EPISODE 23
He never saw his beloved this angry. She seemed so different.
“Brina, what happened” Chris asked her as soon as she came and stood in front of them.
However, Brina didn’t answer him but took the bouquet he is holding.
“Hmm….rosses. Most of the girls love them, don’t they?? Chris”, she asked.
“But I am allergic to roses. If I smell them, the pollen in the roses make me sneeze continuously. My nose becomes red and my eyes will water” she told.
“And it’s so sad that you don’t even know that. How many years have I worked with you…. Sorry, how many years have I worked for you? Two years??” Brin asked mockingly.
“Yet, you don’t know that. If you would have really loved me…. cared for me, you would have been aware of it” Brina said, this time looking into his eyes.
“Brina, I-” he is about to continue but he stuttered with his words, not knowing what to speak.
“What?? Come on, Chris speak out. You would have definitely got one or other excuse” Brina asked.
Seeing his blank and humiliated face, she couldn’t help laugh pitifully.
“But you don’t have an excuse for that, do you?? Now, how can you justify your love towards me, if you don’t even know such a basic thing about me, huh” she asked.
“Brina, you can’t judge this just by a small matter like this!!” he angrily said. He was never humiliated by any one like this, never.
“Small matter, Chris?? What if my allergy is fatal?? What if I die…. will you call it small!!” Brina asked angrily.
“Leave about this. Let’s think that you are too busy to notice such a ‘small’ things about the girl you love. You are a busy director of Cooper corps and yeah, what not” Brina said her voice deliberately softened.
The colour that has drained out of Chris’s face started to recompose back when he heard her words.
Yes, he is very busy man to give a fu-ck about these things. He is a director of a multinational company god dammit!! Not a free and ordinary employee like her!!
“Chris, given with the position you are in at such a young age, you should have really been a genius and matured man, am I right?” Brina asked and Chris nodded his head.
Of course, he had best studies across the world. His family is filthy rich!!
“But you lack common se-nse, don’t you?” Brina asked and Chris instantly frowned.
What is she really trying to imply here!!
“How can you say that, Brina!! If I lack common se-nse how will I be able to manage the biggest depa-rtment in a multinational company. How will I be able to get into top five eligible bachelors of country?” he asked, certainly proud of his accomplishments. What he doesn’t know is that, he is walking straight into her trap.
“Hmm…. So, what you are saying is, you intentionally made a move behind my back though you know how much I don’t like my family. You didn’t take this decision because of lack of your common se-nse that you should not meet a girl’s family without her approval, but you deliberately did this!!”
“You thought that my family will for-ce me into marrying me. It’s a win- win situation for you, that’s what you have thought, didn’t you??” Brina asked. Her voice an octave higher than before and fiercer.
Chris bit his tongue inside. He didn’t expect her to turn the tables like this…. Just with a fli-ck of her hands. She certainly knows how to twist one’s own words to her advantage, just like a diplomat.
“No, Brina I didn’t do this to hurt you. I…. I was-” he stopped again. This time his face marred with guilty.
He never though that he will get humiliated by some one like this, especially the girl he loves.
“Don’t try to come up with an excuse again, Chris!! Because you won’t find one” Brina said.
She took the velvet box from him an opened it. “A platinum ring with a rare green diamond engraved in middle…hmm…so expensive and so beautiful” she commented.
Chris let out a for-ced smile.
“But you know what Chris. It simply doesn’t matter how expensive the gift is. The only thing it matters is how much you love a girl and respect her choices. Whatever the gift might be, it will be priceless to a girl if and only if the love you pour in it is genuine and heart felt. Otherwise, it is worthless” Brina said.
“And you miserably failed in all these aspects, so, this gift is worthless to me.” Brina said and shoved it back into his hands.
She subconsciously tou-ched the chain Louis gave her other day and instantly a smile bloomed on her face. And, this didn’t go unnoticed by Chris.
“And about the car you brou-ght to show off how much you love me, you better keep it to yourself because whenever I see the things related to you, all I feel from now is nothing but hatred.”
“I used to admire you, respect you. I have always thought that you are my well-wisher, a good friend who would never hurt me”
“But, Chris, you proved me wrong. All I feel for you now is nothing but hatred” saying so Brina shoved away the blazer he used on the cruise to wrap her from lust-ful gazes. She gave away the pen recorder he gave her on her previous birthday.
“Good bye, Chris” she said and she is about to go away when he held her wrist. His eyes burning with guilt and regret, but also anger and humiliation.
“If you stop me now, my hatred will turn into disgust” Brina said and he instantly let her go.
…
At night….
Brina is slee-ping when a drunken Chris started Ban-ging her door.
After her encounter with Chris and her maternal family, Brina went to the orphanage as it is too near to her grandparents’ house compared to her house. Like always she spent almost half of her salary to buy toys and food items for kids. She even bought three pairs of new clothes for kids who will be celebr@ting their birthday.
This birthday isn’t the day they are born but, the day they succeeded in fighting their chronic diseases.
