Meira continued to have nightmares over the next few weeks which disturbe-d her sleep and because she could not sleep, she bec@m£ terribly disturbe-d. At some point, she could ha-rd ly eat anything nor could she drag herself out of be-d. Her cousin Sasha who had come to spend some time with her after their grandmother’s death managed to notice Meira’s nightmares.
One night, Sasha shook Meira awake after noticing she was struggling and fighting against something in her dream. When Meira opened her eyes, she instantly started crying and Sasha could see the terror in her cousin’s eyes. She held her in her arms and tried to console her. Sasha knew her cousin nee-ded help before she completely lost it.
‘’What’s happening Meira,’’ Sasha enquired when her cousin was composed and calm.
‘’Before my grandmother died, she gave me some medicine,’’ Meira began.
‘’What kind of medicine?’’
Meira hesitated before she said, ‘’Medicine that I could use to make Lee mine, she gave me something to smoke and drink.’’
‘’Meira?’’ She gave her a quizzical look.
‘’I know I shouldn’t have done that but I was desperate and I wanted to get back at Kristian for taking Lee from me.’’
‘’Did the concoction you made work?’’
‘’Granny died that same night and Lee was involved in an accident.’’
‘’And you have been having these nightmares since then?’’
‘’Yes.’’
‘’I think you should go and apologize to Lee.’’
‘’How can I apologize to him, he will hate me, he will get me arrested.’’
‘’Only the truth shall set you free, you can’t continue to live like this, see how much weight you have lost.’’
‘’I can’t visit Lee, I can’t see Kristian.’’
‘’Why? Do you enjoy these sleepless nights?’’
‘’Granny said, I will get mad if I come into contact with Kristian before the concoction works.’’
‘’You still want to try this out?’’
‘’I still want Lee to be mine.’’
‘’You can’t be serious Sasha.’’
‘’I still love him.’’
‘’Forget about this love, that man doesn’t love you the best you can do for yourself is make peace with Lee and start your life afresh, granny is dead, I don’t think you will go mad if you see Kristian.’’
‘’I am not doing that Sasha, I am not.’’
‘’Well then, suit yourself,’’ Meira stood up.

‘’Babe! You know I love you, you know I love our child?’’ Lee said. Kristian was lying her head on his l@p while he was stro-king her hair. He had been discharged from the hospital and with the help of Robert and his church mates, he was getting back on track. The confusion on his mind was gone, he now had eyes only for his wife and he wanted to show her daily what she meant to him.
‘’There was a point in time when I felt you didn’t love me.’’
‘’I can never st©p loving you Kristian, I don’t even know what was happening to me.’’
‘’Well, I am glad things are getting back to normal.’’
‘’Forgive me babe, plea-se.’’
‘’I hold no grudges.’’
‘’I will spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you for the pain I caused you the last couple of months.’’
‘’You are forgiven Lee, don’t beat yourself about this, the pastor explained this wasn’t your fault, it was spiritual.’’
‘’I love you, I love you so much. I love Caleb and our unborn baby too,’’ he ru-bbe-d his hand on her belly.
‘’We love you too and you know what?’’
‘’What?’’
‘’I am glad that accident happened.’’
‘’You wanted me to die?’’
She laughed, ‘’No but that accident was a blessing in disguise, I am glad to have my husband back.
‘’We should go for a vacation when you give birth, bills on me.’’
‘’Definitely.’’
‘’I love you.’’
‘’I love you too.’’
We continue talking until a knock sounds at the door.
‘’Come in!’’ we say in unison.
The door creaks open and a tall dark woman walks in.
‘’Good afternoon,’’ she says.
‘’Good afternoon, how may we help you?’’ Lee asked
‘’My name is Sasha, I am Meira’s cousin.’’
‘’Meira? What do you want here?’’
‘’I just nee-d a few minutes of your time.’’
‘’You can take a seat.’’
‘’Thank you,’’ she responded, sitting down.
‘’You are welcome.’’
‘’My cousin has been unwell, she has been having nightmares and seeing things.’’
