Episode 21

Cali’s Pov:
I woke up the next morning, feeling light headed and all. I just felt so weak.
Probably, it’s because of the dream I had. I really nee-ded to warn Owen.
I brushed my teeth, took my bath and got re-ady to leave.
“Cali” Nina called and c@m£ to me.
She was also done dressing up.
“Are you alright? I heard you scream in the night”.
I sighed despondently and took my bag before turning to look at her.
“I’ve just been having some crazy nightmares, Nina. about my brother. I dreamt he’s gonna die tonight if he attends a p@rty. I nee-d to warn him”. I replied and her brows arched in surprise.
“Huh??? That’s…..terrible. And I think its likely to take place if it isn’t prevented because it’s p@rt of your banshee gift to foresee death” she replied and my worries increa-sed.
“But, what do you do? We aren’t allowed to leave the institute” she stated my fears and I exhaled de-eply.
“I think I know what to do. Come on” I said and she followed me out of the room.
We got out to the pas-sage and started walking out and close to the exit, we bu-mped into Diane.
Perfect.
“Hey! Don’t tell me you were leaving without me” she said with beady eyes.
“Sorry. I just nee-ded to do something fast” I replied tiredly.
“Huh? What’s that?”
She joined us and I told her all about the dream on rhe way.
Then, my intentions.
I actually wanted to go to the directors and ask them to contact my mum on phone so I can tell her of the dream.
“Woahh. Are you sure that’s gonna work?” Diane asked.
“Well, it has to because I nee-d to warn Owen by every means possible”.
We walked for a long time before getting to the director’s building and thankfully, we were able to wheedle the grumpy securities into giving us pas-s.
We got to the reception, made use of the elevator and got to the fifth floor where we could address one of them.
“Are you sure about this?” Nina asked as we approached the office.
“Its my brother we’re talking about, girls. My only sibling. So, I have to do everything I can” I replied as we finally stood in front of the office and knocked on it.
The door was glas-sy and transparent and I could clearly see the inner view.
It was just a chubby man sitting in front of a big desk, working on his system.
“Come in” his voice echoed and slowly, I pushed the door and went In.
Diane and Nina had agreed to wait outside for me.
The man rose his glas-ses a little to look at me as I walked in.
“Young lady. Is there a problem?” He asked, sounding a little strict.
Although, his calm face belied his strict tone.
“Um….good…good morning,sir” I greeted a little anxiously.
He didn’t reply but just kept staring at me.
“I….actually have a request to make” I added.
“Okay..go ahead. What is it?” He asked and took his eyes and hands back to his system.
“Actually” I started.
“Its about my younger brother at home. I’ve been having some nightmares of him dying at a p@rty. And the last one I had last night, I figured it was taking place tonight.
“So..plea-se, I nee-d to warn them about it. Its p@rt of my banshee powers to s-en-se death and if he goes for any p@rty tonight, He’s likely to die. plea-se, help” I concluded pathetically and he st©pped to look at me again.
“So, what exactly are you asking for?” He asked and I gulped ha-rd .
“I….I know it’s against the rules to leave the institute. So, I wanted to plead with you to give me access to your phone so I can reach my mum, plea-se” I said.
“It isn’t just against the rules to leave the building, its also against the rules to have contact or any means of communication with any member of your family, friend, whatever…as long as they’re outside the walls of the institute” he said and my heart skipped.
Oh my God!
No, no. plea-se.
“So, I’m sorry, you can’t leave” he added and returned to his system.
“But…” I got lost in words.
“plea-se, sir. Its really important. It’s my brother’s life we’re talking about here. He might die”.
“And I’ll be sincerely sorry for that. These rules weren’t just created for nothing. They have a reason and we must stand by them.
“We have a special day for family visiting. But till then, no communication and that’s final!
“If that’s all, you can leave now” he said coldly and I felt tears and anger build up in me.
I gritted my teeth and stormed out of the office in anger.