Brina almost spent her whole evening with kids and checking on the children who are in critical situation and has to go throu-gha major surgery.
When it is almost the sunset, Brina went to the training base where she trained with some of trainees in combat and martial arts. She exhausted herself to her saturation in order to control her temper which was triggered by Chris and her family.
Later, her uncle Tom dropped her at her house and by the time Brina came to her flat it is almost night.
She talked with Louis in the phone for ten minutes and then took a hot shower before going to sleep in her bathrobe itself.
And when she heard someone knocking her door, she let out a curse as she reluctantly opened the door.
Chris who is drunk to his ne-ck, for-cefully barged in and held her wrist ti-ghtly. He pulled her closer to him and Brina instantly wrinkled her nose in disgust.
He is reeking alcohol.
“Chris, you better go out, this instant!!” she warned him. She can easily knock him unconscious or kick him out of the door, but she simply doesn’t want to displa-y her physical strength. This would obviously reveal that she is trained in combat.
More importantly she is worried that Harry would probably kill Chris once he will get to know that he manhandled his little sister. Not that she cares about Chris here, but she doesn’t want unnecessary attention focussing on her.
“Brina, I am the right person to you and you will not find any one other person who might care for you as much as I do” he said, his words unclear due to excess drinking.
“Chris, don’t you dare to cross your boundaries. I am warning you now itself and don’t bla-” Brina stopped when they heard the third voice in the house.
“Baby, who is that” a sleepy voice came from Brina’s be-droom door.
Chris and Brina turned around and as soon as Chris saw who that person is, he gr-unted his teeth.
Meanwhile, Brina looked at the person in shock.
How did he come inside?? That too using her be-droom balcony door??
Standing in front of them is Louis who is shirtless and wearing a night pa-nt. His hair is dishevelled and he looked too sleepy as if he just walked out from his be-d.
‘This guy!! How could he be so handsome’ Brina thought as her eyes lingered on his perfectly contoured face and well worked abs.
Meanwhile, Chris looked at Brina and Louis.
He is wearing a pa-ntand nothing else while Brina is in her bathrobe. Beneath it, there might be nothing.
And what is he doing in Brina’s house that too at midnight??
Their attire is inappropriate too….as if, as if they just had se-x and sle-pt na-ked.
Chris felt his heart twist and churn.
He knew her from almost two years and Brina didn’t even allow him to touch her cheeks.
There was a situation once, Tanya met an accident. Brina was crying and he tried to comfort her but she didn’t even allowed him to wipe away the tears let alone comfort her.
But now….
Seeing them like this….
It is too obvious that they are in live in together relationship. And had been to very inti-mate phase of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Louis felt his blood boil when he saw Chris holding his girlfriend for-cefully. He felt like to strangle Chris to death or throw him to his pet sharks. They would enjoy human meat after many years.
But, Louis knew that he can’t do this to Chris. At least not now, but if this bastard cross the line once again Louis swore to see his end.
Louis took a one long stride and he is already standing infront of Brina and dazed Chris.
Brina se-nt him a flying ki-ss and Louis couldn’t do but roll his eyes as he chuckled. He could see that Brina isn’t scared.
And, he felt her se-nse of humour too hilarious.
But, he also un-derstood that Brina is se-nding him an indirect message not to take any extreme actions.
Right now, his face is red with anger and his aura is too dangerous and chilly. He is emanating dark aura akin to king of hell.
Even before Chris could come back to reality, Louis gently yanked away Chris’s hand from Brina’s wrist.
He is careful not to hurt Brina. And after Brina is free from Chris’s hold, Louis kicked Chris directly in his abdomen.
Louis is a trained fighter too. So, with the for-ce he used, Chris couldn’t stand a chance to that impulse.
He crumbled and fell down on the floor with Gr0-ning in pain.
“You fine, baby” Louis asked as he hu-gged her ti-ghtly.
Brina tip toed, burying her face in his crook and due to her height, he couldn’t help but hold her in his arms.
“You always come out of thin air, do you have super powers, Mr. Boyfriend” Brina whispered against his ne-ck.
Louis chuckled and care-ssed her hair. Their position is so inti-mate.
They are hu-gging each other too ti-ght and he is holding her in his arms to match their heights. One of his hand holding her wa-ist as he lifted her bo-dy against his.
She has her face buried in his ne-ck and he had his other hand holding her head.
Chris looked at them and he couldn’t stomach their intimacy. Seeing Brina act like a cute girlfriend made Chris boil in anger.
When Louis chuckled, care-ssing her hair, Chris could not do anything but wish very badly that it should have been him.
And, at the same time Ben Cooper, the former boss of Brina who is also the fiancé of Tanya hurried inside.
He is cousin of Chris and when the security at the residences called him and informed about Chris’s condition, Ben quickly reached.
And, when he saw Brina and Louis, he froze.
Isn’t…. isn’t he the new CEO of L & E corporations!!!
