Ella c@m£ out of her room staring at me before she finally spoke up.
“Mom, are you alright?” She looked concerned, and I f0rç£d a smile on my face.
“Yes dear, Mom is fine.” I told her to calm her down, because I could see her giving me a worried look.
“Has uncle Willy gone?” She asked, looking more curious as if she s-en-sed something was wrong.
I know she’s old enough to know when things are right or not, but still, I quic-kly put on a smile, looking fine as ever.
“Yes dear, he said he has something urgent to attend to. He would be back dear.” I said, to make her feel everything was alright.
She went inside, while I just stood there lost in my thoughts.
Juliana what have you done? I asked myself pacing up and down the sitting room. How did he know I was here? He must have been watching me all these years. And his Dad, does he know I’m here. Adams! My greatest enemy. What have done to deserve such punishment from him, bothers me all the time.
Don’t leave! You can’t keep running all your life.
You have a life to live.
Those words c@m£ floating back as a tear sli-pped down my face.
It’s true I can’t keep running all my life. I can’t! But how can I ever get away from them?
He was trying to tell you, they would find you if you
run again.
I told myself and I allowed more tears to rolled down.
Juliana be strong! Stay strong!
I told myself. If not because of anything, I will stay strong because of my daughter. She nee-ds me and I’m the only one who can protect her.

The following day, I found myself still in the house. I didn’t know what c@m£ over me that made me stay. I never believed anything Willy said because that man is his father. He won’t let anything happen him.
I remembered he said he would protect me, but why didn’t he have done that ten years ago.
I held onto the small note he dropped the day he c@m£ over. I thought of meeting the man after some days of seeking for help from friends who refused to help. I thought of how ha-rd it was for us to eat, since have got no one to rely on.
Ella st©pped school since I couldn’t afford to pay for her school fees. I never heard from Willy since the day he c@m£ over to the house.
With how everything was going, I decided to accept the offer and phone the man who nee-ded someone to work in his restaurant.
I started working, and things was going fine with us. I still couldn’t pay Ella’s school fees, but hired a teacher for her.
**
I sat on the long settee in my sitting room, as I rested my back on it. My boss had given me three days off because of my health. I’ve been feeling weak for some days after four weeks of working with him. I told him about it and he told me to rest at home.

I used the whole yesterday to sleep and I felt so relaxed.
This morning, have washed some of my clothes and Ella’s. I took my breakfast and decided to see what’s happening on TV. I took the remote and was about to press ‘on’ when I heard a knock on my door.

“Who could that be?” I asked myself and immediately got up on my feet, as I walked to the door. I opened the door, and there stood a man, who should be in his late fifties.

“Hello,” he greeted, and my brow sh0t up because the voice sounded familiar. A voice I was sure I heard ten years ago.

“Adams Brown is the name.” He said with a smile that ba-rely reached his eyes. I flin-ched a bit back from him, holding my breath. He met my gaze and I quic-kly looked away. It was him! The devil himself!

“Can I come in?” I heard him asked. He was tall like his son, but has more weight and looked bulky.

I tried to hide my hatred on him as I held on a ti-ght smile, balling my hand into a fist as I watched him come in. I’m sure I wasn’t thinking when I nodded telling him to come in.
I hate him ! Every p@rt of him disgust me. What else could he be here for? I know he’s here to finish what he started.
He walked in and looked around my sitting room before he talked. This time, he looked me in the eye.

“You think you can get away from me?” His voice shrilled and I suddenly moved back. I knew it! His voice alone could s£ntence you to death.

“You know very well what I c@m£ for.” He said with a devilish smile, walking round my sitting room.

Fear gr!pp£dme, as tears overflowed my eyes. Why was I scared of this man? I was supposed to confront him now that have got the chance, but this man figure, eyes, and tone on its own cause a ra-pid beat in my heart. I managed to stare back at him and his eyes showed no pity. It was dead cruel, and red like a burning charcoal.

