? TRUTH AND LIES?
(Jeremy and I)
Episode 9
Writer: Faith Lucky.

I heard a loud ban-g in my head as I opened my eyes in shock
Mi…what?
“It can’t be” I told her, my voice echoing with shock.
“Of course it is Alyssa think about it. He’s the only one they powerful enough to do such a thing”.
“But why would be do something like that for me? He doesn’t know me””
“Well ,I guess that’s what you should be thinking about – what are his reasons?”

I looked at her and scoffed. Mico? I can’t believe it. There’s no way it can be possible.
Why would Mico do all these for me? What could possibly be his reasons?

But thinking about it, I think Sandy is right. Mico is the only one powerful enough to break the rules of the organisation.
But why me?

You nee-d to get re-ady for trouble Alyssa, because you just got yourself a whole lot of enemies” Sandy said and my heart gave a leap.
Oh, God! plea-se I don’t want any trouble; not at all .

“Many of the students are angry over your special involvement in the contest. And since you’ve become so famous overnight, the other contestants are going to see you as a very big challenge.”

I gulped nervously and took my eyes to the floor. Will I be able to cope?

“But you know” she continued “I love ma-king friends with people that are famous because it makes me famous as well. So can we be friends?”
I looked at her and smiled. She was alre-ady stretching out her hand for a handshake.
“Of course” I replied her and rook the handshake and she also smiled. I think I like her alre-ady.

“Uhm…Sandy” I called and brou-ght out the phone packed from my bag.
“Mr Fredo gave it to me”.
She g-asped as she dragged it From my hands and opened it immediately

“The principal?” She asked and I nodded
She brou-ght out the phone and damn…It was so big and cl@$$ic. I still can’t believe it’s mine.

“Oh my God Alyssa. Is this really yours? Sandy asked, agaped.
“Do…do you know how much this is? This can actually buy a house”.
My eyes deemed and she giggled.

“Just kidding. But it’s really really expensive. This model is rare to come by. Did you say the principal gave it to you?” She asked, Turning on the phone.
“Well yes. That’s what he told me.”
“Are you sure? What if your secret helper is still responsible for this?” She asked smiling at me and I sighed.
I still can’t believe this Mico stuff. I’m pretty sure he’s not the one.
Then, who could it be?

The phone W’s now on completely and Sandy started operating it.
“It seems a you’ve been added to the school’s group chat alre-ady” she said.
“School’s group chat?” I asked.
“Yes. It’s a forum where almost all the students in Mico High talk and interact with one another especially after school hours.
“Take a look, Alyssa. Everyone’s talking about you”.

I collected the phone from jet and woah! My pictures were everywhere!
I blu-shed and Sandy took the phone from me.

Immediately, there ladies walked in.
“That’s ivy -one of the contestants” Sandy said to me, referring to the one in the middle.
I swallowed ha-rd as the lady got to where I was. She gave me an angry stare before p@$$ing by with her friends.
“I told you you’ll be having a lot of enemies’ Sandy whispered to me and I sighed.

Then next c@m£ Alexa with her two companions as well. She rolled her eyes at me before taking a seat in the front row.
Sandy looked at me and shrugged.

Another lady walked in again and Sandy told me she was Chloe.
Then Daisy also walked in, but she didn’t pay attention to me like the others. She just kept operating her phone and walked over to her seat.
Hm. I could smell trouble coming.

Soon, the cl@$$ bec@m£ filled up and we had three cl@$$es before break. We had made use of the big flat screen TV during Biology cl@$$ and it was so much fun. Too bad I couldn’t entirely enjoy it because I had too many thoughts running throu-gh my mind.

“Let’s have lunch together” Sandy told me as students started walking out of the cl@$$.
“Okay. But I nee-d to wee” I told her and she nodded and started leading me to the restroom.
I kept staring at the floor since all the students were just staring at me. Am I really fit to be here?

Soon, we got to the restroom and wow! It was so big and everywhere was neat and sparkling.
“That’s the girls restroom” she told me.
“Uh…you know what? I just remembered something. So I’m heading to the libr@ry right now. When you’re done, can you meet me over there?” She asked.
“O…okay. sure” I replied perfunctorily.
“Okay. See you then” she told me and left and I placed my hand on my che-st.
Oh, God! How can she leave me all alone in this place?

I gulped nervously and started walking into the restroom. The restroom seemed quite and perhaps it was a good thing because I wasn’t re-ady to face any students.

I got to one of the toilets and rushed to the seat, finally letting out the liquid.
There were so many things to wee out -my fear, questions, anxiety…everything! I nee-ded to flush them out. If only they could go along with it.

