âGood morning Mr Haroldâ The door opened.
Alex, Tom and Eric stepped in and with one glance at IreneâŠAlex knew what was going on.
âOhhâŠi guess we just interrupted something. Weâre sorry Mr Haroldâ Alex said.
âNothing⊠nothing at allâ Harold smiled.
âHowâs your mumâs health?â Tom and Eric asked Irene.
âOhhâŠâ She said getting herself out of the shock she was thrown into.
âSheâs getting betterâŠi mean her surgeries will be performed today. Thanks guysâ Irene said.
âsurgeries?â Alex asked.
âYeahâ Irene answered reluctantly.
âThe specialists are flying in soonâ Harold said.
âOhhâ Alex said.
âLetâs get movingâ Harold said,he felt a bit bad he must have made Irene uncomfortable with his confession.
But heâs glad he finally made his feelings known to her, he canât keep it any longer.
Heâs madly in love with her and he didnât even knew how it happened.
He didnât even regret the fact that he developed feelings for Irene, sheâs worth it.
After all these years, heâs glad his heartâs finally working perfectly.

Not just on anyone but Irene, he has never felt that way around any lady.
Not even Carrle.
He had had something for Irene since he saw her but he didnât just admitted it until recently.
They got outside the hospital and Harold adjusted his face cap.
They all sat in the car waiting for Alex who told them he wanted to pee..
âWhy is he taking so long?â Harold asked.
Irene had noticed too but she didnât want to speak up, she suddenly feels so shy around Harold.
â I nee-d to get to work. Tom, go check himâ Harold ordered.
âOkay Mr Haroldâ Tom alighted from the car and walked back into the hospital.
He headed to the restroom area and saw Alex approaching, tucking his phone in his pocket.
âWhat?â He queried Tom with a stern look.
âDonât ever think Iâll be looking out for you, Mr Harold asked me to when youâre taking forever like the restroom is your new homeâ Tom said.
âJust shush or another round of fight will bur-st nowâ Alex gritted his teeth.
âIâm always re-ady to bur-st your face with punches, thank your stars Mr Harold is outside waiting for usâ Tom grinned before walking away.
Alex cursed him un-der his breath before walking after him .
He had actually called Mr Ethan to inform him about the recent happenings .
âIâm sorry Mr Harold for delaying you,i ne..â Alex was saying.
âItâs okayâ Harold cut him short. âMove Ericâ He added and Eric turned on the ignition and started driving.
**
âGood newsâ Ethan said to Carrle as he walked into the swimming area.
Carrle was by the edge of the pool, clad in a pink bikini and sipping wine which she handed to one of the maids standing at her beck and call when she heard Ethanâs words.
âReally?â She asked,her eyes litting up .
She knew the news would center around Harold, she really want him back. Although Ethan is not in any way depriving her of anything but she just wanted Harold again, she missed how he makes her feel, he was so gentle and ro-mantic to the core,a perfect definition of an humble man,one wouldnât know heâs wealthy if one hasnât seen him in the news.
People obviously loved him more than Ethan because of his humble way of life.
âYou both should excuse usâ Ethan said to the maids as he sat beside Carrle.
They left immediately after bowing.
âSo whatâs up?â Carrle asked, ignoring Ethanâs lvstful gaze on her b©dy.
Harold doesnât look at her with lvst but with love that always make her give herself to him all the time.
His eyes are loving, you get stuck when staring at Harold,he doesnât even know what he does to lots of women with those eyes.
âWhy smiling? Do you know what Iâm about to say alre-ady?â Ethan asked.
âHuh? No, but itâs good news right?â
âYeah, itâs about your daughterâŠâ
âWhat did you do to my daughter!?â Carrle sparked up.
âChill Carrle, i was about to say your daughterâs nannyâ Ethan said.
âOhhâ She said more calmly.
âYou just keep surprising me with your behavior whenever i mention your daughterâ Ethan stated.
âCause
i know what you can do Ethan, you would do anything to hurt Harold and my daughter is his weakness hereâ Carrle said.
