EPISODE 25
*The next morning…*
It is still early for a late sleeper like Brina to wake up and she is still sleeping soundly on her bed with her arms and legs wrapped around Louis.
Old habits are indeed tough to forgot!!
That too when the person sleeping beside you is a handsome hunk with well toned body.
However, Louis is long awake. It is more appropriate to tell that he hadn’t slept at all.
First pa-rt of the night, he was still in his guilty conscience that he couldn’t confess the truth to Brina. Remaining pa-rt of the night, he spent trying very ha-rd not to loose his self control which is already threading on thin ice.
What can he do!!
Though Brina is dressed in her cute ice cream pajamas, her head is lying on his che-st and the intoxicating smell from her hair was constantly wafting his more, challenging his self control every time.
Her hands are resting on his abdomen, occasionally care-ssing his abs. And, whenever she did that he almost felt his heart popping out of his body.
He is very, very effected by her.
As a result of this involuntary seduction from his girlfriend, Louis is wide awake. Softly care-ssing her hair and cheeks.
Though his fin-gers are busy in doting on her beautiful face, his mind is elsewhere.
He only came out of his daze when his phone started vibr@ting on the beside table.
It’s his time to start his morning workouts and he couldn’t miss it because, Charlotte would be waiting upstairs to workout with him.
Reluctantly, he moved Brina’s head from his che-st and gently placed it on the pillow. After detangling his body from hers, he write a short message and quietly left the house.
He right away took the elevator and reached his flat. He had gym arena just beside his living room and by the time he arrived in his gum attire, Charlotte has already completed her weight lifting.
“How was your night with Brina?” Charlotte asked, not even turning around to look at him.
“Given with your late timing, I presume that you haven’t confessed to Brina yet” she added.
“I couldn’t” Louis answered as he started picking up his dumbbells.
“When are you going to tell her? This life or next life??” she asked mockingly.
As soon as Louis heard her mocking and sarcastic question he gr-unted his teeth.
“Shut up, Char” he replied, his voice so stern and angry.
To be frank, he actually doesn’t know how to answer her question.
He makes up his mind very adamantly to confess, however, as soon as he see her adoring face and innocent eyes, all his courage drain out of his body just like the air from a torn balloon.
This has not happened just once but thrice.
“Why should I shut up, Louis?? Didn’t you promise her that you won’t hurt her??”
“Aren’t you trying so ha-rd to woo her? But do you know that you are messing up the things just be staying calm? If you continue to hide the things like this, Brina might find about the truth one or other day, not from you but from other person. This will make you look even more guilty” Charlotte said.
Louis sighed.
“You think I don’t know that, Char!! However, there is another thing we have to take into consideration here.” Louis said as he stopped his working out and sat down in the nearby couch.
Even Charlotte followed his suite and sat down on the couch, beside him.
“You can share everything with me, Louis. Though I have crush on your girl, I will help you out. I am very kind hearted you know” she teased.
Louis chuckled.
“I know that, little devil” he teased, before going back to his serious mood.
“Let’s think that I have confessed to Brina that I am not am an employee but CEO. Will this change anything?” Louis asked Charlotte.
“Wjat I am trying to say is, we know that Brina doesn’t want a person who has extraordinary background and high social life. And, this is the very reason I have to put up an act that I am an employee. Now, if I just go and confess, will this change anything?” Louis reasoned.
“I am still someone who have the background she doesn’t prefer” he said.
“Ans, what if her fear is stronger than her love towards you? She might leave you!!” Charlotte agreed as she cobered her mouth with her palm, in shock.
It just dawned to her.
“Then, all my ha-rd work is just for nothing and in turn, me and Brina, both will get hurt. Mainly her. I don’t want that Char. I don’t want to be the reason she is hurt!!” Louis told, his voice so grave and depressed.
He couldn’t help but lie down in sofa with his head on Charlotte’s lap. There childhood best friends and they treat each other more like ‘brothers’.
They are habituated to sharing their problems and seeking comfort from each other.
“So, Louis, what do you want to do? Do you have a plan to stop this from happening” Charlotte asked as she pla-yed with his hair, just like always.
“I have a plan, Char. But, before implementing that I nee-d to be more specific what Brina want to prevent from happening” Louis said.
He started getting sleepy as he didn’t sleep last night.
“I think Brina is no ordinary as well. I think she is rich too and had a Highsocial life!! I just saw one of her friend who is screaming rich. There is something fishy and we should find out” he said, his eyes slowly fluttering closed.
“What should we do then?” Char asked. However, she didn’t get any reply.
He is asleep.
‘Poor guy. He would have been mentally exhausted’ Charlotte pitied him as she care-ssed his hair.
However, the main door which is actually opened a little, creaked open.
‘Louis, you forgot yo-” Brina was about to tell something but as soon as she saw Charlotte.
She suddenly stopped what she wanted to say.
Surprise is written all over her face.
Louis is sleeping in Charlotte’s lap while she is care-ssing his hair.
That’s.. that’s?
Brina blinked her eyes.
Not because of their position but because of Charlotte who is in Louis’s house.
She didn’t expect to see Charlotte there.
When it comes to their position. Well, she can’t just judge by that.
Harry has slept on her lap many times before. Because, whenever he feels so downcasted or stressed he would share it with her just by sleeping on her lap like this.
Even her ex best friend, Remus used to sleep like that. Sleeping on the lap is one of an inti-mate thing, but it can be said in many ways.
