Chapter 43 & 44.
The sun had just rised above the horizon. The water waves had subsided.
Xan crawled out of the water using his elbow. He stopped once and twirled to lay flat on the floor.
” Amy.” He mumbled his wife’s name like a weakling plant. He su-ck ed on his breath as his che-st rised and fall.
He covered his face with the back of his palm trying to get the sun away from his face.
He couldn’t explain what had just happened. It was as if everything happened really really fast for his brain to detect every pa-ssing minute.
All he could remember was that he was drowned into the de-eper blue sea.
He remembered covering Amy’s face on his che-st as he struggled to pull himself out, thereby suffocating all the pain to himself.
And then he met himself here, already out of the water still breathing and still surviving.
After a while, he sat up and stretched out his arm widely. His body was aching with a sort unbearable pain that could leave a human paralysed.
He looked down only to find his feet spurting out thick blood. He bit his lower li-p ha-rd and shook off his already w-et shirt out of his body before he tied it around the bleeding area.
He looked up, resetting his poor sight properly. He met a small figure laying on the covered sand close to him.
Her leg and head had stuck out of the sand.
” Amy!” He yelled as soon as he recognised her. Despite his poor leg state, he rushed towards where she was laying.
He knelt down and held up her head.
” Amy!. Sweetheart, can you hear me?” His eyes slowly bent. He picked up her hand and checked her pulse.
She was still beating, but slower than usual. Her breathing process had also retarted as well.
Her stomach had swelled, turning into a strong shiny ball, from gulping too much water all in one for-ce.
” Amy. Don’t worry. I’m going to save you okay. You have to stay strong for us.” He said.
He quickly laid her on her belly while pressing his palm her back gently. She hiccu-p, throwing up water from her li-ps.
Xan continued his routine continuously until she was no longer throwing up. After a while, He made her sit up.
She fell her head lazily and xan picked her chin to look into her closed eyes.
” Amy..” He cu-p-ped her cheeks dearly.
” Amy. I’m sorry that i tried to put your life in danger. I..i didn’t know what i was thinking. I’m going crazy right now. please forgive me and wake up…” He said.
She didn’t move. She remained stiff in his arms, looking like she was already dead.
After a while, her breathing finally stopped and her body started to turn cold and shivering.
Xan stared at her like he had seen the most horrific view of his life.
” Amy!..” He yelled, grabbing her shoulder firmly.
He was astonished. He pulled her up on his shoulder and picked out his phone to call the beach lifeguard.

XAN’S MANSION.
Mrs qin leaned on the wardrobe. She sighed and tamped her feet as if waiting for an endless course.
Soon, the door pulled open and mrs lewis causally stepped in, ru-b-bing her dry eyes.
” Why did you wake me up this early in the morning?” She asked, leaning herself to the wardrobe as she stared at mrs qin.
” Where’s the key to my wardrobe?” Mrs qin asked as she faced her.
Mrs lewis chuckled and met her gaze.
” Your wardrobe?. Or the one you claimed from me?” She asked.
” I want to dress up for today. Where’s the key!!” Mrs qin yelled.
” Chill, mrs queen. I told you already. This closet will be locked until i wish to open it. As far as this is my son’s house, i do what i want.” She said.
” Do you want trouble this morning?”
” I was searching for trouble, so yes, i want trouble.” Mrs lewis hissed.
” I give you thirty minute to open up this wardrobe before I’m back. If not…” Mrs qin gave one ha-rd stare at her and walked away.
Mrs lewis hissed and sneered at her as she walked out. As soon as the door closed up, she walked over to her pillow.
She had hid the key there without her notice. Opening it up, she was astonished not to have find it there any longer.
” Wait. The key was supposed to be here, right?” She asked herself. She remembered dropping it in her pillow last night, how come it suddenly disappeared.
She ran over to mrs qin bed and searched for it un-der her pillow as well but it wasn’t there either.
” But?. How come it’s not here.” She continued to rumble to herself, scratching her confused head.
She ran helter scatter, all over the room to search for it. She pulled up the bed cover, searched the sink, the table cabinet, inside the toilet hole…
Everywhere inside the room.
It was just no where in existence. At the end, she decided to break the lock with her heels before anyone would find out and blame her for being a careless human.
On getting to the wardrobe, she pulled the handle quickly and was suprised with how it got opened.
The wardrobe wasn’t locked, afterall. Someone tricked her.
She sat down on the bed, heating up as she blamed herself for being very stupid.
” So this woman pranked me and made me search all over the room for a key that was with her. When infact, the stupid thing was open!” She yelled and angrily threw her heels at the door.
She stumped out of the room and arrived at the kitchen where mrs qin was cooking.
