_Chapter Four_
Anna?
” The only equation we can find here is x..” Mr Max said jotting an alphabet on the board.
I felt Justin nudge me gently and i quickly opened up my eyes clearing up the drool from my face. Right!.. I had fallen asleep once again.
I rested on my cheeks as I listened to the math teacher again. I was already drained up and half of me was earning for home.
I looked at the clock on the wall for the hundredth time. Just a minute left before the bell will be rung for home.
Good lord, this is my second time drooling in clas-s. I should really learn to control that habit.
” You guys will group yourself into one party and solve this difficult equation for me. Your books must be on my table before as-sembly tomorrow, Clear?”
” Sir!” I raised my hand for a question.
” Yes, miss Ann?” He replied taking off his glas-ses.
” How many people nee-d to grouped?” I asked.
” Two or three people is enough.” He replied. Good..I don’t I have any problem. I’ll just join Justin group and leave him to solve the equation himself then bring it tomorrow.
The bell in the hallway was finally rung signifying the end of school day.
I stretched out my hand as I yawned tiredly before picking up my books into my bag. When I looked around, I saw that Justin had disappeared.
I looked up and saw he was already leaving the clas-s. I hopped my bag on my shoulder and ran to meet him in a haste.
” Hey!” I punched his arm but he didn’t flinch or turn to look at me. ” You’re always leaving me behind” I said.
” So what do you think I am to you now?.. A babysitter to stay and watch you pack your things so I can direct you home?” He asked, his voice sounding bias.
” Well I do believe friends walk home together” I said innocently. ” Do you have any siblings studying here?” I asked as we turned to the left to move down the exist corridor.
” Don’t ask me about them” he said sighing while pocketing his arm.
” You don’t have any siblings?” I dared, asking him about them again.
He just turned to look at me and looked away while smiling mischievously as if I said something amusing.
” Since today, when I knew you, I learnt one thing” he said.
” What?” I asked with hu-ge curiosity. I hope he had learnt something valuable.
” I learnt how to control my anger issues” he said with a visible sm-irk on his cheeks. I was the next to look at him dumbfounded.
We stopped at the school gate and he refused to go any further.
” Look..” he nudged his head ahead of us. I looked up and saw my mom waving at me from inside her car.
” Mom!!” I waved back at her jumping with true excitement. I looked around and found my brother coming along with his friends from the other end of the school building meant for junior high school students.
He stopped to tell his friends goodbye before approaching us.
” Hey big sis..” he said spa-nking the back of my bag before standing at the center of I and Justin. ” Woah… who’s this big guy?!” He trotted looking up at Justin.
I covered up his mouth and pushed him aside. ” He’s always like that sometimes” I said to Justin as-suring him with a fake big smile.
” Your mom is still waiting for you guys” he said pointing at my mom’s car parked at the other end of the road.
” Oh.. that’s true.” I said sighing, I don’t know if I’m ready to go now but I have to. ” Make sure you solve that equation before tomorrow okay?..”
” Yes ma’am” he said rolling his eyes. I walked forward and hu-gged him pas-sionately.
I wasn’t looking up at him but I could feel he was dumbstruck again. His body was quite stiff and fixed to a sp-ot.
I disengage from the hu-g and looked up at his beautiful rare eyes. I’m sure if he removed that hood he would look damn breathtaking.
I began to wave him goodbye.
” Goodbye Justin. I had a great day at school because of you!” I screamed as my brother rou-ghly dragged me towards the car.
He waved back without saying any words. But for the first time, his smiles reached his eyes. He didn’t smile with mischievousness or in a sm-irk like he’d always do.
I was glad I was slowly taking him out of his shell finally.

I stood there until their car drove away. I saw Anna still waving her hand out of the car window.
When their car drove out of sight, I pocketed my hands and began to walk away.
The road was quite busy so I had to stand in line to wait for a bus.
Luckily, a bus arrived quite quick and I got in quickly. I sat near the window and stayed there till i dozed off into a de-ep sleep.

