“What?”

“What happened?” Jake anxiously asked. The expression on his face the moment Marcus exclaimed like that was horrendous.

Marcus looked at Jake who looked like he was sitting on the edge of a cliff. He almost cussed out when he heard what his surbordinate had just reported.

“Who took her?” Marcus asked.

Jake bit his li-ps angrily when he heard what Marcus had just said.

‘Someone took her? Someone other than Marcus’ men took Jade? What the hell was going on? Who the hell were all these people going after his girl?’

Jake snatched the phone from Marcus hand making the man completely stunned. Jake didn’t mind Marcus expression, he simply put the phone on loud speaker and asked, “Who took her?” His voice was as cold as ice and the anger in it was lethal.

“Boss?”

“Answer him” Marcus ordered his surbordinate.

Not sure who he was talking to, but when he heard his boss’ order he continued, “We have no idea. Her last location had showed the west side of the auditorium but when we got there we saw her being carried out by some guy. I think someone else is also after her”

Jake closed his eyes, he didn’t know what to say at the moment. He was blank.

Phil and Marcus looked at him and they could see the pained expression on his face. Phil gave him a comforting squee-zeon the shoulder, while Marcus hissed in his heart. This was why he had never been too involved with a woman. They always turned out to be a man’s greatest weakness no matter how strong he is.

Marcus hissed out and angrily roared into the phone, “So why didn’t you get her back, you fool?” He was also getting agitated.

“Boss we tried, but that pa-rt of the auditorium was too rowdy, we couldn’t make a move because that would compromise our position and before we could get an opportunity the person got into a car with her and drove away” The guy reported in a careful tone. He could tell the boss was angry, but why? He didn’t know.

“Boss is everything okay?” He asked out of concern.

“I want you to follow that car”

“Boss…I don’t think that’s possible anymore, because the car is long gone. Rex tried to follow it while the rest of us are waiting here”

“Tell them to come back now.” Jake said in a deflated tone. He pulled the root of his hair in frustration.

Phil looked at him, “What do we do now? I think it’s better we call the cops Jake. Things might get out of hand if we keep delaying.” He told him.

“Get me a laptop” Was all Jake could say. He didn’t have the time to think about anything else such as calling the cops. That might take more time. And they had no time.

Marcus was a little unsettled when he heard Phil mention the word ‘cops’.

“You know you can’t do that. That will put me and my boys at risk” He stated.

“I–” Phil slurred when he heard a loud shattering noise behind him. He turned around and he was surprised to see the hu-ge vase which had just been standing there completely shattered and an angry looking man standing by it.

“Get him a laptop, I’ll go call Mike and the guys” Phil said as he hurried away to go call the guys. He was scared he hadn’t seen Jake like this before. The man looked like he could kill anybody any moment from now.

Jake on the other hand felt like his head was about to explode. He whipped out his phone and dialled Jade’s number again, but it was still switched off. Whoever had her must have turned it off so it wouldn’t be traceable.

Soon Marcus returned with a laptop and also his men returned as well as Rick, Mike and Dan.

“How is he?” Mike asked with concern.

Phil hissed, “Don’t even ask. He looks terrible.” He replied as the others looked towards the direction Jake was seated, his face was buried in his palms.

Mike hissed out in anger, “This is all my fault. I should have recognized her earlier. I’m so stupid.” He cussed out. He has been berating himself over this since the incident happened.

They looked at him, Dan placed a hand on his shoulder, “You’re not to be blame. It could have happened to any of us” Dan tried to comfort him.

Mike didn’t believe that was true, “Jake must be furious”

“Come on dude, don’t say that, Jake would never blame you. You know him better than that. The guy is only like this because he’s worried for his woman, and he isn’t vexed with you” Rick told him.

Phil patted his back, “Don’t overthink it. Just be cool. Let’s just pray his girl is fine. Everything will be okay” Mike also added.

“Let’s go” He said before they walked closer to Jake.

Marcus stood in front of Jake as he stretched out his laptop to him, “Hey keep your temper down and don’t break it. My black list and debtors list are in here” Marcus warned but Jake glared at him and snatched the laptop.

“What do you want to do?” Dan asked.

“Find who took her” He replied coldly before looking at Marcus men that had just returned.

“Who can recognize the car?” Jake asked.

Jake had a serious expression on his face as he ferociously typed on the laptop. It’s been more than half an hour since Jade and her friend went missing, he couldn’t be still any longer.

