episode 39
Kim has been on a high spirit since abudul drove in her new ride into her compund, she was so happy that she had to dash the driver five thousand naira to use as transport money back to the office….Her gate man wasn’t an exceptional, he noticed how his madam played song from the new car and danced and he was convinced in his spirit that the car belong to her.
he moved closer and congratulated her, Kim pause the music so she could hear her gate man very man.
she thanked him for his concern and tipped him two thousand to buy himself a bottle of mineral since she knows he doesn’t take alcohol…..the gate man took the money happilly and went back to his duty post.
Kim decided to go inside and complete her celebr@tion all by herself.
she wanted to call her sister to tell her of the good news, but she kicked against it saying ” I have to let her be for now, Clarissa would never learn if I keep showing up and cleaning her mess for her, let her clean her own shit this time around” . She went to her wine bar and took a bottle of whiskey and a glas-s cu-p
she poured some in the cu-p and turn on music.
she started to dance and celebr@te her new car.
After Derrick called his brother and told him he was been followed, he thought of a best distraction, the best place he could go that would make his mother stop monitoring him, then Kimberly crossed his mind, he took his phone and dialed her number but Kim was too engrossed in her music and wine that she didn’t hear her phone ring.
Derrick decided to take the bull by the horn by going to her house without calling her, as he kept driving he notice the person in the other car was still following him, he acted normal so the person won’t suspect he already knows his been followed.
some minutes later he arrived at Kim’s apartment, he horn at the gate and the gate man went outside to check who it was….. immediately he remembered him, it was the guy that dashed him twenty thousand naira on Sunday when he was about leaving.
without argument he opened the gate for Derricksl and ushered him inside to meet kim.
He got to the door and went back to his duty post, Derrick knocked and knocked but Kim didn’t hear, the music was too loud so he had to push the door open.
He took there for close to ten minutes watching her twer-k and whine her wai-st without her noticing his presence.
He got tired of waiting so he moved closer and grabbed her by the wai-st.
That frightened Kim and made her to stop dancing immediately, she turn to see who would have the guts to touch her like that.
She was very surprised when she saw Derrick.
KIMBERL
Derrick, how did you get here? I mean how long have you been here?
(she said turning off the music)
DERRICK
(Released her wai-st)
long enough to notice someone is very happy and can dance too.
KIMBERLY
(She suddenly felt shy)
why didn’t you call me before coming? what if I wasn’t at home?
DERRICK
Check your phone…..it seems I’m not welcome today, maybe I will just go and come back another time.
He said and made to leave but Kimberly grabbed his arms immediately.
KIMBERL
Are you kidding me? you came at the right now, as you can see I’m very excited today, seat and have some drinks with me please
she said pushing him to fall in the sofa, Derrick chuckled seeing that the little princess was already feeling tipsy.
DERRICK
wow, wow so you nee-d to tell me what we are celebr@ting
KIMBERLY
Are you kidding me, didn’t you see my new ride parked outside?
DERRICK
Really? maybe I was too excited to see you that I forget to take notice of the car.
KIMBERLY
Don’t flatter me please, come I will show you.
she said pulling him up from the sofa and dragging him outside.
KIMBERLY
Tell me, she’s beautiful right?
DERICK
(He giggles)
you have already leballed her a “she”?
KIMBERLY
(She laughed robbing her hand on the car)
that’s because it belongs to a girl and not a “he”
DERRICK
(This time he laughed ha-rd)
indeed she’s really beautiful, so I tell you what, why not go inside, freshen up so we can go out and celebr@te this baby of yours
KIMBERY
(She smiled de-eply)
are you asking me out on a date?
DERRICK
(He smiled)
I didn’t see it that way, but if it makes you comfortable then yes, it’s a date.
KIMBERLY
(She smiled)
okay, I will just freshen up okay
she ran inside leaving derrick outside, Derrick helped himself inside and waited for her in the living room.
Marcel closed the door and came to stand in front of clarrisa, he wanted her to stare the reason why she had come to see him.