âI wonât hurt your daughter cause i know how much you love her tooâ Ethan said, wishing Ivory was dead alre-ady..
âLess i forget,Iâll be going to check on her soonâ Carrle said.
âOhhâŠyour visitation. You wouldnât even let me meet herâ
âHarold is gonna chop off my headâ Carrle laughed.
âOkay, the good news is about Irene. Her mother is hospitalized and her health has deteriorated to the extent that she nee-ds some specialists to fly overâ
âWowâŠâ Carrle raised her brow.
âSo where do we come in?â She asked.
âWe st©p the specialists from getting to the hospital, according to the nurse Alex made enquiry from, the woman would die if sheâs not attended to as fast as possible and you know if she dies,Irene would be so sad and thatâs what youâve always wantedâŠto make her sadâ .
âYes! That girl is just so annoying, she pisses me off and do you know sheâs starting to rob Tanya of her customers?â Carrle asked.
âReally?â
âYeah⊠Tanya is so pissed at her too, when i tell her of this plan, sheâll be so happy â Carrle smiled.
She hates the fact that Irene got more attention at the p@rty,the ladies focused on her alone and kept ranting on how beautiful she looked.
Some even said she and Harold looked perfect together.
Like
what the hell!
âThatâs cool,we arenât alone in thisâ Ethan laughed.
âYeah so when does the plan start?â
âIt started alre-ady, we found their location and i sÂŁnt out my boysâ
âWow! Youâre so keen on thisâ Carrle laughed.
âAnything to make you happyâ Ethan said.
âThanksâ Carrle smiled.
âYou look h0tâ Ethan win-ked.
âI know rightâ Carrle said proudly.
âI feel like having you right nowâ Ethan said.
âNahâ Carrle shook her head motioning one of the maids to bring her wine.
âOhhâŠdo you know what else Alex told me?â Ethan asked.
âWhat?â Carrle sipped her wine.
âHarold sle-pt over at the hospital with Ireneâ Alex.
âWhat!â Carrle exclaimed.
**
Irene returned to the hospital after she was done cleaning up and eating breakfast.
She waved Eric bye as he drove off.
Harold left for work alre-ady and till he did, she couldnât even look him in the face .
Sheâs yet to recover from the shock that Harold has feelings for her, itâs so unbelievable.
Sheâs just a nob©dy,his daughterâs nanny.
She walked into the hospital and met Doctor Fern coming out of the hallway, the look on his face wasnât so nice, he didnât look like the cheerful Doc Fern.
âHi Docâ Irene approached himâŠ
âIreneâŠâ He said, sighing.
âThe surgeries are going on alre-ady right?â Irene asked.
She know it would have been going on though cause they left the hospital by 9am and itâs 12pm alre-ady, the specialists would have gotten here cause they were almost at the hospital when they left .
âThereâs a problemâ Doc Fern said.
âWhat is it?â Irene swallowed ha-rd .
âThe specialists are not here yetâ
âWhat!â Irene panicked.
âYes, Iâve been trying them to contact them for hours now and itâs not connecting and the worst thing is your mumâs health care shouldnât be delayed or..â
âOr what?â Irene asked, holding her breath.
âWeâll lose herâ
âOh..no!â Irene bur-sted into tears.
***
âI can clearly see youâve gone insane againâ Harold said to Carrle.
He had allowed her into his office thinking sheâll be more reasonable this time.
âI canât believe you left your daughter alone to sleep over in a hospital with a slut!â Carrle barked.
âJust shut up Carrle, youâre the slut here and last time i checked Ivory didnât complain about it,she was even glad i stood by her nanny so what the fu-ck is your problemâ Harold said, regretting why he had let her in in the first place.
Carrle boiled in anger breathing loudlyâŠ.
âI
can see you have nothing left to say, thatâs the doorâ He said to Carrle.
âMy greetings to Ethanâ Harold added mockingly.
âfu-ck you!â Carrle swore, seething terribly.
