❣️Episode 40❣️

????Gwen’s pov????

“You wretch!” The clattering of glas-sdisrupted our little conversation just as we were about to knock against a room door.

The three of us exchanged glances, wondering what was going on in there.

“Babe, calm down.” A petite feminine voice pleaded from inside.

“Calm down?” He scoffed. “ Why are women just so disgusting and shameless! Don’t you have any shame, huh? How can you go over to her house and make a fool out of yourself?”

“I was only trying to scare her away from you. You were cheating on me with her, what else was I suppose to do?”

What the hell?

He cheated on her and instead of him to go on his knees and plead for her forgiveness, he was saying shit like that?

Like what the hell?”

Now this wasn’t what I imagined to hear or see at my second day of survival.

“I can Fuc-k whoever I want to, Bianca. You are not my wife!” He spatted.

I didn’t even realize that other people from their wards have come out at the sound of the glas-sshattering until I heard a woman’s voice.

“Oh God, he has started again. I don’t understand why she’s with a man like that.” She said bitterly.

“He always beat her up and still bring her to the hospital by himself. That man is nothing but a beast.” Another woman said.

What the hell? He cheats on her and as if that wasn’t enough, he still beats her up. Who the hell does he think he is?

I was trying to maintain a cool profile and just walk away but no, the anger in me got the better part of me as I hit the handle of my wheelchair. “Get me in there!”

“What? I know you love giving people black eyes but I think you should respect yourself and your wheelchair.” Arthur warned me.

He was going to pull me away from the door when I set my legs on the floor and stood up to my feet, earning a surprise look from both Davis and Arthur.

“You can walk?” They both asked in sync, widening their eyes in complete shock.

I rolled my eyes, pulling my hair up into a messy bun.

“I had brain hemorrhage and not broken legs.” I stated, turning the doorknob open and stepped inside the room along with Arthur, Davis and some other patients who wanted to see what I intend to do.

The bastard eyes landed on us with his palm raised on the air and the petite girl lowered her head, quietly awaiting the thunderous slap.

“Hello there!” I smirked.

He puts down his hand, straightening his suit jacket as he cleared his throat.

The lady slowly raised her head up as soon as she heard my voice. She look like one in her early twenties _I guess it’s an early marriage judging by the couples young looks_

Fuc-k, she had bruises on her face.

There was a de-ep cut at the corner of her li-ps, she had black eyes, her right cheek were swollen…She was a complete mess.

How can someone you intend to marry do such a despicable thing to you and yet you still want to go on with the marriage.

Is he by any chance using black magic on her or something?

She is a human for pete sake and hell, she doesn’t deserve this kind of an ill treatment.

“What do you want?” He asked calmly, glaring ha-rd at me.

I stepped closer towards them, giving out a piece of cake to the girl.

“Here,” She stared blankly at the cake stretched out to her then slowly her gaze came up to look at me. “Hey, it’s not poisoned.”

“Hmm. But why are…you giving this to me?” She questioned, still not taking the cake from me.

It was even difficult for her to make out those words due to the bruised face.

God, ways to murder this man kept flashing in my head but I’m doing everything within my power not to let my anger in.

“It’s an offering to wish you quick recovery.” I replied.

“Oh. Thank you.” She smiled, collecting the cake from me. Her fingers were bruised up as well.

I wonder how many more places were bruised up in her body.

She took in my appearance. “You look so healthy to be a patient here.” She observed.

“Well, I’ve been in coma for almost a month. I gained consciousness a day before yesterday.” I explained.

“Oh. And you are looking this healthy?”

I shrugged. “What can I say, sickness are afraid of me.” I joked which did made her laugh.

“Then I’m really jealous of you.” She played along, grinning but hissed in pain afterwards. “Ouch!”

“Hey, are you alright?” I placed a hand in her shoulder.

She gazed up at me, staring de-eply into my gray eyes.

It almost felt like I could see the pain, the fear, the heartbreak in those pretty sad eyes of hers.

It almost felt like she was begging me not to leave…she was silently asking me to help her from that psychotic bastard throu-ghher eyes.

I squee-zed her shoulder slightly as she smiled, breaking the moment between us.

The bastard coughed loudly, giving her a look I could quite comprehend…he was indirectly asking her to send me out of the room.

“Um, I think giving me the cake is all you wanted to do, right?” She asked me, clenching her fist.

I nod. “Yeah. I hope you recover quickly.” I wasn’t only referring to her bruised up face but I was also referring to her broken heart and freedom from the idiot.

“Thank you. And I wish you the same.” She responded, as she cut out of the cake and handed it to me.

“Thank you.” I collected it and threw it into my mouth.

“Uhm, Winner will like to be alone now.” The bastard dared opened his mouth to speak. If only he knew how ha-rd I’m trying to refrain myself from murdering him.

Who knows, maybe he’s only pushing us away so he could continue with the a-ssault on her.

What a douchebag!

“Such a pretender.” A woman muttered under her breath but she didn’t do a pretty job because everyone in the room heard her loud and clear.

The idiot chuckles nervously. “I don’t know why everyone a-ssembled themselves in here but I think it’s best if you all left.”

“Gwen, let’s go.” Davis said to me, pulling me by the arm.

My ha-rd glare never left the idiot and neither did his ha-rd glare left mine.

We weren’t throwing blows physically but we were already doing so mentally.

Just as we stepped out of the room and shut the door closed we heard a loud slap from inside followed by a scream.

