When Kyle got home, he just went straight to his room. He nee-ded to think he wasn’t thinking straight.
He couldn’t deny the fact that he was worried about pearl but when she dropped by his house to take her car made him feel at ease.
After everything that happened today especially the ki-ss, he knew that his feelings were already coming back.
But how is it possible to love two women at the same time. In as much as he still loves pearl, he can’t deny his feelings for Erica too.
She filled the empty space when pearl left him, she was there for him for two years.
His mom for-ced her on him but with time, he became fond of her and they got along but she never got along with the kids.
He closed to think and memories of their ki-ss cane flashing back and he shook his head. He was going crazy!
The ki-ss awakened something in him, he felt something he never felt after she left.
After he freshen up, he went to check on the kids. He wants to apologise for yelling at them earlier but they just gave him a silent treatment.
“I’m sorry angels, it won’t happen again but up Shouldn’t have done what you did.” He said and Ryan decided to talk.
“You don’t yell at us and you did today because of aunt Erica, you are beginning to change dad and we don’t like it.”, He said honestly and Kyle felt bad.
“We un-derstand if you can’t love Mom like you said, we just thought that if we did something it might work but we were wrong. We don’t like aunt Erica but if you want to for-ce her on us, fine,,, you are free to do anything you want, we have always being your second choice after aunt Erica anyway.”, Emma said.
“No that’s not true, you know you are always my first and I love you guys so much… So so much, I am sorry if I after like a je-rk and made you feel like Erica is my first priority, I just wanted you to have a mom since you wanted a complete family.”, He replied holding their hands.
“If you are marrying aunt Erica for our sake then we don’t want her, we can just do without a mom.”, Ryan said.
“Tell us dad and promise that you will tell us the truth.”, Emma said and Kyle promised.
“Do you truly not love Mom anymore? All your actions are saying otherwise.” She asked and Kyle opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out.
“You see — you no longer tell us the truth, you just keep everything from us.”, Ryan said icily.
“Do you promise to drop the topic after I tell you the truth?”, He asked and they nodded.
“Promise that you won’t tell anyone, don’t even your mom.”, He said and they nodded curiously.
“I do feel something for your mom but it’s not serious, it doesn’t matter now cos she has someone else and I do.”, He said and Ryan and Emma ran around the house screaming excitedly.
Kyle just laughed at their cute reaction, then the realization struck him.
“Did I just confess that I love pearl?”
“Daddy loves Mommy.”, They sang all over the house making Kyle burst into laughter.
“Don’t forget your promise, it is our secret.”, He said and they acted like they were zi-pping their mouth.
“Your secret is safe with us, don’t you worry!”, Ryan said and Emma nodded.
“When are you going to tell her dad?”, Emma whispered like they were not the only ones in the house except from the maid.
“You are too young for these things, you should have done sleep now… I’m sure that you are tired after today’s stress.”, He said avoiding the question and they knew that he was.
“You are acting smart dad, we will find out sooner or later.”, Ryan said.