It can be a relationship of the best friends or siblings. And, it might be a boyfriend–girlfriend thing too.
Also, It’s too early to judge just by seeing them in this position.
Meanwhile..
As soon as Charlotte heard Brina’s sweet voice, she lifted her head up and it would be a lie if she claimed that she’s not surprised to see her here.
“Hi” Charlotte awkwardly greeted Brina. Not knowing what else to say.
Given with the position she and Louis are in together, there are high chances Brina might misun-derstand them.
“Uhmm.. Hi” Brina greeted back with the same awkwardness.
“Well, Louis got a phone call and he accidentally forgot his phone in my room” Brina said breaking the silence that has etched in the room.
As she said that, Brina walked towards Charlotte and handed Louis mobile to her.
“It’s big brother Leo” Charlotte said.
As Brina doesn’t know who that person is, she just shrugged her shoulders.
“Then, I will be going first, since Louis is still asleep” she told awkwardly.
She couldn’t put her fin-gers on what their relationship could be.
Charlotte chuckled.
“Don’t you have some questions that you want to ask me? Brina?” she couldn’t help but ask.
She is actually surprised when Brina didn’t overreact even after seeing her boyfriend with her like this.
It could be that Brina is mature enough not to judge people without a proper conversation. Or else, it could be that she believes in Louis a lot.
“I have-” Brina is about to continue but Louis’s phone starts ringing again and that made Louis wake up, startled.
“Brina?” he called out in surprise and then looked at Charlotte and their position.
‘I hope she didn’t misun-derstood me and Charlotte’ he thought to himself.
He, along with Calvin and Charlotte are best friends since the day they were born and in diapers. So he is very close to Charlotte as if she is his own sibling.
Moreover, she’s a les-bian and it is likely, highly impossible for Charlotte to develop any feelings for him. Right?
In addition to that, Charlotte has always treated him as a brother, and still does
While, he always looks after her like she is his sister. Well, a brother to be precise.
They have a healthy brotherhood between each other.
“Louis, it’s big brother Leo. It might be something important, I think. And why don’t you go and take that call? Hmm?” Charlotte said.
Leo is the former CEO of L&E corporations.
As he became very busy in other matters, he p@$$ed down the CEO position to his little brother, Louis.
Leo wouldn’t disturb him until or unless it is too important to talk about.
“Meanwhile, I will talk to your girlfriend” Charlotte added, chuckling.
Louis nodded his head. “But, don’t you dare to tell any of my embarr@$$ing childhood memories to Brina” he warned.
Charlotte stuck her tongue out and teased him. “I am gonna tell her all of your embarr@$$ing childhood stories. What will you do, huh? Go to big brother Leo, crying like a child? Like how you used to do in your childhood” she teased.
Louis gritted his teeth. “It is you who used to do that, you little devil” he rebuked.
Now, Brina will tease him for sure. Later on.
Meanwhile, Brina couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. Seeing them like this, she couldn’t help but reminisce of her happy memories with her brother and sister-in-law.
It used to be so much fun. She also used to complain about her brother to her sister-in-law just like how Charlotte is doing now.
A faint sadness clouded her eyes but disappeared as soon as it came. How much she misses them.
Louis, who heard his favorite chuckle, smiled at Brina. Standing up, he gave her a hu-g and pec-ked on her forehead.
“I’m gonna make your favorite coffee after I finish taking this call, okay?” he said to Brina while ru-b-bing her back affectionately.
However, he missed the sadness in her eyes which had disappeared as soon as he hu-gged her.
Brina smiled and nodded her head as she leaned her head on his che-st.
If his and Charlotte’s relationship is something that has to be hidden from her, they wouldn’t be acting this way.
”I did a right thing by not overreacting” Brina thought.
“Hey, Louis. What about my favorite coffee?” Charlotte asked, pouting her li-ps like a duck.
“You both actually share very similar tastes” he said, still hu-gging Brina.
Charlotte smi-rked.
“See, didn’t I tell you?” she teased, wiggling her eyebrows at Louis.
What she meant is, ‘See, aren’t we a perfect couple together? We share some similar tastes’.
Louis shook his head and went to his room to talk to his brother.
“Well, actually. I didn’t really expect to see you here” Brina said.
“Louis is my childhood best friend and workout pa-rtner. We workout together mostly at evening times. But, today we have a meeting till late night, so it is not possible” Charlotte said.
“Even my brother Calvin sometimes accompanies us, but he is out of the city” she said.
“Calvin is your brother?” Brina asked.
“My twin brother to be precise” Charlotte corrected.
“Wow! Cool” Brina said.
It is still awkward between them to talk so casually with Charlotte being her boss. But, with Louis it is different. She is familiar to him even before she
met him in company.
However, with Charlotte, it is still awkward with them being boss and an employee.
“And, when you saw me and Louis like that, I noticed that you were so composed. Did he already talked about me before? Hmm?” Charlotte asked.
Brina pursed her li-ps. He never told her that they were childhood friends and knew each other.
He never even brou-ght that topic!!
“Ahhh, let me guess. He didn’t, right?” Charlotte spoke again and Brina nodded her head.
“Actually when I saw you both like that, you remembered me and my brother. So, I feel it’s too early to judge you. And I guess, am right? No?” Brina said.
“Brina, actually I’m Louis’s fiancée” Charlotte said.