How the hell could he be a father to Willy? Willy was never like this cruel man that stood before me.
I hate this man every breathe of me and I regret the
day I met his son. I shouldn’t have thought there
was a chance for me somehow.

“I’m afraid to know what you’re thinking.” His voice brou-ght me back to pres£nt, as his two dangerous eyes glared at me.

“How is my granddaughter?” He asked and our eyes locked at the same time.

Granddaughter! How? How did he know that. I knew it! He knows everything! And I’m hundred percent sure he killed Mark.
‘He’s a real bastard !’ The devil himself! I eyed him and looked away. I don’t think Willy knew about it because he never mentioned such. But how Adams knew isn’t strange. He must have s£nt one of his members to find out.
“You can’t answer? ” He shouted at me and immediately brou-ght a gun.

Suddenly a bullet hit my right arm, and I let out a scream as I gro-an ed in pain. I p@n-ted, sweat beaded on my forehead and I pursed myl-ips as unbearable s-en-sation of pain c@m£ in row. I couldn’t believe that bastard just sh0t me. That was quic-k from that imbecile.

“bit-ch!” He snared. “You made matter worst by proving stubborn to me.” He said, his eyes burning.

“Imbecile!” That fitted perfectly for him.

I stared at him with hate-filled eyes, as every p@rt of me was boiling more than have expected. It’s better he ends this one and for all.

“Imbecile!” I said between gritted teeth, getting a hateful look from him. “Just kill me, and put an end to this!” I managed to say with all the strength in me.

“I hate you!” I shouted for him to hear.

I couldn’t believe I said that.

An evil laugher filled my living room, before his look was back to the cruel one.

“You don’t how much I hate you, that I can’t wait to kill you and happily dump your corpse for the animals to eat. It would be my plea-sure doing more than what I was asked.” He angrily said, and I was shocked to hear him say that without any regret.
“You turned my boy against me with that ugly face of yours and made him fall in hell and not in love with you bit-ch!” He said fiercely as my heart almost jumped out of my skin with the way he said those words.
Without looking at me, he sh0t me again leaving with so much anger.

I fell to the cold ground, the pain grew intense and I was forcing myself to breathe to stay alive. Tears filled my eyes as it rolled down.

A minute after, Willy rushed himself in.

“That bastard did it!” He yelled.

“Willy.” I slowly called his name.

“Your fa…ther…sh0t me.” I f0rç£d myself to say, as the pain grew more and more intense.

“How dare he!” He yelled. I saw him brou-ght out his phone, heading outside.

I didn’t see him come back, just when Ella ran inside with tears on her face.

“Mommy!” She shouted and reached for my hand. Her b©dy trembled and I couldn’t do anything to help her. I remembered Adams asked of her, and I was scared of what he might do to her.

I know she has no where to go, but she has to leave.

“Ella…you have to leave,” I said slowly. “You can’t stay here with me..plea-se leave,” I said throu-gh the pain in my b©dy as I watched her screamed and bur-st into tears, crying uncontrollably. But there was nothing I could do.
I saw her walked to her room, c@m£ out with her small bag, and walked away slowly with her face full of tears.

“I love you,” was all I could say to her before everything went black.

THE SURVIVORS?

#Episode_5

My eyes shut open, and I found myself staring into the shinning eyes of Alex, who I knew to be Willy’s best friend. I can’t believe I made it alive. Willy must have saved me, but why? He should have let me die and free me from this misery.

Smiling at me.”how you feeling?” Alex asked, with a concern look.

I gave no reply staring back at him. I still couldn’t believe he knew everything about Willy, yet he stays being friend with him. I can’t un-derstand how a man who has a good job, a good life, and a great home would be best friend to Willy the son of a killer.
“It’s okay. I un-derstand.” He said as he lifted my right arm up. It hurts and I felt like crying but I knew I was too strong for that. The bastard who sh0t me thought I was dead by now but luckily I survived.
“Sorry.” I heard Alex concerned voice.
I sat up looking at Alex with my pleading eyes, asking for his help that I nee-d to escape.
“I can as-sure you that if you choose to leave, your life won’t be worth living.” Alex said bluntly, as he brou-ght out his phone and left the room. I don’t get him either.