” Hey!!..hey! Idiot!” I heard someone tapping my shoulder. I snapped out into reality while scru-b-bing my eyes.
” You’ve been in my bus for complete six hours, don’t you have a destination!!” It was the bus driver, a young man in his 60’s.
I sprang up quickly while taking up my bag around my shoulders.
” I’m really sorry. I’m totally sorry!” I apologized while running down the bus.
Shit!. It was already late in the night. Well it wasn’t a problem because I had no particular house of my own after all.
I began to walk around the busy street wearing my earphones.
The street was partially lighted with streetlight and the road was still damn busy with cars and people trooping from place to place.
I finally stopped in front of a bar smoldering with crazy insane humans dining their day out with alcohol and drugs.
I placed my earphones into my bag and brou-ght out my knife. A hu-ge sm-irk appeared on my cheeks as I stared at the shining object in my hand.
Without thinking twice, I hopped into the bar pretending to be an ordinary teenager who wanted to just check around the bar.
I head to the alcohol fountain and stood there examining the people around. The man beside me didn’t knew I was taking out his wallet out of his pocket.
As soon as I got his wallet, I ran out of the bar unnoticed. The reason for taking a knife was to actually kill the client if I was caught stealing.
I hid behind a close wall and opened the wallet, God…some dude could actually bring out their life savings to a bar..how foolish.
I kept the wallet into my pocket and took up my bag. I took a cab and drove to my friends bachelor’s apartment.
That’s where I had been spending my night since the day I was chased and disowned from the house, well that’s a story to explain later.
” Jade!” I turned on the light as I took off my shoes. I looked around and found him sitting at the couch fuming on a cigar while watching tv.
” Any thing yet?” He asked without taking his eyes off the screen.
” Just some pretty cash I stole from a bar” I replied tossing the wallet to him. He caught the wallet and peeked inside.
” Nice” he replied.
I climbed up the stairs and arrived at my room. I threw my bags at a corner and began to take off my shirt expo-sing the tattoo around my ne-ck and arm, that’s just the reason I put on a sweater.
I didn’t want anyone to figure out I had this disgusting image drawn over my skin. I hate it now and I hate how I look.
Everything about me is a mess!. My life is a mess!. Why would I want to bring anyone into my messed up life.
I fell on the bed arm spread as I thought about Anna. She was such an innocent girl but she wants to get into my already ruined life.
She’s totally making a bad choice and it would be my fault if her life gets ruined too.
Yet I’m suddenly feeling strange about her.

Anna?
It was almost eight, before dinner time. I had finished doing my homework, I had gotten a shower and now I was putting on a pink pajamas overall.
I tied my head in a bun while staring at the mirror.

I kept mumming this song until I heard my mom screamed my name from down the kitchen. I packed up my makeup stuff into its case before running out of the room.
” Yes mom” I replied leaning on the fridge.
” Come help me with the dishes quickly” she said. I as-sisted her while placing the food on the dinning table.
It was just I..my mom and my brother who lived alone in this hu-ge boring house. My dad works in the army for-ce. He only comes home once in a blue moon, at least when they are on a break.
We all sat around the table before we began to eat.
” Anna. How was your first day at school today?” My mom asked.
” It was so awesome” I mused with food still in my mouth. I swallowed it up and drank some water. ” It was my first day but I already made a new friend.”
” What her name?” She furthered.
” Her?” I asked blinking my eyes.
” Was it a boy?.. Anna..what did I tell you about making males your friend.”
” Mom..mom..I promise you that this one is very well behaved, he isn’t bad..and he’s really nice. I’m sure you’ll believe me when you meet him in person” I defended.
” Was it that big guy I saw you hu-gging today?” Zoey, my brother, chipped in. ” That guy looks like a jailbreak released prisoner” he laughed.
” Zoey!!” I screamed angrily. The last thing I wanted was to hear anyone abuse Justin. Everyone seem he’s a bad person..how bad could this guy be??.
” Anna. You guys will take the public transport to school tomorrow” my mom said and Zoey and I began to grumble. ” What’s the murmuring for?.. Are you guys not old enough to go to school on your own?!”
” It’s just that I hate standing and waiting in line in the bus stop.” Zoey complained.
” We’ll get use to it soon” she blistered.
I finished up the leftovers food and went upstairs to my room.
I jumped on my soft princess bed and scribbled my arm and leg like as if I was laying on a snow ground.
It’s been a wonderful day to be overly precise. I met a guy like Justin. I met the wicked principal daughter called Tiana.
I knew there where much adventure for me to come across in my school. I might find love and betrayal, I might have fun, there might be tears and failure.
All I know is…that I’m not also short.

My alarm clock rang again. I placed up my right hand and hit the freaking idiot down.
It was a beautiful Tuesday because I was ready to meet this silly Anna again. I had just dreamt about her and this damn alarm clock woke me up.
I sat up and ran my fingers into my hair in a s-×y way. My school uniform was hanging on the hanger line at the end of the room.
As soon as my foot tou-ched the ground, I dashed off in preparing for school.