I didn’t even wait for a second as I sprung right back into the room and caught hold of his hand just as he was about to land another slap on her face.

“What the hell is this?” He growled, trying to break out of my hold but A1 to my strength, I didn’t budge. “You are trespa-ssing, you know that, right?”

“You are a-ssaulting her, you know that, right?” I challenged.

“What’s your business with what I do to my wife!” He spat angrily.

“Your wife?” I scoffed. “So now she’s your wife? Why do animals like you have to be released out of the zoo, huh?”

His eyes flared up at that insult _I don’t give a Fuc-k about what’s going to happen right now and right here_

“Did you just call me animal?” He looked bittered.

If I was just anybody, I would have been shivering in fear at the looks on his face but Fuc-k it, I was Gwendolyn Darlings and shit like this don’t scare me.

“You are literally behaving like one, mister. Don’t try touch her or else you will be the one to be hospitalized.”

“Are you threatening me?” He chuckles darkly.

“It’s not a threat but a promise. You can give it a try.” I wriggled my brows, setting out my bait.

He took my bait and fell for it but lifting his hand up to hit her over again but it was caught mid-air.

No, it wasn’t my doing this time around but Arthur’s

Without thinking twice, I punched him right on his damn ugly face, knocking him off his feet as Arthur and I both released his hand.

He yelped in pain, ki-ssing the ha-rd floor with his a-ss.

Now this is what you call team work *Wink*

His nose were bleeding as he held it with his hand, whimpering in pain.

Winner eyes went wide as she stared at her fiance on the floor.

Everyone were laughing at him and were cheering me but Winner doesn’t look please at all.

Okay, I think I’ve crossed my limit right now.

“Win…” I wanted to apologize for crossing the line but she interrupted me.

“How does it feel like to be the one hit?” No, the question wasn’t directed at me but rather at him. “Everyday with you was hell! If you didn’t cheat on me then you beat me like I was some kind of punching bag to you! I know you were forced to marry me but so was I! But yet I did everything I can to make us work but you on the other hand?” She shook her head sadly. “You are nothing but a bloody bastard!”

“You…you should be on my side, Winner. I am your husband!” He said throu-ghgritted teeth. “Call the cops right now and report that bit-ch !”

Did he just call me a bit-ch ?

I wanted to retaliate but Arthur and Davis caught hold of my wrist on either side, stopping me from whatever crime I was going to commit.

“Husband? You are not my husband, remember?”

“But I am your fiance!” He stated.

She laughed bitterly, taking off the engagement ring and threw it at him. “Nit anymore. I’m giving you the freedom you want, Gideon. Go on and Fuc-k whoever you wish to, I don’t give a Fuc-k.” She sighed. “And the only one who need to be reported to the police for a-ssault is you but I’m just letting everything go because justice have been served.” She moved her gaze to look at me with a warm smile on her face. “If you dare do anything funny, Gideon…I promise not to take things lightly with you.”

“We might be off but I will still deal with that bit…” He was cuts short as a thunderous slap landed on his face, earning a gasp from everyone in the room aside from me.

Damn, I was so proud of her.

“That’s for wasting five years of my life.” She slapped him again on the other side of his face. “That’s for cheating on me.” She gave him another slap. “That’s for all the pain you caused me.” And she gave him the very last slapped. “That’s for calling her a bit-ch . And if you dare say anything to the cops, I will make sure you pay dearly for it. I will press charges against you and no amount of money will bail you out. And oh, you have no case here because she was only trying to save me from you.”

I don’t know what took over me but I found myself clapping. Few seconds later, Davis and Arthur joined in then the other patients who have been watching the scene joined in as well.

We were all applauding her for her bravery and recovery.

In shame, the idiot stood up to his feet and walked away not sparing anyone a glance.

That serves him right.

Suddenly, Winner engulfed me into a big hug, smiling.

I hug-ged her back, smiling as well.

“Thank you, Gwen.”

“How do you know my name?” I asked, pulling out of the embrace.

“I heard him call you that.” She pointed at Davis who just smiled sheepishly at us. “Thank you so much, darling. I wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for you. I don’t know what took me so long to out him in his place or why I was so afraid of him.” She sighed. “You were my redemption. My freedom.” She stared at the cake I had given to her and smiled. “Thank you for the cake, sweetness.”

“Sweetness.” I repeated, thinking back at Mrs Walter.

“Mhm. If it weren’t for that cake, you wouldn’t have come over here and you definitely wouldn’t have set me free from that demon. You brou-ght sweetness into my bittered soul. Thank you.”

Funny how just that piece of cake could turn someone people’s life around.

It’s funny how I almost wasted it not knowing I would use it to help some people.

It’s funny how a little cake could be one’s redemption and one’s happiness.

“Thanks everyone.” She said to the others, smiling at them.

“You should be more grateful to her and not us.” One woman said, gesturing at me. “She is the brave one. The fearless one. I admire you, girl.”

I laughed.

“She’s our friend.” Davis stated, claiming me immediately.

“We are all best of friends.” Arthur added. “I was the basically the one who punched her around in the wheel…” He paused, looking down at me. “Wait, you let me push you around in the wheelchair when you are actually walk?”

“Your friend owe me, remem…”

“Gwendolyn Darling, what’s going on here?” Dad’s angry voice peered up in the room, causing silent.

He doesn’t look pleased at all…oh boy!
