EPISODE 80
©Sir Zach

“Hillary, Black is here” Shirley whispered into her ear as soon as she walked into Hillary’s room.

“Tell him to wait for me” Hillary replied, before sli-pping out of her be-d.

“Okay” Shirley hurried out of the room. Hillary has been very cranky this past few days. She knew what was eating her up but she couldn’t help her with it.

Soon Hillary gracefully walked down the stairs to the living room.

“Good evening boss” The guy burly man named black rose up to his feet and greeted her the moment he saw her.

“Mmm” She grumbled out.

“What’s the upd@t£?” She asked the moment she sat down on the chair while Black took his seat too.

“I think we know where the chairman is keeping Williams family” The guy said.

Hillary’s eye lit up the moment she heard him. She sat up straight and curiously asked, “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes boss” Black answered. “Our source told us” He added.

“Then what about William?” She asked.

“We’re not sure, but it’s possible the chairman might be keeping him there too”

“Where is this ‘there?'” Hillary inquired desperately.

“At the island” He told her. A sinister smile appeared on Hillary’s face as soon as she heard him. This was the best piece of news she has received all week.

“Then we must retrieve them. Gather your men together and wait for my signal” Hillary ordered.

“Yes boss” Black replied. He stood up to his feet and left.

“Hillary are you sure the chairman would really move them to the island? He wouldn’t be that careless. You’ve been after William and his family for the past five years and you’ve not been able to find them. Don’t you think the chairman might be letting out this piece of information on purpose?” Shirley asked.

“I hope he isn’t trying to toil with me. The shareholders meeting will be held on Monday. I nee-d Henry’s lawyer and that will on that day. Because that’s when I’m going to take back what rightfully belongs to me”

“But what if…”

“Enough Shirley, be positive.” She snapped. Shirley was beginning to annoy her. She has waited five years to finally get Williams location. She wasn’t going to lose him again.

“Henry as-sured me that my name was on that will. He gave that company and more to me.” She roared.

“I didn’t spend those years in such a boring marriage just to end up with those measly percent of shares. If that stupid father in-law tries to fv¢k with me, then I’ll put his lowly death on hold and pluck those stupid grandchildren off before his very eyes. He can die after watching them die, then I’ll take what was rightfully mine. Right now I just want that damn will. They have eluded me enough” She thun-dered startling Shirley before storming back to her room.

Enough of that old man reign. It wasn’t her fault that his son choose to die before the sti-pulated time. No one shoulder blame and for Henry’s weak heart. If he was strong, a mere case of infidelity wouldn’t have killed him.

If it was possible that she could stake her claim to the company with any proof then she would have done it long ago. But who would believe her when she had no evidence.

That sly fox knew this and that was why he had kept the matter of the will a secret and has kept Henry’s lawyer, William, away from her.

No matter how much he tries, she was going to get her hand on that fortune, even if it meant bringing chaos to that family. All her efforts over the years wouldn’t be brou-ght to waste.

Never!
…..

Jade had a grumpy face when she woke up the next morning. She still hasn’t gotten over Jake’s awkward attitude last night. She had thought about calling him to confirm if he has gotten home, but she had decided against it.

The worst p@rt of it all was that she didn’t know why his attitude was affecting her this much.

She looked at her phone, not sure what she was waiting for, maybe a missed call or text message from Jake perhaps? Not that he has done something like that before, but she somehow wanted him to. It was just wednessday, so she had to wait for one more day before she could see him.

Jade shut her eyes ti-ghtly as she ruffled her hair. Her own thoughts were begining to scare her. She didn’t know why she was thinking about Jake this much?

She reluntanctly rolled out of be-d and went into the bathroom. She still had to get re-ady for work. Oh and there was that Cale and his sickly face again. She really hoped she wasn’t going to meet him today. Because she might just hit him on his face or push a flight of stairs in anger.

“Why do you look like someone murdered your dog in your dream?” Kelvin asked as soon as Jade approached the dinning table.

“If you’re that dog, then I wouldn’t be looking like this, I might just throw a p@rty” Jade replied in a cold tone as she sat on the table.

“Uh oh…someones having a lovers quarrel” Kelvin tea-sed.

“Kelvin!” Grace called out in a warning tone.

“What? Don’t she look the same way she does whenever she and as-s-hole Cale gets into a fight. I mean she looks worse. Don’t tell me I’m the only one with eyes” Kevin rolled his eyes while Jade glared at him. If he wasn’t her brother she’d probably shove a handfull of sand down his throat.

Jade noticed the odd look her mother was giving her. “Not you too”

“What? I didn’t say anything” Grace said in her defence.

“You don’t nee-d to say anything. It’s written all over your face” Jade told her.

“But Kelvin is kind of right you know. You look really grumpy”

“Add cranky” Kelvin ch!pped in.

“Shut up” Grace and Jade said simultaneously, ma-king Kelvin lower his head as he picked a piece of toast.

Grace looked back at Jade, “What’s wrong? Did he do something wrong?”