His phone started ringing and he picked it up to check the callerâs ID.
âIreneâ He said aloud and Carrle who was about leaving, st©pped.
He accepted the call and Ireneâs tears broke throu-gh his ears.
He stood up immediately.
đWhat happened?â He asked.
đHarold, the specialists are nowhere to be found! Doc Fern said if my mumâs health care is delayed any further,heâs afraid we might lose her. I donât want to lose herâ Irene cried .
đOh..my! Iâm on my wayâ Harold dropped the call, he picked the necessary things.
He has forgotten Carrle was there until she blocked his way.
âGet out of my way Carrle!â He yelled.
âYouâre going nowhereâ She yelled back, dropping her bag.

âGet out of my way Carrle!â He yelled.
âYouâre going nowhereâ She yelled back, dropping her bag.
âMove Carrle,i wonât want to push youâ Harold said threateningly .
âGo ahead, push your daughterâs mother out of the way just because of a freaking nanny whose mother is gonna die soonâ Carrle said.
âDonât say that Carrle! Donât!â Harold warned.
âWellâŠi did alre-adyâ She said.
âOut of my wayâ Harold said, getting impatient.
âYouâll have to push me like you said to get to that doorâ Carrle said and Harold swore, re-sisting the urge to push her.
He knew Carrle to be so implicating, she can go file a report that he pushed her and that might get to the media!
He turned and punched some numbers in his telephone and then placed the receiver on his ear.
âYou, get in here now and take two other person with you. Thereâs a wild animal hereâ Harold said before dropping the call.
He sighed impatiently, de-eply regretting why he had allowed Carrle into his office.
âYou wanna get your b©dyguards to push me out right, youâre such a weakling! Do it yourselfâ Carrle said.
âIâm not as violent as your âhusbandâ okay?â Harold said and that shut Carrle up.
Few seconds later, the men filed in.
âGet her out of my way firstâ Harold ordered and they pu-ll-ed the ranting Carrle away while Harold rushed to the door, he opened it and stepped out.
đGet the car re-adyâ He called his driver while hurrying to the parking lot.
đ Okay Mr Harold.
___đ
âWhatâs going on?â Harold asked, breathing heavily as he walked to Irene in the hospital reception, her eyes were swollen with tears and his heart felt heavy, seeing her in that condition.
She sniffed and handed him a face cap when she saw how people were starting to gaze at him, he was unaware though,he collected the face cap and wore it.
âIreneâŠâ He called.
âThe specialists are nowhere to be foundâ She said slowly.
âDoc Fern said my mum is gonna die any moment from nowâ She added bur-sting into tears again.
âDamn! Come, letâs go to his officeâ Harold said.
âHeâs not in his office right nowâ A nurse st©pped them.
âGet the hell out of the way and go get Doc Fern for me anywhere he is nowâ Harold said sternly and the nurse nodded, moving out of the way.
âEverything is gonna be fineâ Harold ru-bbe-d Ireneâs back as they waited for doc Fern in his office.
âIâm so sorry for keeping you waiting Mr Haroldâ Doc Fern said, walking in.
âFernando whatâs going on?â Harold asked.
Doc Fern sighed âMr Harold, the specialists are nowhere to be found,Iâve tried contacting them severally,i called the hospital they were coming from in India and was told they left alre-ady since yesterday and they even called them hours ago that theyâve gotten to San Francisco, heading to my hospitalâ
âSo where the fu-ck are they!â Harold said.
âI donât know too, no one knows and her mumâs health is deteriorating,Iâm afraid she has little time leftâ
âSt©p saying that, whatâs the next step?â Harold asked.
âIâll pay anythingâ He added.
âWeâll have to fly her to India, the same hospital those specialists are coming fromâ Doc Fern said.
âAre you sure theyâre competent? The act of the specialists alre-ady said theyâre notâ Harold said.
âThey are, Mr Harold. That hospital is the best in India and 80% of surgeries they perform are always successfulâ
âOkay then,we should hurryâ Harold said.