✒✒✒Willy POV✒✒✒
Dad told me about the as-signment he wanted to operate on, but I showed no interest. I never liked his work one bit, but having a man like Adams as your father, you can never go against him. Whatever he says is final.
“I don’t care what you do! You’re with me in this business! Are we clear?” He had said the day I fought with him over some stupid work he wanted me to do for him.
When he showed me the pictures of the family, I couldn’t deny it, the beautiful face of the young lady tra-pped me, that I couldn’t help but felt like knowing her. Seeing how beautiful she really is for real, but I knew it was just for fun. Nothing special.
Ever since I saw her picture, everything inside me wanted me to meet the girl. But I never wanted to get involve. Besides, those pretty girls sometimes act with no manners, so I wanted to save my bu-tt away from that.
But Alex, my best friend, told me to take it as a challenge and give it a try. Few months before Dad’s operation, I did some research on her. It surprised me that how beautiful as she was, she never had a b©yfri£nd. When I got that information, I decided to give it a try.

At twenty one. I had my own car but wasn’t proud of it because Dad bought it from his dirty money. I packed at the side of the road as I saw her with a girl entered an eatery. The other girl looked a bit like her except that the girl was darker than Juliana.
The two walked in and I followed behind. I took my seat somewhere else, and couldn’t help but glance at her direction. The other girl saw me and smiled before she turned to Juliana, and I knew she was going to tell her about the gorgeous guy that kept looking at her. I know I am, because whenever I hit the club, ladies would throw themselves at me. The handsome face is enough to make you blus-h when you see me, and the tallness, ladies just love it.

As I expected, she turned to my direction and looked back at the other lady, as she blu-shed and later pout her smileyl-ips.
I felt like tasting those lusciousl-ips. The more she blu-shed at what the other girl said, made her looked more beautiful.
She pout again, obviously to contain her laughter but suddenly she bur-st into one and she really looked so happy. But something inside me questioned me, ‘ how would she feel when she lost the people she
cares about in this world? Would she still be happy?’

Minutes later, she got up from her seat and walked up to one of the workers. As she pas-sed beside me, her tiny purse fell to my side and I immediately picked it up. I opened it to have a look at it, and I saw the picture of the other girl with her name written un-der. ‘Catherine’.
They looked a bit alike, but Dad told me Juliana was the only child of the couple.

I sh0t the thoughts away and quic-kly closed the purse, as I saw her walked back.

“Miss.” I called and stood up.

“Yes,” she replied in her soft voice, as she st©pped, turning to my direction.
I raised her tiny purse up. “Looking for this?” I asked.

“Oh my gwad! It’s mine. Thank you so much.” She smiled gratefully at me.

She seemed sweet, so I complimented her. “There is nothing a man can’t do for a beautiful girl like you,” I tried to say in my S-xy voice, getting a broad smile from her.

“Wow, Really!” She blu-shed and pout again. “Thank you for the compliment,” she offered a smile that made her looked more beautiful.

“Shhh…” I st©pped her. “Pretty girls don’t say thank you,” I said and I saw her blu-shed even more.
“Wow!” she said again, and leaned towards me.
“Don’t you think someone as ugly as you also deserve a compliment for having a sweet mouth.” She said sarcastically and I laughed. She just said I’m handsome, and did she just say I have a sweet mouth. She was fun, and bold. I quic-kly went straight to the point not wasting more time.

“Don’t you think he deserve to know you better…like…can I have your contact?” I finally asked.

She raised a brow at me, but somehow, her eyes were on someone else, as I heard.

“Yes! Juliana just say yes.” The other girl whispered at my back and I couldn’t help but smile. Like she knew what I asked Juliana, that she just shouted, ‘say yes’.

She smiled and stretched her hand towards me. I brou-ght out my phone and handed it to her.

They left and I slowly got up, and find my way out.
That was how I finally got to know her. When I told Alex about her, he laughed pretty ha-rd and told me to go on.