“Why is so ha-rd to love Kyle? I guess I haven’t learnt enough lesson.”
“All he keeps talking is Erica, she isn’t even as pretty as I am.”
“I can’t believe that he actually left me to go on my own, he could have ask me to stay and I would have changed my mind right away. Jeez!”, pearl kept on blabbing.
Then she suddenly remembered the ki-ss and she smiled and her face was burning up.
“I can’t let my hopes up, he has moved on.”, she advised herself but it didn’t make her feel better.
Then suddenly she remembered when he bought strawberry ice cream for her.
He remembers her favourite.
“Why didn’t I accept the flower in the first place?”, she questioned herself regretting it.
“I have pride still, I can’t allow him to play with my feelings.”, she told herself.
“I nee-d something to distract myself.”, She said finding it difficult to sleep.
#Nextday
After Kyle dropped the kids at school, he went to his office.
He plans on going to see Erica in the evening on his way home to explain everything.
Jayden knocked on his door but Kyle looked up and continued what he was working on, ignoring him.
“Dude good morning!”, He said smiling about to seat.
“Don’t you think we have a lot to talk about?”, Kyle said walking close to Jayden who was also moving back.
“I can explain everything, please hear me out.”, He said and Kyle folded his hands across his che-st.
“It better be reasonable.”, He said glaring ha-rd at him and Jayden gulped.
Of course he had no reasonable reason, he just wanted to tease his friend and make him jealous.
“I actually met pearl but it wasn’t in a hotel, I met her at twinkle’s house.”, He said.
“Twinkle?”
“My girlfriend and Pearl’s personal as-sistant.”, He answered.
“Oh so you got yourself a girlfriend already and that too Pearl’s personal as-sistant.”, He said.
“Continue your explanation.”
“I just thought of teasing you a bit, I just wanted to prove to you that you were jealous, I didn’t mean to lie to you.”, He said and Kyle let out a dry laugh.
“Thank you, you succeeded in making me jealous. Are you happy now?”, Kyle asked, going back to his seat, leaving Jayden dumbfounded.
“You admit that you love her? How? What happened?”, He asked smiling like an idiot.
“We just went out with the kids and we did some crazy things and it awakened my feelings but it is not that serious, I will still get over it.”, He said.
“What crazy things? You had se-x? So soon!”, He said smiling and Kyle shot him a deadly glare.
“You think too far, we only ki-ssed.”, He replied and Jayden smiled widely.
“I hate that your smile, it doesn’t really mean anything okay? I still love Erica also.”, He said and the smile disappeared from Jayden’s face.
“Trust me when I say this Kyle, you don’t love Erica. You want to love her because you nee-d a distraction from pearl, after three years, you still didn’t get over pearl… It’s obvious that you love her more.”, Jayden said.
“You ain’t making me feel any better, pearl doesn’t love me anymore. She is back with Carl, they were hu-gging in that picture. All I see is hatred for me in her eyes.”, He said and hay sighed.
“Dude your love life is too complicated, I think you should really sit to think about everything.”, Jayden said.
“Tell me about your girlfriend, how come you are already dating? Didn’t you guys just meet?”
“Well I guess so, everything just happened too fast and I’m happy it did.”, He said and Kyle rolled his eyes.
“Good for you and I won’t forget your betrayal.”, Kyle said.
“I already said sorry dude I’m do you want a ki-ss, who knows maybe you will feel something for me also.”, He said and burst into laughter.
“Ahahah so funny!!!”, Kyle fake a laugh.
“You wouldn’t be my type if I were to be ga-y.”, He said and Jayden frowned.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“If you aren’t dumb, you would have un-derstood that simple statement.”, Kyle said.
“That’s too mean.”, Jay frowned.
“Well it’s also mean to mock your best friend’s situation.”, He said with a sm-irk.

Chapter nineteen

Kyle left work a bit early because he wanted to talk to Erica and explain everything to her.
He tried talking to her but she kept ignoring him.
“Are you replacing me now? You don’t love me anymore, it’s quite obvious.”, She said as she turned away from Kyle.
“I’m sorry Erica, I just …”, Kyle trailed off not knowing what to say exactly or how to explain.
“You ki-ssed her Kyle, I saw the expression on her face. She surely felt something”, She said.
“It was a game, I just explained that to you, I am sorry okay?”, He pleaded.
“Who did you bring the flowers for?”, She asked blus-hing.
“I just wanted to use it to apologise, I won it yesterday and there was no one to give.”, He said then he remembered that he had given pearl but she rejected it.
“Please don’t stay near that woman, I don’t like it. You are only mine.”, She said hu-gging Kyle happily.
“Let’s just focus on our wedding, we haven’t talked about that in weeks now. I want you to check out my wedding dress next week.”, She said and Kyle nodded.
The wedding totally skipped his mind, he didn’t even remember that his wedding was in the next 4 months.
“We will do just that but you nee-d to focus on making the kids like you, they seem to have a bad impression of you.”, He said and Erica rolled her eyes.
“Well I don’t care, they should just leave with their mother. So that we can spend time alone.”, She suggested and Kyle furrowed his brow.
“Seriously? I should send my kids away just to be with you? Tell me you are joking.”, Kyle said in disbelief.
“What do you mean by just to be with you? Am I just a nobody?”
“I didn’t mean it that way – I was just saying that I can’t leave my kids for anyone.”, He answered.
“Including me? What if I ask you to choose between your kids and I?”, She said and Kyle shook his head in disagreement.
“Please don’t make me choose or else it won’t end well, they are my first priority and I can’t leave them even if our relationship is at stake. They are very important to me.”, Kyle said and she gasped.
“I think I should get going now, they will be expecting me at home already.”
“Goodbye.”, He said pecking her on the cheek and left.
“Gosh!!! I hate those kids.”, She said clenching her fist.