âThe problem isâŠâ Doc Fern paused.
âWhat?â Irene spoke up.
âIâm not sure sheâll be able to survive throu-gh the flight, you know she has very limited time left and the flight process might take a lot of time â Doc Fern said sadly.
âGosh! Isnât there anything you can do to help?â Harold asked.
âplea-seâ Irene pleaded.
âArrrgh!â Doc Fern sighed, thinking.
âThe only thing i can do is to place her on sedatives throu-ghout the flight but her chance of surviving till we get there is 40%â
âOkay, so how much is the bills? Iâm gonna pay itâ Harold said.
âNo,Iâll pay it. I still have some money in my bank accountâ Irene said and Doc Fern smiled, knowing Irene wonât be able to afford the money..
âIâm afraid you wonât be able to cover the bills Ireneâ Doc fern said.
âIrene Iâll pay itâ Harold offered.
âNo, youâve done more than enough. I wonât let you pay the bills againâ Irene said.
âIm not complaining about it, Iâm perfectly fine with paying the billsâ
âNoâŠno, youâre not paying it Harold. You spent a lot alre-ady, i canât keep ma-king you spend and spendâ
âIm fine with it, just let me settle the bills plea-seâ Harold said.
âYouâre not even my family to take such responsibilities, you paid for everything since we got here and Iâm so grateful for that but i wonât allow you take responsibility anymore. No, plea-seâ Irene said.
âCan i see your account balance Miss Irene?â Doc Fern asked.
âOf courseâ Irene said bringing out her phone, she imputed some codes and her bank account balance popped up.
âItâll be enough right?â She asked, handing her phone to Doc Fern.
He laughed when he saw her account balance.
âIâm sorry for laughing but this is so so small, it wonât even cover quarter of the billsâ Doc Fern said.
âWhat! Really?â Irene asked, she had thought itâd be more than enough.
The pay she has been receiving from Harold plus all the money she received from her customers. It should be more than enough.
âWhy is it so costly?â Irene asked.
âYour mum isnât just doing a surgery Irene but two, other expenses tooâ Doc Fern said.
âOhhâŠâ Irene sighed and glanced at Harold while ru-bbing the back of her nÂŁÂąk.
âIâll settle the bills Doc Fern, get to work. Thereâs no much time leftâ Harold said.
âNoâ Irene said. âYouâre just gonna borrow me the money and Iâll pay back.
âReally? Thatâs not necessaryâ Harold said.
âIt is, Harold. Iâll collect more orders, i nee-d to pay you backâ
âItâs fine then. Fern, talk to my manager about the billsâ Harold said.
âOkay, so Iâll be flying with Mrs NeaveâŠâ
âWonât i come with you?â Irene asked.
âNo, noâŠthat might take a lot of process and she nee-ds to be attended to as soon as possibleâ
âOhhâ Irene said.
âWill you go in my pri-vate jet? The stress of starting to book a flight and all. Itâs gonna take a lot of timeâ Harold said.
âThatâll be great! Mr Haroldâ Doc Fern smiled.
âLet me contact my aircraft pilot, you should go get re-ady with the necessary things â Harold said to Doc Fern who nodded and hurried out of the office.
âThank you,so muchâ Irene said to Harold tearily.
âItâs fineâ He pu-ll-ed her into a side hvg while he contacted his pilot.
âïžâïžâïž
The car was in complete silence as they headed home after leaving the airport .
Doc Fern and Mrs Neave left in his pri-vate jet alre-ady.
âSheâll be fineâ Harold broke the silence in the car after noticing how troubled Irene looks.
âThank youâ Irene said.
âAre you going back to work?â She asked.
âNo,Iâve closed for the dayâ
âYeah, you nee-d to restâ Irene said.
âYou tooâ Harold said and Irene nodded, knowing she has to get to work to be able to pay back Haroldâs money.
âYou should st©p giving me my pay for nowâ Irene said.
âWhy?â Harold asked.
