EPISODE 31
ANDREA
…………………
“Just give me a few minutes. I’m going to return Tori’s book to her.” I said to Tyler as we walked to his car at the end of school.
I remembered that I had borrowed Tori’s biology text book and she was going to nee-d it for her homework tonight.
“Sure, I’ll be waiting by the car.” Tyler replied.
I nodded my head and turned in the direction of the football field where Tori said she would be.
When I got closer, I saw her sitting on the bo-ttomof the bleachers talking to Stephanie. I walked over to them.
“Hi Stephanie.” I said when I reached where they sat.
Stephanie looked up at me and smiled. “Hi Emily.”
“You’ve got a next match coming up soon?” I asked her.
She nodded her head. “Yes, our next match is next week Friday. We’ll be pla-ying against an undefeated school, so we’re practicing everyday this week.”
“That’s cool. I hope you beat them.” I replied.
“That’s our plan.” She grins.
“Stephanie is very optimistic.” Tori interjected with a smile.
“Yeah and if we don’t win, at least we’ll know that we gave it our best sh0t.” Stephanie adds.
“Most definitely.” I agreed. I then dug into my bag for Tori’s book. “Here you go.” I said to Tori as I handed it to her.
“Thanks.” Tori said taking the book from me.
“Tyler’s waiting for me. I’ll see you guys okay?” I said.
Tori nodded her head. “Sure, see you.”
“Bye Emily.” Stephanie said.
I turned away from them and head back in the direction of the parking lot. Tyler and I had another pair as-signment to do and I was going over to his house today to do it.
On my way back to the parking lot, I run into Logan who was standing far away from the bleachers obviously waiting for me.
Before I could say anything, he demanded. “I saw you talking to Trisha earlier today. What did she tell you?”
“She told me all about you Logan. Why don’t you just cut the game now?” I replied.
Logan run his hands throu-gh his hair frustratedly. “Look, yes I was still advancing on Trisha, but only because you weren’t giving me a chance.” He explained. “But she doesn’t mean anything to me, only you. If we were a couple again, she or any other girl wouldn’t be in the picture anymore.”
I looked at Logan for a long time, trying to un-derstand him before it all c@m£ to me. “You know what I think Logan? I don’t think you care about me at all.”
“Yes, I do.” Logan interjected, interrupting me.
I shook my head. “No you don’t. You just loved the idea of us as a couple.” Logan remained quiet, so I continued. “What you nee-d to do now is admit it to yourself. Admit it and move on.”
“Is this because of Tyler?” He asked.
“No.” I conceded. “This is about you. You don’t know what you want, Logan but it’s definitely not me. Just let it go because we are never getting back together.”
As I said that, I stepped around him and left him standing there. I didn’t turn back to look at him once. I just continued walking until I reached the parking lot where Tyler stood waiting on me.

When we got to Tyler’s house and exit the car, I saw Tyler’s mother coming throu-gh the door “Hi Emily.” She greeted me when she saw us.
“Hi Rachel.” I returned.
Rachel turn to Tyler. “Tyler, I’m going out for a few minutes. I’ll be back soon.” As she said that, she entered her car and drive away.
“Let’s go.” Tyler said as he walked over to the front door of the house.
When we entered the living room, I sat down on the couch and got out my books from my bag so that we can start our as-signment.
An hour later, we were finished with our as-signment. I stand up from the couch I was sitting on and stretched my so-re lim-bs. As I stretched, my eyes caught a picture on the credenza over in the corner of the living room. I couldn’t see the picture clearly, but it looks like a picture of Tyler standing with his father.
“I haven’t seen that picture before.” I said as I walked over to it.
Tyler who was still sitting on the couch looked up at me. “What picture?”
I pointed my f!nger to the credenza. “That picture.”
Tyler spun his head around to where I pointed. He then stand up quic-kly moving into that direction. “It’s a picture of my dad and I. You don’t nee-d to see it.”
I lifted my eyebrow in a curious gesture. “Why?” He didn’t answer me, he just continued for the picture. I laughed. “Now I definitely wanted to see it.”
I was much closer to the picture than Tyler, so I reached it in time and took it up. He tried to gr-ab it from my hands, but I moved my hand away. “Okay you can see it, but do not laugh.”
I grinned at him. “I promise I won’t laugh.” I walked back over to the couch with the picture in my hand. I sit down and got a better look at it. Tyler sat back down on the couch as well.
In the picture was Tyler and his father. It looked like they had gone fishing because Tyler stood with a fish in his hand. His father stood beside him with his hand on his shoulder. Tyler was young in the picture, but that was not what caught my attention about him.
