?When the light decides to come in?

“Olive is watching you.” Gina read out loud slowly. Immediately realization came down on her and she gasped in most shock over this new discovery. “Olive is the serial killer. She is the psychopath.” Her hands were shaking. Her li-ps were trembling. This can’t be right. Something is definitely wrong somewhere.

Like why will Olive try to harm them? They were each other backbone. She loved them just like they loved her so why? Why will she kill them? Her own friends for that matter.

“But…but how is that even possible?” Gina now asked herself. Maybe she was just a-ssuming things. Besides she wasn’t even sure. Maybe the killer had just written Olive….No, that’s can’t be right. Why will the killer write something like this.

Suddenly her mind went to Zoe. Zoe was the next victim followed by Maddie and they were both with Olive. Which means…

“No. This can’t be.” She quickly grabbed and phone and dialed Zoe’s number. It kept ringing then went to voicemail. She tried it again and it still went to voicemail.

She decided to call Maddie. Maybe Zoe wasn’t with her phone. But Maddie should definitely be with hers. She doesn’t leave the house without her phone. In fact she doesn’t even go to the bathroom without her phone. She was one person who was so obsessed with her phone. Believe it or not.

Maddie phone rang for like three times then went to voicemail too. This was strange. Gina thought to herself as she tried her number again. And on the third ring, the call was finally answered.

She let out a sigh of relief. “I was so worried. Why the hell did you wait this long before you could answer your phone. Where are you now? Are you with Zoe? Listen I want you guys to leave that apartment immediately.. Look want I’m about to say might sound as a lie but you’ve got to do as I’ve told you until confirmation are made.” She paused but no one voice came throu-ghthe other line so she took it as maybe Maddie was waiting for her to go on with whatever she was going so say. Maddie was so use to that shit. “Olive might be the murderer.” She said. No one still said anything. “Hello? Maddie?”

“Wow. Should I say busted? Or oops. Or why did you took you so long to discover that.”

“Olive?” Yup. It had been Olive who had answered the phone.

“You should have waited for the receiver to talk before you go on with whatever you were going to say, G.” Gina heard some noises at the background of wherever Olive was.

“Where is Maddie? What did you do to her, you psychopath!” Gina spat angrily.

“Hey, calm down. You shouldn’t be worried about Maddie but you should rather be worried about the other one.”

Gina’s eyes wide-ned in complete shock. “What did you do to Zoe? Answer me.”

“Zoe? Tsk. She’s dead. And as for Maddie…hmm… can’t say. But hey, she would live but that depends on you.”

“Why are you doing this to us? What have we done to deserve this from you? I thought we were your best friends! The sisters you never had. So why? Why did you decide to harm us and kill us like we were chickens?” Gina couldn’t help the tears that left her eyes. The two kids were just staring at her, although it was only Elsa that could see her but Mia could hear her sob. She wasn’t dead, okay?

Gina didn’t care that she was being watched. All she cared right now was her friend safety. Maddie’s. Zoe was dead but Maddie was still alive. She needs to save her. And she needs to do that real quick.

“The question here is…why shouldn’t I do this! You guys hurt me! You hurt me! You took the only person that meant the world to me! you took the only person that saw me and liked me for who i am regardless of my injuries. Of my past. Of my childhood.” Olive barked at the other line. “If you still want your friend to live then you will start running along here. And hey, if you make any funny move or tell anyone about this meeting, I won’t hesitate to kill your friend and I mean it. Mind you, Olive is watching you.” And with that said, she hung up the call.

Gina quickly snatched her coat from the couch and grabbed her car keys.

“Are you going somewhere?” Elsa asked.

She has even forgotten the fact that there were kids around. She quickly wipe her tears and stare down at them as she forced a smile to her face.

“Aunty would be back soon, okay?” The children nodded their heads in response. She ki-ssed them both on their cheeks and left the house.

****

Olive had already sent Gina the address of where she was. She had also call for Kylie to come along saying it was time.

Yeah, time for her to finish what she had started. Time for her revenge to be completed. It was indeed time.

After what seems to take forever, the door creaked open and there stood Gina, crying. She couldn’t believe that the same girl she called best friend, sister, the same girl who cooked their meal, who laughed with them, cried with them, chat with them was the same person killing them one after the other. What a life!

“Well, well, well. Here she comes. It took you forever to come. Was it traffic or something?” She asked smiling. “Come on in. I’m still that same Olive. The same Olive you once called your best friend. Come on.”

Gina took some slow steps towards Olive.

“How could you? How could you do this to us? We took you as a friend! We loved you! Why?!?”

“Stop asking me that damn question, Gina!” She yelled as she glared at Gina. Gina was so taken aback by her outburst and took some step away from glaring Olive. “Why did you hurt him! Why did you?”

“Him? Who are you….you aren’t talking about Ryan right now, right?”

“Thank goodness you still remember him.” She was smiling now.

“Wait. Did you kill us all because of that pig? That idiotic rapist?” Gina couldn’t even believe her ears right now. Yeah, they all knew that Olive had some kind of crush for him but they never knew that she didn’t only just had a crush on him, she was also obsessed with him! How could they have forgotten?