“Why are you sounding like I’ve been wronged by my b©yfri£nd. I don’t even like him” Jade said in an embarras-sed tone.

“You don’t?” Grace asked suspiciously. “Then why are you acting like a dog who didn’t get a good pat from its owner?”

“Mother it’s not good to compare your child to a dog” Jade retorted.

“My child has been very happy lately since she started hanging out with a certain someone. I can’t help but compare when she starts acting like a bad…” Grace paused. “Nevermind”

“I guess I’ll just eat lunch at work” Jade stood up to leave.

“Really?” Grace c0cked a brow at her.

“Yes really. I don’t know what you guys are going to call me next. Maybe a cow..”

“Hahah….sist you’re too slim for cow. A goat perhaps??”

“Kelvin Peterson, you’re an idiot” She angrily hit him with her bag.

“Good bye mom, and stupid Kelvin” Jade greeted as she walked to the door.

“Wait sister, if that rich dude does ask you out, plea-se say yes. I know he can afford that new game set” Jade turned to glare at him.

“Don’t get angry. At least if you can’t find it get someone who can. I love you sister” He called after her even after she has slammed the door so ha-rd .

“Kelvin?” Grace called out.

“What? I’m just looking out for the interest of my sister”

“More like yourself” Grace said before leaving the table.

*Outside Jade’s house.*

“Love yourself” She muttered grumpily as she walked out of the gate.

“I like Jake? .What a joke” She grumbled un-der her breath as she walked to the bus st©p.

“Like that childish thing who’s always acting up” She kept up grumbling.

She was getting more pissed just by thinking about how her mother and brother has just tea-sed with Jake. Who didn’t even have the decency to call her after he got home.

That’s the kind of man she was supposed to like? Hell no, they were wrong.

Jade’s heart skipped a beat when she heard her phone ring. She hurriedly rummaged throu-gh her bag to find it. She didn’t know who she was expecting to call her, but the moment she saw Amy’s number, she couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed.

“Hey boo baby” Jade said the moment she answered the phone.

“Hey” Amy greeted in a low voice which alerted Jade.

“Why are you sounding that way?” Jade asked with concern.

“I’m sick” Amy replied

“Since when? What happened? Where are you?” Jade was worried.

“Hey calm down. It’s just been a day and it’s just exhaustion” Amy replied.

“Exhaustion? Why would you work yourself so bad? And you’re just telling me now??” Jade asked frowning even though Amy couldn’t see her.

“That’s why I’m calling now, before a little birdie tells you and you yank my head off.” She said referring to Lair who was currently glaring at her.

“plea-se come over after work. Lair wants to nag me to death, plea-se come save me okay” Amy pleaded

“Sure I will. Now take your rest. I will see you after work okay” Jade told her.

“Okay baby. You’re the best. I love you.”

“Love you too”
____________

Blake was bored out of his mind while sitting in his office. He had work to do but he couldn’t keep his head straight. He has noticed Amy’s awkward attitude towards him since that night Amy confessed her feelings to him. She seems a bit withdrawn and she was always abs£ntminded. Not too mention that she looked a bit emaciated. He didn’t know if all this changes were because of him, he was slightly feeling guilty.

It was lunch time and he didn’t know if he should go to her office and ask her out for lunch. They haven’t spoken much since they bec@m£ friends, maybe this would be a good opportunity for them to talk.

Blake walked out of his office to Amy’s but he was disappointedly greeted with an empty desk.

The disappointment in his eyes were evident and he couldn’t hide it. Did she go out for lunch alre-ady? Did she go with that guy again? He remembered how he had seen Amy with Ethan few days ago, and they had gone out together. She didn’t tell where they were going but he had a feeling they had gone out for lunch.

He sighed exasperatedly, his eyes lingering on her desk a little longer.

Cas-sandra the busy b©dy, who has been observing Blake since he stepped into the office couldn’t help but ask. “Sir Blake are you looking for Miss Walker?”

Blake turned to her and smiled though not his usual fond smile but it was still a friendly one nonetheless.

“Yes. I’ll come back later, when she’s back from lunch” He said as he turned to leave.

It seems Blake didn’t know she was sick and didn’t come to work. “She didn’t go for lunch” Cas-sandra announced gaining Blake’s attention. He turned to look back at her.

“She didn’t come to work” Cas-sandra added.

“Why?” Blake was surprised. Amy has never missed work since she joined the company. He might not talk to her much, but he knew that for a fact.

Cas-sandra sighed as she leaned on her desk. She hissed dramatically. ” Miss Walker seems to be having some troubles lately. I mean she’s always abs£nt minded this days” She paused for effect. She wanted to pique Blake’s attention. I mean what’s good gossip if the other p@rty isn’t showing any form of interest.

“She even got scolded by our boss” She said referring to their dep@rtmental director. “She made some mistakes while running some codes, that never happens before right. She’s such an effective lady. I wonder what’s happening to her lately”

Blake was getting really impatient. He didn’t know why he was still standing there listening to all the things she was saying, but he also didn’t know Amy was really that distracted this days.

