“You like him don’t you?” Amy found herself asking. Jade had started a relationsh!pwith Cale by constantly defending him and seeing only the good in him despite all the warnings that were been given to her. And here she was repeating the same mistake again. Did she just say Jake was more than a mere wom-anizer?
‘Of course he’s a hellish wom-anizer, who sleeps with both demons and humans’ She thought to herself.
Jade was startled by Amy abrupt question. Her eyes sh0t up to look at Amy in shock.
“Wh- y-y are you asking me that?” Jade asked back, her voice was quite shaky.
“Answer the question Jade. Have you fallen for Jake?” Amy could feel her heart racing on behalf of Jade. She really didn’t want to hear the answer that would make her begin to fear for her friend’s poor heart again.
Jade wanted to answer that question alre-ady. She had an answer in mind, and a perfect answer at that. But couldn’t say it out. Her ton-gue has refused to roll of the floor of her mouth.
‘It’s a NO! Jade. What’s holding your ton-gue’ She cried in her mind. As much as she wanted to scream the biggest NO in the world, she found herself mysteriously ton-gue-tied.
Her heart was saying something totally contradicting with what her br@in was telling her. Amy question posed as a self reflecting question to her.
Does she like Jake Beau?
Her head screamed no, but her heart was beating and spelling the word, ‘YES’
Has she fallen in love with him?
She wasn’t sure, or maybe she was but she didn’t want to admit it.
Lair couldn’t help but look at Jade carefully. From the way herl-ips kept opening and closing like a fish out of water, and also from the way her pulse quic-kened, he alre-ady had his answer.
From his little knowledge of psychology and from how well he has known his friend it seems Jade was in denial.
“You like him” He told her, he wasn’t asking. Jade snapped her head towards him, her eyes looking at him with some sort of desperation.
“Don’t say that” Amy snapped at Lair.
Lair completely ignored Amy, he stood up from his seat and walked over to sit by Jade’s side. He put his hand around her and said, “Jade you know you like him and have fallen for whoever he is. So you can st©p denying it now” his tone was firm and defined.
Jade remained still for a couple of minutes, a thick wave of silence b!owing throu-gh the room. All eyes were on Jade, waiting for some reaction. Jade had just recently noticed her feelings towards Jake, and as much as she wanted to deny it, she couldn’t.
She slowly turned back to Amy. Amy got her answer from the way Jade was looking at her.
“Jade plea-se don’t say it” She said when she noticed Jade’sl-ips moved.
“Jake isn’t good for you. He’s my boss and I know him well. That man will break your heart…maybe even more than Cale did. He has never been in a relationsh!pand only uses women for his own plea-sure. Jade plea-se not Jake. It can be anyb©dy else but Jake. That guy is a casanova”
Jade un-derstood what Amy was trying to say. Jake’s promiscuous life was not something hidden, it was something she has witnessed herself. She knew Amy was looking out for her. After all she was the one who stuck by her when Cale betrayed her and broke her heart.
Jade sighed exaperatedly, “Amy I know who he is, but I can’t change the face that I alre-ady feel something for him. I swear I didn’t plan it. This just happened like this. He might be bad in some areas but…”
“Might be bad in some areas?” Amy scoffed interjecting Jade. “He’s worse than bad. He’s terrible!”
Amy moved closer to Jade and held her hand, “Baby girl believe me, Jake is the worst kind of man out there. He has cliques of girls throwing themselves at him and believe you can’t handle that. He spends every night in the club with different women. Honey, that’s not the type of man you want in your life”
Lair noticed the way Jade’s countenance changed. There was a pained expression on her face, she was begging to be heard, but Amy was just going on and on. Amy’s words were probably going to make her hate herself for liking such a bad man, as Amy painted the poor guy.
“Amy st©p” Lair roared, ma-king Amy glare at him.
“Can’t you see what you’re doing isn’t good for her. She doesn’t nee-d this from you, from us. You should be helping her and not scaring her”
“Isn’t that’s what I’m doing?” Amy snapped.
“Hell no, you’re far from helping anyone right now. Okay, let’s as-sume you’re right and he is as bad as you say, and he has a few flaws, does that make him less of a human being? Yes, maybe he does all those things that you’ve said, but that doesn’t mean he is incapable of loving anyb©dy or that he shouldn’t be loved in return. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not defending him and I also know you’re only looking out for Jade because of what happened with Cale, but come on give her a break. Everyone deserves a chance at love and you can’t tell the heart who to love. It has a mind of it’s own. If she likes the guy let her go for it and if it doesn’t work out, we won’t say ‘i told you so’. We’ll be here to comfort her and cheer her up and also boost her to go for the next right guy that she might get to love till she finds that perfect one that loves her back. So st©p being a anti-love agent and encourage her. Don’t tell me you’ll be happy if she hides away from having relationsh!ps after being hurt by Cale?” Lair asked her.
“Of course not” Amy replied immediately. Why would Lair say that?
“Then st©p being a baby bit-ch and act like a true friend” Lair hissed at her, his eyes glaring coldly at her.
Amy felt bad after Lair’s scolding. She didn’t mean to scare Jade, she was just looking out for her friend. Jade has always been supportive of her, and so she does deserve her own support now.
She bit her l!pand looked at Jade who looked lost.
Amy sighed out loud, she brushed hand down Jade’s hair and placed it on her shoulder. “I’m sorry” Amy apologized.
Jade lifted her eyes to look at her. “I know you’re just looking out for me. After all you warned me about Cale, but I didn’t listen” Her voice was low and gentle.