“Cali!” Diane and Nina called as I walked pas-s them.
They ran after me and caught up with me.
“Hey, Wat’s up? What the heck happened??” Diane asked and I st©pped walking.
“Damn the institute! I never asked to be here. I just woke up onefu-cking morning, discovered I was a Diãmônd and theyfu-cking abducted me. They took me away f0rç£fully and now, I can’t even reach my family anymore. I’m supposed to just stay in here and watch my brother die???” I spoke with so much anger and they watched silently.
A tear c@m£ scrolling down and Diane pu-ll-ed me in a hvg.
“Hey, its okay. Come on” she hushed.
I sniffed and dried my face.
“Let’s go” I mumbled and we walked out together.
We took the elevator, walked pas-s the reception and finally got outside.
“So, what will you do now?” Nina asked as we ambled along, but I didn’t say a word.
She started discussing it with Diane and I just listened.
Suddenly, I saw something that gr!pp£dmy attention.
A truck, packing up some things.
I st©pped walking as I stared at it and Diane and Nina did same.
“What’s with that truck?” I asked.
“Oh! They usually come once in a while to take care of the trash” Diane replied and my eyes beamed.
That means they’d leaving the institute – going out with the trash.
“Don’t even go there – Cali” Diane said like she alre-ady knew what I was thinking.
I shook my head and looked at her.
“Seriously, Diane. I think this is the only opportunity I have” I said.
“Whaaaaat??? Are you thinking of leaving the building on your own???? Cali!!” She exclaimed
“Hey, I think its dangerous” Nina also said.
“If you get Caught, you’ll….”
“I don’t care, okay? Saving my brother’s life is far important than any of thefu-cking rules. So, I don’t care” I replied rather irascibly and handed my bag to Diane.
“plea-se, you should un-derstand how important this is to me. I’ll just rush home, warn them and return as soon as possible. No one would notice” I said and she scoffed.
“What do you mean no one would notice? It’s almost impossible for a student to leave the institute without being caught. Cali, I’m scared for you”.
I looked at the truck and noticed the men were done. They’d closed it up and gotten into the front seat.
This was my chance.
“I have to. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine” I said hurriedly and ran away from them, going to the truck.
Thankfully, the area was quiet and I couldn’t find any student around.
I looked around to be sure Diana and Nina were the only ones watching and without a second thought, I jumped into the back of truck, getting mixed up with the trash.
Geez!
The odor was so bad and irritating, but what to do? I nee-ded to save my brother.
I shut my eyes and prayed everything goes on well and immediately, I felt the truck get turned on and started moving.

Hidden Pov:
I faced the window with a glas-s of wine in my hand when suddenly, the door opened and even without turning, I knew it was her.
She was the only female opportuned to come to my room.
“Sir” she called humbly.
“We’ve just received an extremely important news from one of our spies. The banshee just left the institute on her own”.
I twitched and turned to look at her and she lowered her head immediately.
Hm. It doesn’t matter if she’s older than me. No b©dy looks me in the eyes.
“When did this happen?” I asked.
“Just few minutes ago. Should we s£nd the boys after her?” She asked and I smiled and emptied the wine in my glas-s.
“Don’t worry” I said.
“This time around, I’ll be going after her myself”.

Episode 22
Abel’s Pov:
I knocked on the door – Miquel’s door and awaited his reply and soon, his thick voice answered.
“Come in”.
I pushed the door open and walked in and met him in front of the wardrobe, probably searching for what to wear because he was shi-tless.
Gosh!! If not for the fact I wasn’t a g@y, I’d have fallen for this guy.
“Boss, I’ve got some important information. One of the students had sp©tted someone leaving the building throu-gh a truck. Its the banshee” I said with deference to avoiding his gaze as he turned to look at me.
“The banshee?” He asked, seeming surprised.
“The student said he’d had only seen her jumping into the truck and doesn’t know why she left” I replied and he turned back to his wardrobe after a silent look.
