I drove furiously
That bastard

We landed at the Airport which was maybe kinda private I didn’t see much people around
“Let’s go ”he said as he lead me to the car
“Give the driver the location and I’ll drop you off” he said
I gave the driver the location and turned to Liam
“What do you exactly mean by drop me off” I said
“You heard me” he said staring at his phone
“So you’re staying at a hotel” I said
“Yeah” he replied
“Well that’s good for you” I said fixing my eyes on something outside the window
Harrisburg PA hasn’t changed that much the buildings that I found big just looked a bit smaller compared to the ones in New York City
It was after all same old Harrisburg
We drove for some hours before the driver pulled up at my house
I took my luggage Down Liam didn’t even help me
Victoria was the first to come out followed suit by Clark
“Skylar I missed you oh my gosh you’ve changed so much tell me everything about New York” she said
“We should go inside” I said
“Mum missed you more than us” Clark said with his hands in his pockets
“Hey she just got back ” Victoria said
“It’s alright Vic,how’s mum” I said
“She still recuperating but she’s in the hospital” he said
“Everything will be fine I said putting a han on his shoulder”
Liam whose car was there ever since finally drove away
I went in with my siblings
“So first thing is to meet Mum”
“Sky I get that you want to meet mum but you just got back rest up and then we’ll go” Victoria said
“She’s right, it better to see mum when you don’t have obvious dark circles under your eyes from tiredness” Clark added
“Dark circles, alright I’ll rest up but I’m going to the hospital forst thing tomorrow morning” I said
“Agreed” they chorused in unison

We approached the ward where my mom was in
She lay on the bed with her eyes partly open
Clark and Victoria rushed to her
“She woke up last night ” the nurse by her bedside said as she left the room
“Skylar” she said looking up at me
“Mom” I replied
“You came” she said as I walked towards her
She tried to sit up slowly
“Mom please don’t, you need to rest ” I said
“I need to get a better look at my daughter” she said
“You just woke up mom, please rest ” I said
“It’s been close to two years since I last saw you Sky” she said
“We’ll catch up later now you need to rest ” Clark said
“Yeah I’ll go settle the bill with the doctor and then asked when you can be discharged” I said
“Are you leaving again Sky” she asked
“No mom not yet I’ll be here for some Time” I said
She gave me a wry smile
I went to the doctor and he asked me to give the money to the receptionist and also told me that mom would be discharged tomorrow morning
I went back to the ward
“Mom you’re free to go tomorrow according to the doctor ” I said leaning against the open door
“Really” Victoria and Clark both said in unison
“We’ll stay with you until Then I don’t have anything better to do anyway ”
“Oh Sky once I’m out this bed the first thing I’ll do is hug you real tight”
“Ok mom I’ll go get you some food” I said
I got a call from Liam
“Hello” I said as I answered the phone
“Where are you ” he asked
“At the hospital why do you ask” I replied
“Nothing my mom called asking about you and your mom’s health I just wanted to know what I’ll tell her” he said
“Well my mom’s fine and so am I in case she asked” I replied
“I’ll make sure to let her Know” he said
“Ok ” I replied and he hung up
I can’t wait for the day when all this contractual relationship stuff will end
I bought the food from a roadside vendor and went back inside
Clark was out and Victoria left as I came when she received a phone call
I sat near mom and touched her face gently
“I missed you mom” I said
“I feel like it’s been ages since I last saw you,you’ve changed Sky, you’ve changed” she said
“I forgot how much I hate the smell of Harrisburg hospitals I still hate it though ” I said
She chuckled
“One of the reasons you went for law was it” she said
“Partially,I’ve forgotten a lot of things, like the quiet sounds of our street which one can rarely see in New York,for once I can say I’ll sleep peacefully” I said
She said nothing and just smiled
“What I miss the most Is the taste of your dishes especially that signature lasagna and those cookies you make on Christmas that I bet just the scent will get me twirling” I said
“Of course I guess you’ve had too much of those NY takeouts you now need homemade dishes, I’ll whip up some when we get home” she said
“Just the thought already makes me hungry” I replied
