#NINE YEARS LATER

????Gwen’s pov????

Nine years and nothing have actually changed, aside from mom who finally forgave dad and got married right away.

Kathy decided to give Davis a chance. They dated for three years but broke up when things started getting very messy between them. They weren’t actually very compatible as we all thought.

Arthur decided to buckle up his shoe and asked Pearl out on prom, they started dating ever since. Good news, they are engaged and will be getting married by Christmas. Pearl is a perfectionist who believes that Christmas was a season of perfection,,,dumb, right? Anyway, I’m happy for them.

Cleo travelled out of the country as soon as we all graduated from college. Well, dad took care of her flight and everything. I really miss her, although we FaceTime almost every day.

Alex became the CEO of her father’s company,,,Mr Eric got released from jail. He asked Brenden for his forgiveness one more time and yeah, Brenden forgave him.

Brenden work at a very famous hospital as a doctor. According to him, his childhood gave him the dream and desire of becoming a doctor. It was a very good decision, honestly. The white coat really suit him, if I may add????.

Well as for me,,,

“Mummy!” I spun around and found my baby running towards me with his tiny arms spread out. I knelt down to his level and captured him in my arms, smiling.

“My baby!”

“I’ve missed you, mummy.” He said, peppering ki-sses on my face.

I giggled. “I miss you too, darling.” I started ki-ssing him back.

“Okay enough now.” Mom said as she joined us.

“Are you jealous, mom?” I teased as I carried baby Kyle in my arms and stood up to my feet.

“Why should I be?” She scoffed.

“She actually is.” Dad said, joining us at the sitting room area.

I laughed. “Why? Because Kyle loves me more?” I wriggled my brows.

Kyle giggled. “I love you more.”

“Aww, I love you too, my little pumpkin.”

“Why does he call you mummy?”

“Uh…because I’m his mummy?”

“You are his sister. I’m his mother.” Mom stated, frowning.

“Yeah, yeah. You are his mother.” Dad and I started laughing.

“It’s not funny.” Mom frown de-epened.

“Come on, honey. Stop being so jealous.” Dad said as he pressed a ki-ss on mom’s forehead.

“It seems like I’m sharing my son with my daughter.”

“Alright Kyle, go to mommy.” I dropped the five years old boy on the floor and watched as he ran into his mother’s arms.

Wait a minute, did you guys actually think he’s my son?

Kyle is my little brother. Mom and Dad had him after marriage.

I love Kyle so much and would definitely do anything for him.

He calls me mummy for a reason best known to him and I call him either baby or my pumpkin.

Well most people actually misunderstood our relationship and think of me as his mother,,,I get why mom feels so jealous about us.

“My princess,” Dad engulfed me into a warm embrace. “How have you been?”

“Better.” I smirked.

“Of course.”

I look around. “Where’s grandma?”

“You know your grandma, ever since she lost her husband…she never stick around.” Mom said.

Yup. My grandfather, Joe, died three years ago. Well thank goodness he witnessed my parents wedding and my brother’s arrival before dying.

It was a great loss to everyone but you know, in life…death is inevitable.

Elena didn’t take it down well and decided to travel around the world. It was her own way of healing…I guess?

Okay, a lot have really changed this past years. I on the other hand changed as well. I work as a detective. I’m always busy with work and all that. I rarely have time for myself but thank God for the understanding partner I was blessed with.

Seems like I did made a right choice that day….

“What about your partner?” Mom asked.

“Busy with work.” I answered.

Mom smiled, “You two suit each other. Always busy with work. Will you two ever get married?”

“Mom! Isn’t it too early to talk about marriage.” I felt embarra-ssed having this kind of conversation with my mother.

It’s obvious, isn’t it?

The choice I made….

The person I chose….

I know you think I choose Alex, I would have. I almost did. But turns out I didn’t love Alex for her flaws. I truly do have feelings for her but I don’t think I would be able to love her flaws as well. And Brenden? I love him for his flaws. He was annoying, frustrating, careless, arrogant, an idiot, a jerk, an a-sshole, a Fuc-kboy,,,those were enough reason to make me hate him but why didn’t it stop me? Why didn’t it stop me from having feelings for him?

No wonder it was easy for mom and everyone around me to figure it out when I explained myself to them about the two siblings.

The answer have been there all along.

Brenden and I have been dating for almost…eight years now?

He is still the same annoying, frustrating and arrogant man he has always been since we were in high school. But each day…each time…I find myself falling for him over and over again.

Mother laughed, “I was only pulling your legs, dear. I just want you to get married and have your own son so you can stop dragging my own son with me.”

I shook my head at her. “I shouldn’t have come here.”

“Mummy,” Kyle whined on hearing me say that.

“But of course I came here for my little pumpkin.”

