my head with a wide smile.

“Thank you so much ma’am” I said calmly.

“Mum can we go throu-ghsome tests now. Deena nee-ds to get some rest” Tristan said and his mum hit him lightly.

“Silly boy, you should at least give us some time to know each other and you told Mr Gu wanted to have a word with me before we proceed. Since we’re all here, how about we go to my office?” Mrs Cho suggested.

“Please lead the way” Dad said politely.

“Tristan, how about you take Deena around. Leave the adults to talk in private. We will call you over when we’re done”Mr Cho said with a smile and Tristan nodded.

“Of course Dad, you guys go ahead. Deena let’s go” Tristan said jovially then pushed my wheelchair.

We got to an open space and Tristan sat on a bench.

“Tristan why didn’t….” I couldn’t finish my statement when he cut in sharply.

“Before you say anything, I would love to apologize for not saying anything to you. It didn’t cross my mind to tell you because you never asked” He said with his face down.

“What are you even saying? You told me you knew a doctor here in Guangzhou, you would have just gone straight ahead and told me she was your Mum. Why did you lie to me? You told me she was a relative, didn’t it occur to you to tell me the truth then. What are you playing at Tristan?” I asked getting pissed.

“Deena I’m sorry, I honestly didn’t mean to hide it from you but I don’t like talking about my family. Sometimes people misun-derstand me because of my background and again it’s not like talking about my family mattered in our relationship. I was planning on introducing you to them at the right time” He explained and I bite my lower li-ps frustratedly.

“You couldn’t even share that little detail of yourself to me, do I even deserve to call myself your girlfriend” I said as tears roll down my cheeks.

“Deena I think you’re overreacting. The whole time we spent together, we never discussed about our family so why are you suddenly making it a big deal and again, we’ve done the introduction today. You saw how happy my folks are about you” Tristan said and I hit the handle of my wheelchair angrily.

“At first, I wasn’t planning on making this a big deal but it doesn’t make sense. I didn’t ask you about your family because I noticed you don’t like talking about it and now what, it didn’t cross your mind to tell me. Like seriously Tristan” I blurted angrily.

“Deena, you nee-d to relax okay. You’re taking this the wrong way and it’s not good for either of us. Ain’t you happy to meet my parents today?” He asked curiously and I glared at him.

“That’s not the case here and I don’t think you un-derstand how I feel… Tristan let’s break up, you can’t even trust me with this little detail of your life then there’s no use of us being together” I said seriously then turned around pushing the wheelchair myself.

“Deena! Deena!” Tristan called out then ran to me and knelt in front of me, stopping me from going.

“Deena please let’s not do this. It’s all my fault, I accept. It’s all my fault, I should have been open to you from the very start but if you’re reacting this way because I didn’t tell you about my parents then I don’t think it’s right because you hide something from me as well..” He said looking away.

“What are you saying?” I asked staring at him.

“Why didn’t you tell me your Dad had something to do with us departing in Hainan? You should have come open to me but you didn’t, doesn’t that mean you didn’t trust me either? But Deena I let it slide because of what I feel for you” He said slowly.

“If you were in my shoes, you would have done same and these are two different things” I said and he smi-rked.

“What’s funny?” I asked with a frown and he stood up from his knees.

“Now I get it, this is it. You don’t trust me one bit. Do you have any idea, how much you hurt me because of that. And just like you said, I wouldn’t do same Deena. I would have discussed the situation with you so we would work things out but instead you chose to make things even ha-rder for the both of us. I’m not bringing up the past but I’m only trying to make you change your mind. We love each other and we’re not perfect so we should be forgiving and un-derstanding, I un-derstood our situation then so why can’t you now? Is breaking up the best option you could think of? Do I look that easy to you? You can’t keep cutting things off like what we feel for each other isn’t unreal. Stop making me feel like a loser” Tristan said seriously then walked away.

AUTHOR’S POV

Tristan and Deena’s parents were seated at Abigail’s office.

“Emm… About Deena’s..” Abigail couldn’t finish her statement when Mr Gu cut in.

“I’m sorry about earlier. I used the wrong words on Tristan earlier, I’m sorry about that” Mr Gu apologized sincerely.

That was a good move, I can’t look like an uncivilized fellow in front of Emerald. I can’t believe I caused such a fuss in the present of his wife. Nothing could be more embarras-sing than that. I should have just listened to Sansan and kept shut then, what would this great personnels think of me right now. Mr Gu uttered in his head feeling so embarras-sed.

“It’s okay, I’m glad Tristan didn’t take it the wrong. He usually doesn’t like it if people use such words on him. I guess he tried to un-derstand you” Abigail said calmly.

“He’s all grown up now, I’m glad about that. By the way Mr Gu, you didn’t have to fly down to Guangzhou with them. You look like a busy man”. Emerald uttered.

“I’m a busy man but nothing could be more important than my daughter’s health. I feel bad already for not being able to fly to Spain so I’m making up for it” Mr Gu said with a smile.

Hmm… You would only say that to strangers. You actually came here to cause a scene. Sansan uttered in her head laughing.

“Oh I see. And I’ve heard about your company couple of times, you’ve got a very promising generational business” Emerald complimented.

“Ah not really but thank you so much for the compliment” Mr Gu said trying to hide his excitement.

Nothing could be more exciting than this moment. I can’t believe Emerald have heard of our company. Getting a compliment from him is a trophy. Mr Gu gasped in his head excitedly.

“By the way, it’s surprising how Tristan managed to become a reporter when both of his parents are doctors” Sansan cut in and they all laughed.

“We get that a lot but things doesn’t really work out that way all the time. Tristan’s our only son and we had him at a young age so we didn’t want to for-ce him into doing what he doesn’t like. When he was little, he was so interested in the medical field, we even planned on sending him to the best medical school outside the country but everything changed when we took him to watch a automobile racing match with us” Abigail said with a smile.

“Automobile racing match? That’s similar to what our Deena does” Mr Gu cut in surprised.

“He completely fell in love then, we had no idea what he fell in love with but that was how he slowly changed his mind on becoming a medical doctor” Emerald said smiling.

“And you didn’t have a problem with it?” Mr Gu asked curiously.

“Why would we? Is his life and there’s no use in doing what you don’t love. He’s a genius so we were certain he would make a name for himself” Emerald said calmly.

Now I see why people admire him so much. Emerald isn’t from this world. Mr Gu said in his head obviously impressed.

“Then about the hospital? Who would look after it when the both of you retire?” Sansan asked curiously.

Why is she asking such lame questions? Her questions should be related to how to make Tristan and Deena get married as soon as possible. Mr Gu said in his head with a frown.

“Well, we have two daughters although one of them isn’t interested in medical line but the other is a freshman in medical school right now” Abigail said with a smile.

“You have two daughters?” Sansan asked excitedly.

“Yes, twins actually” Abigail corrected.

“Wow that’s great, I’m so jealous” Sansan said with a wide smile.

“Of course you shouldn’t be, the both of you still look young. You can still have another kid if you wish to…” Emerald said politely and Gu laughed.

“Don’t you think it’s a bit too late for us..” Mr Gu couldn’t complete his statement when Tristan barged in.

“Dad, Mum, I will have to get going. You will have to go throu-ghthe test without me. Bye” He said coldly and walked out swiftly.

“Why’s his face like that?” Abigail asked looking at Emerald.

“I guess they had a fight” Emerald whispered to her.

Deena that silly girl, why would she even think of having a fight. This isn’t the right time of getting into such. Mr Gu said in his head angrily.