âIâm gonna be using it to pay for the debt little by little, itâll go a long way in refunding your moneyâ
âArrrghâ Harold gro-an ed. âAre you serious about paying back?â He asked.
âOf course â Irene said, âAnd plea-se do not refuseâ She added.
âIâm gonna keep giving you your pay and you can save it yourself to pay me back when itâs completeâ Harold said.
âFine then â Irene said.
âYouâre ma-king me feel bad for wanting to pay back, i never asked you tooâ Harold said.
âI know but i want to. plea-seâ Irene said.
âOkay then, anything that makes you feel okayâ Harold said.
The car fell back into silence and Harold canât help but steal glances at her.
Even in her worried state, she still looked beautiful.
He kinda wished he hadnât confessed his feelings to her at least not in the midst of this problems, cause it seems sheâs no longer comfortable with him.
**
đDam, do not go to the hospital after leaving schoolâŠ.â Irene said to Damien as she walked up the stairs.
They just arrived home and she know she nee-ded to fill Damien in on the recent happenings.
âWow! You never can tell what might have happened to those specialists? I donât think theyâll deliberately abandon someone who nee-ds urgent medical care without a reasonâ Nola said after Harold had narrated everything to her.
âI think youâre right and i think they are incompetent too, Iâll have then sued whenever they appearâ Harold said, sipping his favorite wine, he was seated with Nola in the kitchen after eating.
âComâon Harold, you donât know what might have gone wrong with them. You should be hoping theyâre fine instead of having this mindsetâ Nola said and he shrugged.
âI hope they are fine though. Anyways,Iâm glad we didnât even wait for them any longer, i just hope Ireneâs Mum survive throu-gh the flight and then the surgeryâ Harold said.
âShe will, i know. Irene told me sheâs a strong woman and i believe sheâll fight thisâ Nola said.
âWhereâs Irene by the way?â She added.
âProbably in her room, i donât want to disturb her,she obviously nee-ds some time to herselfâ Harold said.
âYeah, poor girlâ Nola shook her head.
âIâm thinking of changing her brotherâs school,we both had a discussion and damn! Heâs so intelligent, i donât think the school he attends knows his worth,he nee-ds a better school and Iâm gonna do that for himâ
âThatâll be great and heâs gat the looks too, the maids are still talking about him till nowâ
âReally?â Harold laughed.
âYeahâ
âSo, thinking of the best schools here in San Francisco, i think you should choose the one Ally attends whenever sheâs here for summerâ Nola said.
âYes! Thatâll be fine. Iâll start ma-king moves once all this is over, you know Mrs Neave have to get well first before i can proceed with my plansâ
âYes, of courseâ
âI nee-d to go have a nap before Ivory comes backâ Harold said and Nola chuckled.
âIâll start preparing lunch alsoâ Nola said.
âOkay World best chefâ Harold tea-sed and laughed when Nola rolled his eyes at him.
___đ
âIreneâ Harold called walking into her workshop.
âHiâ She smiled. She just left Ivoryâs room whoâs alre-ady having her nap.
âI thought youâd be in your roomâ Harold said, drawing a chair close to her before sitting.
âNah, i nee-d to workâ Irene said.
âWell⊠Doc Fern just called me now, they arrived India safely and the surgeons alre-ady got to workâ
âThank goodnessâ Irene breathed out a sigh of relief.
Her mum survived the flight!
She had been unsettled, praying her mum would at least survive the flight cause the state she had been in when they left for India was terrible.
Keep fighting mum.. youâll survive the surgeries too.
âIâm so gladâ Irene smiled.
âMe tooâ Harold said.
âOhh⊠Doc Fernâs calling backâ Harold said picking up the callâŠ
đHi Doc Fern.
Irene picked up her phone to call Damien and tell him about the new piece of news.
đWhat!â Haroldâs exclamation st©pped him.
âWhat?â Irene asked worriedly.
âCan you believe the specialists that were as-signed to San Francisco to take care of your mum, were kidnapped! That was why they couldnât make it to the hospitalâ Harold said, alarmed.
âWhat!â