⏱️ FLASHBACK⏱️

(A/N: Back to college).

“Hey girls.” Alicia waved at her friends as she made her way towards them. Alicia was known to be the best dancer in college. Everyone wanted to her friend. But only six girls got lucky to be her friends.

“Late. As always.” Doris said with an eye roll. Doris was also known in college. She was in the basketball team so she got popular throu-ghthat.

“Let’s go to cla-ss, guys.” Phoebe said. She was also popular among boys because of her body shape. She was one of the best female with a gorgeous body shape. Every girl wanted to have like her body shape.

“yeah, yeah. What about Gina, Zoe and Olive?” Alicia asked looking around.

“In cla-ss. Gina and Zoe. But Olive? I don’t know. She still hasn’t arrived.” Doris said.

“Do you think she’s alright? Olive hardly comes late.” Alicia pointed out looking worried now.

“Yeah. I guess she’s okay. I hope.” The other girls said.

Olive was the innocent one among them. She hardly talks. She was just a shy girl who puts on gla-sses. She was the unpopular one among them. and yet have a dream of becoming a doctor. But… Her life was a mess. Her mother had died when she was just Six years of age. And her dad? Tsk. He was nothing but an abusive dad who harms her whenever he was drunk. He had even ra-ped her on a rainy day. Olive don’t have a fun life. She was always putting on a hoodie to cover up her wounds. She don’t socialize with people because no one wants to socialize with her. They saw her as a weirdo and always give her some weird look.

She became friends with the college babes throu-ghthe help of Gina.

Gina was the most popular among them. She was known for her beauty, her body shape and her wealth. Every guy wants to have a taste of Gina. Some wants to go on a date with her even if it’s for just one day. But Gina always turn them down politely. She wasn’t ready for that. At least not yet.

And Zoe? She was also popular. She was part of the cheerleading team alongside Alicia.

They were known to be the six best friends to get to have what ever they want without stress. Oh, did I say six? Olive wasn’t added to the friends clique. All thanks to the bi-tch es who always bully Olive.

****

It was lunch and yet Olive hasn’t still arrived. Her friends were worried. They had tried calling her phone but her number wasn’t going throu-gh. They knew about her predicament. But they accepted her for who she was…still! They had offered to take the case to the police but Olive had pleaded with them not to. She still love her dad even though he was an abusive one.

“Should we report the case to the police?” Alicia questioned her friends as they took a table beside the window. It was their favorite spot. No one dares sit there.

“Olive won’t like that. We have to respect her decision no matter what.” Phoebe said with a calm voice.

Gina rolled her eyes. “To hell with that! How can a father treat his own daughter like trash and beats her like she was…I don’t even know what say!” Gina said getting so angry.

“too bad we can’t even go to her house.” Zoe said absentmindedly. The other girls gave each other a look with funny smiles across their faces. Zoe didn’t even notice the fact that she had given them a perfect idea.

****

Olive laid at the corner of the house with a cut at the side of her li-ps. She was shivering as she laid there. She was too weak. Too weak to scream for help. Too weak to run away. Too damn weak to fight back. She felt worthless. She felt down. No, she was down.

Her hair were scattered. Broken gla-sses were on the floor. She should have been in school right now with her friends but she wasn’t. She couldn’t.

This was how her life had been ever since she lost her mother. Her life was a mess. She was a mess. Could she ever be a normal girl with a normal life like her friends?

She had always asked herself.

She was jealous of them. She wanted to be like them…No. she wanted to be them. She wanted to have the life that they had. But fate had other plans for her.

“You bi-tch .” Her father said as he made threatening steps toward her. Olive curled herself up in a ball as she tried to shield herself away from the punch that would soon be thrown at her by her father. As usual.

“Pl…please…I…please…d… don’t hurt…me. Pl…please.” She pleaded him in between tears.

Suddenly she felt a sharp pain against her right cheek, she screamed very loud in pain and agony. The pain hurt like a bi-tch . She could feel the we-tness on her cheek.

She was bleeding.

He had just used a piece of glas-sto pierce her cheek.

“You bi-tch . you are nothing but a cursed child! I curse the day we gave birth to you.” He started throwing kicking her stomach.

Olive couldn’t scream. Her lungs had died down. She was dying. She could feel it. She could feel her eyes becoming heavy. This was it. This was the day she leave the world for good. She should be sad about that. But no, she wasn’t. In fact she was more than ready to leave this…

Her thought were cut short when she heard her father gro-an and fell to the floor. She was weak but she still managed to look up at the person who had just lifted her up from her feet and carried her in their arms. As soon as I eyes connected to him.

She fell in love.

It was love at first sight.

He wasn’t just a guy that she became so in love with but he was her hero. The guy that saved her from death. From her father.

⏱️FLASHBACK ENDS⏱️

****

“we stood by you too. We loved and cared for you! We even asked you to report your father to the police but what did you do? You refused.”

“Yes! i refused! Do you know why? Being locked up in jail wasn’t the better punishment to be given to a di-ck like him! He was an abuser. He hated me. He cursed the day I was born but do you know what he might have forgotten….I was still his daughter! I still had his blood running throu-ghmy vein!” She yelled in anger as she glared at Gina. No. She was glaring at Gina. She was glaring at her past.