“There, that’s it” One of Marcus men exclaimed when he saw the black Audi on the CCTV footage. Jake had hacked into the surveillance system of the city and was currently looking at the CCTV around the Regent Center. This wasn’t something he would do, but he had no other option. His father had always warned them not to involve themselves in stuff like this especially after Blake got into trouble for hacking into the traffic system and had resulted in a series of the accident around the city due to his youthful exuberance.

“Are you sure?” Marcus asked while the man nodded, “Yes boss.” He was certain about the car, and the others who had seen the car too confirmed it.

Jake look intensified by certain degrees as he looked at the car plate number. He copied out the plate number and sent it over to a number on his phone, before je-rking to his feet. He looked at the wa-istline of one of Marcus men and he grabbed the pistol that was tucked there surprising the others.

“Jake!” Phil and the others exclaimed when they saw a gun in his hand, but Jake paid them no attention as he began to stroll out of the lobby in large strides. With each second he had spent there his anxiety had grown by leaps and bounds. He couldn’t help but wonder what was happening to Jade right now. He’d kill the bastard that had dared to touch his woman, and also whoever it was that had ordered Marcus men to harm her in the first place.

He paused when something finally clic-ked in his head.

He turned around towards Marcus men that had been at the scene. “How many girls did you see him with?” He asked.

“Just one” One of the men replied.

‘Just one?’ So that meant Amy was still at the auditorium, probably waiting for Jade? She must be oblivious to the fact that Jade had gone missing.

Jake pulled out his phone from his pocket when he heard the notification sound. It was a location.

Jake hissed out in frustration, he didn’t know what to do at the moment. He had to save his girl as well as get his brother’s girl back. There was a possibility she could also be in trouble. What was he going to do now?

He looked at Marcus and he walked back to him. He pulled out his phone and searched throu-ghJade’s pictures she had uploaded on one of her media accounts. He had once seen a picture of Jade and Amy there.

“Give me your phone” He ordered.

“Why?” Marcus asked back, but Jake glared at him, and he reluctantly handed it over to him.

Jake quickly sent the picture to his phone and p@$$ed it back to him.

“She’s at the auditorium, find her and your father’s company is yours” He declared.

“Who is she?” Marcus inquired.

“Someone your destiny depends on” He coldly said before striding away.

Jake picked up pace as he began to jog to the car. He had thought about informing Blake and asking him to look for Amy but he couldn’t do that. What if she was in danger too? That would also exp-ose him to harm. Marcus was the best fit for the job. The auditorium was big and heavily crowded, thus it would be difficult to find her, but Marcus had men, and that meant extra pair of eyes for the job.

He prays that everything turns out well for all of them, else he wouldn’t know what to do.

“Come on guys let’s go with him,” Phil said in a rush, and the four of them hurried after their friend.

Marcus looked at the friends as they walked away in haste so they could meet up with Jake. He let out a frustrated sigh and signalled his men to follow him.

“Let’s go save this pretty lady” He ordered as he tossed his phone to one of his subordinates.

*Acrosoft*

Outside of Acrosoft, Blake was waiting for a certain someone to arrive. It was so late and he badly wanted to go home or go look for his brother since the butler had informed him he wasn’t home yet. He had tried calling Jake but he has not been receiving this call. He was worried for him.

Soon he saw Lair stepping out of his car and slowly approaching him.

“Hey Beau”

“Big man Walker” They greeted each other.

“Thanks for waiting man” Lair said giving him a half hu-g.

“Don’t thank me yet, I still don’t know what’s this meeting is all about. And I really don’t know why you wanted to see me here, and whatever this is can’t we just do it by morning?”

“I’m sorry man I really didn’t mean to bother you but you’re the only person I know can help me” Lair replied.

“How?” Blake co-cked a brow at him.

“I think someone is trying to harm my sister and my family”

Blake stared at Lair as he impatiently waited for him to explain what he meant by someone who wanted to harm Amy and his family.

“The thing is Amy’s ex has been missing and my mother had something to do with it –” Lair began to narrate the whole situation to Blake.

Blake’s eyes wide-ned as he listened to all that Lair was saying to him. He couldn’t believe all these have been happening to Amy yet she had kept a calm face about it, not that she could complain to him, but she has been acting all happy like nothing was wrong with her.

“I think someone is deliberately trying to hide him,” Lair said conclusively making Blake arch a brow.

“You think so?” He asked. Lair shot him a confused look. He didn’t know what Blake was trying to insinuate.

“What are you trying to say? ” Lair asked.