“Let her go. When she’s back, bring her to me” he instructed.
“Yes boss” I bowed and left.

Cali’s Pov:
I tried bearing the acrid smell from the trash and after a long ride, I felt it was far enough and decided to jump down from the truck.
It was shaking and so wasn’t easy, but I managed to stand, got hold of the edges and smartly, jumped down from the truck.
But I’d to fall r0ûghly and roll on the floor.
Ouch! I gro-an ed as I sustained a little scratch on my arm.
The truck drove away like nothing happened and I thanked God they didn’t have a zilch of what happened. I guess everything is fine, then.
I looked around and waited for a cab and shortly, one arrived.
Though, I didn’t have cash on me, but I boarded It with the intent of paying when I get home.
Thank goodness there weren’t much people around and after a long smooth ride, I finally got home and asked the cabby to wait so I could get his money.
I just hope I don’t get caught on my way to the institute.
I knocked on the gate and the gate man opened up. His brows furrowed in surprise when he saw me.
“Ma’am Cali??” He called like he’d seen a ghost.
“Hi. do you have some cash on you so I could settle the cabby?” I asked and he di-pped his hand into his pocket and brou-ght out a few currency, but thank goodness it was enough.
I collected it from him and paid the cabby and he left.
“M…Ma’am Cali, is there a problem?” The gate man asked as I walked in.
“Of course, not. I just nee-d to see my mum” I replied and fastened my steps towards the house.
Oh! How I’ve missed this place. How I’ve missed being the boss here.
I just feel like crying.
The crocuses of the flowers could clearly be seen, accompanied with its sweet scent.
Its blossomed in the sunlight.
The german floors were neat and the garage reminded me of how I’d normally gone there from time to time to relax.
“Cali?” I heard my name in a faint voice and turned to see mum coming from the backyard.
My heart skipped at the sight of that.
“Mum!!!” I called happily and ran into her arms.
Oh my God!!
I chuckled as I hvgged her, but she only acted surprise.
“Cali?” She called and pu-ll-ed me from the hvg, looking into my face.
“What’s wrong? Wh…Why’re you here? What the hell happened?” She asked, panic boldly written all over her face.
“Don’t worry, mum. I wasn’t kicked out or something. I actually snuck out because I had an important message to pas-s on” I replied and the curiosity on her face increa-sed.
“I’ve missed you, mum” I pouted and hvgged her again and this time around, she welcomed me more.
Then, we dis£ntangled.
“B…But what’s wrong, Cali? I’m really worried. Why’re you here?” She asked and I sighed and decided to go straight to the point.
“Where’s Owen? Is he in?”. I asked.
“No. He’s left for school alre-ady. And your dad isn’t home either. plea-se, talk to me, Cali. What’s the problem?”
I noticed her worries were beginning to increase.
“I had a dream, mom. And I think it’s one that’s likely to happen if it isn’t prevented.
“Does Owen have any plans of going to a p@rty tonight?” I asked.
“Yes..Yes. He said it’s his friend’s birthday p@rty. A clas-smate and it’s taking place tonight” she replied and awaited further answers from me.
Geez! That means the dream wasn’t a lie.
“plea-se mum, no matter what, he musn’t go for that p@rty because if he does, He’s going to die. plea-se, mum. Make sure he doesn’t go for it. He died in my dream and I’ve had the same dream twice. And…you know my banshee gift. I…”
“Oh my God! Cali, are you kidding me?” She exclaimed.
“You don’t have to worry about a thing. I promise he’s never going for that p@rty. I’ll make sure of that. Oh! Good heavens. Thank you soo much”.
She pu-ll-ed me in a hvg and for the first time since I arrived, I could feel the warmth of her embr@ce.
“Thank you so much, Cali. He won’t be going for the p@rty anymore”. She reas-sured me.