The bus stopped to pick up the pas-sengers waiting at the side of the road. I was lucky to sit near the window again.
I justed my hood properly so that it could cover my ne-ck.
” I’m so sorry ma’am” I heard a familiar voice. That voice was able to send shivers down my spine.
I looked up from where I was sitting to see who it was and i got jaw dropped immediately.
Our eyes suddenly met and her mouth shaped into an O.
” Justin!!” She screamed waving her hand like a foreigner. She walked down the space in between the bus and sat next to me. ” Justin..oh my gosh!” She covered her mouth while staring at me.
Gosh..she was screaming my name too loud and now everyone was staring at us like a drama show.
” You didn’t come with your mom’s car” I said looking out the window.
” She wanted us to take the public transport which I’m beginning to love.” she said. ” Look Justin..it was as if fate want us together all the time”
” No.” I said sighing. ” Fate just want us to always sit next to each other”
It happened that no one sat next to me the whole time as if the space was meant for her.
” So..you are still with this hood again. Why don’t you just pull it off to feel some swoosh of air..” she said already tugging it down.
I quickly caught her hand and swamped it down with sort of repulse. I turned to stare at her with damn seriousness.
” You wouldn’t want to cause trouble with me in the bus today, would you?” I asked and she nodded her head. ” Good. Don’t ever go close to my hood or you won’t like what you’ll see.” I warned.
With that, she swallowed and didn’t say any more words. The bus stopped and we all came down walking into the school compound.
The school was still trooping in with students and some were hanging around the school yard.
I found Tiana and her friends standing at a visible place on the school porch talking her normal trash.
As soon as she sighted me, her mood quickly changed.
” Look now. They’ve began to come to school together like married couples” she spat referring to I and Anna.
” Tiana..if you like this Justin guy why don’t you just go tell him.” Ava, her best friend said.
” Mhm..Ava. I have more better plans, trust me”
” I trust you girl” ava said folding her hands.
I couldn’t hear what she was saying but I could definitely feel she was giving a reference to me or Anna.
” Anna..your hands..”
” Uh?”
I took her palm without any more long talk and crossed our fingers together while walking down the school corridor.
There was no single student who didn’t turn to look at us.
I wasn’t popular, I wasn’t the most handsome guy but I could cause a hu-ge turmoil in the school.
Today, I was going to make this Tiana damn jealous. I would show her that life isn’t about what you have, it’s about what you can do.
I stopped just a feet away from were Tiana and her friends were standing and turned to the confused looking Anna.
” You look absolutely amazing, Anna. Could there be any girl who could stand to beat your beauty?” I asked while smoldering my s-×y gazes at her.
” Uh?” She craved her brow out of embarras-sment. I bent down and whispered into her ears quickly.
” Just play along..”
I looked back at her and she smiled.
” Oh.. thanks” she replied adjusting her hair behind her hair shyly.
” You’ve been the reason for me to begin to love, Anna. If I could choose between the wealth of the world and you.. I’d choose you..” I said placing my hand around her wai-st. ” Would you give me the opportunity to express my love by ki-ssing you?”
I saw her eyes widen in disbelief again.
” Um..I..I..” she bit her lower li-p in embarras-sment as she looked down.
I tugged my head to one side to stare more at her while smiling s-×ily.
” O..okay” she replied but her face wasn’t sure a bit.
The hall became noisy because of us. They began to murmur with excitement.
I never knew I could cause this large crowd to stare at us. It was as if I had won a game of fans.
I brou-ght my face closer to ki-ss her but stopped halfway when I saw Tiana bursting her feet in the ground while walking away with annoyance.
The student around began to kill themselves laughing. Her friends ran along with her then the as-sembly bell was rung.
I turned to look at Anna and realized she was still staring at me with wide eyes. She must have been in awe with my sudden drama.
” Quit staring at me with wide eyes. Let’s move to the as-sembly..” I said walking away.
” Did you actually mean all the words you just said to me?” I heard her prim from behind.
I stopped in my tracks but didn’t turn.
” What if I did?..” I asked with a sm-irk behind my cheeks. Our voices were clear in an echo.
Everyone had deserted the hall and we were the only ones left.
” Do you actually love me then?”
I smiled mischievously and turned to face her.
” I don’t love you Anna. You are just a friend to me and that’s all” I said with a guilty mind.