I placed my chin on my hand and sighed. I didn’t feel like leaving the toilet. Maybe this should be my new cl@$$.

I thought about everything I’ve been going throu-gh. Could it be possible Mico was really the one behind my free admission and registration into the contest?
But he didn’t know me before now. Even yearaterday when he asked me to sit with him at the cafeteria, he had also asked me about it. Could it be possible he was just pretending?
But what could Mico’s reasons be for helping me? Why someone like me?
I think there’s a twist somewhere and I nee-ded to find out.

After spending about ages in the toilet, I decided to go and check for Sandy in the libr@ry.
I stood up from the toilet seat and washed my hands in the wash basin and after that, left the room.
I was about walking out when I heard strange sounds in the room next it the one I used.
I thought there was no one here?

I drew near and…wait; there were s-xual mo-ans.
What…what was going on?

I placed my ear on the door and really confirmed it to be the voice of a lady mo-aning. Was something extra ordinary going on there?

The mo-anings stopped and immediately the door opened and since I was leaning on it, I lost balance and almost fell, hitting the person that had opened the door.
I moved back immediately and took a look at the ‘opener’ and Oh, my God! Don’t tell me.

It was Jeremy! The boy Sandy had told me about.

What was he…was he the one in…what’s he doing in the girls restroom?

He kept looking at me and a lady c@m£ out of the room, adjusting her Sk-irt.
Oh, my God!
Were they actually…
Goodness! I can’t believe this.
So Sandy was right?

The lady glared the me and walked away. I looked back at the Jeremy and he was still staring at me.

I moved back and he followed me.
Oh, God!
I moved back again and he still followed me and finally I got to a wall and there was no where else to go.
I was standing close to him at a very close range that our faces almost tou-ching.
My breath was now wavering.

Oh, my God! He’s really so cute. No wonder all the ladies were doing crazy things for him without a second thought.

“Hey, you didn’t see you a thing, okay?” He said in a soft tone and I could feel his breath on my face.
“Mmh” I voiced, not knowing what to say.

I suddenly remembered everything Sandy told me about him and it s-ent shivers down my spine.

I fluttered my eyes and tired walking away and as I did, I brushed my che-st on his.
I had ba-rely taken a step ahead when he held me back and leaned me against the wall again.
What the hell?

“Why do you look so familiar to me?” He asked and my heart skipped.

Oh, God! I don’t think I’m breathing anymore.

***

He kept staring into my face with his sea blue eyes and with the way our faces were close, I felt he wanted to k!ss me.

“I…I” I stuttered for words.
How can he say I’m familiar to him?

“Oh!” He suddenly said with a smile.
“Now I get. You’re the 11th contestant, aren’t you? You’re the Alyssa girl”.
I looked at him with my heart still racing fast. So he even knows me? Have I really become this popular?

“You’re quite pretty as they say” he said softly into my ears and my heart skipped.
Sandy words c@m£ flashing throu-gh again:

‘You know you’re pretty and trust me; if he sets his eyes on you, he’s never going to rest until he’s kneeling in between your legs’.

It made fear run throu-gh me.

“I…I nee-d to go” I finally said and for-ced myself away from him.
I heard him chuckle as I hastened my steps.

Jeremy’s Pov:
Wow! I can’t believe that’s Alyssa. No wonder her names ringing on everyb©dy’sl-ips. She’s really beautiful.

Look at her hair, her eyes and oops; even her big bu-tts.
I think…she’ll make a fine mate in be-d.
Perhaps, I’ll work on that.
Anyway, right now, I nee-d to think about something else. Prom is right around the corner and since I’ll be around by then, I nee-d to chose a date.
Well, for someone like me, I nee-d the best.
So, who’s the most cl@$$ic student in Mico High right now?

I brou-ght out my phone and went throu-gh the pictures of the ladies I had gotten alre-ady.
Wow! They’re so many hot ladies in school in Mico High – Alexa, Daisy, Chloe, Laura, so many of them. But with the look of things, I think the best so far is Alexa.
So yes. Alexa will be my date to prom.

Alyssa’s Pov:
I kept thinking about Jeremy even when I was having lunch with Sandy.
I thought of telling Sandy but guessed she might wors-en the situation by putting fear in me.

I remembered the way he had looked at me as we stood very close. He was actually leering at me. He was really good flir-t; too bad.
I hope we don’t get to meet again.

When Sandy and I were done eating, we left the cafeteria and she brou-ght out her phone and opened something that looked like a timetable.
“Mico’s having chemistry right now” and told me as she suddenly stopped walking and I did same.
“That’s his cl@$$ over there” she added, pointing to a cl@$$ ahead of us.