“I’m saying, what if this guy is the one who’s trying to hide himself?” Blake asked thoughtfully. His question made Lair fall de-ep in thoughts. What Blake was trying to say made a whole lot of sense. It could be that Micheal was the mastermind behind his disappearance. But how true could that be?

Seeing Lair fall into de-ep thoughts, Blake sighed, “Let’s see if we can retrieve those docu-ments. In the Cyberworld not all things can be lost forever. Don’t worry I’ll help you” But the truth he wanted to help himself, he had already made up his mind to help the moment he mentioned Amy’s name.

“Thank you,” Lair said with gratitude. He really wanted this Micheal issue to be handled as soon as possible. He didn’t want anything that could be at risk to Amy or any member of the family lur-k-ing in the dark.. He wanted it settled once and for all.
_________

*One hour ago.*

Amy was overwhelmed with shock when she saw the man standing in front of her. She has been staring at him unblinkingly, too afraid he’d disappear if she has much as blinked for a second. She couldn’t believe she was standing in front of him right now.

Amy was yet to say something, as a matter of fact, she was too stunned to say anything at the moment. She was more than bewildered. Her br-ain had gone AWOL, she couldn’t form any proper words in her head. All she knew was that she and her family have been looking for the man standing in front of her all to no avail, but here he was standing in front of her unscathed, looking very healthy. This was a miracle.

Micheal also looked overwhelmed with emotions as he stared at her. He let out a small smile and said, “You’re still as beautiful as ever”

Amy opened her mouth to say something, but no sound could come out. She could only gaze at him.

“You’re surprised right?” He asked and Amy slowly nodded her head. Surprise was an un-derstatement. She was astonished, amazed, stupified and every other word that can be used to express how she felt at the moment.

She wasn’t expecting to see him there of all places. Yes, she has been praying for him to be found, but seeing him make an appearance was something she wasn’t prepared for. He looked the same but somehow different. Amy gave him a once over, and she absentmindedly took slow steps closer to where he was standing.

“Mi…cheal?” She called out again in an almost inaudible and shaky voice.

“In flesh and blood, sweetheart,” He said flashing her a sweet smile.

Another wave of shock hit Amy when he smiled at her like that. Slowly she raised her hand and gently tou-ched his face and his warm cheek warmed her fingers.

It was truly him.

Amy felt her heart pounding once again. A tear rolled down her cheek as she abruptly pounced on him. She wrapped her hand against his wa-ist as she hu-gged him ti-ghtly.

“It is truly you” More tears rolled down her cheek. Those were tears of relief. She couldn’t believe he was here alive and well.

Her mind had thought about the worst of things. She had thought about him being dead, being incapacitated, sick or that something really bad might have happened to him, but here he was looking alive and well, and Amy couldn’t be any more grateful.

This was too good to be true. Her family could finally be at peace now.

“This is such a relief,” She said between sobs.

Micheal stiffened when she hu-gged him like that. She was hu-gging him so ti-ghtly and he didn’t know what to do.

“Michael, I’m sorry this is all my fault. I’m sorry for all my family did to you” She sobbed as she hu-gged him even more ti-ghtly.

He clenched his fist when she apologized. Was apology going to change anything? Was it going to give him back what he had lost? Was it going to raise back the dead?

No, it was not! He had lost so many things thanks to her and her family, and her apology wasn’t going to solve anything.

He reluctantly raised his hand and patted her back.

“It’s okay. It’s not your fault” He said in an attempt to comfort her when he really wanted to wring her ne-ck at the moment.

Amy shook her head as she continued to sob against his che-st, “No it’s all my fault. If it wasn’t for me, mother wouldn’t have done what she did to you. I’m sorry, I know you can’t easily forgive me, but I’m willing to do anything to correct my mother’s wrongdoing to you”

Micheal placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled her away from him. He looked at her face which was soiled with tears. He couldn’t help but notice her eyes, they were looking at him with much sincerity, that he felt his heart waver at her plea.

‘But was she truly innocent?’ He asked himself. No, he didn’t think so.

He looked at her face for a while, and said, “Will you really do anything to make me forgive your family?” He asked.

“Yes,” Amy hurried replied while she nodded her head.

“Then come with me”

“To where?” Amy inquisitively asked.

“Where I want to take you”

“And where is that?” Amy inquisitively inquired.

“You’ll see,” He said before covering her nose with a handkerchief. Amy tried to wriggle away from his hold when she perceived a foul smell from the handkerchief but she couldn’t help herself as her body gave and slumped towards him.