Suddenly, we hit it off. She was as sweet as I met her that day. I wouldn’t believe I fell for it. But I only told myself, it was just a challenge, and nothing else. But Alex wouldn’t st©p pestering me that I felt the same way. Later on, I realized my feelings for her was real, when it was time for Dad to carry out his plan, I had to st©p showing that I care and that was the biggest mistake I made.

When I was told she left after the incident ten years ago, I traced her down to her humble husband Mark Robert. She was happy with him and had a child which looked just like her. I decided not to bother her new life and let her be.
Some days after her husband died, which I was sure Dad was behind it. I received a call from Larry, who told me Dad was on his way to meet Juliana.

I didn’t believe Dad either when he begged me to keep working for him and he return, he would leave Juliana alone. That was the reason why I kept my eyes on Juliana and told Larry to always inform me if Dad was planning anything against her. So when Larry told me that, I knew Dad was up to no good.
But unfortunately, when I got there, the deed has been done. She was sh0t and I could see her gro-an ed in pain. My hands were stained by her blood, and I quic-kly got them cleaned. I left and immediately called Alex, who work as a doctor for help. He knew Juliana and quic-kly offered his help.

I went straight home to Dad, and r0ûghly bur-st into his office.

“What the hell have you done Dad?” I shouted at him, and I knew my eyes were burning.
“That I finally completed my job.” He said in an annoying tone.
I slammed my hand on his desk.
“Dad don’t provoke me! This isn’t what we agreed on.”

“Be careful.” His voice was low and relaxed as if nothing was happening.”Not re-ady to buy a new desk plea-se,” was all he said, and that provoked me.

“Dad!” I called out loudly. “I’m warning you. Don’t act as if nothing is wrong. And listen to this,” I walked closer to him.

“We’re done! Done!” I screamed to his face. Immediately, there was a frown on his face and he looked very angry, as his hand went to my throat.

“Watch your ton-gue son. I am your father! And you, will listen to whatever I say!” His voice was shrilled with anger. “And listen,” he said and we both stared at each other.
“It’s better being your father, and your boss…than be your enemy.” He stated clearly and re-leased me.

“No Dad. You’re Damn wrong! Damn wrong!” I cried. “The day I st©pped being your son, was the day I realized I nee-ded a better father than the one who boss me around!” I said to his face and I saw his face contorted with rage.

I didn’t wait for him to reply as I stormed out of his office slamming the door behind me. He made a big mistake going after Juliana again, because this time, I won’t take it easy with him

As I walked out, I saw pain flashed throu-gh Angela’s eyes. I couldn’t get how a father would wish his children work with him in this dirty job. I knew if Mom was alive, Angela would never take p@rt in this dirty job.

I got inside my car and was about to start the car when my phone beeped and I picked it up to see a message from Alex and four missed calls.
I unlocked the message and re-ad.
She has woken up.

I smiled to myself.

“Good job Alex.” I praised him, though he wasn’t there. I started the car and drove out of Dad’s compound.

✒✒✒Juliana POV
When Alex left, a nurse c@m£ in to give me drugs. I thought of what to do because I can’t risk it again. Once he knows I’m alive, he would find a way to terminate me again. The idea c@m£ instantly and I couldn’t believe I would do that. But have got no choice. I told the nurse I would like to use the toilet. She pointed with her f!nger showing me the toilet. I moved to the front a bit, picked up the plank lying on the floor and slammed it on the nurse head as she fell to the ground unconscious.
I’m sorry. But I have to save my life. I muttered to myself.
I changed into her uniform, packed the things she brou-ght aside and find my way out.

I couldn’t believe my legs could run that fast. So happy they’re in good condition. I entered a bus without knowing where I was going. Some hours later, pas-s£ngers in the bus got down. The driver asked for his money but I couldn’t produce any money. He insulted me and shoved me out of the bus.

This time around, I was messed up from head to toe. There was no money on me to get something to eat. And I almost died of hunger after three days of taking nothing. Before I met Linda who took me in and took great care of me.