” You, this woman!” Mrs lewis yelled. ” You had the key with you all along right”
” Good morning, mrs lewis. I don’t know what you are talking about” Mrs qin said and laughed humorously as she stepped out of the kitchen.
Mrs lewis frowned and crossed her arm over her che-st. Her gaze went over to the food she had just finished cooking.
She knew everyone would eat out of this breakfast this morning and so, a cunningly evil thought ran throu-ghher head.
She brou-ght out the salt container and the rest of the other ingredients, adding too much of everything till to her heart content.
” Phew. I’ll just pity her and not finish the whole content inside the food.” She said and laughed.
She dusted her arm and tasted the meal. Her face scowled up quickly, she coughed and drank some water.
Afterwards, she went over to the water jug and brou-ght down the paper spray.
” I’m not a wicked woman. I’m just giving justice to who it is needed of.”

The whole family began to step down the stairs in one accord.
They arrived at the dinning and everyone took a seat while they waited for the maid to plate down the sumptuous meal.
” I could inhale the sweet food right from the bedroom, mrs qin. You must be a really good cook.” Mrs lewis said.
” Sure, thank you.” Mrs qin smiled.
The maid came to drop breakfast on mrs lewis table but she stopped her.
” No, don’t worry. I don’t eat food prepared by her.” She said and mrs qin hissed.
Vixen picked his fork and hastily ate from his plate. He stopped only to realise something was different and strange about what he was eating.
He instantly stood up from his chair, palming his mouth as his eyes bulged out, turning red at the corner
” I’ll be right back.” He mumbled, running out of the kitchen.
” What’s wrong with him?” Mrs qin asked worriedly.
” I guess he’s having his usual morning disorders” Katrina rolled her eyes as she ate out of her spoon.
She quickly picked up her serviette wrapper and threw up everything she had eaten.
” What the hell was put into this food!” She yelled and picked up the jug of water to drink out of it, only to find her tongue burn like it was set on fire.
” Pepper!. Ahh…fuc-kkkkk!!” Katrina yelled as she jumped to her feet.
” How…How come?. How come all of this happened to my food!” Mrs qin said spitting back into her plate.
” Who are you trying to poison, mrs qin?. If you can’t cook why don’t you let the cooks do their job.” Katrina yelled.
” I’m sorry dear. I’m so clueless of what actually happened here. I tasted my food before i left and it wasn’t as bad as this” Mrs qin said.
” Reset your brain!. You added too much, just too much of everything!. God, I’m never eating anything from you again!” She yelled and stumped out of the kitchen.
Mrs qin took a sip out of the pepper water and she instantly held her che-st as she coughed.
” Mrs qin…Mrs qin. What are you doing to your inlaws?” Mrs lewis asked, standing up on her feet.
Mrs qin turned to glare at her.
” Mrs lewis. Are you behind this?”
” Behind what?.” Mrs lewis asked and laughed out like a mischievous witch before glaring at her.
” You are a woman, mrs queen. Just say you can’t cook and stop blaming people like me.”
” Mrs lewis. This is so unfair!. This is unfair, how can you make those kids think so negative of me!” Mrs qin yelled as she cleaned up her w-et eye lids.
” I tell you, i would have enough time to deal with you today. I still have six more days here, so it’s either you leave or i leave.” She said.
” I’m not leaving!. Even if the whole house is against me, I’ll still have my ground in this house!” She told her.
” Well then. We’ll see about that.” Mrs lewis snarled.
The door opened and Vixen tripped into the kitchen, pinning his eyes at his phone.
” Xan just called.” He said and turned to face them.
” He’s on his way home?” Mrs lewis asked.
” No. He said he’s in the hospital with Amy.”
” Did anything happen to Amy?” Mrs qin asked, coming forward. The next reply felt like it was taking him ten hours later to reply.
” I also asked him the same question. He said she’s fine now. But he needs everyone at the hospital.” He said.
” What are we waiting for. Let’s go quickly.” Mrs qin said and everyone rushed towards the door.

EVENING.★ XAN’S MANSION.
The environment inside the living room was cold and silent.
The candle chandeliers were the only thing that lit up the room at that time.
Vixen occu-pied a sofa along with mrs lewis and katrina sat next to mrs qin.
Xan sat in the longest sofa in the livingroom with Amy resting her head on his shoulder.
Everyone was silent until xan continued.
” The honeymoon went as planned. Everything was…very smooth, tho” Xan said deemly.
He stared at no one in particular as he for-ced the word out of his li-p. The candle light made an exposure on his face giving him that aesthetic effect.
Mrs qin grabbed another set of tissue as she rushed it down her nose.