CLARISSA
I am very sorry for the way I reacted on Sunday and even last night…..please forgive me
MARCEL
I’m trying to get something straight, why were you so cold toward me? what did I do?
CLARISSA
Nothing, I was just being stupid, please forgive me, you didn’t deserve that.
MARCEL
it was because of Benjamin right? you avoided me because of Benjamin, tell me what kind of friendship are we into if anytime any of your exs comes back into your life and you just push me away like I didn’t matter.
she dropped the plate of food in her hand and held Marcel’s cheeks
CLARISSA
I’m so sorry Marcel, I wasn’t expecting something new from Benjamin, it was just that I had an argument with Kim that very Sunday, and it was a wrong timing for you and I’m so sorry…. please forgive me
MARCEL
(He took her hands from his cheeks)
“a wrong timing”? and that lasted for two days? common clarrias-s, tell me something else.
CLARISSA
(She was silent for awhile)
okay honestly, seeing Benjamin again and having him come at me strongly made me to realized how much I still cared for him, how much I wish his explanation would make me forget the six years of hurt….but like always he turns out to be like the rest.
(she said crying)
Marcel suddenly felt pity for her, he wanted to pull her closer and tell her he wasn’t mad at her, he wanted to tell her how badly this pas-s days have been without her in it…..but he couldn’t do that without telling her the gospel truth, he has come to realize that Clarissa is a hunter or love, she’s desperate to fall in love and be loved in return, she hasn’t really learn from her lesson and that’s why anytime she sees something fake she quickly conclude is love and real.
MARCEL
if I will be honest with you Rissa, you can never be happy if you continue like this, that love you secretly pray and hope to get, you can never find it because your heart is open to the wrong direction.
CLARISSA
(She stopped crying and stare at him)
How do you mean?
MARCEL
You are too innocent and naive to notice that people will always work and play with your emotions according to the way you serve it….for example look at Kim, she’s a kind of woman any man would want, you know why? she’s tough, unpredictable, you never can tell what’s she’s thinking, if she’s crushing on you or not…..she’s just she, always in control….i’m sorry to tell you men don’t like the emotional soft ladies drama anymore, they like it when their woman is in control, when she knows when to stop.
if you keep accepting whatever that walks throu-ghthis heart as love, then I’m sorry to say you will continue to get brutally hurt.
clarrias-s was already cold to her feet, her eyes filled with tears, just a few months and Marcel too already knows of her weakness, he already knows how much she crave for love…..Marcel moved closer to her and hu-gged her.

it was really a beautiful outing for Derrick and Kim, derrick never thought in his wildest imagination that Kim would ever make him this happy or even laugh this ha-rd…..kim on the other hand too couldn’t deny the fact that Derrick is not just a charming young man, but a very funny one at that.
KIMBERLY
Honestly, I never saw you like the funny type you know
DERRICK
(He sipped his wine)
really? why so?
KIMBERLY
Well, judging from the way you reacted that day at my sister’s place, I just concluded you are the Mr “no nonsense man”
DERRICK
(He laughed)
honestly, I wasn’t myself that day….but wait how can you just judge me by my one time action?
KIMBERLY
You know the saying that goes “first impression is a charm”?
DERRICK
(He giggles)
Okay I apologise for my actions then, you know I can actually say the same for you too.
KIMBERLY
How do you mean? I’m the live of the party, I’m always smiling, happy, you can’t even tell when I’m sad.
DERRICK
That’s what I’m saying, very unpredictable.
KIMBERLY
(she smiled)
I guess that’s my charm…
she checked the time and sighned.
DERRICK
you are tired already?
KIMBERLY
Tired? that’s not possible but I just remembered I will be traveling tomorrow to kano and I haven’t even parked yet.
DERRICK
You are travelling? ouch why do I suddenly feel sad?
KIMBERLY
(She smiled)
awwwn that’s so sweet, but I really have to travel else you will hear this beautiful lady went for jail.
