Some days later
Skylar
“Victoria has the table been set” my mom said
“Yes mom” Victoria replied
“Skylar how’s the chicken” she asked me
“Great ” I said
“Clark you’re not 6 stop stuffing your mouth with dough” she said to Clark
“Ok mom” Clark replied with a dough filled mouth
“Mom stop stressing” I said
“Uh my in-laws are coming over” she replied
“In-laws mom me and Liam are not yet married” I said
“But you’ll be soon” she said
I scoffed
“Now go up and get dressed we’ll be expecting them any minute now” she said pushing me up
“Okay” I said whilst going up
Once I got to my room I called Liam

He hung up the call and I crashed on the bed
Everything felt so wrong and for the fact that Liam did nothing didn’t fail to annoy me
I prepared for the dinner with the family
I went downstairs to find Liam already seated
He stole a glance at me before turning away
“What took you so long Sky?” my mom asked
“I kinda didn’t keep track of time” I said
Me and Liam were made to sit next to each other and our mothers directly opposite us the Clark and Victoria occupied the parallel sides of the table Along with Liam’s dad
Our mom’s chatted whilst constantly asking us questions

Clark tried to start a conversation with Liam on Which he succeeded since he was relentless
Our moms then turned to us
“So we’ve decided ” Liam’s mom said
“On what ” Liam said
“On the wedding and engagement venue” my mom said
“Huh” I said my mouth with food
“The engagement will be held here and the wedding at New York City we’ll cover all flight expenses for any family friends or invitees” Liam’s mom said
My mom suddenly coughed
“Are you alright mom?” I asked passing her the water while Victoria gently patted her back
“I’m okay” she said
“I’ll be leaving for a business meeting now ” Liam’s dad said
“Oh back to the city” my mom said
“Yes Layla darling let’s go” he said
“We’ll talk over the phone to plan everything out ” they said as the kissed each other on both cheeks
“I’ll be off” Liam said
“Oh Skylar could you take Liam on a tour round the town” my mom said
“Yes mom” I said
”But..” he said but I cut him short by stepping on his toe intentionally
I dragged him out
“What the hell Skylar ” he said but I placed my hand over his mouth

“Look Liam I just don’t want my mom getting wrapped up I all this she just recovering so please you can yell at me after or when we’re on the plane to new York City but please just tolerate me until you or we Both leave” i said
“What” he said
“Please Liam I beg you I just don’t need anymore problems”
He nodded reluctantly
“We should get going you know for the walk” I said
“I don’t need the tour,If I needed it I’ll get a tour guide” he said
”I just want to you know do what my mom asked just help just this once I’ve sacrificed for you Liam please”

Chapter 43 & 44
Skylar
We walked through the city in silence
I felt rather scared to start a conversation
Liam just walked with his head down
“Skylar ” I heard my name being called
I turned to see who it was
“Mrs woodsworth,how are you doing” I exclaimed
“Oh the usual,but you, you’ve grown so big and this young man next to you ,hmm is he your fiance” she said coming over
“Something like that” I replied
“Hurry and get married your mom’s not getting any younger and you know her health condition how is she by the way” she said
“She’s fine” I replied
“So I’ll let you carry on with whatever you were doing” she said
We resumed walking
“You’re sort of popular around here” Liam said
“I grew up here duhh” I said
He gave no reply
“Now let me give you a proper tour” I said
I started pointing to buildings and explaining what they were he didn’t seem much interested
“This is rather was my high school” I said
“Okay” he replied
“Besides the school is throwing an homecoming party,will you go with me” I said
“No ” he replied
“Oh come on this is the first time I asked you to go with me somewhere and you don’t want to it’s just not fair” I said
“The answer’s still no, no matter how you put it, no” he said
“Jerk,what do you have to do then” I said keeping the conversation in whispers
“I’m flying back to new York ” he replied
“What about me ” I said
“Well when you’re ready to come I Book your plane ticket” he Said
“Fine,when are you flying back” I replied
“Soon like a day or two from now” he said

“What this building that I always seem to see no matter how much I try not to,I could even see it from my hotel room ” he inquired
“Oh it’s the lighthouse ” I said
“A lighthouse huh” he replied
“It’s been standing for more than five decades now before lamp posts came to the city it gave light at night” I said
“Some history” he said walking away

“Where else ,into the lighthouse”

“Oh you can’t go because of your acrophobia (fear of heights)”

For the first time Liam actually apologized

“I was five, Victoria was two and Clark was still a baby,it was on my birthday I’d Begged my dad to take me up and he did,I couldn’t see properly because I was so short and he held up in his hands and showed me the city it was beautiful , just as he wanted to put me down,his asthma acted up for no reason and we were trying to find his inhaler the ye jerked suddenly and fell all the way down,I still can’t help but think it was all my fault” I said wiping tear from my eyes
“I’m sorry Skylar I shouldn’t have asked, it’s not your fault though”
“But it is if I hadn’t”….
“It wasn’t ”he said and patted my back
“Come with me” he said
“What where” I replied
“We’re going up ” he said
“Didn’t you hear what I just said ” I said
“Oh I heard, but you have to conquer that fear” he replied

For the first time Liam actually cared
I reluctantly followed him up we got to the very top and I got dizzy
My head was spinning I started remembering everything my whole body froze I felt numb
I felt a hand on my shoulder which slowly pulled me into a hug
“It’s alright” Liam said
