Episode 3
Writer: Faith Lucky
Alyssaâs POV
I opened my eyes and found myself lying all alone on the be-d. I was still without my clothes and was just covered with the duvet.
I sighed, sat up and wondered where Mico might be.
I to-uched my head and smiled lightly as i recalled everything that had happened the previous night. I canât believe i had actually lost my innocence.
Well, itâs not like I regret any of it. I think Mico is the right one for me.
I took my clothes from the floor and wore them on. I nee-ded to get re-ady for the morning contest. I was done putting on my clothes and was just sitting on the be-d when the door suddenly opened and Mico walked in.
Hmm, sweet crush.
âHeyâ, he called in a low tone as he walked towards me and I smiled nervously and stood up.
âGood morningâ, I replied and fiddled with my hands.
âHow are you feeling?â he asked as he brushed my hair with his palm.
âIâm fineâ.
âUhmâŠI nee-d to return to the girlsâ dome. I nee-d to get re-ady for the morning contestâ. I told him and he nodded and sighed.
âOkay then, Iâll see you laterâ, he replied and k!$$ÂŁd me and I reciprocated.
Then I left the room afterwards.
I returned to the girlsâ dome and had breakfast with them and after that, I went into my room to change and get re-ady for the contest.
While I was dressing up in the room, Suzy and Ivy c@mÂŁ in and they let out a light scream when they saw me.
âOh! The Princess is back!!â
âWeâve been waiting all day for youâ, they said at the same time.
I just chuckled and took my eyes away.
âCome on Alyssa. Donât tell me you are mad at me, it was just a gameâ, Ivy said.
âIt was a dangerous game. What if Jeremy had won the bid?â I asked, a little pissed off.
âWell, it was obvious he couldnât because Mico richer than him âshe replied.
âCome on Alyssa, lets forget about it, okay?â
âSo tell me, how was it? She asked enthusiastically.â
âHow was what?â I possumed.
âYour night with Mico, of course. You guys were all alone in the room, right? What happened?â
âUhmâŠI donât know what youâre talking about. Nothing happened.â I replied.
âCome on Alyssa, why the secret? you mean you guys just sle-pt and woke up?â
âYes, obviously.â
âButâŠâ
âSorry girls but itâs time for the contest. I nee-d to go.â I caught them gently and left the room with a smile.
I knew they were going to come as well.
I took the elevator with some other contestants and soon, I arrived at the hall which had alre-ady been filled to the brim.
I took my seat amongst the other contestants as we awaited the main event to start.
I noticed there were drawing boards arranged on a straight line with different sketches on them. Then, some colors and brushes were kept in front of them as well.
What was todayâs contest going to be all about?
âGood morning studentsâ, the coordinator for the day c@mÂŁ up and said, and the students replied chorusly.
Then he turned back to us the contestants and enlightened us on what we were expected to do.
In this stage, we were expected to complete the drawing on the board and paint it perfectly, and we had just seven minutes to do so.
Wow! Is this really going to be possible?
But, I kinda love drawing anyway.
Then we all stood up and took our different stands in front of the drawing board.
God, help me.
The bell went off and we all took our brushes and other materials and got busy.
Mine was the drawing of a storm, and trust me, it wasnât easy.
I completed the drawing and made use of the right colors, I guess.
And just then, the bell went off and we all stopped.
I took a pip at the drawing board of others and trust me, I had almost laughed out.
The judges c@mÂŁ up to the drawing board and took a look at our different drawings and wrote down marks in their notes.
I really hole mine is worthy enough.
Then they returned to their seats and after a while, the results were out.
âAt the end of the first round of the contestâ the coordinator announced.
âThree contestants were evictedâ.
He paused and opened the list he held.
âThe repres-entative of Pagadian,
The repres-entative of Bali and
The repres-entative of ban-gkok,
Iâm sorry, but this is the end of the road for youâ
Some of the students in the hall started grumbling and I guessed those were probably students from the states that were evicted.
I placed my hand on my che-st and sighed, I canât believe I p@$$ed the first stage.
I stood up with the remaining contestants as the students applauded.
I smiled and looked into the crowd and my eyes ran into Mr Fredo â the principal.
He gave me the thumbs up and I smiled and waved at him.

I smiled on the phone as I walked along the silent balcony, talking to Sandy.
âOh, my God, Alyssa! I wish I was there with you guysâ she said wistfully on the Phone and I smiled.