DERRICK
(Confused)
how do you mean?
KIMBERLY
Never mind….can we just go home please?
DERRICK
Alright, I will just clear the bills.
He called a waiter and he demanded for their bill, the waiter went to comfirm it then brou-ght the bill to him, he paid and they left.
Mrs Elizabeth was getting frustrated that the guy she asked to follow her son her not called her since evening, she called his number but he wasn’t picking his calls….”I thought Mirabelle said this guy is good at what he does, how come his behaving like this”? she snapped.
Mr Mason who was just coming from the living room heard what his wife said but he didn’t want to jump into conclusion, he sat on the bed staring at his wife for a while before he spoke.
MASON
honey, which guy were you referring to just now?
MRS ELIZABETH
Huh? what guy?
MASON
I don’t know, if my ears weren’t playing tricks on me I’m sure I heard you mention a guy that Mirabelle referred him to.
MRS ELIZABETH
oh, sorry is a new mechanic, you know how that stupid Peter has been repairing my cars yet they still get faulty, I decided to try the one Mirabelle told me about.
MASON
(He stare at her for a while)
for you own good I hope you are saying the truth….you have always known me to be a very loving and peaceful man, and I have kept my name this long for that.
MRS ELIZABETH
Please I don’t un-derstand what you mean, are you trying to say I’m not a peaceful woman? are you trying to say I’m the one who is spoiling the name of this family?
MASON
I never said that woman, I’m just telling you to be careful.
MRS ELIZABETH
you know what? I can’t deal with this right now….I nee-d to go see if my son is back.
she said and got up, Mason knew the kind of woman he married and what she is cable of doing, among all the girls that danced in the palace that day, something about her struck him so strong that he couldn’t resist her.
he made her his choice, the king his late father did some digging and found out Elizabeth came from a family of gangstars… nothing good ever come from the family, they asked him not to marry her but it was love at first sight, he couldn’t stop loving her, so against all odds he went ahead and married Elizabeth…..ever since then he has been very careful of his wife but that doesn’t reduce his love for her at all.
immediately Mrs Elizabeth got downstairs her phone beef, she hissed seeing the person that had texted
“I have been following your son since morning and I haven’t seen him gone any place strange, right now following them to his girl’s place”
she wondered what girl he was talking about ” Derrick has a girl and I’m not aware of? I will come to that later.
she texted him back “make sure you leave my son’s trail after you see him entering this compound, my feelings are never wrong, my sons are playing with fire”
Derrick drove into Kimberly’s compound, it was already late so he didn’t want to go inside again.
he came down from the car and helped her to open the car door
KIMBERLY
such a gentleman
DERRICK
I will take that as a compliment….so how long are you staying in kano?
KIMBERLY
maybe two days depending how fast I’m able to sign the deal I’m going there for.
DERRICK
So, I’m guessing you will be back in days time?
KIMBERLY
yeah….i have to go now.
DERRICK
Alright, goodnight kim…..it was a beautiful evening with you
KIMBERLY
I enjoyed myself too and I’m hoping we can do this again.
DERRICK
Sure, I will call you.
He opened his arms and Kim filled them with hers, they hu-gged for a while before they released each other and Derrick entered his car and drove away.
After Marcel has tried to calm clarrias-s down from crying, she just wouldn’t stop crying, so he decided to sing her a song,
that made her feel better, she smiled and blus-hed at every sweet words he said to her.
After a while she felt real good and better so she got up and took the plate of food she brou-ght earlier, she tou-ched it and found out it was already cold, she went to the kitchen and microwaved it.
Marcel joined her in the kitchen there, he stood by the door staring at her and she noticed.
CLARISSA
What?
(she said smiling)
MARCEL
I’m just taking notice of a beautiful woman
CLARISSA
Stop flattering me please
MARCEL
I’m not, you are indeed a beautiful woman
CLARISSA
(the microwave beef)
let’s go and eat please.
she said and carried her plate of food, Marcel helped her with spoons and cu-ps.
