The rich girlfriend episode 6 & 7

The rich girlfriend*

*_Chapter 6_*

“You! I remember you! What are you doing here?”

“Mm. Looks like someone has forgotten my name”, he said, smiling. “And it seems you have an amnesia too because I’m sure whoever informed you that I was here also included that I’m a lawyer”.

“Okay Mr smart p@n-ts. Did my dad s£nd you here?” She said, taking her seat across him.

“Miss not too smart herself. Of course he s£nt me”.

“Is this how you’re going to address your client ?” She asked.

“You’re not my client yet. Till you sign this”, he said, handing over the do¢v-ment to her.

“I can’t sign anything till I take my time to re-ad every freaking thing on this paper”.

“Okay, you’re smart after all “.

“If you keep up with that attitude, I’m going to fire you this minute”.

“The same way you fired two of your workers? And I’m not working for you yet till you sign that do¢v-ment”.

“Okay. Then I’m sure you won’t mind if I take my time to re-ad this”.

“Take all the time you nee-d”, he said to her.

“Okay”, she said, re-ading the papers.

As she re-ad the papers, he just kept staring at her till she caught him.

“If you keep staring at me that way. I’m going to sue for S-xual haras-sment”, she said and he chuckled.

“And I’ll tell the judge that it’s not my fault that my new client was so gorgeous”, he said, sm-irking.

“You hitting on me again? This is double S-xual haras-sment”, she said to him.

“There’s nothing wrong with appreciating God’s creation and giving compliments”.

“I see. If you don’t mind, I’ll like to get back to re-ading this”, she said and she re-ad it till she was done.

“I’m done and everything looks okay”, she said, signing it and giving it back to him.

“I’ve got my own rules though”, she said to him.

“Hit me with”.

“St©p trying to hit on me. Or I’m going to fire you”.

“It depends on what you term as ‘hit on’”.

“You know what. Let’s just get done with this”, she said.

“Okay, so tell me everything that happened”, he said to her and the actual meeting began.

*******

At night , the weather was so bad due to the heavy rain pour which also caused a hvge storm. Usually, when it happens like this, Sasha, her mum and her siblings spend their time in the main hall by the fireside, telling themselves how their previous days had been. It was a family tradition for them though they all hated it especially when their parents got a divorce.

“Mum, do we really nee-d to do this?” Sally said to her mum, gro-an ing.

“Yes, now sit. Where’s Sasha?”

“She’s not home yet” She’s coming.

“Okay. Then let’s wait for her”.

They waited for a while till Sasha arrived.

“So now that we’re all here, let’s start with Sally”.

“Mum! Just start with Sammy, she’s the one who enjoys this”.

“No, you start, as mum said”, Samantha said, scowling.

“What’s with the face. You know what fine. I’m still d@t!ngmy b©yfri£ndwhich has lasted for 2 months now. Unlike some people”, she said and Sasha ignored her.

“And clas-ses are going well, it’s just that the lecturers and some of the students get on my nerves. I can’t wait to be done with school. And dad promised to get me a new car on our birthday and I intend to also buy a house for myself and finally leave you all here and…”

“A house?” Sasha asked.

“Yeah. Unlike you, I want to live alone and have my peace”.

“You are the one who’s been obstructing our peace”, Samantha said to her.

“Oh plea-se”.

“That’s enough. You’re not moving out of here till you’re done with the school”, Ann exclaimed.

“Why? A lot of my friends live alone”.

“You are not them. And you can’t live alone. What do you know about owning a house? Have you ever paid a bill before?”

“Mum, how will any of us find out if I don’t do it and see how it goes”.

“You think it’s easy. Fine, from today, you’ll start paying any bill concerning you and your room and every other thing you use in the house. You’ll also do your own laundry, cook your own food, clean your place and take care of everything concerning you. If you can do all that? Then I’ll let you get your own place”.

“Mum, that’s cruel. No one does their laundry or any chore in this house. I don’t even know how to cook and if I get my own place, I’ll have someone to do all that”.

“I’ve said my piece. If you want to be able to buy your own place. Then you do that”.

“Fine! For how long?”

“A month”.

“Okay. That’s easy”.

“Alright. We shall see. Sasha tell us yours”.

“Just work, hanging out with friends and finding out the my b©yfri£ndhas a baby and a baby mama”.

“Ouch”, Sally said to her.

“As I was saying before a be-d bug tried to interrupt. So yeah, we broke up and I’m fine. I’ll also be having a work dinner this weekend. You’re all invited. And yeah, I fired two of my workers and they decided to sue me and I asked dad for one of his lawyers and he s£nt his new older girlfriend’s son”.

“A new older girlfriend?” They all asked in unison.

“Oops. I thought he had told you all by now”.

“No, he hasn’t”, Samantha said.

“Did you say she was older?” Sally asked.