âIâm sure youâre going to make us proud.
But you nee-d to be very careful around Samantha. I donât like the fact that youâre next door matesâ.
âDonât worry sandy. Iâll be fineâ I told her, hoping I sounded convincing enough.
âI hope so Alyssa.
By the way, my brother was really hurt when he heard you had become Micoâs girlfriend. You know he had a crush on youâŠâ
I laughed at she told me about it.
Just then, something caught my attention from outside.
I saw Jeremy walking towards his car and I suddenly recalled the call I had overheard him ma-king the previous day.
He had said heâd be going home today . and it was alre-ady evening.
Could it be possible he was on his way home?
I watched him from the distance as he approached his car and upended it.
I think he was about walking in. But just as if he remembered something, he closed the door and left again.
âAlyssa? Are you with me?â Sandy asked on the phone since I had been quiet the whole time.
âUhmâŠSandy, can I ask you a question?â I asked.
âYes, sure. What is it?â
âUhmâŠdo you remember Jeremy the strange guy you told me about?â I asked and she scoffed.
âWhat do you mean do I remember him? How can I forget someone like him?â She asked.
âOkay. If you had an opportunity to know whom he was, would you take it?â
âWhat? Of course, I would!â
âButâŠwhat if it was risky?â
âWell, Iâd Still take it. I mean, getting to know who Jeremy is is a lifetime opportunity and Iâd do anything to find out.
âLike, Iâd want to know who he is, why heâs so rich, who are his familyâŠhold on Alyssa, why are you asking?â
I kept mute as I stared at his car. There was still no sign of him.
âAlyssa?â Sandy called on the phone.
âUhmâŠnothing. sorry, I have to go. Iâll call you backâ I replied and ended the call and switched it off.
I placed my hand on my che-st and inhaled de-eply.
Should I be doing this?
I left the balcony and went out to where the car was. I looked left and right and there was no one around.
Then, I opened the boot and got in, lying sideways and after that, I closed myself in.
God!
Are you sure I should be doing this?
But I really want to know who Jeremy is.
I want to know where he comes from.
But what if I get into trouble?
Shortly, I heard some footsteps and figured it was him.
He opened the front door and entered the car. And my heart beat increa-sed.
Then his phone started ringing and he picked up.
âYes.
Iâm on my wayâ I heard him say and I think the line dropped afterwards.
Then he turned on the ignition and started the car and we started moving.
I shut my eyes and prayed I donât regret any of this.
I really hope Iâm not ma-king a mistake.
But the curiosity was too much alre-ady.
I really want to know who Jeremy is.

Episode 4

SAMANTHAâS POV
I stood by the window with a gl@$$ of wine in my room while my friends sat on the be-d behind me.
âBut, seriously, Samantha, I think that Alyssaâs going to be a great competition for you; Lily said, and it increa-sed my anger.
âLike, did you take a look at her drawing? Hers was one of the best. And consider the fact that sheâs Micoâs girlfriend, itâs really going to earn her a lot of favor.
I halted and turned around, throwing the gl@$$ of wine on the floor.
âFirst, I had to deal with Alexiaâ, Samantha said angrily.
âAnd now, the br@t, Alyssa has to show up.
âI think itâs high time I put her in her place. I nee-d to get her out of the contest.â
ALYSSAâS POV
He had driven for quite a long time and a song was even pla-ying from the car.
I remained in my position and wondered when he was going to get home.
So many thoughts kept flashing throu-gh my mind.
What would his background look like? Am I really re-ady to find out the truth?
What if I get caught?
I was still drowning in thoughts when suddenly, the car stopped and the music stopped pla-ying as well.
Oh my God!
Are we there alre-ady?
I used my head and peeped throu-gh the window.
The area was bushy and kind of deserted.
What?
Why did he stop?
I heard him open the car door and c@mÂŁ out and I quic-kly resumed my upward lying position.
I heard his footsteps drawing closer and my heartbeat increa-sed.
Where is he going?
Donât tell me heâs coming towards my direction.
No, no, no. thatâs not possible.
I shut my eyes ti-ght as his footsteps bec@mÂŁ clearer and it was obvious he had gotten to the boot where I was.
Oh God!
Then next, I opened my eyes and a bright light almost blinded me and that was when I realized he had opened the boot.
Oh Alyssa!
What have you done?
Youâre dead.