“Yay!”

????Brenden’s pov????

“Babe!” I pecked her li-ps, wrapping my arms around her waist.

“Hey.” She smirked. “Never expected you to accept my invitation.”

“Why shouldn’t I…? I can’t forfeit going to clubs for anything.”

“You came because I invited you to a club and not because of me?” She glared.

“Of course that wasn’t what I meant, barbie.”

“Then what?”

“I also came for you… partially.”

“Partially? Really?” She smacked my head, earning a yelp from me “You are just an annoying, egoistic, frustrating idiotic bas…”

“Still haven’t changed.” Arthur cuts her off.

She had invited all of our friends from high school to hang around. We always do a reunion once in a year.

“He’s still a pr*ck.” She scoffed, pouting.

“Come on, Barbie.” I teased, pecking her pouty li-ps.

I love teasing her like this.

Apparently as you all already know Gwen chose me over Lexi, surprising, right?

I never really expected her to choose me but she did.

I still don’t know why but I’m more than excited to be with this ray of sunshine every single day, knowing fully well that’s she mine.

I definitely can’t trade her for anything in this world. Although I wanted to give her up for Lexi but Lexi specifically warned me not to do anything stupid.

She said and I quote; ”I didn’t leave Gwen because I don’t love her but I left her because i love her. Treat her nice, big bro. She deserve it.”

Lexi was absolutely right. Gwendolyn does deserve every happiness in this world.

Everyone drank and talked about almost everything and nothing. We specially talked about our high school days, laughing at our funny memories of high school.

“Hey guys!” A feminine voice said as she joined us.

She looks very familiar…

“Cleo!” Lexi and Gwen called at the same time, jumping into her arms, grinning widely.

I still can’t recognize people by their names. It’s a illness with no cure, actually.

“You are looking more beautiful.” Davis compliment.

“Thank you.” She appreciated, sitting down beside Lexi. “Hi Brenden.”

“Hi.” I replied.

“I can’t believe you were able to bring everyone here together.” Arthur said to my Barbie.

“We always do this every year, remember?” She stated.

“Yeah but Cleo, Lexi and Kathy never show up.” Davis added.

Kathy frowned at him. “Don’t you dare mention my name.”

“Kathy…,” Davis began but Arthur cut him off.

“I hope everyone is getting ready for my wedding.” His fiancée grinned as she placed her head against his shoulder.

“Of course we are. Now stop rubbing you almost married life in our face.” I said, earning a loud laughter from everyone.

“Do I smell jealousy,” Lexi joked.

“Shut up.” I gro-aned.

“Let’s dance!” Gwen said, coming up to her feet.

“Wait!” Lexi yelled loudly as she stood up as well. “Actually, I invited two other people.”

“Who?” We all asked.

“Hey…” We turned around and saw….uhm, Luna and… Lexi’s ex boyfriend. Oh, I did heard about them. They’ve gotten married actually. Good for them.

“Lena?” Gwen called in annoyance.

Luna roll her eyes. “I know you don’t like me and i don’t either but we can’t let that affect our relationship with others.”

“You share no relationship with them either.” Gwen pointed out.

“Okay guys, enough with the tense words and let’s go dance!” Lexi proposed…

Thank God for her intervention.

“Yes, let’s dance!” Everyone agreed and rushed to the dance floor.

*****

“Thank you.” I said in a low voice as I linked my fingers with hers.

“What for?” She asked.

“For bringing everyone together.” I answered.

We both walked down the quiet lonely street. We left the club leaving the others there. I’m sure they didn’t even realize our absent.

“Hey, they are my friends also except from that bit-ch y rabbit.”

I laughed. “True.” I stopped walking and turned to look at her. “You are beautiful.”

“I know.”

We both laughed over that. “Thank goodness you do.”

She cupped my face in her palms. “You are cute.”

“I know.”

“Payback, huh?” She raised a teasing brow at me. I smirked. “Fair enough.”

I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and she grinned. “I love you.”

“I love you more, Brenden. I can’t imagine a day without you by side. I want to spend the rest of my eternity with you by my side. I will always stay by your side.”

“Are you indirectly asking me to marry you, Gwendolyn Darlings.”

She shrugged. “I guess? So what’s your answer, Dr Brenden Hank? Will you marry this detective?”

“Of course. I want you to be my forever. My Gwendolyn Darlings Hank. My one and only tomboy. My fighter,” She frowned at that but I could see the smile tugging at the side of her li-ps. “My Barbie.” I leaned down and ki-ssed her. It was a slow and steady ki-ss. She ki-ssed me back, wrapping her arms around my neck and drew me closer ro herself but suddenly stopped and pulled away. “What…”

“That jerk.” I turned around to see what she was talking about and found a boy hitting a girl at the corner of the street.

