Chapter One
“Lis,lis..”.Melissa heard someone called as she
jolted out of her sleep,pa-nting
“Lis,are you okay?”.Elle,her mom asked
“No mom.It’s the weird dream again”.she said
staring at her
“You have to attend Empire Falls dear”.Her mom
said holding her hands
“No mom”.She said je-rking her hands away from
hers.”I can’t.I’m not supernatural and I don’t
want to become one”.Lis said as her mom
became sad
“Please lis,for my sake.The nightmare I’d getting
worse day by day.Look at yourself.You don’t look
good”.Elle said looking at her daughter worriedly
“Okay mom.I’ll think about it and I’ll agree when
I know I’m not an ordinary human”.Lis said
“Okay.Get ready for school.Breakfast is already
on the table”Elle said and stood up to leave
“Okay”.Lis said as Elle went out and she sighed

Hi guys,my name is Melissa hu-ghes,I’m 19 years
old and I attend starlake high school.I’m the only
child of my parents and I’m really disciplined.My
parents always tells me that the world I’d cruel
and I shouldn’t trust anyone.There was a day
they told me about me been a supernatural being
and I was a kind of person who doesn’t believe
in all those stuffs.I kept having weird nightmares
about a girl and I fighting and my parents,especia
lly my mom kept begging me to attend Empire
Falls which was a supernatural school.My life is
kind of boring because I don’t have friends or
siblings to talk to.even my parents and I are not
really close.They do go out in the morning and
come back late at night so they don’t have time
for me.I thinks that’s enough,you will know more
about me as we continue the ride

Lis got to school and went straight to clas-s
without glancing at anyone.She brou-ght out a
novel from her bag and began reading it,waiting
for their teacher to arrive.She felt a figure beside
her and turned to see Caleb Brooks,the most
handsome,se-xy,hot guy in our school ever
“Hi beaut”.He said sm-irking and she just ignored
him.Yes she did that because she was told not
to trust anyone.she turned to face the novel she
was reading and felt his hand on her shoulder
“Don’t pretend you don’t like me.Just admit it
and stop playing ha-rd to get”.He said and she
looked at his hand disgustingly.she took in all my
anger and breath in and out.He moved his hand
from her shoulders to her ne-ck and started
stro-king it seducively.she couldn’t take it
anymore.she stood up in anger as a for-ce builded
inside her
“What’s your problem,answer me.Can’t you go
meet other girls in the clas-s.I’m I the only one in
this school.Please be warned.I don’t wanna fight
you”.She half yelled
“Ooh.I like that.ha-rd to get huh?”.He said
dragging her closer as the for-ce in her released
and she watched him fly across the clas-s as all
the students gasped in shock

Chapter Two
Caleb flew across the clas-s as all the students
gasped in shock.He Gr0-ned in pains as he
landed on the floor and all the students rushed
to him while Lis just stood at her sp-ot,looking
shocked
“What have you done?” A student yelled at her
jolting her back to life
“W..what d…did,I..I didn’t do anything”.Lis
stuttered
“Then why is he laying there?”.She yelled as Lis
got angry
“I said I didn’t do anything”.She said in anger as
the students gasped again
“Her hair and eyes”.A student whispered and she
looked at her hair.It was red
Red,how come?,what I’m I going to do
She quickly took her bag from her chair and ran
out of the clas-s,not knowing where she’s
heading to.
The students helped Caleb to the school hospital
as the nurse attended to him
“Who did this to you?”.Nancy,the nurse asked
“Melissa”.Caleb replied as he sat straight on the
bed
“Why?,how?” She asked
“I don’t know how it happened.I just found
myself across the clas-s”.He replied as he stood
up
“Where are you going to?”.Nancy asked
“To clas-s of course,now get out of my way”.He
said in anger and walked slowly out of the room
He’s really angry because a girl did that to him
Melissa bumped against someone as the person
grabbed her hand and dragged he to a secluded
place
“Let go”.Lis yelled as she je-rked her hand from
the person’s hand
“Who are you?”.She asked the guy who pulled
her
“Just calm down.I just wanna help you”.Adrian
said
“Help me?,what do you know about me”.Lis
yelled in anger.
She doesn’t even know why she is angry
She was about to go when Adrian grabbed her
hand,dragged her closer to himself and placed
his li-ps on hers

