EPISODE 8
Brina ordered herself a strong cappuccino and sat down at the farthest and empty table, when Calvin arrived.
“Could I join you, miss? Only if you don’t mind.” he asked casually.
He just wanted to meet the girl who stole his best friend/crush’s heart.
What if she has bad intentions on approaching Louis?
She might even be the usual gold digger who is pretending as if she doesn’t have any clue about Louis’ identity, who knows?
It’s better to have a clear picture of what this girl is up to.
Meanwhile, Brina who is about to take a sip of her coffee looked up at the source of the voice.
Standing right in front of her chair is a handsome well-built man with blonde hair and golden brown eyes.
‘Why does he look like the female version of Charlotte?’ Brina thought but quickly recomposed herself.
“Yeah, you can, please sit. I won’t mind.” Brina answered, before going back to looking into her phone.
Though he looked so cold and indifferent, she could see that he is not someone who likes to irritate girls and do those annoying actions to get their attention. So, she didn’t bother much with him.
Calvin smiled politely and sat down.
After he sat down, his order came and he started eating. Neither of them spoke anything but Brina continued to look around as if searching for someone. Though her attention seems to be in surfing throu-ghher phone, all her mind is busy in searching for Louis.
She simply couldn’t delete his thoughts from her mind…
And, this of course, didn’t escape the hawk-like eyes of Calvin. He un-derstood for whom she could be waiting for.
“Searching for someone?” He casually asked while eating.
Brina got startled but nodded her head, realizing that he was polite and asked casually.
“Yeah. Someone who helped me when I was in a dilemma on what to do.” She answered briefly while her eyes were still in search of the person who ki-ssed her and disappeared two nights before.
How dare he ki-ssher when she is drunk! Not that she minded it, she in fact liked it.
But it would have been more amazing if he ki-ssed her when she was sober.
Brina’s cheeks burned red as soon as she realized how perverted her mind has become. She never had these thoughts… never before.
Meanwhile, Calvin stared at her for a few seconds and slightly nodded his head again.
He actually didn’t expect her to answer.
And, why is she looking as if she is about to blus-h de-ep red? Did something happen between these two already?
However, the sincerity she just shown now, it made him a little afraid that he could be wrong about her.
What if she isn’t a gold digger?
…
And, at the same time…
“Is that a great person to me?” A de-ep and charming voice came from behind her and Brina instantly froze.
That voice…
It was like a warm sunrise on a sunny day which would bring jubilance and warmth to any girl with a lonely heart.
The happiest moments she spent with him on that day instantly flooded her mind and her heart filled with strange calmness and excitement.
It was as if fire and ice were coexisting in her heart.
Meanwhile, Louis who is dressed in formal yet extremely s-xy black suite walked towards her, his eyes solely concentrated on her back
That smooth and silky hair made his hands itchy to feel throu-ghthem, her milky sp-otless ne-ck ignited his de-sire to skim his hands over those s-xy curves of her ne-ck.
His throat became dry as he imagined how heavenly it would be if he gets to use his li-ps instead of his hands.
Everything about her incited his strangest yet de-epest de-sires. But, more than this physical attra-ction, there is something more de-ep and strange that has affected his heart and mind.
He has seen many beautiful women before and no one has ever invoked this de-sire in him. This woman here is the only one who has managed to make his mind go crazy.
And, his eyes always turn tender whenever he looks at her but at the same time something dangerous in the de-epest corners of his heart stir up aggressively.
It is his de-sire to possess and monopolize her. He wanted her all to himself, but, at the same time he felt an undeniable urge to make her the happiest woman in the world.
He wanted to give her everything she de-sires for!
What is this called, if isn’t love? Lust? Infatuation?
Though this is too soon to judge his feelings, he couldn’t help but feel that de-ep connection with her.
While his own heart is in frenzy, Brina is no different than him.
As Louis walked towards her, every step he took made her hold her breath.
She never felt this intense influence on her anytime, not even when she was in love a few years back… Her first love.
Meanwhile, Calvin who is surprised by the sudden appearance of Louis, continued staring at them.
Their expressions are truly worth seeing.
He has never seen Louis like this whereas, the woman whom he thought of as a fraud and gold digger is not one.
He could see that sincerity in her eyes.
“Were you talking about me, Brina?” Louis asked, taking a seat on her left.
Seeing her staring at him, he chuckled. So, he is not the only one who is feeling like this.
It’s mutual between them.
“Or, did you forget who I am, Ms. Parker?” Louis tea-singly asked.
Brina got startled for a brief moment but a smile crossed her li-ps.
She looked at Louis whose eyes were pla-yfully looking at her.
“How can I forget the person who has stolen a ki-ssfrom a drunken girl?” She pla-yed along.
Why does his prese-nce calm her heart, almost instantly?? All that weight, distress and melancholy….they just flew out of the window for a while and all she could feel is the ‘real’ her… the one who used to be mischievous, jolly and energetic.