Gina slowly let out a breath. A breath of realization. “You…you killed him.”

Olive started laughing, throwing her head back as she kept on laughing. “Yes, I killed. And then I buried him with my own hands. He had threatened to do that to me but what happened…it was twisted.” She was smiling now.

“But…we aren’t your father. So why harming us…no, why did you kill Phoebe, Alicia, Zoe, Doris, Bianca and Jane? What wrong did they do?”

“Bianca and Jane got themselves involve with something that has nothing to do with them! I saw what happened that night. I was there hiding behind a tree. If you could remember I was the one who had called you over to that place, remember?”

A fresh tear dropped down to Gina’s face. That was right. Olive had called her to that place before what happened happen. Why didn’t she tell the police that?

Trust.

She had trusted her friends so much that she had became so blind to see the light behind the darkness. Kylie was right. What kills fast-er than a bullet was trust.

But it hurt. It hurt to get betrayed by her friend. Not just a friend. But a best friend! A friend you call your own sister. A friend that shares your happiness, sadness, pain, health, and every other thing. A friend that you are willing to die for.

She had a lot of questions going throu-ghher head. She wanted to ask Olive all those questions but only one seems to get out of her li-ps…

“Why…?”

Olive smirked as she folded her arms over chest. “I will tell you.”

⏱️ FLASHBACK⏱️

“thank you.” Olive said to the guy that had just saved her. He gave her one of his warmest smile and that melt Olive’s heart.

“Are you alright?” He asked her now.

She slowly nods her head and fu-ck! she wished she hadn’t done that because right now her neck hurts. Her dad had inflicted so much pain on her neck. She couldn’t even see very clearly because her sadist of a father had broken her gla-sses while he was abusing her.

“Olive? Don’t you think we should go to the hospital?”

She wide-ned her eyes at him. What? He knows her name? This fu-cking cute guy had just called her by her name. But…she doesn’t even know his.

“You know my name?” She questioned still surprised.

“is that what is necessary? You are hurt. we should go to the hospital.” He held out his hand for her to take but she didn’t take it. She became terrified. Was he a stalker? Was he also here to inflict more pain on her like her father did? Was he a serial killer? Would he hurt her? She was trembling now.

The guy noticed this and let out a de-ep sigh. “I attend the same college as you. I’m even in your department. Happy, now?”

She smiled. Oh. he wasn’t a serial killer. He wasn’t here to harm her. It was just her stupid thought, playing tricks on her.

“Now can we go to the hospital?” She didn’t even realize that she had nodded her head because she didn’t felt any pain. Maybe it’s because she was so captivated in the eyes of her hero.

“I’m Ryan by the way.”

Oh. So he even has a name. fu-ck me for not asking him. She mentally said to herself.

****

Ever since then, Olive became so close to Ryan and his friends. She always do whatever he wants without complaining or better still asking him questions.

She had even told her friends about her crush for Ryan but they all rolled her eyes and told her to stop daydreaming that Ryan can never be hers. And not because he was too good for her but because he wasn’t good for her. She thought they were only jealous and wanted him for themselves.

But she was in for a shock when Ryan asked her for Gina’s number one day. She had given it to him but then, he started asking her about Gina everyday they met. Olive started feeling so uncomfortable whenever he brou-ght Gina up.

“Could you stop with all this Gina of a thing! Did you become friends with me just so you could be friends with her?” She had snapped out one day when he had brou-ght up Gina. Again.

“Wasn’t that obvious. Wait. you didn’t actually think that I became friends with you just to be with you, did you?” He had replied her.

She should have been mad but she wasn’t. Instead she mentally blamed Gina and accused her of seducing Ryan with her looks and body shape. She hated Gina. But she wouldn’t let her know that, right?

****

One day, Ryan was in his room looking so sad. Olive was already known to be his friend in his home so as soon as she came around they told her where he was.

She made her way to him and saw him looking so sad. He had even taken some shot.

“Ryan?” She called out softly as she adjusted her gla-sses. Ryan had gotten her a new pair of gla-sses.

He looked up at her with a sad look. “Hey.” He slurred in his words. And that was when she knew that he was drunk.

“What happened to you? You reek of alcohol?” She said as she took a seat beside him.

“She insulted me. She said she could never be with a di-ck like me. Am I a di-ck , Olivia?” He asked.

Olive became more angry at Gina. Yeah, she already knew who he was talking about.

“is that why you are like this?”

He smiled a bittersweet smile as he took another gulp of alcohol. “I’m worthless, Olivia.” He said.

It hurt her to see him this way. It hurt her like crazy and what she said next changed everything for good.

“Instead of crying here and drinking that alcohol…why don’t you take your revenge on her? Make her feel worthless instead of you feeling worthless?” Ryan gave her a confuse stare. “I will help you take your revenge on her, Ryan. I will help you.”

“You will do that for me?” He asked.

I would even kill for you. She wanted to say that but she knew he sounded creepy and would only make him run away from her so she said instead. “I would do anything for you.” That word would keep him closer instead. TBC.