She tried to move away from him but her body
didn’t.All her anger started fading away as her
hair turned normal.Adrian broke the ki-ss and
moved away from her as she was left breathless
She was surprised on how all her anger faded
away.She looked at her hair and it was black
again
“What did you do to me?”.She asked Adrian as
he smiled
“I just calmed you down”.He said smiling as Lis
stared at him in confusion
“Calmed me?,Are you nut,who the hell are you to
steal my first ki-ss?”.She yelled at him as his
smile dissolved into a confused expression
“Stole your first ki-ss?”,how did i do that.Yii went
out of control and i helped you out.Don’t you
know it’s dangerous to stay like that for a
day”.He said
“What nonsense are you even saying.You stole
my first ki-ss and you are saying nonsense”.She
yelled as he sighed in frustration
“Okay.I’m sorry.You have clas-s now.You can
go”.He said
“Clas-s?,are you daft?”.She asked and was about
to hit him when he disappeared

“Hey there”.Someone said and Lis turned to see
Caleb
“C..Caleb”.She said smiling nervously
“What did you do to me?”.He asked moving
closer to her as she moved back
“I didn’t do anything.It wasn’t me” She stuttered
“You are gonna pay for what you did.Guys throw
the stuff at her”.Caleb said as his gangs both
boys and girls started throwing rotten foods on
her
Melissa closed her eyes waiting for the foods to
be on her body but she didn’t feel anything.She
opened her eyes and saw Adrian in front of her
“What are you doing?”.She asked Adrian who
was facing her
“Protecting you”.He said as the foods kept
landing on him
“Why are you doing this?”.She asked
“Because I’m your protector and guardian”.He
said
“Guardian?,you must be kidding me”.She said as
Adrian turned to them and they all ran away
“What did you do?”.She asked when Adrian
turned to her
“I scared them away”.He replied
“Look I don’t know you and you don’t know me”.
“I do know you”.Adrian said immediately
“Excuse me?”.
“Yes.I’m your guardian,so I know you”
“How do you even know me,who are
you.wait,don’t answer those questions.I know I’m
dreaming and I can’t wait to wake up
from…”.Her voice trailed off as she was
interrupted by Adrian’s li-ps on hers
“What was that for?”.She asked in anfer
“For shutting you up”.He replied
“I nee-d to go now.You make me sick”.She said
“I do?”.He asked as Lis ignored him and walked
away
“I’ve cleared everyone’s memory of what just
happened”.He shouted after her
“I don’t care”.She shouted back
“You are welcome”.He shouted back and she
rolled her eyes