“Dad!!!”, Ryan and Emma said rushing to hu-g their dad and Kyle looked quite surprised.
They rarely hu-g him, most of the time they ignore him. They don’t really get along with him because of Erica.
“What’s new? Why are you guys so happy today?”
“We are just happy.”, Emma replied smiling.
“When is mom coming back here? She didn’t visit us today.”, Ryan asked but Kyle didn’t have any answer.
“I don’t know, I think she is having fun with someone.”
“Who can it be?”, Emma said wondering.
“What if it is that man mom met yesterday? They look quite close.”, Ryan pointed out and different thought ran throu-ghKyle’s head.
The way they hu-gged wasn’t a friend hu-g, she even smiled at him and said I missed you and most importantly she gave him her number.
“I don’t think Mom would like that man.”, Emma said confidently.
“How sure are you?”
“100 percent.”, She replied.
“He isn’t even as handsome as you are.”, Ryan added and Kyle smiled.
“Is that true?”, He said to make sure they weren’t teasing him.
“It is.”, Emma agreed.
“So I have nothing to worry about?”, Kyle asked and they nodded.
“Absolutely nothing to worry about.”, They said.
“When are you telling Mom how you feel about her?”, Emma whispered like how she did before.
Kyle just shook his head playfully, he just love his kids.
“We can help you if you are not bold enough to confess your feelings.”, Ryan offered.
“Who is teaching you all of these? What do you know about love?”
“We are learning it from you.”, They replied and he laughed.
“Have you done your homework?”, He asked and they nodded.
“Have you eaten your dinner?”
“Yes.”, They chorused.
“Dad don’t avoid our question, we know what you are trying to do.”, They said and Kyle Gr0-ned.
“Why do I have smart kids?”, He muttered.
* A week later *
Things between pearl and Kyle became weird and awkward.
Pearl just comes to see the kids and she would want to avoid seeing Kyle but the children always look for a way to talk.
Emma’s mouth almost sli-pped, she almost told pearl shout what Kyle said but Ryan had shut her mouth.

Today is Pearl’s parents memorial and everything she remembers what happened, she will wish that they didn’t die.
*Flash back*
Pearl and her parents were on their way back to California. They had gone out for an event.
They didn’t listen to the weather report, so they didn’t know that it was going to rain heavily.
The rain was raining heavily and it seems like they were the only ones on the road because there wasn’t any single car on the road.
They didn’t stop but instead they were going slowly because they still had about an hour to reach their destination.
“What do you want to become later in the future?”, Her mom asked trying to make the journey less silent.
“I want to become an actress, a beautiful one, that everyone will love.”, The seven year old pearl said happily.
“I can’t wait for you to grow up, I want to see you on the screen and tell everyone that you are my daughter.”, Her mom said and pearl clapped her hands happily.
“At least you don’t want to take over the business that will require you to stay away from your family.”, Pearl’s mom said glaring at her husband.
“We talked about this already, I didn’t choose to stay away from my family, my job is just very demanding.”, He explained.
“Demanding indeed! Does your job include cheating too?”
“I told you that it was a mistake, believe me it was only once and it won’t happen again.”, He explained but Pearl’s mom only rolled her eyes.
“Mistake or not! Cheating is cheating, there is no excuse for cheating instead of spending time with your family.”, She said.
“Dad… Mom please stop fighting.”, Pearl said tired of seeing her parents fight all the time.
“No your dad has to hear my mind, I want to tell him my mind.”, Pearl’s mom said angrily.
“I made a mistake and i am sorry okay, you shouldn’t make this a big deal in front of pearl.”, He said removing his gaze from the road to look at his wife.
“Dad!!! Look.”, Pearl shouted pointed at the truck that was coming in front of them.
Unfortunately, it was too late for Mr Hansley to move away from the truck.
He didn’t hear the sound because of the rain and it was already very dark.
“The truck crashed the car till the extend that it summersaulted thrice, landing upside down.
The truck too lost control and hit a tree.
Everyone was badly injured in the car including pearl but luckily for her, she was the only lucky person in the car.
“Raymond!!!”, Mrs Hansley called her husband as she was trying ha-rd to keep her eyes opened.
“Pearl!!!”, She called as she managed to look back.
“Pearl!”, Mr Hansley joined his wife as he tapped her.
“D-ad … M-om!”, Pearl stammered.
“Please hang on pearl, we won’t see help till morning! Please hold on and don’t die.”, Mr Hansley said as tears rolled down his cheek.
Pearl didn’t realize how seriously the situation was until she saw her dad crying.
It was her first time seeing her dad like that, she wasn’t sure of what was going to happen next but she was scared.
“No matter what happens, just make sure you were okay. Please be safe, remember you want to become an actress. You shouldn’t die, you have to survive to fulfill that.”, Her mom said as tears rolled down her cheek.
Pearl still didn’t un-derstand why they were talking that way but she was just crying.
“Remember we love you so much and we don’t ever leave you no matter where we are.”, She added.
“I’m sorry, I really am.”, Mr Hansley apologized to his wife.
“I should be the one apologizing, we used our last moment to fight. I should have forgiven you”, she said.
“I love you Raymond”, she said.
“I love you too… Very much.”, He replied.
“Mom… Dad what’s gonna happen to us? I can’t move my body.”, Pearl said and her parents felt helpless.
They were in a much complicated situation.
Blood was dripping from Mr Hansley’s head, he tried to keep his eyes open but he just blacked out.
“I love you pearl … We love you.”, Mrs Hansley said as she followed.
Then slowly pearl blacked out too.