First of, I had to look long and ha-rd to see that it was Tyler. The boy in the picture didn’t look like him at all. The boy had a head of curly hair that was hanging in his eyes. He was smiling wi-dely showing the br@ces that he was wearing. This Tyler in the picture was the complete opposite of the Tyler I knew now.
I looked at Tyler. “How old were you in this picture?”
“I was twelve years old.” He answered.
“How haven’t I seen this picture before?” I asked.
“It wasn’t here before. My dad had it. He brou-ght a copy for me when he c@m£ here on Saturday. He said this was his favourite.”
I looked at the picture again and smiled. He looked so adorable in this picture. “I didn’t know you wore br@ces.” I commented.
Tyler sighed. “Yeah, I got br@ces when I was ten years old. I wore it for four years. I got it re-moved when I started high school.”
“Look at you, you were such a nerd.” I said teasing him.
“No I was not.” Tyler denied.
“Oh yes you were, but what’s the problem? It’s not so bad. You look so cute.” I said still grinning.
“It’s bad and I wasn’t a nerd.” He insisted.
“Okay. Whatever you say…nerd.” Tyler glared pla-yfully at me and I bur-st into laughter. It was so fun to tease him.
I was so caught up with laughing that I didn’t realize when Tyler reached for me. Not realizing that I was on the edge of the couch, I moved back away from him and of course I fell on the carpeted floor.
Tyler looked over the edge of the couch at me. “Are you okay?”
“I’ll live.” I replied before Tyler started laughing.
Still on the floor, I glared up at him. “It’s not that funny.” I said.
“Oh yes it is.” He replied as he continued to laugh.
I smiled. It was kind of funny. I stood up from the floor and the next thing I know, I was laughing at my clumsiness as well.
Just then the doorbell rang.
I looked over at Tyler. “St©p laughing at me now and go answer the door.” I said still giggling.
“Fine, but you’re still not going to get away with calling me a nerd.” He said, turning away with a smile on his face. I shook my head at him and sat back down on the couch.
As he reached the front door, he pu-ll-ed it open. On the other side of the door stood a girl I didn’t know. The smile that was previously on Tyler’s face disappeared as he looked at her.
From where I sat, I could see her. She was tall with shining dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. She stood confident with a small smile on her face. All in all, as I continued to look at her, I couldn’t deny it; she is a really beautiful girl.
Her smile stretch a little bit more. “Hello Tyler.” She said finally.
“Hello Andrea.” Tyler said in a bland tone of voice.
Andrea?

EPISODE 32
BACK AGAIN
……………………..
Tyler’s POV
“Hello Andrea.” I replied looking at her, wondering if she was actually standing here.
But she was indeed standing on the doorstep, smiling as if she had forgotten what she did two years ago. She looked every bit the same as she did before she left.
“What are you doing here?” I demanded.
She lifted her eyebrows curiously at me. “Is that how you’re going to greet me after not seeing me for almost two years?” She asked. “Come on, let me in.”
“What are you doing here?” I repeated, not giving her an invitation to come in.
Ignoring my question, she shift her head to the side to look behind me. “Who’s that?” She asked.
Realizing that Emily was still sitting on the couch in the living room, I turned around to look at her. She stood up and walked over to the door.
“I think I better go, Tyler.” She said.
“No stay.” I said. Andrea was going to leave soon anyway. I had not intention of keeping her here for long.
However, Emily shook her head. “No, I have to get home anyway. I’ll talk to you later.”
Before I could protest further, she stepped pas-sed me and Andrea and walked away in the direction of her house.
Feeling annoyed at Andrea being here right now, I focused my attention back to her. “I don’t want to talk to you Andrea, so you better leave.”
Andrea tilt her head to the side. “Who was that?” She demanded again.
“Her name is Emily and she’s my girlfriend.” I responded.
“Hm…” Andrea gave a short hum. “I never expected you to be d@t!ngsomeone like her.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” I demanded feeling my anger rise. She doesn’t have a right to talk about Emily like that or comment on who I should and shouldn’t d@t£.
She shrugged her shoulders. “Nothing.” She replied. I stood quietly waiting for her to go, when she added. “Can you plea-se let me in for at least five minutes? I promise I’ll go after that.”
I thought about it for a few seconds. If I didn’t let her in, she would not leave and I don’t want her to stay here longer than she has to. “Okay. Two minutes. That’s it.” I replied. I stepped aside from the doorway and she entered. I then closed the door after her. She turned around to face me. “Now for the final time, why are you here?”
