My heart skipped as Akira spilled the wine on Niran. If Father wasn’t in a good mood, that would have been the end of her and I would have done nothing about it, whereas it was all my fault.
“You were staring brother.” Hana whispered to my ears and I turned my head to look at her.
“Of course not.” I denied keeping a straight face.
“I saw you. And you staring at her almost cost her her life. You should be careful.” She whispered and I sighed.
“It isn’t what you think, and I never meant for her to get into trouble.” I whispered to her ears and she nodded.
“I know Arjun. But our big brother doesn’t see it that way.” She said and I turned my head to look at Niran.
I could see anger in his eyes, and I knew he wanted nothing less than for father to order for her head to be fed to the dogs.
He stood up all of a sudden and walked out of the party. I looked at Hana and she sighed shaking her head.
“Akira is already marked by Niran. And you know what that means.” She said and I bowed my head. It was all my fault.
“I will talk to him.” I said standing up and running after him. I caught up with him on the way to his Chamber on the forth floor.
“Niran.” I called and he stopped without looking back.
“Didn’t you see what Father just did? He spared that lady who didn’t deserve to be spared.” He said angrily and I walked to his front.
“Niran that was a silly mistake and Father saw that too okay?” I muttered and he shook his head negatively.
“No. Father spared her because he was too happy to kill, not considering the fact that I was just mocked by that filty thing. She spilled Wine on me, on Prince Niran’s apparel. There is no mercy for that.” He said and I breathed out not knowing what to say anymore.
“Niran I know you are angry, and she ought to pay. But since Father gave her another chance, you should to. And the next time she acts like that, I will be there to support you.” I said and he looked at the throne again where father was seated.
“Well that’s exactly what I want. That she crosses my path and Father gives her that judgement he should have given her today.” He said walking away.
I turned to look at him as he walked away. I know Niran is this heart ha-rdened man. Akira must do anything in her power to about him.
If not, she would be killed. And I can’t let that happen. I nee-d to warn her. I began to walk back to the party when I saw Nikita walking towards me.
“Nikita.” I called stopping her and she bowed her head immediately.
“We nee-d to talk.” I said taking a turn away from the party and she followed me. We got to a corner where no one was and I stopped walking and faced her.
“I’m all ears my Prince.” She said with her head bowed.
“I nee-d you to place a warning to the new ladies brou-ght in. You saw what just happened with one of them, and I think they are your responsibility now.” I said and she nodded.
“What do you nee-d me to do?” She asked calmly.
“You nee-d to tell them to stay away from trouble. Most especially away from Niran if they love their lives. He hates them now, and if they cross his path next time, he won’t hesitate to execute them.” I said and she nodded.
“I will do exactly what you have asked of me. And I am sorry about Akira’s foolishness.” She said with her head bowed and I nodded.
“You should tell that to Niran. He was the one that got messed up.” I said walking away. I walked back to the party and sat next to Hana.
“How was your chat?” She asked and I sipped my wine.
“She is still on the edge of his anger. If she doesn’t any little thing to him, or anyone, he would execute her.” I said and she nodded.
“I think she should just be a good girl then.” She said.
“I hope so.” I mumbled staring into space.
?NIKITA ?
I got to their room and opened the door, I walked in to meet Akira sobbing on the bed.
“Akira.” I called and she sprang to her feet at the sound of my Voice.
“I am so sorry Ma’am Nikita. I didn’t know what happened.” She mumbled in tears.
“No one knows when mistakes are going to happen. But in this Place, ruled by Maeko, you nee-d to be extra careful and do without mistakes if you want to live.” I said and she nodded sadly.
“I acted stupid and I almost got beheaded. It’s terrifying.” She muttered in tears.
“I know Akira, and that’s why I am here. To warn you never to make that mistake or any mistakes again because you won’t be spared.”
“You are my responsibility now. And anything that happens to you is all my fault here. So I have come to warn you, do what is right and stay away from troubles. Not from only Prince Niran, but from everyone.” I explained and she nodded cleaning her eyes.
“Don’t you think I should go apologize to the prince after some hours? Maybe he would listen and would have calmed down.” She said and my eyes wide-ned.
“You would so no such thing Akira. Going to his presence will trigger his anger even more. Prince Niran is the most complicated person in this palace.”