“Yeah. Just like mum”.

“Hey. I’m not old. I’m still young”, she said, smiling and they all laughed.

“Yeah of course. No woman has got anything on you mum”, Sasha said to her mum.

“Thank you”, she said, smiling. “So it seems like he’s serious with her?” Ann asked.

“That’s what he said but I can’t tell”.

“Okay”.

“Mum, I hope you’re fine”, Samantha asked, placing her head on her.

“Yeah. I am”, she said, wra-pping her arms around her.

“Okay, let’s continue”, she said and they continued their conversation.

******

Sasha arrived at work the following morning. She was quite late and when she got to the conference room, Lilian and Ross were having a good laugh.

“Mmmm”, she said, clearing her throat.

“Oh she’s here”, Lilian said, smiling.

“What’s he saying that’s ma-king you laugh so loud?” She asked.

“Oh, he was just telling me about a few things in the world of law”.

“Isn’t that supposed to be boring”? Sasha asked.

“It’s not. I’ll leave you two to have your meeting”, she said to her and was about to leave when Ross interrupted her.

“Hey Lilian What do you say to us continuing this conversation over dinner tonight?” He asked her.

“That’s not possible. We’re having a girl’s night tonight”,Sasha said to him.

“Are we?” Lilian asked.

“Yes. Have you forgotten?”

“If there’s one, I’ll skip. You don’t mind me skipping right?” Lilian asked and Sasha walked closer to her and whispered in her ear.

“He’s married and he’s got lots of kids”, she said to Lilian and she frowned on hearing that.

“I will rather have my girl’s night”, she said and she stormed out of the conference room.

“What did you say to her?”

“Can we just focus on our meeting?” She asked and he nodded.

_Chapter 7_*

Sasha and Ross had an extremely long meeting due to their arguments till they finally c@m£ to a conclusion.

“When I pres£nt this to them, they’ll accept it. Trust me”.

“Great. Because I don’t want this to go to court”.

“It won’t”, he said, smiling.

“So what exactly did you say to Lilian to get her to back off?!”

“That’s none of your business”, she said to him.

“No problem. I’ll take my leave now and the next time we’ll meet I will give you the goodnews”, he said, wi-nking and he left.

She sat there for a moment, processing everything till she got interrupted by Ralph.

“So how’s it going. Are you settling them or we’re going to court”, he asked.

“If he’s as good as he thinks, I’m sure we’ll settle them”, she said, smiling.

“Are you okay?” He asked her, sitting beside her.

“Yeah, it’s just that this whole suit reminded me of when Phil!pwas alive”, she said, pla-ying with her f!ngers.

“Yeah. I remember that time too. You were bent on going to court and he tried to talk you out of it and you didn’t listen. You went to court and you lost”, he said, laughing.

“Yeah. I always hated how he was always right about everything”, she said, chuckling.

“Yeah. Me too”.

“You know sometimes I forget that he was also your bestfriend and I make it seem like I was the only one who lost him. I’m sorry for that”, she said, placing her hands on his hand.

“It’s fine Sasha. You were his everything so it makes s-en-se for you to mourn more”, he said to her and she smiled. “That reminds me, I’m planning to visit his grave today. Do you want to tag along?”

“No!” She said, looking away.

“Is something wrong?”

“Ever since he was buried, I’ve not… uhh.. I..”

“You’ve not been there”.

“Yeah. I can’t go”, she said, tearing up and he pu-ll-ed her close to him with his hand wra-pped around her.

“I get it. I couldn’t also bring myself to visit him too but there are times when I just want to talk to someone and there’s no one to talk to, so I end up going there and I talk to him. I know he can’t hear but sometimes it feels good to talk”.

“I know but I don’t think I’m re-ady to go”.

“Alright, no rush”.

“How’s your girlfriend doing?”

“She’s fine. She’s been asking of you though. You know we used to go on double d@t£s and all but since…”

two

“Yeah. Since he died, I’ve not gone out with you two. I’m really sorry for that. I’ll make it up to you too”, Sasha said, smiling.

“Alright. I’ll get back to work now”, he said, getting up and he left.

*****

Ralph and the girls were hanging out at Sasha’s place. They ordered for pizza and drinks and as usual they were all focused on their phones.

“Oh my God. Ross just followed me on Instagram”, Lilian said in excitement.

“Ross? As in Sasha’s Ross?” Rachel asked.

“He’s not Sasha’s Ross. He’s just her lawyer”, Lilian said to her.

“A lawyer who has been hitting on me”. Sasha said to her and Lilian ignored her as she was focused on her phone, scrolling throu-gh his Instagram page.

“Wait. Didn’t you say that he was married?” Alicia asked Lilian.

“Yeah. Sasha said he was but I don’t see anything like that on his page”, she said, frowning.