She looked up at me and sighed. “My parents moved back here and I c@m£ to see you.” She explained, then added quietly. “I missed you.”
“Well, it’s too late for that now. I don’t want to see you.” I said. “What happened to your new b©yfri£ndby the way?”
“You mean Steven?” She asked. She then looked directly at me, before adding. “Steven was a mistake. I’m really sorry, Tyler. I shouldn’t have left you. But I’m here now, I want us to give it another try.”
“I don’t think so.” I said crossing my arms.
“Why?” She asked as if it wasn’t obvious.
“Andrea, you left me without giving an explanation and then started hanging out with your new b©yfri£nd. You didn’t say a word to me. You acted as if my feelings didn’t matter.” I relied. “And besides, I’m d@t!ngsomeone else now.”
“I’m sorry Tyler. I said I made a mistake.”
“Yeah well, what’s done is done.” I said. “Also, your two minutes is up.”
Andrea crossed her arms over her che-st and stared at me for a long time, before saying. “Okay, if that how you feel.” She turned and walked towards to door.
As she opened the door, she looked at me one final time and smiled. She then went throu-gh the door and closed it behind her. I sat down on the couch and closed my eyes, running my hand over my face.
Good. Hopefully, she will leave me alone now, I thought to myself.
When I opened my eyes again, I noticed Emily’s bag on the couch. She left so fast that she didn’t notice that she was leaving it.
I sat on the couch for about two minutes when I heard the front door being opened again. I looked up to see Mom coming throu-gh the door.
“I just saw Andrea leaving. She looks so grown up now.” Mom commented when she closed the door. She was carrying a bag of groceries in her hands. “Can you help me put away the groceries, Tyler?”
I stood up from the couch and took the grocery bag from her and walked to the kitchen. When Mom c@m£ into the kitchen behind me, she said. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner that Andrea and her parents were moving back here. Her mother called me last night, but I didn’t get the chance to tell you.”
I placed the bag on the counter and turn to face Mom. “That’s okay, Mom. It’s no big deal.”
“What did she want with you anyway?” Mom asked as she starts unpacking the bag.
“She wanted us to be together again.” I answered and Mom looked around at me. “But that’s not going to happen.” I went on.
“I can un-derstand that. She did break it off with you and you’re with Emily now anyways.” Mom replied. We continued to unpacked the groceries and then Mom spoke again. “I was worried about you after you and Andrea broke up.”
“Why? I was fine.” I claimed.
Mom gave me a look that says, ‘I’m no fool’. “No, you were not. I know you. You think I don’t know why you’ve changed. A few months after the break up, you started having all these different girls over. That’s why I started to worry, because you were spiralling into the wrong path, against how I raised you.” Mom relayed, then added. “I also had no intention of raising any babies. I don’t plan on being a grandmother anytime soon.”
“Yes Mom, I know.” I replied. I knew how disappointed she was in the way I was acting.
Mom then smiled knowingly at me. “I’m not as worried anymore though. You’ve changed. I can see it.” She said. “Come on, help me get dinner started.”
++++++
That night, I l@yin my be-d wi-de awake.
I thought that Emily was going to realize that she left her bag and c@m£ back for it, but she didn’t.
And for some reason, I wanted her to. I wanted to see her. I thought about bringing it to her, but decided against it.
Wanting to see her now after what happened, I got up from my be-d and walked over to my be-droom window. I opened it and looked over at Emily’s room. However, I saw that her window was closed and the curtains pu-ll-ed together. The light was on in her room, she I knew she wasn’t asleep as yet.
I took up a bottle t©p from my be-dside table and walked over to my window again. I threw it lightly on her window, just enough to attra-ct her attention.
A few seconds later, Emily pu-ll-ed back her curtains and pu-ll-ed her window up. She looked over at me. “Hey.”
Realizing that I actually didn’t have anything to say, I said simply. “Hi.” We were quiet for a second, before I add. “I have your school bag. You left it here.”
“Yeah, I realized that I left it when I got here, but I didn’t want to interrupt your talk.” She said, then added. “I take it that was Andrea who you were telling me about.”
I nodded my head. “Yes, that’s her.”
“What is she doing here?”
“She and her parents moved back here today.” I answered.
“Oh.” Emily said before becoming quiet again. “Well, you can bring my bag tomorrow, okay?” She said after a while of silence.
“Okay sure.” I said.
She smiled a little. “Good night. See you tomorrow then.”
“Good night.” I said as she turn away from her window.
