“But,,, Jake… Who do you love the most?” She asked in whisper, and brou-ght her masked face really close to his face.
“What?” Jake muttered.
The face shifter chuckled and scanned Jake’s eyes.
“Got it” She whispered.
Jake swallowed ha-rdwaiting for the worst to come.
“Tessa!” Connor suddenly screamed.
Jake quickly turned back and saw Tessa dissipating.
“What… What’s happening to me?” She stammered, looking at her hands which was magically vanishing to thin air.
“I’m scared. Jake, Connor, help me” She cried out.
Jake and Connor made to run to her but suddenly the rocks started falling again.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t do that” The Face shifter said.
“Tessa, Don’t worry. Just…just try and fight it. Remember, no power works on you” Connor said, frightened alre-ady.
Jake’s eyes were alre-ady teary and blood shotted. He gnashed his teeth and clenched his fist ti-ghtly in anger.
“I’m confused. I don’t know what’s happening. This isn’t supposed to happen” Tessa cried.
“It is,, sweet blood. As far, I have this face” The Face shifter said.
Everyone turned around in slow mo. Lo and behold was the face shifter who now had Tessa’s face.
And at once, the real Tessa finally disappeared. Connor screamed angrily.
“fu-ck!” Jake roared.
He went back to her. His eyes turned red immediately. His fangs came out.
“No, This isn’t the sword’s fight we planned” Face shifter wi-nked.
“Don’t dare wi-nk with her precious eyes. You promised you won’t hurt us! What did you just do to her!” Jake yelled.
“Nothing happened to her. Since I borrowed her face,, I decided to se-nd her far away. Don’t worry, I’ll bring her back”
“I’m gonna kill you” Jake uttered.
“If I were you,, I would be more worried about my life and powers here. They are the things at stake”
Jake bit his lower li-p angrily.
“Can’t believe she’s the one whom you love” She whispered, to-uching her face.
Jake said nothing. All he did was stare. He couldn’t hurt the person he was seeing now. Tessa?. It was weird but true.
He noticed something weird and looked around. Everyone, Connor, Mason and Mabel were alre-ady freezed.
“What did you do to them?” He scowled.
“Them? I wanted no distraction” She smiled.
A sword mysteriously appeared in their hands. Jake looked at it and then at her.
“You know what it means. We nee-d to fight in order for you to save your life. Also, I hope you won’t get distracted and just kill me when you have the chance” She said.
“You…devil” He gro-an ed.
“Anyways,, may the best fighter win” She said.
They both yelled and raced towards each other with their swords high above their ends.
Their swords eventually cli-cked together and Face shifter withdrew hers. She made to slice his stomach but Jake was quick in shielding it.
He kicked her legs and she fell down. He quickly stepped on her sword and kicked it far away.
She stood up quickly to run in order to pick it up but as soon as she turned, Jake placed the sword on her ne-ck.
“It wasn’t that ha-rdafter all. All I nee-d is to kill you,,, right?” He smi-rked.
She quickly turned around and knelt down. Jake’s sword didn’t leave the side of her ne-ck.
“Any last words-
“Don’t hurt me, Jake” She sobb£d, looking at his face.
“What?” Jake muttered.
“It’s me,,, Tessa… Don’t you… recognize me. It’s me. She lied. She didn’t steal my face. It really is me. You wanna kill me?” She said, softly.
“Te….ssa?” He whispered.
“Yes,,, Its me” She inhaled de-eply,, allowing tears run down her cheeks.
Jake swallowed ha-rdand narrowed his eyes. He saw the innocent look and her pure eyes looking at him.
He breathed de-eply and at once, the sword fell off his hand.
“I knew you wouldn’t let me die” She sobb£d and stood up. She hu-gged him ti-ghtly. Jake swallowed ha-rdand a tear ran down his eyes. He felt relieved.
“I told you not to get distracted, didn’t I?” She whispered to his ear.
Jake broke the hu-g and looked at her face.
“What?” He asked, puzzled.
Jake suddenly coughed and blood splattered from his mouth. He looked down to see her,, digging the sword into his stomach. She had swiftly picked it before hu-gging him.
He gagged and fell down.
“I warned you,,, buddy. You should have listened” She tapped his che-st.
Jake felt his life leaving him alre-ady. He sighed de-eply and to-uched his stomach. The sword was still there with blood dampening his clothes.
The face shifter laughed evilly before wearing back her mask. She clapped her hands and the rest got back to normal. Tessa also appeared.
“Jake?…Oh no” Connor muttered.
Jake gr-unted as Connor ran to him.
Mason tiredly la-id on the floor, watching the high cave. He was really weak now. The vemon was taking the worst of him.
“Jake!!!! No!!” Tessa yelled, crying aloud. She ran pas-s the boundary and the cave began to shake. hu-ge rocks mightily fell from the high cave.
She didn’t care. She was on her knees now,, begging Jake to stay with her.
“No, plea-se. Don’t die. I was just getting to know you!” She cried.
Jake coughed, and wiped her tears off.
“Don’t cry. It makes me really mad” He muttered, softly.
Connor stared at them and shifted back,, watching.
“Tessa,,, No!” Mabel shouted and stretched her hand forth as the falling rocks reached towards them.
“Guess y’all will have to die” The face shifter laughed.

Mrs Morgan took the lighter and slowly walked towards where Nora and Vera hid.
“fu-ck…No,, plea-se” Vera muttered while Nora closed her eyes ti-ghtly.
Vera saw her shadow and breathed heavily…
“Mrs!” Someone suddenly shouted.
Mrs Morgan stopped and turned to see a student waving to her. She narrowed her eyes and shook her head.
“You. What do you want? And what are you doing up here on this roof? I made it clear that no students,, whatsoever is allowed in here!” She shouted.
The student was a boy. He bowed his head down and looked up.
“I’m sorry but that’s my lighter” He said.
“What? Your lighter? What is a 18 year old using a lighter for!”
He didn’t reply. Rather, he scratched his head.
“Wait. Don’t tell me that you… smoke?”
He sighed and shrugged his shoulders.
“You caught me, Ma’am”
Mrs Morgan angrily shook her head, walked up to him and pu-lled his right ear.
“Let’s talk more in my office!” She yelled and dragged him.
She stopped brieftly and looked back, swerving her ne-ck. She sighed de-eply and walked away finally.

Nora came out of the hidden corner and sighed in relief.
“Thank goodness. That was a great call… But who was that?” She asked.
Vera walked out, folding her arms together. She looked de-eply at the door, in thoughts.

“How many hits were you given?” Vera asked.
“Just a few” He replied.
“Are you dumb? Why would you save me? I never asked you to!!” She yelled.
He chuckled.
“You looked like someone who nee-ded my help. I saw you almost smoking that cigarette. I should be the one asking you,, if you’re dumb”
“So annoying!” She blurted.
“Why are you doing this?” She asked.
He smiled warmly.
“Isn’t it obvious?”
Vera looked at him for a while and wi-dened her eyes.
“Why… why can’t I re-ad his mind? Does… he like me?” She thought.
“Hey!! You’d better not!” She bellowed.
“What?” He smiled.
“I like Jake,,, and not you Lucas. You aren’t even a quarter step into my standard,, got that!” She yelled, and his shoulder,, before leaving.
Lucas sighed de-eply and watched her leave.

Mrs Morgan interlocked her palms and placed her elbows on the table. She kept her head low.
“Dont worry,,, I’m gonna save you,, daughter” She whispered.
Suddenly,,, a loud screeching sound was heard….
