CHAPTER 24 ~~

“CEO I’ve booked the flight but I don’t think you will be able to go with the next flight” Mr Gu’s secretary stuttered and Mr Gu glared at him.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“All the plane have been completely booked so we’re going with the next flight” He said lowly and Mr Gu hissed.

“Are you telling me, I will have to wait here till the next three hours? What about Deena? That’s more than enough time to run away with that mannerless guy. I can’t just stay and do nothing. Don’t we have another alternative?” Mr Gu asked frustratedly.

“CEO we have but I don’t think you would like the idea” His secretary said slowly and Mr Gu gave him a curious look.

“Let’s give it a try”

MINUTES LATER….
Mr Gu and his secretary are on the plane already, heading to Guangzhou.

“This is really a terrible idea” Mr Gu Gr0-ned as he watched the lady next to them removing her baby’s diapers.

“I’m sorry sir” His secretary said almost in a whisper.

“Since we couldn’t get the first clas-s flight, you should have at least gotten the business clas-s flight but instead you got this economy clas-s flight. So much inconvenience and you know so well how I hate being inconvenienced” Mr Gu complained bitterly.

“I’m sorry sir, this was the only one available now and you said you don’t have a problem with it so I booked it immediately”

“Just because I said I don’t have a problem with it doesn’t mean I like it either. In fact let’s not talk about it, it’s annoying me the more. I’m doing things my daughter so there’s no nee-d for me to complain. Just you wait and see how I deal with that mannerless guy, he dare call me uncivilized” Mr Gu said angrily and his secretary held back his laughter.

“Boss this is actually the first time I’m seeing you this worked up at someone else’s words” His secretary pointed out.

“Of course and that’s because he’s in no position to say that to me. He doesn’t look rich, what can he offer to Deena if he isn’t a golddigger” Mr Gu cursed with a frown.

AN HOUR LATER…
Tristan, Deena and Sansan got to the hospital at Guangzhou.

“I will be right back. The both of you wait here, I nee-d to use the restroom” Tristan said and Deena nodded.

“Alright go ahead” Sansan said and sat down on a bench along the lobby.

“Deena it’s a nice hospital. It seems like it’s a private hospital” Sansan said looking around.

“I think so as well Mum. The maintenance here is unique, anyone who’s admitted here wouldn’t even want to go home if he’s being discharged. Mum I think Tristan made the right choice by bringing me here” Deena said with a wide smile and just then Tristan was done in the washroom so he came out.

“Let’s go to her office” Tristan said as he stood behind Deena to push her wheelchair.

Sansan’s phone started ringing, it’s Mr Gu calling.

“Sansan why are you not taking your calls? I’ve been calling you for ages, you’re just taking your calls now” Mr Gu nagged over the phone and Sansan rolled her eyes.

“You’re only calling now so why are you nagging already and by the way why are you calling? Do you nee-d anything?” Sansan asked over the phone.

“I’ve arrived at Guangzhou so send me the hospital’s address. I will be heading there right now so don’t even think about seeing the doctor before I arrive. Maybe he’s a quack, I don’t trust that mannerless guy” Mr Gu said seriously.

“What about our appointment with the doctor? Do you want us to keep the doctor waiting? What difference does it make if you see the doctor it not like you’re going to add anything to the treatment. You’re only looking for ways to stir up trouble. If you’re planning on causing a scene here at the hospital, don’t bother coming” Sansan blurted.

“Cut the crap and send me the address. My daughter’s health also matters to me” Mr Gu said and hung up.

Sansan swiftly sent the hospital’s address to Mr Gu.

“Mum, did Dad really fly down to Guangzhou with us?” Deena asked with her mouth a gap.

“Mr Gu is really persistent. He sure doesn’t like me” Tristan said lowly.

“Tristan, you shouldn’t worry about such things. If he doesn’t like you that’s his problem. Deena and I like you and that’s what matters. By the way, he said we shouldn’t see the doctor until he arrives” Sansan said slowly.

“That’s not good, we can’t keep the doctor waiting. She must have lots of patients waiting to meet with her. Tristan what should we do?” Deena asked worriedly.

“That’s not a problem, I will handle it but for now let’s go grab a cu-p of coffee at the cafe on the first floor” Tristan suggested with a smile.

“They have a cafe at the hospital as well?” Sansan asked grinning.

“They do and they make delicious coffees” Tristan complimented.

“Wow, I’m loving it here more than I expected” Sansan said smiling as they head to the elevator.

Tristan texted his mum.
~ Mum, you would have to bear with us. Deena’s dad wants to meet you in person before accepting to get his daughter treated here. He’s doubting my capacity ~

They got to the cafe and took their seat.