“Alright then. I…I nee-d to head back immediately. We aren’t supposed to leave the institute for anything, but I just did and if I get caught, I’m likely to get punished. So, I nee-d to go now” I said.
“O…okay. But why not spare a few minutes for breakfast?”
“I can’t, mom. Its dangerous. plea-se, I nee-d to leave now. I’m having a bad feeling alre-ady”.
“Oh! Cali”
She hvgged me again.
“I’ve really missed you, baby. How’s life at the institute?” She asked.
“It’s um…its cool, I guess” I shrugged.
“Hold on…let me get the car keys so I can drop you off” she said and tried running into the house, but I st©pped her.
“No, no, mum. Someone from the institute might be outside. Who knows? I just wanna go in without suspicions. So, don’t worry about it. plea-se” I told her and she looked at me with so much pity and stro-ke my hair.
“Okay, dear. Take care of yourself, okay?” She said and I nodded like a baby
“I will, mum”, I smiled and she k!$$£d my forehead and gave me some cash for cabfare.
We hvgged one more time before I finally ran away.
*
I got out of the gate and started walking to the main road since there were no cabs in the street.
I walked and with my eyes on the floor, I reminisced over my time with mum and a smile crossed myl-ips. Thank goodness I was able to get the message to her.
And…Oh! I’ve really missed her. I’ve missed home.
“Thinking about something?” I suddenly heard a soothing voice and st©pped walking to have a look.
I turned and saw a young boy standing beside a tree, having a small smile on his face.
Huh?
Was he talking to me?
I stared at him and was about walking away when he left the tree and started walking towards me
Oh my!!
I felt a loud thud in my heart as I had a clear look at his face.
He was damn…handsome!!
His hair, killer looks, walking steps, charms.
They were so perfect and killing like that of a boss,
But I think I was still going to vouch for Miquel.
Hold on; why am I comparing both of them?
Suddenly, I snapped out of my thoughts and decided to walk away since I didn’t know him.
But he called me back
“I nee-d your attention, plea-se”.
I st©pped again and turned to look at him. What could be the problem?
“Y…yes?” I answered and he finally got to where I was.
A sweet fragrance lingered around him.
“You’re Cali….right?” He asked and l looked at him in surprise.
How did he know that? Could he be someone from the neighborhood?
But I haven’t seen him before.
“Nice name” he smiled sweetly.
His eyes crinkled as he did.
“Actually, my first intentions had been to take you home with me, but now, I just nee-d you to deliver a message for me”.
What’s he talking about??
What home?
I noticed I couldn’t re-ad his thoughts.
I was about asking him a question when he suddenly took hold of my left arm.
“Hey! What’s wrong with you??” I flin-ched and tried freeing myself, but his hold around me was firm and I couldn’t.
And I noticed I couldn’t scream as well.
What’s happening??
“Let me go!” I spatted and struggled with him, but he seemed to be so much stronger.
“Relax…” He hushed and pierced my skin with his f!nger.
Whaaaaaat???
“Argh!!!” I yelped in pains as it hurt like hell.
He used the f!nger on the back of my wrist and drew an image on it.
Oh my God!!
It glowed as he drew the lines and I felt a h0t burning s-en-sation on my skin.
“What’re you doing??” I cried out and tried to free my arm, but to no avail.
“When you get to the institute, deliver this message to Miquel. Show him your arm and only then will the burn you feel st©p” he said calmly and finally let go of my arm when he was probably done.
But the pains were still there, ma-king me feel like my skin was burning.
I whimpered and looked at it.
It was a very small drawing of a bridge and looked more like a tattoo.
Oh my God! Why does he want me to show it to Miquel?
“Tell him it’s from Mykel” he smiled and walked away, going into a car nearby.
I felt my whole systems vibr@te as I watched him drive away. What have I gotten into??
What have I done to deserve this?
The pains were becoming unbearable and I found myself running to the roadside so I could get a cab.
I nee-ded to show it to Miquel so the pains can st©p since he said they were only going to st©p when he sees it.
