CHAPTER 9

I got to the living room beaming widely, I saw Timmy sitting on the couch. He was looking extra bored. And Teddy was busy playing video games.
“Why aren’t you played?” I asked in his ears from behind.
” He will surely kill me.” He replied pouting his mouth.
” But you told me Thomas is the best in Video games, why are you not scared of him?” I asked.
” He doesn’t mock me when playing it, but Teddy always mocks me.” He said like a baby and I laughed looking at Teddy who was engrossed in the game.
“Join him. I won’t mock you, you look so bored and I don’t like it.” I said smiling.
” But you will surely get bored. You are a lady, video games aren’t your thing.” He said and I smiled.
” I guess it has to be my thing from now on.” I said giggling.
” For me?” He asked.
” Of course.” I replied nodding and Teddy turned his head to look at me. I stopped laughing and quickly looked away.
“Sit next to me. Who knows your good luck make me win.” Timmy said and I galdly did so.
He picked up the game pad and Teddy paused, I guess he did so, so as to fix him into the game. I moved my gaze to Teddy who looked as serious as always.
“Can’t he just laugh a little? If not laugh, at least a smile will do.” I thought staring at him.
Can’t wait to see him smile. Maybe I will see him like that when he does what he knows how to do best.
“Start.” Teddy said pressing the pad and the vehicles on the screen began to move. I was confused and didn’t know which was Timmy’s.
“Which is yours?” I asked staring at the TV.
” The blue one.” He said folding his leg on the couch making him balance well.
I nodded and began to watch the game. No one nee-ded to tell me Teddy’a was the red one.
At the sight of things, he was obvious he knew the game well because his face expression was just there, and his car was far ahead that of Teddy.
I looked at Timmy and I saw he had a very anxious look on his face, and his car? Had lost the race right from the beginning.
“I told you I suc-k.” He said sadly.
“You can do this. Believe, believe you can. Don’t give up right from the start.” I whispered into his ears and he smiled.
“Let’s see if that will work.” He said putting more focus and zeal this time around.
His car was meeting up with Teddy’s very fast, and when I looked at Teddy, he had this shock on his face.
Well I guess my Timmy just showed him something he never expected.
Soon Timmy’s car was close by, and this time the tension became so hot. Timmy didn’t take his face off the TV.
I expected the same expression from Teddy, but to my surprise I saw him staring at me.
I looked at him and then back to the TV, and I saw Timmy already over took him. I wanted to tell him he was losing already, but I didn’t.
I am on Timmy’s side anyways. We both pierced our eyes with our gazes. I kept wondering what he was thinking.
“I won!!!!” Timmy yelled dropping the pad making me jolt away from my thoughts.
“We did it! For the very first time I won!” He yelled hu-gging my ti-ght. While Teddy’s gaze was still on me.
“Am happy you won.” I said looking away and facing Timmy.
” You lose! You lose! You lose!” He sang to Teddy happily which just looked away and smriked.
“I guess your lucky charm worked for you today.” He said standing up and walking away.
” Come on, let’s play more. Don’t be scared of me already.” Timmy said and he waved his hand in a no signal.
Timmy turned to look at me and I smiled widely.
“Am happy you won.” I said as he held my hand.
” You are really an angel sent from God. I have never won this game since I was very young. But you made that possible.” He said pulling me up .
” Well to me, Thomas allowed him win it. Because he stopped playing.” I thought grinning.
” Don’t you ever leave my side. I nee-d you more than anyone else.” He said pulling me into a ti-ght hu-g.
I hu-gged him back smiling widely.
“I am here with you all okay?” I said and he shook his head against my shoulders.
“I want you very close to only me. Not the others.” He said and I sighed.
” Will the be possible? Thomas also wanted me close, and I want to be close to Teddy, even if it is just for an hour.” I thought sadly.
He disengaged and smiled looking at me.
“I can’t control the joy in me.” He said and I smiled.
” Are you that happy?” I asked furrowing my brows.
” I am more than that happy. I can’t un-derstand because if only you have been here when Thomas and Teddy has been always Winning in this game, you will know exactly how I feel.”
” I had always felt so bad and sad. I didn’t always want to play it before but bored wouldn’t let me have my way.”
” And now today I won against Teddy? That has never happened before. I can’t wait to tell it to Thomas.” He narrated happily.
” I guess you nee-d to practice ha-rd for the next time you would be playing. Because I am sure Thomas will be fully ready for you after hearing you won against Teddy.” I said and he sighed.
” Of course, I will practice ha-rd, and you will be by my side. You are my only sure bet to winning.” He said and I smiled.
? TEDDY ?
I walked to my room after eavesdropping on their conversation.
Timmy must really be a fool to think he won against me just like that
I allowed him win, and that was it. If I didn’t allow him he would never win it. That is the main truth.
“And why did you let him win it?” My mind asked.
” Because I wanted him to be happy.” I replied lying on the bed.