Of course she definitely won’t let that go.

“Step aside princess,” She said to me as she started drawing up her sleeve, getting herself prepared. “Stick around because this idiot
will definitely be needing medical attention by the time I’m done with him.”

Now there goes my tomboy. My wife to be.

????Alexis’s pov????

I walked down the lonely alleyway, kicking every pebbles on the floor.

Nine years…and I still can’t take my mind off her.

Nine years…and I still felt something for her.

I know it’s crazy to still feel something for her being the fact that she was my brother’s girlfriend and I personally let go for the sake of his happiness but you know, it’s kinda difficult to actually…forget.

I sighed, adjusting my bag hung on my shoulder.

My phone beeped signifying a new text message, I dug it out of my bag and stared down at it, it was a message from dad;

DAD: STILL AT WORK?:-)

ME: NO. I’M ON MY WAY HOME:-)

I was about to drop my phone in my bag when I heard a loud noise from behind.

I spun around and saw two guys approaching me. I felt déjà vu. I looked around in search of a safe place to stay but found no where.

I took in de-ep few breaths rea-ssuring myself that they were just pa-ssers by who probably meant no harm to me.

I unconsciously scrolled throu-ghmy phone, pretending not to pay attention to them when suddenly one of them grabbed my arm and pulled me to their chest.

Okay, they obviously aren’t just pa-ssers by.

“Let go!” I yelled, struggling to pull away from their grasp.

“Come on, pretty. How about…” Someone cut him off by smacking him at the back of his head. “What the Fuc-k!”

“You heard the girl. Let go.” A girl wearing a black baggy shorts and a white baggy T-shirt said, forcefully pulling me away from them.

“Who are you?” They challenged, moving closer to her but she didn’t flinch or anything. She reminded me so much of someone….

“Abide by my rules and you won’t get hurt,” With that she punch one of them across the face while the other one ran away without even pulling off a fight.

~Gwendolyn. She reminded me so much of her.

The other guy stood up to his feet and ran away, muttering cuss words under his breath.

“Are you okay?” She asked me now. I nodded my head with a smile on my face. “Be careful, okay?” She turned to leave but I quickly stopped her.

“What’s your name?” She turned to look at me. “I’m Alexis, what’s yours?”

“Blair. Uhm, do you mind me calling you Alex?”

Alex…

I nodded my head, still smiling. “Perfect.” We exchanged contact. “Thanks for saving my as-searlier.”

She waved me off. “I can’t stand still and watch those idiot disrespect a beautiful girl like you.”

“Should I take that as a compliment?” I teased.

She smirked. “It was a compliment. You are pretty. And, pretty girls like you shouldn’t be hanging around by this time of the night.”

I sighed. “I’m just returning from the club. I know it’s unsafe hanging around by this time.”

“So, Alex. Do you have a boyfriend?” She raised a questioning brow at him, leaning against the wall.

I never expected her to ask me this question all of a sudden,

How do I tell her I was g-ay?

And besides what if she turns out to be like Gwendolyn?

She laughed. “I know I’m still a stranger, beautiful. You don’t have to answer if you don’t feel comfortable.”

“No, it’s fine.” I gulped. “Actually…” I fiddled with my fingers. “I’m g-ay.”

She doesn’t seem surprise,,,she just smiled. “Then I should make a correction in that question…do you have a girlfriend?”

She wasn’t judging me?

She wasn’t giving me the look of disgust?

“Why do you ask?” I questioned.

She shrugged. “Just want to know if I have any chances to hang out with you.”

“What?”

“I’m also g-ay.” She confessed. “And…I want to be your friend.”

“My friend?” I repeated.

“Yeah.” She nodded, smirking.

I hesitate for a pretty long time, wondering what it would be like to actually be a friend to someone like her… someone who reminds me of my first love, Gwendolyn.

She was a straight forward person, beautiful, nice, awesome, attractive, brave, strong,,,she was just like Gwendolyn in features and behavior.., I’ve said that before, right?

“Nice to meet you, Blair.” I finally said after a moment of hesitating.

“Nice to meet you too, Alex. So… are we friends now?”

“Yeah.”

She was going to say something when her phone beeped, she went throu-ghit for a second then shortly after, she look up at me. “I have to go now. Ah, I’ve saved your number,” She waved her phone in my face; ~PRETTY ALEX~, that was what she saved it as. “Make sure to save mine. See you around?”

“Sure.”

“Okay then. And oh, be careful. See ya around, Alex!” She waved at me a little, stuffed her hands inside her pocket and walked away.

I…I think I’ve found my Gwendolyn Darlings.

I saved her number on my phone with a smile on my face.

~BLAIR~

She was my second chance. My consolation. And probably my forever.

****THE END****