Meanwhile, Louis is truly surprised that he couldn’t help but smile. He didn’t think that she would fli-rt back.
Maybe, she likes him too…
However, even Brina is surprised that she just fli-rted with someone.
It just sli-pped out of her tongue even before she could hold it.
She has always been someone who talks very limitedly…now and even in the past as well. She was not a person who fli-rts like this… she has always maintained her solemn and formal attitude.
Louis has not only brou-ght her past self but has also invoked some of the new shades in her.
What are her feelings for this man?
She is often losing her self-control whenever he is around.
Losing self control is something very foreign and peculiar to her…
“So, Ms. Parker, you did take my advice seriously then. I am glad that you came here for the interview.” Louis said, after a few seconds of looking at each other and wondering what is happening with their hearts and their minds.
“Of course I took your advice, mister. Who would say no to such a nice suggestion from a kind man?” Brina asked, her voice pla-yful.
Meanwhile, Calvin almost felt like choking his heart out.
Kind?
Did this woman just address Edward as kind?
“But honestly, thank you so much for helping me out. I really nee-ded this job” Brina thanked Louis, smiling sincerely.
“Don’t thank me, Ms. Parker. You deserve this job.” Louis replied, smiling so sweetly.
Calvin grumbled internally and couldn’t help but pity himself for being a third wheel whose prese-nce is currently being ignored.
“I hope I get selected.” Brina said.
“Let’s hope for the best, Ms. Parker. It will be my honor to work with you.” Louis told, making Calvin cough.
However, he controlled it and looked at Louis.
Seriously!?
He arranged this interview for this woman here and is acting as if he has nothing to do with it!!
“You are flattering me, you know that, right?” Brina laughed and couldn’t help but get surprised again.
How many days has it been since she laughed like this, excluding the day before yesterday, when she was not sober?
What exactly is this man doing to her?
She isn’t ready to have another heart break…
I hope it is working.” Louis joked. “Honestly, I mean what I said now” he smiled.
Only he knows how much he wants Brina to be around him.
It makes him very happy and peaceful.
And, he couldn’t help but wait for many more moments like these…
Later, after chatting for a while and finishing their coffee, Brina bid her farewell and returned back to the waiting hall.
Results will be out anytime soon…
“Where have you been, Brina?” Hailey, her new acquaintance, asked slightly worried.
“Went to fetch a coffee. Your interview? How did it go?” Brina asked.
“It’s fine. Charlotte is tough to impress and it seems like she holds the power among all the panel.” Hailey shared her thoughts.
Luke who just came out from the interview room, wiped away his imaginary sweat and sat beside Brina.
“Yeah, Charlotte is really damn tough, girls.” he commented, “She almost made me sweat with all those complex, hypothetical questions” he sighed.
Listening to her new friends, Brina couldn’t help but frowned.
Charlotte was very nice and easy going with her during the interview. But why are these both feeling the other way?
“She was fine with me.” Brina muttered.
“You might get selected, then!” he responded.
“Man! I want this job so badly. My family’s situation depends on whether I get this job or not. All of them are counting on me.” Luke told, as worry marred his face.
It is obvious that he is trying so ha-rd to make both ends meet and by seeing him, both Hailey and Brina felt sad for him.
Getting a job these days has really become very difficult.
“You will get selected. You did your best.” Brina told, patting his shoulder awkwardly.
“I have high hopes for you, Luke,” Hailey cheered him.
Meanwhile…
On the top floor, Louis and Calvin are looking at the CCTV screens.
“So, should I ask Charlotte to select those two also?” Calvin asked Louis who is exceptionally happy today.
He is in high spirits of his happiness, even humming some random songs.
“Yep.” Louis answered shortly, as his eyes lingered on the file while his fin-gers continually tapped on the table making some melodious rhythm.
“Aren’t you worried or insecure that Luke might get your girl? You only told that she likes common and simple people with ordinary family background.” Calvin asked.
“Luke actually did well in the interview. He has innate management skills and he will be a good choice for the company.” Charlotte, who just got out of the elevator, answered her twin brother.
“We can’t disqualify him just because he is being close with Brina.” she added, looking at Louis, waiting for him to answer.
He is possessive by nature and she really couldn’t even predict what his answer might be.
Thinking for a short while, Louis looked at his friends who were waiting for his answer.
“Charlotte is right. We must be professional while selecting employees, moreover, who are we to decide what Brina wants? It’s her life and we must respect her feelings.” Louis concluded.
“Aren’t you afraid she might get snatched away by him?” Calvin asked.
“I am sure she won’t. Our feelings are mutual and I have the audacity to face a little competition. Moreover, I think we are destined to be with each other.” Louis chuckled.
But, are they really destined?
What are the odds?
Their relationship started with a lie!