” Why did you want him happy today? This isn’t the first time you are playing this game.” My mind came again.
” Nothing. Just felt like he should feel the position of the winner for the very first time.” I thought.
” I guess his lucky charm really worked after all.” I thought again.
” And why would he tell her not be close to the rest of us? That mean.” I thought again.
” Do you wish to be close to her?”
“Of course not. But he shouldn’t have said that, that is selfishness.” I whispered out.
” And when did you start taking Timmy’s word to heart?” I though again.
And in annoyance, I picked up my head phone and placed it on my head tuning on my music.

I opened my eyes slowly feeling much better than earlier. I looked around for Angelica but I couldn’t find her.
“She left.” I mumbled sadly standing up. I walked out the room and headed for the living room.
I got there and I saw Angelica and Timmy chatting and laughing, and I felt so jealous.
I stood there looking at them, and then Angelica looked back.
“Thomas, you are awake.” She said standing up and walking to me smiling widely.
“I told you not to go away.” I said sadly.
“Thomas I am sorry about that.” She said bowing her head.
“Thomas!!” Timmy called rushing to us.
“Hey dude.” I said walking to the couch.
“Guess what!!!” He yelled sitting close to me too.
” What?” I asked with my gaze on Angelica who looked sad.
“I won against Teddy in the video game.” He said and my eyes wide-ned.
” What?” I asked and he nodded Happily.
“She made it happen. She is good luck, she told me I could do it and I did it. And I have told her not to leave my side anymore, she is my good luck charm.” He said holding her hand while I stared at her.
“That’s good.” I said feeling hurt. I wanted her close to me, now she left me for Timmy, she didn’t even remember I am not feeling too well.
“Thomas am sorry, I though you slept and you didn’t nee-d me there anymore.” She said and Timmy looked at both of us.
“What going on?” He asked looking confused.
” It’s nothing.” I replied coldly.
“It’s not looking like something didn’t happen.” He said adamantly.
” Timmy it is fine okay? Can you give Thomas and I some minutes?” She asked and I saw pain in Timmy’s eyes.
“I should leave?” He asked hurting.
“Yes please. Am sorry.” She said and he stormed out of the living room.
I looked away and she sighed sitting close to me.
“Thomas I am de-eply sorry, I didn’t know you really meant it.” She said looking at me.
” Of course I did, and that’s why I held your hand close to me until I slept off.” I replied looking into her eyes.
“Am sorry, and I promise it will never happen again. I won’t leave your side when you ask me to stay.” She said smiling.
” You promised right?” I asked and she nodded.
” I cross my heart.” She said crossing her hand on her che-st.
“Thank you.” I said smiling.
“It’s nothing. I am happy we are fine now. How are you feeling?” She asked placing her hand on my forehead making me shut my eyes.
“Better now you tou-ched me.” I said and she smiled.
“Don’t flatter me.” She said blus-hing.
“I am not. I am damn serious.” I said and she smiled bowing her head.
“Thanks.” She replied fondling with her fingers.
I looked up and I saw Teddy staring at us with his cold gaze.
“How are you?” He asked making Angelica look up.
“Better thanks.” I replied smiling.
“Am hungry.” He said coldly walking to the dinning room table.
“I will make dinner, am sorry for keeping late.” She said standing up and i held her by the hand.
“Should I join you?” I asked.
“No.”she and Teddy said at the same time, and they stared at each other.
“You are still very Ill. You nee-d adequate rest.” Angelica said looking at me.
” But I ain’t complaining.” I said looking at Teddy.
” Listen to her. You nee-d to rest, mother mustn’t know you are stressing yourself after few hours of discharged from the hospital.” He said and I sighed.
She ru-bbed my hands softly smiling at me before leaving for the kitchen.
“Teddy.” I called walking to where he sat at the dinning table.
He looked up at me Coldly.
“Timmy said he won against you in the video game. How is that possible?” I aksed sitting next to time.
“It was luck. On a normal day, you know he can never win against me.” He said smriking.
“I guess it’s true after all.” I said staring into space.
” That?” He asked.
“That she is his lucky charm? He didn’t something he has never done before when she was close to him.” I said looking at him.
” That’s trash. I let him win, I wanted him to feel how it is to be a winner. I didn’t want to disgrace him in front of her.” He said and I nodded.
I looked up and I saw Timmy walk in. He looked extra cold.
“Timmy are you okay?” Teddy asked.
“Of course I am. Where is she?” He asked looking at me.
” Kitchen.” I replied and he left for the kitchen.
“What’s wrong with him?” Teddy asked looking at me.
“I think he got upset because Angelica told him to give us some private time together.” I said sighing.
” Can we stop talking about her? I am getting tried of hearing her name.” She said breathing out loud.
” Sorry about the bro.” I replied smiling.
Timmy just act mature for once. What Angelica said shouldn’t get him angry.
He said it himself that he just loves her as a friend.