Chapter Three
The bell was rang for closing hour as al the
students packed their things and started trooping
out of their clas-ses.Lis was about to leave her
clas-s when the school bully and the daughter of
the owner of the school and her dogs (friends)
blocked the way
“Where are you heading to bonehead?”.Natasha
(the head and daughter of the owner of the
school) asked
“Home of course,what do you expect
dummy”.she said in my mind
“Home”.She mumbled,her head lowered
“Why?”.She asked as Lis raised her head
“Wait what’s with all the question.Can’t i go
home.I’ve been going home since I’ve been in
this school or is this the first time you seeing me
going home.Please I’m not in the mood,just
leave me alone and let’s go our separate
ways”.Lis said summoning couraged as they all
looked at her in shock
“What did you just say?”.Natasha asked
“Leave me alone”.Lis replied and before she
knew it,Natasha hand was on her head,pulling
her hair rou-ghly as she screamed in pain
“Let go bitc-h!!”.Lis yelled and Natasha got angry
Who’s she calling a bitc-h.I’m gonna show her
how bitc-hes behaves
Natasha landed a slap across her face,still
pulling her hair and she stretched her hand
towards Julia,one of her dog who gave her a
scissors.
“This is how a bitc-h behave”.She said and used
the scissors to cut her hair as Lis gasped in
shock
“You just cut my hair?” She asked in anger and
Natasha and her dogs smi-rked
“Yeah,that’s how bitc-h behaves”.She said as she
high fived her dogs
“You bitc-h.Do you know what you just did?”.Lis
yelled as she pounced on Natasha landing
several blows on her face.Her dogs ran away to
call the principal as Lis continued landing blows
on Natasha’s face
“It’s payback”.Lis said as she took the scissors
on the floor and without thinking twice,she cut it
off and got off her as Natasha Gr0-ned in pains
“I think you’ll also nee-d some fashion for your
clothes.Let me take care of that” Lis said and
she bent over to cut some parts of Natasha’s
clothes
“What have you done?”.Natasha gasped and Lis
smiled
“Just showed you how bitc-hy I am so I expect
you not to try what you just did ever in your
entire life again”.Lis said and brou-ght out her
phone
“What are you doing?”.Natasha yelled as Lis kept
taking pictures of her
“This is going viral”.Los said pointing to the
picture on her phone and sent it
“You are gonna pay for this”.Natasha said in
anger
“Well if I could remember clearly,you started it,so
I don’t fu-ck ing care about what you are gonna do
because you will always loose!!”.Lis yelled at her
face
“Good day”.She said,picking up her bag and left
the school

Lis got home and went straight to her room as
she met Adrian,looking out the window
“Goodness,you scared me”.She said holding her
che-st as Adrian turned to face her
“Oh,I’m sorry”.He said

my room?”.She asked
“Well I’m not an ordinary human so as you.So I
can transport and do all sort of things
supernatural beings do”.He replied smiling
“One,I’m not a supernatural being,two,stop
smiling at me,it freaks me out.I don’t even know
who you are”.
“Your mom knows me”.He said
“M..my mom?,how?”.She asked in surprise
“She was once a supernatural being and also
schooled in Empire Falls.She’s one of the bests
in the school”.Adrian said
“I have to call her”.She said and dialled her
mom’s number
“Hi mom.Mom you nee-d to come home now.It’s
about what we discussed in the morning”.She
said over the phone,staring weirdly at Adrian

“I’m coming”.Her mom said and hung up

Adrian
“Adrian ma’am”.He said and Lis rolled her eyes
“Thank you.Adrian here is your guardian”.Elle
said
“What does that even mean”.She asked
“Your guardian is like your protector,your
bodyguard.He follows you everywhere you go to
except when you tell him not to,he protects
you,he guides you,he respects you,he follows
your orders and be loyal to you”.Elle said as
Adrian keep nodding in agreement to what Elle
was saying
“He obeys me,he respects me?.Well I got the
opposite today”.Lis said glaring at Adrian
“You guys have met today?,how?”.Elle asked
“Yes ma’am.I saved her life”.Adrian said
“Saved my life.Mom he’s uttering nonsense.This
guy here stole my first ki-ss”.Lis yelled pointing to
Adrian as he sighned in frustration

it.don’t worry,she’s just been childish”.Elle said
smiling and Adrian also smiling
“Hey,stop smiling”.Lis snapped at Adrian and
faced Elle
“Mom,is that what you are gonna say?”.She
asked
“Go get your things,you are leaving for Empire
Falls today”.Elle said with a grim
“Seriously,today,why mom?”.She asked as her
mom shot her a scowl
“Fine,I’ll go get my stuffs”.She said to Elle and
turned to Adrian
“Get up.go get my stuffs now”.She said to
Adrian as he stood up
“Okay”.He replied but Elle stopped him
“Don’t go Adrian”.Elle said.”Have your seat”.She
said and Adrian sat down
“But why mom?”.Lis asked
“I asked you to go get your stuff,not Adrian”.Elle
replied
“But he’s my guardian.He’s to follow my
orders”.Lis said
“And you are also to follow my orders.Now go
get your things”.Elle said
“This is unfair”.She mumbled
“What did you say?”Elle asked
“Me?,nothing.I’ll go get my things now”.She said
and turned to walk away when she caught Adrian
chuckling silently