Oh! No wonder a guard was standing by the door.
“Does his guards stay with him even in the cl@$$room?” I asked, surprised.
“Well yes. It bec@m£ known that the students faked their grades and pretend to be in his cl@$$ so they can be close to him. As a result, it was agreed that the guard would be outside all the time to make sure fake students don’t go in.
“So, before going in, you must show him your student ID” she explained and I nodded.
That is quite serious.

So all these students even go ahead just to be with my Mico? If only they knew they were just wasting their time.

“Hah!” Sandy suddenly g-asped. “it’s Jim! Come on Alyssa!”
Before I could say any other thing, she held by hand and dragged me along with her, heading to the cl@$$.
What was she doing?

We got to the door and stopped in front of the security.
“Hey, Jim” she caked and his straight face softened.
“Sandy!” He reciprocated excitedly.

They communicated briefly in filli-pino and just like a film trick, sandy held my hand and we walked into the cl@$$ together.
Huh? What did Sandy do? How did we get access?

She took in a de-ep breath and scoured her eyes round, probably looking for an empty seat.
I also looked around in amusement and…oh my God! I saw Mico!
He was sitting on the second row and heavens, he was looking so cute and stylish – as usual.

I was still smiling and admiring him when Sandy suddenly dragged me along with her, taking me to a free seat.
“What did you do to the guard, sandy?” I asked as we both sat next to each other in the back seat.
“Just consider it our lucky day, Alyssa. The guard out there is someone I know. He’s crushing on my sister and has been trying to get her to date him
so I told him to let us in and he knows the consequences that awaited him if he had failed to do so” she replied and I chuckled.
I can’t believe this lady.

I took my eyes back to where Mico was and continued drooling on him.
He was sitting in between his cousin brothers and continued operating his phone. How I wish he could see me.

The chemistry teacher walked in not long after and all the students greeted him, except for Mico. He just kept smiling into his phone.
What was he doing anyway? Maybe he was chatting with a lady.
Oh, poor me.

I rested my chin in my hand and continued staring at him. His family and friends were so lucky. They get to see and tou-chhim everyday.

The chemistry teacher commenced teaching immediately and I could tell Mico’s attention was so not in the cl@$$
What the hell was he doing with his phone? If he doesn’t want to listen to the teacher, then he should look at me!

I sighed pathetically and continued watching him like a movie, not minding the fact that Sandy might notice.
Well if she likes she should notice. I’m not hiding the fact that I like him. After all, he’s mine.

“Are you in this cl@$$, Mico?” The chemistry teacher suddenly turned to him and asked and that was the first time his eyes left his phone.

“Have I become invisible?” He also asked and two students around him sniggered.
“Well, you’ve been operating your phone since I c@m£ in and I don’t see how you’re paying attention to the lesson” the teacher replied and I could tell me was seething with frustration.

“Listen to me, Mr; your job is to teach and mine is to listen. Stop trying to do both sides. So do yours and leave me with mine” Mico replied.

Oh, my God! Why is Mico that rude?

“Uhm Mr Mico” the teacher called and coughed a bit.
“Not to sound offensive but just a piece of advice: I know this is your school but that doesn’t stop you from being a student and acting like one. So while you’re here as a student, I want you to know you’re still un-der the guardiance of your teacher…”
“Shut up!” Mico yelled and threw his phone at the teacher but luckily it didn’t tou-chhim.
It just fell right at his feet on the floor.
“How dare you tell me what to do?” He asked angrily as he sprang on his feet and kicked the table.
I left my mouth wi-de open in shock as I found Mico’s reaction unbelievable.
Was he that aggressive?

“Sir Mico I…”
“Don’t talk to me!” He cut him off, his voice coming out loud and angry.
His cousin brothers also stood up wind him and tried holding him but he pushed their hands away.

“I’m the boss around here and you have no right to tell me the dos and donts. Even when I’m a student, you’re still un-der me! ”
“Mr Mico, I’m. ..I’m sorry…”
“Your apologies are worthless! Now get your sorry bu-tts out of my building because I don’t want to see your ugly face ever again!”
“Mr Mico…”
He ignored everything the man tried to say – even his cousins – as he started walking out of the cl@$$.
I kept looking in shock.
I’ve heard of rumours of how angry and aggressive Mico was and today, I’ve just witnessed it

He kept walking with so much rage until he got to where I was seated and he suddenly stopped and looked at me.
My heart gave a mighty leap as we exchanged glances at each other for some time. And I kind of felt scared towards him.