“He doesn’t calm down. The same anger he is feeling right now, is the same he will feel when he keeps seeing you.” I said and I saw fear in her eyes. I could see fear radiate all over her body.
“How are you so sure? Has this ever happened before?” She asked and I nodded.
“Rhoda was to take food to him in his Chamber, she was careless and the she spilled the food right in front of Prince Niran.”
“He was so angry, that he requested for her head. They did exactly as he ordered and the king could do nothing about it.”
“You should so thankful to your ancestors that this happened when the king is in his best moments, he would have left you to Prince Niran, and you would be dead by now.” I said and she began to shiver.
“Does anyone even survive here at all?” She asked in frustration.
“I am still surviving. Do as I tell you and everything will be just fine.” I said to her and she nodded slowly.
“Thank you Ma’am Nikita.” She said and I smiled.
“You should get back to the party.” I said and her eyes wide-ned.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Not after I just escaped a cruel death sentence. I don’t want to come face to face with the Prince again.” She said and i smiled.
“Prince Niran left the Party in anger. And you can’t stay here when you have things to do out there. So pull yourself together, get back to work and make sure you don’t make an silly mistakes anymore. Two mistakes In a day can lead to death.” I said and she nodded.
She reached for her jar which was empty already and carried it.
“You should fill that up. You won’t stop serving wine till the Party is over, which is at dawn.”
“I will pas-s the message I told you now to Mei and Vanna Tomorrow morning. They can’t get Into trouble un-der my watch, most especially Mei.”
“I don’t know what to do with her. She is just so stubborn.” I mumbled sighing.
“I will talk to her too. She is still not believing we are slave for real.” She said.
“You all should start believing now. I was once In your shoes, and after a while I knew I should focusing on one thing, staying alive.”
“If you are wise enough you would do the same. Get back to work.” I said and she nodded walking out of the room.

It was morning already, I woke up feeling streets out due to yesterday’s party. It was until dawn I came to rest.
I pressed the bell that was next to my bed and waited for my maids to come in.
After few minutes, the ten of them rushed in. I think it’s high time I discarded some of the old ones.
And ones they are discarded, they are turned to the palace slaves. They sweep and keep the palace clean.
“Good morning my Princess.” They greeted bowing their heads.
I stood up and they reached for my robe and began to get it off. The new ones reluctantly joined not knowing exactly what to do.
But since they seemed wise they followed their leads. Some went to the bathroom to prepare my bath.
Some had towels in their hands and some were at my closet looking for a new apparel for me today.
Mei, Vanna and Akira helped my clothes off by loosing the rope at the back. I allowed them do it and as soon as the cloth was off, I stepped out of it leaving me nak-ed.
They stepped back and bowed their head. I looked at them and sighed.
“You led me to the bathtub. Just two of you.” I said raising up my hand and waiting for any two of them to take it.
Finally Akira and Venna took my hand and led me to the bathtub which was already prepared by the older maids.
They helped me in the large bath tub and I laid in it. Two of my old man, Clara and Maureen climbed into the tub with me and began to scru-b my body with the foam.
The rest of them stood back with their head bowed.
“I will be discarding some of you today. Since new ones have joined you.” I said with my eyes shut and I began to hear murmurings.
I opened my eyes and everywhere went silent again. I kept ruminating on those I was going to discard and then only two names came to my head.
Annisa and Indah, the eldest of my maids. I picked them the second year of father’s quest for power which was three years ago.
After they were done with bathing me, I stood up and stepped out of the bath tub. They wrapped the towel around me and held my hand to the room.
I stood in front of the mirror and they began to clean the water off my body.
“So I have decided who I am going to discard two of you, which happens to be the oldest of the maids.
“Annisa and Indah. You are hereby released from being my maids.” I said and I saw sadness on their faces.
They knew very well that once they were released they would be thrown into the palace to be general maids.
Until it’s In father’s wish to let them go finally, and only the heavens knows when that would happen.
The rest of the maids collected my garment and stuffs from them and they walked out of the chamber In tears.
I knew Mei and her two friends won’t know what is going on. But I leave it into the hands of Nikita to do the explanation.
The rest began to dress me up when the door opened and I saw mother walk in. I saw her throu-ghthe mirror.
“Excuse us.” She said and all my maids bowee their heads walking out of my chamber.
“What’s going on Mother?” I asked as I saw her smiling as she approached me.