‘’Okay.’’
‘’Meira confessed something to me, something that you nee-d to know. She doesn’t even know I am here right now but I had to do this not only for you guys but for her so I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive her-.’’
‘’What did she do?’’
‘’She was using charms to bring confusion in your marriage.’’
‘’What?’’
‘’Well, she told me she visited our late grandmother..,’’ Sasha began narrating, she explained everything to them and they listened attentively, surprised that someone could be this evil.
‘’Your cousin should be arrested,’’ Lee angrily said.
‘’What Meira nee-ds is your forgiveness, she is going insane.’’
‘’Your cousin is witch, does she know the havoc she caused for me and my wife?’’
‘’I can’t believe Meira would go that far,’’ Kristian said.
‘’plea-se forgive her,’’ Sasha pleaded.
‘’I think you should leave.’’
‘’I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive her someday,’’ she said standing up.
‘’Just leave alre-ady.’’
‘’Thank you for your time,’’ she said and with that she was gone.

Months later,

‘’Push! Push! You can do this Kristian, you can do it,’’ the doctor urges me on.
I push again but it is not good enough. This is ha-rder than I thought it would be, I have been in labour for hours now. Everything about this pregnancy is different, I didn’t take this long when I was giving birth to Caleb. I am so tired alre-ady.
‘’God plea-se help me,’’ I mumble.
‘’Babe, push ha-rder this time around and let’s bring this little princess into the world,’’ Jada says, holding my hand.
I scream and writhe in pain, pushing with everything in me but the baby still doesn’t come out.
‘’Breathe in and out de-eply! Breathe! Push! Breathe! Push!’’ says the doctor.
I clasp Jada’s hand ti-ght as another pain, stronger roils throu-gh me.
‘’You are doing well, keep pushing my love, we are almost there,’’ the doctor encourages.
‘’On a count of three, take another de-ep breath and use everything in you to push.’’
‘’One, two and three, go…,’’ I take a de-ep breath and push with the last remnant of my energy and out slid my child. Drained I coll@pse onto the be-d, g@sping for air and mumbling, ‘’thank you Jesus! Thank you.’’
‘’A girl, it’s a girl!’’ Jada whispers. ‘’I am so proud of you, you did it.’’
I am about to ask why she is not crying when she lets out a lvsty wail and I smile.
When they place the baby in my arms, it feels like heaven, I k!ssher tiny face and f!ngers. And suddenly the sickness and pain I went throu-gh and endured the last couple of months is worth it, I would go throu-gh it again for my child.
After that I am cleaned up and all evidence of a recent birth disappears.
I am lying on the hospital be-d with Nasia Grace in my arms when Lee walks in, he has a banquet of flowers in one hand and a white teddy bear in another, his face beaming with excitement, I know he has waited for this for a long time.
‘’Are you alright?’’ he whispers.
‘’Of course I am, I am hungry though.’’
‘’Jada has gone to get some food for you.’’
He stares at the baby, ‘’can I hold her?’’
‘’Yes you can babe.’’
He carries the baby and holds her close to him,’’ she is beautiful Just like you.’’
‘’I know right, I can’t believe she is finally here.’’
‘’You have made me the happiest man on earth Kristian.’’
‘’Thank you for ma-king me a mother for the second time.’’
‘’Do you think you can do this again?’’
‘’Do what?’’ I shoot him a quizzical look.
‘’Baby number three? Twins perhaps?’’
‘’Dude plea-se, I haven’t even left the hospital and you are talking about having another child.’’
He laughs, ‘’we make cute babies together.’’
‘’I know but the struggle to bring the out, just leave me alone Lee.’’
He laughs, ‘’I love you.’’
‘’I love you too.’’
The baby chooses that moment to start crying.
‘’Our baby,’’ he corrects and I roll my eyes, ‘’I carried her alone you know.’’
‘’But you know you wouldn’t have carried her if–.’’
‘’Mr. Mumbi, give me my child,’’ I cut him off mid-s£ntence.