He pu-ll-ed me rou-ghly out of the boot and held me by the arm.
What?
âJust what do you think youâre doing, Alyssa?â he asked angrily still holding me and I looked at him with fear.
âAre you seriously trying to spy on me?
I opened my mouth and tried saying something, but couldnât.
But how did he actually know I was following him?
âNo, I had run out of words.â
âIâm sorry IâŠiâŠwasâŠâ i stuttered in a frail tone and bent my head and he scoffed,
âyouâre sorry?â he asked, and it was obvious he was angry.
Then he re-leased my hand and took another step away, brushing his fin-gers into his hair.
Oh God.
I looked around and the area was really deserted. I couldnât even find anyone driving by.
How do I get out of here?
âDidnât you realize you were taking a risk by trying to follow me?â he asked with a stare and I gulped down nothing.
I really hoped this ends up being a dream.
âIâmâŠIâm sorry, Jeremy. plea-se, forgive me,â I said pathetically, staring at the floor.
Then, I heard him scoff and he went to the car and leaned on it.
He covered his face with his palm as though he was thinking about something and I prayed he wasnât up to anything.
Suddenly, he opened the door of the car and stood by it.
âGet inâ, he said without looking at me and I wondered if he meant what he said.
I looked at him and he also looked at me idly.
âWell, do you have any other alternative of getting out of here? He asked, and I swallowed down nothing.
i exhaled de-eply and took a very nervous step towards the car.
I walked slowly and got in and he closed the door.
âHmmâ
Then, he turned around and took the driverâs seat next to me and started the car.
plea-se, Jeremy, I hope you donât have any bad intentions.
He drove silently and after a while, his phone rang.
He looked at me before picking the call.
âHeyâ.
âSorry, it has to be delayed; got hooked up with something.
âOkay, sure.â
And the line dropped.
I lowered my gaze and fiddled with my hand. I kind of felt bad I wasnât able to achieve my plans. But I think it was for the better.
Who knows? Maybe, it was risky.
âI know most people are curious to know about meâ, he suddenly said, and I turned to look at him.
âBut you should know that there are some things that should be kept a secret. Perhaps, letting them out might hurt everyone.
They say everyone gets to choose what they become, but, sometimes, life gets to choose for us. And we just have to accept it.â
He didnât turn to look at me all throu-gh and my anxiety increa-sed.
What does he mean?
He didnât say anything else until he got back to the lounge, drove in and parked in a quiet place.
I stalled a little before turning to open the door. I tried opening it but it wouldnât and I looked back at him.
âWhat you did was crazy, Alyssaâ, he said, fixing his eyes on the windscreen.
âDonât ever try it againâ, he added and I kept staring at him muddled.
He pressed a bu-tton and the door unlocked and I stared for a short time before opening the door to walk out.
I stood by and watched him as he drove away, probably heading home.
Gosh! That was so close.
I think I just got to un-derstand the full meaning of âfearâ today.
But, who could he really be? And why is he trying to keep a secret?
Well, I guess he has his reasons.
I turned on my phone and immediately, Micoâs call c@mÂŁ in.
Oh â oh.
I reluctantly picked after a while.
âHeyâ, I said, brushing my hair with my fin-gers.
âAlyssa, Iâve been trying to reach you. Whereâre you?â, he asked and I to-uched my forehead.
Oh, God! What do I tell him?
I canât tell him I was with Jeremy.
He might misun-derstand it.
I think itâs better I pretend none of this ever happened.
âUhm⊠I⊠I, Iâ, I paused and looked around.
âI was taking a stroll. Whereâre you?â I replied and asked immediately and I noticed he kinda delayed a little.
âMico?â, I called.
âUhm, Iâm in my loungeâ, he replied.
âOh okay. Do you want me to come out?â
âNo, no I mean⊠Iâm feeling dizzy and I think I might be going out soon.
âDonât worry, Iâll call you laterâ, he said, ended the call and I âŠâŠâŠ
He kinda sounded weird.
MICOâS POV
I dropped the call as confusion niggled at me.
Something doesnât seem right.
Why was Alyssa lying to me?
I had just seen her coming out of Jeremyâs car and I wanted to know what she was doing with him, but surprisingly, sheâs telling me she was just taking a stroll.
Whatâs she hiding from me? And why was she with Jeremy?
JEREMYâS POV
âGosh! This ladyâs really crazy. I canât believe she actually followed me.