To him she was the most capable hands they have in the company. At such a young age she has built a reputation for herself in such a company like theirs where competition was high. She was more efficient than the so called who had scolded her. Though he has shamelessly asked her to help him review some of his works a few times, this was because her work was always impeccable.

“So why is she abs£nt from work today?” Blake asked curiously.

” That’s what I’m saying. She has been very distracted…”

“Cas-sandra” Blake interrupted her before she went all history telling.

“Oh” Cas-sndra st©pped herself from talking to much and decided to go straight to the point. “There was a call this morning informing us that miss Walker wouldn’t be coming in today, because she’s sick. And I think it might be critical” Cas-sandra finally said.

Blake was surprised to hear that. Amy was sick? He wasn’t expecting something like that. Was she really critically sick?

Blake looked at her desk one more time and he felt quite uncomfortable. He didn’t like the thought if Amy being sick. That girl was always smiling and she was always busy with her work, so he couldn’t believe that lady was critically sick just as Cas-sandra has mentioned.

He dashed out of the office and headed back to his. He was feeling uneasy…as a matter of fact very uneasy.

He picked up his phone to call her and when he cli-cked the contact icon on the screen he remembered he didn’t even have her number.

$h!t! How was he going to call her now? He wanted check up on her.

Blake anxiously tapped on his desk, till it finally occurred to him to take her number from her colleagues.

He hurried back to her office to ask Cas-sandra and the others for it. He walked back to his office to call her but he was utterly disappointed when the number wasn’t reachable. He tried several times but it was same response, his call had gone directly to voice mail.

Blake bec@m£ more troubled. Was she really that sick? He didn’t like any of this. He would only be able to relax if he talked to her and was as-sured she was fine. He paced in his office as he thought of several possibilities of checking up on her.

He thought about getting her address from her file and paying her a personal visit or taking her guardian or relatives’ number which should be stated in her file. He didn’t know why he was this anxious, but he was sure he’d only be at peace when he hears from her.

Just as he was about heading for the HR dep@rtment, an idea dropped into his head and he quic-kly headed for Jake’s office instead.

“You must be daft. How many times have I told you to knock before entering my office?” Jake asked with a frown.

“I’m sorry bro, but I nee-d your help” Blake said. He remembered he had seen Amy with his brother’s mysterious lady, and from the way they had looked they seemed close. And of course he has seen his brother staging an act for that lady, so he was sure Jake could help him with his little problem.

“What is it?” Jake asked in a more gentle tone.

“Your lady in red is Amy’s friend right?” Blake asked just to be sure he wasn’t as-suming things.

Jake was quite confused. ‘His lady in red? When did he have a lady in red? And Amy? The name sounded familiar but he couldn’t really remember how he has acquainted himself with that name.

Blake noticed his confusion. He was almost sure of his calculations but how was he going to explain things to Jake.

“I mean your girl back at the club” Blake explained.

Jake finally un-derstood what he was talking about. Jade was his lady in red. How stupid of Blake to address her that way.

“Yes Why?” Jake tilted his brows at him. Blake was quite relieved when he heard Jake.

“Give me her number or rather still call her” He said hurriedly, ma-king Jake frown at him.

“I don’t have her number” Jake lied returning his attention back to his l@pt©p.

“You’re joking right?” Blake didn’t believe me.

“I’m not. How do you expect me to have her number?” Jake reasoned. He didn’t know why Blake was asking for Jade’s number, but he was sure it had something to do with Jade’s friend which he had rejected and made to go on a drinking rampage. He didn’t forget how she kept drinking back at the club and had called Blake a bad little Beau.

He was not going to help another man with their love life when be was still looking for ways to work out his own.

“Jake I know you have it. I saw her at the hospital and I’m sure with your skills you must have gotten her number” Blake muttered, frowning at Jake.

Jake furrowed his brows at Blake. as-s-hole.

“Why do you nee-d it?” Jake asked suspiciously.

“I can’t reach her and she didn’t come to work because she’s sick. She’s my friend and I’m worried” He explained truthfully.

“Not because you love her?”

Blake eyed Jake evilly when he heard the ru-bbish he just spewed.

“I said she’s my friend, I didn’t say girlfriend” Blake glared at him.

“Sorry man, I can’t give it to you” Jake declared.

“Why?”

“Because I don’t want to. Go take her address from HR or something and st©p bothering me” Jake hissed before glabcing back at the do¢v-ment on displ@yon the screen of his l@pt©p.

Blake fell silent and stared at Jake with stink eyes.

“Maybe I should tell her about your S-xual escapeds and let’s see what will happen. I tend to have a good memory and getting some video coverages from your favorite room at Grand Hills would be much of a has-sle. So big bro what do you think” Blake said with a evil look in his eyes, and he could also feel the daggers Jake was throwing at him with his eyes.

“You wouldn’t dare!” Jake growled.

“I was only checking, but it seems you like her after all. So give me the number or I’ll make sure you never get to eat what you had that night. Want to try?” Blake dared.

“So what’s it going to be brother?”