” But…The baby is not going to survive.” Xan said as he instantly lowered his gaze to stare at his knuckles.
Everyone gasped and sat up as their gaze returned to Amy who was laying her head lifelessly on Xan’s shoulder.
She pouted her li-ps as well as her heart clenched ti-ght inside her che-st.
” After we left the..um.. camp. She was well and alright and we decided to visit the hospital to check on her health and to see if she was pregnant.” He said and paused.
Amy’s hand ti-ghtened on his che-st as she rested her forehead on his shoulder to sob more.
He looked down at her and pulled her closer before facing the rest of them.
” The doctor said she was pregnant but her wo-mb, not capable of holding a child, so…it’s either she has a miscarriage later on. Or we just terminate it ourselves.” He said and inhaled a very long sigh.
Mrs lewis turned to face everyone in confusion.
” Wait. Are you saying, Amy can’t give me a grandchild. She can’t have babies?” She asked.
Xan raised his gaze to meet her face.
” Yes, she can’t.” He simply muttered.
” What!. And you married her!” She yelled, standing to her feet.
” What the hell were you thinking, xan!. Do you think i can accept such excuse. She’s is more or less a barren.”
” Mom!” Vixen threw a warning gaze at her.
” What is mom!. I need to talk!” Mrs lewis yelled.
” How can i accept a daughter inlaw who can’t give me the happiness that every mother wishes for. Don’t you think I’m a human too.”
Katrina groa-ned and stood up with anger.
” Mrs lewis, you need to un-derstand the fact that Amy didn’t make herself, barren!”
” So?. Who?. Me?” Mrs lewis rattled.
” Just hear me out first!” She yelled back.
Mrs qin stood up and shaked her heads.
” I’m sorry everyone. I’m upstairs if anyone needs me.” She said and walked out. Katrina folded her hands and turned to mrs lewis.
” She had an ab-ortion and lost her wo-mb in the process. There isn’t any going back in this, okay?.” She said.
” Katrina. That doesn’t concern me. My major concern is that i won’t get a grandchild after this. It’s better ending this marriage now that there’s still time.”
” You can’t end a marriage that you never contributed to.” Katrina yelled.
” Please, katrina. You give me too much headache. Please let me talk!” She said and turned to glare at Amy.
” And you…” She said.
Amy raised her head staring at her with all the innocence of the world. Her eyes sparkling like their were diamonds tears ready to fall out of them.
” I thought i made myself clear, last time. As far as I breath and exist, you are NOT my son’s wife. You are not!. Do you know what you are, you are childless and barren!. That’s what you are!.”
” Mrs lewis!” Katrina yelled, boiling red on her face.
” Yes, i know i am.” Amy said making everyone stare at her.
” I don’t deserve to have a happy life. I don’t deserve any good thing. I’m childless, I’m cursed! That me.” She said and curled her li-ps into her mouth as tears streamed down her eyes.
She stood up.
” I’m sorry but, i don’t even feel like I’m part of this family anymore. Goodnight everybody.” She said with a ti-ght heart as she ran out.
” I’m outta here because I’m speechless.” Vixen said, standing to his feet before walking away.
Mrs lewis hissed and turned to xan, she realised he had been piercing his gaze at her dangerously.
She could almost feel his shadow crawl into her and stung her heart with a black dagger.
She cleared her throat and stung back a stare at him too.
” Xan. One more time, where-his- your -dad?!” She asked and stumped out of the room angrily.
Katrina sighed and went to sit next to xan. She held his arm.
” I’m sorry about everything, xan. It’s just too much to handle.” She said and rested her head on his shoulder.
Xan palmed his eyes and didn’t realise when tears began to stream out of them.
…
VIXEN BEDROOM.
Katrina rolled her hair behind her as she stepped to sit next to vixen. She sat down and rested her head on his che-st.
” I feel like crying, vix.” She said sniffing her nose.
” Why?” Vixen said, ru-b-bing her hair.
” When i thought everything was going well for Amy and xan, it was only turning worse.”
” That just life for you, Kate. Trust me, they are going to have an happy ending. I’m sure they could figure out something else.”
” Like adopting a baby?”
” Yeah.”
” No. I want Amy to have her own baby. I’ve always wanted them to be a big family. I hope her baby does not get a miscarriage as the doctor said” She said and hug-ged him ti-ght.
” You feel sick.” Vixen said palming her forehead.
” Yeah, it’s been happening to me for the past few days now. Nausea, tiredness, running out of temperature and the likes”
” Are you sure you okay?”
” Yes, I’m fine.” She laughed and kis-sed his cheek.
Vixen raised his brows in suspicion. Nausea, tiredness, temperature….
Something tells him to run.