“Princess Katika is arriving soon.” She said and I smriked.
“And what’s so exciting about that? You should be saying that to Niran not me.” I said and she exhaled.
“I am here to tell you to be at your best behavior when she is here. I know you don’t like her, but you nee-d to act nice.” She said and I looked at her.
“Mother I will act nice when I see she is worth it. She is just too proud for my liking.” I said and she held my hand.
“Katika is your brother’s wife to be. You can’t be mean toward here.” She said and I faced the mirror.
“I will try.” I said looking at myself.
“You should get a new apparel today. It’s a lovely day, so you won’t be wearing that.” She said and I nodded.
“I am not wearing a new apparel to impress Katika, I am wearing it because you asked me to.” I said and she smiled nodding.
“Thank you Hana. I will leave you to prepare now.” She said walking out of the room.
And as soon as she was out, the maids came back into the room.
“Change of plans. A new apparel.” I said and they bowed going to my closet to get it.
I looked at the Akira and Venna throu-ghthe mirror and I saw how silent they were. They were nothing like Mei.
“Is this how you two are or you are acting this way in front of me?” I asked and they looked at me.
“We don’t un-derstand you my Princess.” Vanna said with her head bowed and Akira did the same afterwards.
“Are you two always this quiet?” I asked and they both nodded.
I took a last stare at both of them before facing the mirror again. They finally clothed me with the fine linen mother picked for me and I was ready to go.
I just hope Katika doesn’t step on my toes, cos it won’t be funny at all.
“You can go now.” I said and they all left the chamber.
I walked to the door and asked one of the guards in.
“My princess.” He said bowing his head.
“Call me Aaron. I nee-d him here now!” I said and he nodded. He walked out of the chamber and I walked back to the mirror lifting up my clothes.
I looked at myself in the mirror once more, satisfied with the natural looks I had on.
⭕ AKIRA ⭕
“She seems nice to me.” I said as three of us hit the hallway to our room.
“I like her too. I never expected the princess to be that kind.” Venna added.
“I guess you two are missing the part where she discarded two ladies, though I don’t know the meaning, I know it’s nothing good for sure, because they left the chamber crying. So sorry if you hear a different compliment from me, but I will say they are all the same. Unmerciful egocentric people.” Mei said and Vanna placed her hand on her mouth.
“Mei you would get yourself killed with this mouth of yours.” Vanna said while I just stared at both of them.
“You can keep complimenting anyone you want to, while I keep looking for a way to get us out of here.” She said walking ahead of both of us and Vanna looked at me.
“I hope she wouldn’t get herself killed.” She said and I heaved.
“I hope so too. We just nee-d to keep talking to her. She is still our friend.” I said and she nodded.
Just then, I sighted Ma’am Nikita from afar talking to a young looking man. I stared at them Wondering who the young man was.
“That is Aaron. Nikita’s son.” A lady said from behind and Vanna and I looked back in haste.
“Nikita has a son?” Vanna asked and the lady nodded.
“I am Kay.” She said and we smiled.
“I am Vanna and this is Akira.” Vanna said and she nodded.
“I know you. The quiet maids of Princess Hana.” She said and we both arced our brows.
“I am one of the maids of Queen Amber.” She said and we both nodded smiling.
“Nice meeting you.” We both chorused and she smiled too.
“I should go now. I can’t keep the Queen waiting.” She said and we made way for her.
We looked at her as she walked away and then we saw Aaron and Ma’am Nikita coming towards our way.
“It looks like you girls want to talk to me.” She said smiling and we nodded.
I looked at Aaron and he stared back at me too. He looked handsome and had this cute little eyes.
“Hey.” He said to me and I smiled softly.
“Hi.” I said and Ma’am Nikita cut the conversation with her cough.
“We should discuss now.” She said and we began to walk away from Aaron when the thick voice of a man stopped us.
We looked back and then I saw a familiar guard. It was the guard from Princess Hana’s chamber.
“Aaron the Princess seeks your attention immediately.” He said and I saw fear on Ma’am Nikita’s face.
“Why did he do?” She asked fearfully but the guard said no word.
“I will be fine. Go on with them, I will be back soon.” He said to her and she nodded after hesitating for some seconds.
He followed the guard and we stared at them till they were out of sight.
“What does Princess Hana want with Aaron?”