“Maybe he wants to keep it pri-vate”, Rachel said, shrugging.

“Wait if he’s married, why is he hitting on the two of you”, Alicia asked.

“He sounds like an a—–e to me”, Ralph said to them.

“He just s£nt me dm”, Lilian said.

“He’s married Lilian. Back off”, Rachel said to her.

“It’s just a dm”, Lilian said, shrugging.

“Sasha you seem quiet”, Alicia said to her.

“Because I have nothing to say”, she said, rolling her eyes.

“Do you also like Ross?!” Alicia asked.

“No. I don’t like married men!”

“He’s not married you liar!” Lilian said to her.

“What did you just say to me?” Sasha asked.

“That you lied. I just attacked him for being married and asking me out and he said he’s not married”, Lilian said.

“He could be lying”, Rachel said to her.

“Is he lying Sasha?” Lilian asked.

“I don’t know”, she said, looking away.

“So you lied. Why did you lie?”

“I was protecting you”.

“From what?”

“He’s using you to get to me. He started hitting on me right from the first day we met at my dad’s house”.

“At your dad’s house?” Lilian asked.

“Yeah. His mum and my dad are d@t!ngand even with that, he still indirectly asked me out. And since he bec@m£ my lawyer, he’s been trying to flir-t with me. So Lilian I just said that to protect you! You’re welcome!!”

“Hmmm. Thank you”, Lilian said in a sad tone.

“Don’t worry Lilian. Your prince will soon come and sweep you off you feet. Forget Ross”, Alicia said to her.

“He just asked me out again, what do I do?”

“Ask him if he likes Sasha? And let’s see what he says?” Rachel suggested.

“Mmm. Okay”, she said and she asked him.

“What did he say?” Alicia asked.

“He’s not replied yet”.

“I smell something fishy” Alicia said, tapping her nose.

“He just replied”.

“What did he say?”

“He did but his interest is somewhere else now”.

“Mmm. Ralph what do you have to say about this?”

“Mmm. For him to admit that he did. I think he’s being honest”.

“So what do I do?” Lilian asked.

“It depends on you. I can’t tell you what to do”.

As they were conversing. Sasha got up and walked away.

“Where are you going to?” Rachel asked.

“To be-d”.

“You could have just said something”.

“I didn’t want to interfere with Lilian’s call for attention”, she said and she left.

“Ughhh. She gets on my nerves so much!!! Don’t mind her Lilian”, Alicia said to her and they continued their conversation.

******

“Is anyone home?” Sasha’s dad exclaimed as he walked into the hallway.

“Frederick?” Ann said in surprise.

“What are you doing here?” She asked.

“I c@m£ to see you”, he said to her, forcing a smile.

“Okay. What is it?” She asked.

“Can we go to the living room to talk?” He asked her.

“Sure”, she said, leading the way.

“Mmm, the house hasn’t changed much since I left”, he said, looking around.

“It hasn’t”, she said, forcing a smile.

They got to the living room and sat across each other.

“So what is it?”

“It’s about the new woman I’m seeing”.

“Mmhmmm? What about her?”

“We’re planning to take things further”.

“Okay. Good for you”, she said to him.

“When I say further, you know what I mean right?”

“Marriage? Oh, I’ve heard it all before”.

“This time is different”.

“Okay. If it’s my blessings you want. You have it”.

“You’re not going to st©p me? If I get married to her there’s no going back”, he said to her.

“Why will I st©p you? It’s been 6 years Fred, I don’t care who you end up with or what you do with your life”.

“Hmm, you’ve still not forgiven me?”

“Oh plea-se don’t think so high of yourself. I have forgiven and forgotten”.

“Hmm. So why aren’t we cool?”

“We are cool or what exactly do you mean by cool?”

“You don’t check on me or visit me or anything?”

“It’s called moving on Fredrick and you’ve moved on quite a lot with all the women you’ve been with”.

“You know it’s you I still want”.

“I don’t think your wife to be would be cool with you saying this to another woman”.

“Ann, what’s st©pping us from getting back?”

“Number 1, I don’t want you anymore”.

“Alright if you say so. I’ll be s£nding in the invitation letter when it’s re-ady”.

“Great. I’ll be expecting it”, she said, smiling.

“I’ll take my leave now. Bye Ann”.

“Bye Fred”, she said and he left.

******

Sasha was in her office when she was informed that Ross was at the conference room.

When she go to the conference room, she saw him and Lilian conversing.

“Lilian. This is a work place not a place for you to entertain yourself”, she said to her.

“I was just keeping him busy”, Lilian said.

“Okay. Thank you. I got it from here now”, she said.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Ross at our work dinner”, Lilian said and she left

“You know as my lawyer. You can’t be d@t!ngany of my employees”, she said to him.

“Fine. The settlement has been done and I’ve fulfilled what you wanted and now I quit”.