Seriously, sheâs lucky I had noticed she was following me, elseâŠ, if she had really succeeded in following me home, I swear she wouldnât have returned in one piece.
Sheâs just lucky.â
I smiled and shook my head
âShe really has some nerves.â
***
Jeremyâs Pov:
I hunned my car and soon, the gate was swiftly upended and I drove in.
I drove p@$$ the big waterfall straight to the garage and parked my car there, along with the uncountable cars that were alre-ady there.
I c@mÂŁ out of the car and few of the boys in the building c@mÂŁ to me.
âHey, Jer. Wats up?â They asked and I just exchanged a nigga handshake with them and headed inside.
I wasnât entirely in the mood for any conversation.
I met other boys along the way and they kept throwing greetings at me.
âgood to have you back Jeremyâ Tonio, -kind of my best friend- said just as I was about opening the door and I scoffed.
âI was here few days ago, Tonioâ I replied as he stood beside me and we walked into the mansion together.
âYeah, I know.
But to be sincere; the mansion is more fun whenever youâre around.
âBy the way, DC has been waiting for you. He nee-ds you to do somethingâ.
I didnât say any other thing as we walked in and right around the entrance, I met DC- my brother.
Heâs actually the boss in the business and I can be considered his personal @$$istant because weâre brothers.
And want to know what DC stands for?
Well, it stands for Double Crosser.
Yes. My brother isnât someone you joke around with.
Thatâs why everyone is afraid of him â and me.
âHey, broâ I said as I stood in front of him.
Iâm the only one who gets to call him that casually.
Everyb©dy calls him DC.
Even his clients.
âWhat took you so long, Jeremy?â He asked as he puffed out smoke from his cigarette.
He had three armed men behind him.
âIâm sorry. I got hooked up with somethingâ I replied, a little uneasy
âSomething like what?â he asked and I scoffed.
Well, thatâs one thing about my brother.
Heâs always too inquisitive.
I didnât say a word and next, he brou-ght out a gun and threw it at me.
âTake care of the job in room 12; the one I told you about.
And make sure itâs doneâ he told me and I nodded and watched him walk away.
âIâll be aroundâ Tonio said and left and I also walked away, heading to room 12.
The building was really very big and had so many rooms on it.
Well, it suited our progression.
I got to the room and walked in with two other boys and there I met the victim â a woman seated on the floor, with her eyes and mouth banded.
She whimpered as she heard the door open.
I went to her and slowly took off the band from her eyes and mouth.
She squee-zed her eyes and g-asped immediately.
âOh, my God!
plea-se, let me go. I havenât done anything.
Whereâs my son? plea-se, take me to him. Donât hurt him, plea-se.
Let us goâ she said tearfully without a pause and I just let her finish.
âYou and your son will be fine; once you give us what we nee-d.
âWho c@mÂŁ to your house to pay your husband a visit two nights ago?
And want is the pin to the safe In your husbandâs room?â
She busted into more tears and I sighed.
âCrying wonât do you any good, Mrs Smith. Youâre just wasting your timeâ I told her and she looked at me.
âitâŠIt was Fabian Adienteâ she replied.
âHe was the one who had visited my husbandâ.
âAnd the pin to the safe?â I asked and she bent her head and sobbe-d.
âWhy do you nee-d?
It means so much to my husband.
plea-se, just let us goâ she whimpered.
âYou have 20 seconds to tell me the pin to the safeâ I stated icily and she g-asped and looked at me with disbelieve.
âDidâŠdid mark s-end you to do this?â She asked but I maintained a motionless face.
â10 more secondsâ I said and she whimpered.
â4-9-5-7â she replied and I sighed and stood up.
âAnd for your sonâs sake, I hope itâs the truthâ I said as I started walking out of the room.
âWait; whereâs my son? plea-se, take me to him.
Iâve given you what you wanted. plea-se, let us go!â She cried as I walked out of the room with the two boys.
âDeliver the message to my brother. Iâll be in my roomâ I told them and they nodded and walked away.
I also turned around and took the stairs, headed for my room.
I threw the gun on the floor as I walked into my room and la-id on the be-d, facing the ceiling.
Well, this is who I am â the brother to the boss of the most dre-aded gang in the city.
Even the authorities fear us.
And maybe itâs better that way.
To be continued
Now, youâve finally known who Jeremy is.