“Even though I’m still sorry. I shouldn’t have said all those things, knowing what they might do to you. I’m sorry honey” Amy hvgged her.
“You really don’t have to be. Maybe you’re right…I mean you’re always right about stuffs like this…it’s just that..”
“Shhhh. You shouldn’t listen to all my nons-en-se. Lair is right I’m not being a good friend to you. Jade I’m happy you’ve found love again, that you didn’t close your heart to love after that bastard broke you heart. I’m happy you picked yourself up and let your heart feel for someone again. If you love Jake and you’re sure he’s what you want then I’ll support you okay” Amy said warmly.
“Thank you” Jade replied.
“So what now? Are you going to tell him?” Amy asked excitedly. “Do you nee-d my help to organize your proposal? I can help you plan a ro-mantic dinner and you can invite him out and confess your feelings to him. You should do that, I swear I can use the distraction” Amy said gleefully. Lair couldn’t help but shake his head, the disastrous Amy was back.
Jade didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. She wasn’t sure she wanted to do all of that. By the way she wasn’t sure Jake had the same feeling for her. He has always treated her as a friend.
“Do you think I should do that?” Jade asked confusedly, looking from Lair to Amy.
“Hey don’t ask me about those stuffs, those are girls stuff. Look at Amy.” He stood up and walked to the other side of Amy’s be-d where he la-id down.
“So useless” Amy hissed.
“I heard you. Wait till you get sick again, then you’ll see how useless I am” Lair threatened, before closing his eyes, leaving the two women to make their plans.
Amy turned to Jade with a happy smile on her face. “I think you should tell him. Personally I think the Beau brothers are too daft. They’re so dumb they’ll never see how de-eply you like them even if you held a billboard over your head. If you leave it to him to discover your feelings, I can as-sure he might only know when you’re probably married with five kids” She sighed thinking about the idiotic junior brother who blatantly rejected her heart.
Jade could feel anxiety slowly rising inside of her, her heart pounding loudly behind her ribs.
She wasn’t sure if telling Jake was the right thing to do.

*Thursday, 6:30am*
Jade had a ha-rd time slee-ping last night. She couldn’t st©p herself from thinking about Jake and that k!ssand all the moments they’ve shared together. She felt giddy thinking about it. His cute smiles, his perfect dentitions, his perfect brows, his pale pinkl-ips, even his built. Everything about Jake was ma-king her heart swell. She didn’t know when she started liking him, talk more of falling for him. All she knew was that she was beginning to enjoy his company and the more she spent time with him the more she didn’t want it to st©p.
Waking up this morning she was more sure than ever that Jake was really what she wanted. The thought of Jake was bringing bu-tterflies to her stomach.
Jade was still lost in her reverie when her phone started ringing. She frowned at the unwanted disturbance. Who could be calling her so early in the morning.
Reluntanctly, she picked her phone from the be-dside table. Her heart skipped a bit when she saw it was Jake calling.
She blinked her eyes to make sure she wasn’t imagining things. She opened her eyes wi-dely and indeed it was Jake.
He was calling so early. Why?
Jade let the phone ring a bit more before picking up the call. She didn’t want to seem too excited.
She took a de-ep breath and calmed herself.
“Hello”
“Hi”
“Woke you up didn’t I?” Jake asked nervously. He didn’t want to disturb her, if not for the idiot that was currently ban-ging on his room door.
“Not really. I’ve been awake for a while” She replied.
“Okay”
“How was your night?”
“Good. And yours?” She asked in return.
“Ap@rt from the fact that I missed a certain friend after dropping her off, it was good” A smile tugging on hisl-ips. He didn’t know where he was getting the boldness from but he just wanted her to know he missed her.
Jade reflexively bit herl-ips as she blu-shed slightly. Did he really miss her?
“That’s good” She didn’t know what else to say. “So why did you call so early?” She asked looking at the time.
Jake scratched the back of his head. Damn that idiot Blake! He cussed in his heart.
“I’m sorry to bother you Jade, but the thing is my stupid brother is about to bring down my door, because he hasn’t talked to your friend yet”
“Oh my God. Jake I’m so sorry I forgot about it. We got talking and I forgot…” She tried explaining.
“Hey, it’s okay” Jake cut in, when he heard the way she was trying to explain to him.
Internally Jade was a bit disappointed that Jake’s call was because of his brother again. What was she expecting? She sighed inwardly.
But this was actually her fault. She had totally forgotten about Jake’s request if asking Amy to speak to his brother.
“Do you think it can be possible to help by silly brother contact her? I really want him to go away from my door before I commit murder”
Jade chuckled slightly. Jake and Blake reminded her of herself and Kevin.
“Maybe he should call her directly. Her phone wasn’t with her yesterday, but I’m sure she must have it now” Jade told him.
“Okay, thanks alot”
‘Was he going to hang up now?’ Jade thought with a frown.
“Okay, bye” She told him first.
“Wait!” Jake called out sharply.
‘He’s not going to hang up!!’ She couldn’t help but smile.
“Ermm..do you want to go out later after work? You know those plans we had yesterday maybe we can do them after work, only if you’re free of course. So what do you say?” Jake asked nervously.
Jade could feel her heart thumping with excitement. The damn stupid organ can’t keep itself calm anymore.
“Sure” She replied, a big smile spre-ading on herl-ips.
“Okay. I’ll see you after work” He said grinning stupidly.
“Sure”
“Have a nice day Jade”
“You too” She replied, before Jake disconnected the call.
The giddiness in her heart increa-sed after Jake ended the call. She was going to see him today.
Jade rushed out of be-d and dashed towards her wardrobe to pick out something to wear.