A soft look crept into his face – which I couldn’t un-derstand . His eyes dropped as he took them away and finally flounced out of the cl@$$.
***
I was still very shocked about Mico’s attitude. Why was he that rude?
With way he behaves, how can he ever get to love me? He acts too cold.

Sandy and I were walking together to the booksto-re and she was doing most of the talking. I wasn’t really paying attention but just kept thinking about Mico.

On our way, we ran into someone I really didn’t want to see – the abusive vice principal – Mrs Tamara.
She stopped in front of us and my joy seized. Was she going to bully me again?

“Good day, Mrs Tamara” sandy greeted.
“G…Good day, ma” I also greeted, keeping my head low a little.
“Good day, Sandy.
“Alyssa can I have a word with you, plea-se?” She asked and I flin-ched.
What is she upto? She even added” ‘plea-se’.

But…her face was kind of soft. She wasn’t looking as ha-rd and grumpy as she always did when talking to me. And…Oh! She was holding a drink.

***

I looked at Sandy and sandy was looking back at me.
“Uh…you can catch up with me in the booksto-re” she told me and I nodded and she left.

I took my eyes back to Mrs Tamara. What does she want to say?

“Alyssa” she called and paused, taking a de-ep breath.
“I don’t in so. I…I know this much sound crazy but…I want to ask for your forgiveness. I yum…I know I’ve been very unfair to you. But the truth is, I was just kind of jealous. I was jealous of the fact that you were being treated specially here in Mico High.

“Mico had stopped the giving out scholarship in his school, but you were exempted. And then you also got a free registration into the context. I felt you were a commoner and didn’t deserve such special treatment. But I’ve gotten to un-derstand that life isn’t about money or fame. Those who are born rich didn’t chose to be rich and those who are born poor didn’t chose to be poor either.

“I’ve always disliked commoners – a bad habit I’ve been trying to stop. So I want to take out this time and ask for your forgiveness. Is it okay by you?”

I left my eyes dilated in shock. I couldn’t believe it. Is this a joke or something?
Was Mrs Tamara really apologising to me?

I blinked ra-pidly.

“I…” I paused and scoffed.
It was just too surprising.
“it’s…its okay Mrs Tamara. I hold no grudges against you” I told her and she smiled.
“Thank you Alyssa. Indeed you’re a kindhearted person.

“By the way, I got you a drink to boost our new friendship”.
She proffered the drink to me and I smiled and collected it.
It was a small cartoned drink.
“Thank you ma” I replied happily and she p@rted me on the shoulders and left.

I looked at her as she walked away and still saw her apology as a miracle.
How did she get to like me? What could’ve prompted her into it?
Well maybe it was the start of something good and new in my life.

I smiled and headed for the booksto-re and there I met sandy around the entrance. .
“Hey, I’ve been waiting for you” she said immediately she saw me
“What did you two talk about?”
“Uh. ..she apologised to me and gave me this” I replied happily, showing her the drink and she pu-ll-ed a surprised face

“Huh? Are you serious? She apologised to you? And wait…its Milky way!” She exclaimed and collected the drink from me.
“It’s actually my favourite. Don’t worry, I’ll help you hold it”.
I chuckled and we walked fully into the booksto-re.

“I still can’t believe Mrs Tamara apologised to me, sandy” I said as we stood by a book shelf.
Sandy opened the drink and sipped from it.
“Well, Mrs Tamara is a nice person. I was surprised when you told me she was inconveniencing you” she replied.

I shrugged and tired collecting the drink from her but she withdrew it and sipped from it again.
“Don’t be selfish, Alyssa. Don’t worry, I’ll give it to you. Help me check over that shelf for the book I’m looking for. It’s the prime master book.”

I took in a ha-rd breath and walked over to the shelf. I checked and checked for some time and finally found it.

“Found it! I said with relieve and returned to where she was with the book.
“Oh, th…” she tried talking but was interrupted by a slight cough.
“Thanks” she completed and coughed again.

“Hey, are you alright?” I asked, a little surprised.
“I…I. ..think so” she replied and resumed coughing again and this time around, it was repeatedly.
“Sandy?” I called.

The books and drink fell from her hands and suddenly she was coughing out blood.
My eyes wi-de-ned in shock.

“Sandy? Wh…What’s going on?” I asked with fear.

She couldn’t speak but just went on coughing and next, she fell on the floor.
Blood started coming out of her nostrils.
Holy Christ!

“Sandy!” I skrie-ked and knelt on the floor beside her.
She started convulsing and trepidation gripped me.
Few of the students in the booksto-re started drawing near.

“Sandy!” I cried.
“What’s happening? Look at me. Sandy! Someb©dy help! plea-se! Help!”

TBC.

Oh! No