Tristan sighted two of his friends from college.

Oh no, what are they doing here? I can’t let them see me here. It will be no ending conversation and that’s not good for me. I can’t let Mr Gu see me as the talkative type. Tristan uttered in his head then stood up.

“I have to make an important call so please excuse me” Tristan said anxiously then left their table before his friends would notice.

Tristan looked at his calendar and smiled.

Today’s a perfect day for me to introduce Deena to Mum and luckily Dad wouldn’t be coming today. Saturdays are always his days off. Tristan said in his head with a wide smile on his li-ps.

Minutes later they were done having their coffee so they head back to the doctor’s office lobby.

“Sansan!” Mr Gu called out as he came out of the elevator with his secretary.

“Dad you didn’t have to come all the way here. Come and Tristan can handle things over here” Deena said as he walked to them.

“I don’t trust anyone other than myself. Anyways the hospital doesn’t look bad, I just have to make sure the doctor is qualified” Mr Gu said seriously.

“You don’t have to worry sir, the Doctors here are professional. I’m giving you my words” Tristan said politely and Mr Gu glared at him.

“Deena before we go in and meet the doctor. You have to break up with him right here and now” Mr Gu ordered and everyone looked at him in shock.

“What are you saying Dad? Why would you even say something like that when we’ve come this far” Deena said almost in tears and Tristan placed his hand on her shoulders.

“You haven’t forgotten what I told you over the phone in Hainan right?” Mr Gu said with a mean look.

“I’m your only daughter but why are you treating me this way? Don’t I have any right to choose whoever I want to be with” Deena said as tears roll down her cheeks.

Mr Gu had something to do with what happened in Hainan. Why am I just realizing it now? Tristan uttered in his head.

“You’re my only daughter and that’s why I can’t let you live that kind of life” Mr Gu said seriously.

“What kind of life?” Deena asked seriously.

“Ending up with a lowlife. His standards are too low for your status Deena, I’m only doing this for your future”

“Darling you can’t for-ce her to stop being with who she wants to be with. Deena have always been a good girl ever since she was little. Can’t you just let this slide and let her be with who she loves” Sansan cut in and Mr Gu glared at her.

“Sansan can you listen to yourself? Do you think your dad would have allowed us to get married if I was a lowlife without a solid background. My parents wouldn’t have allowed it either so if you don’t have anything good to add to this conversation then stay out of it. I didn’t fly all the way from Shanghai just to waste my time here” Mr Gu said angrily.

“Sir what don’t you like about me exactly?” Tristan asked calmly.

“Everything. You’re just an ordinary reporter and I’m pretty sure, a poor educational background. What exactly can you offer Deena?” Mr Gu asked bluntly.

“What’s this commotion here?” Abigail asked from behind and everyone turned to her.

“And you are?” Mr Gu asked rudely.

“I work here. I’m a doctor, my name’s Abigail Cho. You must be Deena Gu right?” Abigail asked staring at Deena and Deena bowed to her.

“Hello doctor, sorry for the commotion” Deena apologized politely.

“It’s okay, I’m sorry but I kinda heard someone call my son a lowlife so I couldn’t help it but interrupt. Tristan are you okay? You stood there and listen to all that” Abigail said softly as she walked to Tristan caressing his hair.

“You’ve changed a lot, even your terrible temper is gone. I’m proud of you son, you must love her so much” Abigail said with a smile.

Everyone was still confused on what was going on. Deena and Sansan was obviously in shock so they couldn’t utter a word.

“It’s okay mum. By the way, mum meet Mr Gu and Mrs Gu, Deena’s parents” Tristan introduced and Abigail gave out her hand for an handshake.

“Although we’re just seeing each other for the first time, I still have to be honest with you. I don’t really appreciate it when people look down on my son and it’s nice meeting you” Abigail said with a half smile and Mr Gu gave out his hand in disbelief.

“Wait a minute, what’s going on here?” Mr Gu asked putting himself together and just then Tristan’s Dad joined them.

“Honey, you seem to have lots of guests today” Emerald said with a smile and everyone fixed their eyes on him.

“Dad, what are you doing here? I thought today’s your day off?” Tristan asked curiously.

“Silly boy, you finally decided to visit. I got a tip off, you will be bringing your girlfriend today so I couldn’t help it but come have a look” Emerald said with a smile.

“Oh,my bad. My name’s Emerald Cho, I’m the CEO of this hospital” Emerald introduced and Mr Gu’s jaw dropped.

What’s going on here? Is this really Emerald in front of me. Gu you must have done something great in your past life to be standing in front of almighty Emerald Cho right now.. I must be dreaming.. this must definitely be a dream. Mr Gu gasped in his head in shock.