He puts the baby in my arms, I bring herl-ips to my n!ppl!, my n!pplecan ba-rely fit into her mouth but after a few tries, she gets the trick and su-cks on. I stare at her as she su-cks, thanking God for blessing me with such a perfect little gift.

‘’Can I hold my sister in my arms?’’ Caleb asks.
The baby and I are finally home, I just finished bathing and now I want to take a nap because I still feel very tired.
Giving birth is no child’s pl@ybut it’s totally worth it, everyone is in love with Nasia and I don’t even want to leave her sight.
‘’You can’t hold her Caleb, she is still very young, you might drop her.’’
‘’I won’t drop her I promise.’’
‘’The baby is slee-ping, you will hold her when she is awake.’’
‘’Okay, can I sleep with you and the baby? plea-se mummy, I will be quiet.’’
‘’Of course you can sleep with us baby, you can sleep on the other side and I will be in the middle.’’
He smiles, ‘’I love you mummy.’’
‘’I love you too Caleb, you will always be my baby boy,’’ I k!sshis forehead before lifting him up and placing him on the other side of the be-d. I am sure Caleb feels threatened, he thinks I will not love him now that we have another child in the house.
How do I even explain to this child of mine that I love him and Nasia the same? That they are both a product of this great love that Lee and I share. And speaking of Lee, he was quite loving and supportive in the last months of the pregnancy. There’s nothing that I wanted that he didn’t provide. He was there at each step, showering me with love, I am glad Robert has been helping to be a better man.
My babies and I finally fall asleep, we sleep for some time before mum walks into the room and wakes me up.
‘’I have prepared something for you to eat and your father is here to see you.’’
‘’Mr. Msizi?’’
‘’Yes.’’
‘’What does he want?’’
‘’He is your father Kristian, he just wants to see his grandchild.’’
I sigh, ‘’Bring the food for me here and let him come in, who is with first?’’
‘’Alone.’’
‘’Okay.’’
‘’Be nice to him, he is going throu-gh a lot alre-ady.’’
‘’Fine.’’
When she leaves, I sit upright and cover myself. Mr. Msizi walks into the room a few minutes later, he has several plastics in his hands which obviously contains baby stuff and some food. Placing the plastics on the table, he sits on the stool.
‘’Hey,’’ I Say.
‘’Hey, how are you?’’
‘’I am fine, you?’’
‘’I am fine, congratulations on the baby. What’s her name?’’
‘’Nasia Grace.’’
‘’Miracle of God! I love that name.’’
‘’Thank you.’’
Mum walks in at that same time and places the food on the table next to the be-d.
‘’ Thank you mummy.’’
‘’Always welcome princess, I will be in the kitchen if you nee-d me,’’ she says before walking out.
‘’I am starving, let’s eat,’’ I say, washing my hands so I can start cooking.
‘’I am okay thank you.’’
‘’Okay.’’
‘’I am sure you heard that they revoked our license.’’
‘’I heard, it’s really sad that it got to that point, I loved Msizi Daily Mail, It was my first child.’’
‘’I know you did and honestly I regret ma-king Kenzie the Editor in Chief.’’
‘’Well, you did what you thought was right.’’
‘’I am sorry Kristian, I am really sorry for messing up your life. I shouldn’t have left your mother and I shouldn’t have neglected you when you nee-ded me the most, plea-se my child find it in your heart to forgive me,’’ He says. He sounds sincere.
‘’I forgive you, I forgive you not for me but for the sake of my children. I would love them to have a relationsh!pwith you. I don’t want them growing up with so many questions. I forgive you because I am done holding on to this bitterness. I forgive you because I want to start afresh.’’
‘’Thank you so much child, thank you,’’ tears run down his face.
When I finish eating, he asks if he can hold the baby and I allow him. You should see the look on his face, he looks genuinely happy, I don’t know if I ever saw him this happy my entire life. I never thought I would get to a point when I would eventually forgive this man and consider him my father, it hasn’t been an easy road but with God all things are possible.
He has been working on my heart for the last couple of months and I must say so far so good.