At that moment, I was fogged and couldn’t think straight. I couldn’t think about his reasons and why he wanted me to show it to Miquel. I couldn’t think about who he was either. All I could think about was getting rid of the pains.
I continued running and boarded the first cab I’d seen.
I gave him my location and although he looked at me with beady eyes as a result of my arm, he just continued driving.
He drove for a very long time and finally got to the area of the institute and I paid him off and continued running. Cars couldn’t go any further. So, I had to do the rest of the job.
I ran for a long time, holding my arm and finally, I got to the big gate.
How do I go in??
Oh God!
With the look of things, there’s no way I’m sneaking in. I guess I’m busted alre-ady.
I tried knocking on the gate and almost fell on the floor as a result of the electric shock.
Whaaaat??
It was electrified???
So, how can someone get in??
i looked and noticed something like c@m£ras.
Oh….security c@m£ras?? Could it be possible they’ve seen me alre-ady?
Damn it! I nee-ded to go in alre-ady. I was alre-ady whimpering as a result of the pains.
I was still pondering when the gate suddenly slid open and my heart leapt in fear and surprise.
It opened, revea-ling the institutes and guards c@m£ out immediately.
“She’s back. Get her” one of them said and two others gr!pp£dme.
Oh God!
They dragged me in even if I wasn’t struggling with them and as soon as we pas-sed the gate, I met Miquel’s guards standing beside it.
Thank goodness.
“plea-se, I nee-d to see Miquel” I told them quic-kly and pathetically and the men holding me st©pped walking.
One of Miquel’s guards scoffed.
“Don’t worry, we’ll take it from here” he told the men holding me and they let me go immediately”
They took over and held me instead and started taking me away.
“plea-se, where are you taking me? I nee-d to see Miquel” I told them both as they held me on each arm.
They looked at my arm and looked surprised but didn’t care to ask.
“You’re so eager to receive your punishment, huh? Don’t worry, you’ll be getting it soon” the one on my left said and I just hoped they were taking me to Miquel.
They probably have no idea what pains I’m pas-sing throu-gh.
The students kept looking at us as we walked pas-s them and after a long while, we got to a building, but I could tell it wasn’t Miquel’s ap@rtment.
“plea-se, where are you taking me? I nee-d to see Miquel, plea-se. I have a message for…”
“Shut up!” They cut me off and continued dragging me and finally, we st©pped walking.
Wait!
Miquel!
They brou-ght me to him!
He was standing in front of a window in a big pas-sage.
A table was beside him with books, files, drinks…
It looked more like he was having some quiet time here.
“She’s back, boss” the boys said as they let go of my arm, but he didn’t turn away from the window.
“She claims she has a message for you” the other said and that was when he turned to look at us.
His cold eyes bored into mine and I felt my heart skip.
Oh God!! I just pray this isn’t a bad message.
“What message?” He asked unruffledly, his hands crossed behind his back.
I ran to him immediately and held out the hand to him. My legs shook as I stood close to him.
“S…Someone asked me to…to show this to you” I stuttered fearfully.
“He…he…he said his name is Mykel”.
I noticed a spark in his eyes as I mentioned the name.
He t©uçhed my hand slowly and stared at the image and immediately – like instantly – the pains seized.
The burn and all…they were all gone.
I g@sped in relief, but not until I saw a dot of blood drop on my hand.
I flin-ched and looked at Miquel and saw him bleeding, his eyes were still fixed on the image.
Oh my God!!
I recoiled in horror as the blood rushed down his nostrils and stained on my hand.
I noticed his guards were also moving away.
My eyes drooped and I tried moving away as well, but he held my hand firmly to the point he was hurting me.
Oh my God!!
No; this is a dream.
I saw a little streamline of blood on his eyes which were still fixed on the image on my arm.
And in the most icy voice I’d ever heard, he asked:
“Why did you leave the institute?”
