Evan’s POV

“Preg… pregnant?” I stuttered, taking the box
of tissues on my desk and attempting to clean
myself up.
“Yes.”
“How? We’ve been very careful. You told me
you were on the pill, and I still used protec-tion
with you most of the time.”
“I know that Evan. But accidents do happen.”
Lord, give me strength.
“You’re mad, aren’t you?” She looked like she
was about to tear up.
“No. I just wasn’t expecting this. Have you
taken a pregnancy test? Have you been to the
doctor?”
“No and no. I’ve just been throwing up a lot
this morning and not feeling like myself.”
“Okay. Lets go.” I took my jacket off the back
of the chair, took my car keys and guided her
out the office.
I decided to bring her to Dr. Matador. He was
an excellent OBGYN and didn’t leak any
information to the press for a quic-k buck. My
parents trusted him and so did I.
“Hello, Mr. Hollen. What can I do for you
today?” he asked as I c@mยฃ throu-gh the door.
He was talking to the nurse, and I was sure he
was flir-ting with her too.
Not my business.
“This is my girlfriend, and she thinks she might
be pregnant. We nee-d to make sure of that,” I
explained.
“Certainly,” he replied and ushered us into a
pri-vate room.
“Now Miss Goode, this is call an Advance
Ultrasound Demo– A.U.D, for short. Even if
you’re one day pregnant, we’ll be able to see
the baby on the monitor,.” He instructed her to
l@ydown and lift her shi-t up.
My head was spinning and my br@in was
bouncing off its walls. Truth be told, I didn’t
want her to be pregnant as well. I couldn’t
handle having two kids with different women at
such a young age in my life. Mom would kill
me, and Dad would be ashamed and
disappointed in his eldest son. EJ wouldn’t do
something so dumb, and he was the youngest.
I raked my f!ngersthrou-gh my hair and prayed
for her to not be pregnant.
A picture c@mยฃ up on the monitor across the
room and my heart started racing.
“Hmm. Yeah,” the doctor said.
“Yeah what?” I asked.
“Miss Goode, I’m sorry, but you’re not
pregnant. There isn’t the smallest sign of a
baby in your uterus.” He wiped the gel off her
stomach.
“Oh thank God,” I said to myself, but I said that
a bit too loud.
She heard me and tears c@mยฃ into her eyes.
“I’ll give you two a moment,” the doctor said
and excused himself from the room.
“Maybe you ate something that upset your
stomach,” I said.
She wiped away the tears and stood up. “Can
we just go?”
Without waiting or looking back at me, she left
the room.
I followed behind her at a distance.
Thank you, Jesus.
“You’re happy, aren’t you?” she asked while we
were in the car heading back home.
“Why you say that?”
“Because you seemed so relieved when you
heard that there was no baby, like it had been
a weight on your che-st since I told you that I
might be pregnant. I’m sure you weren’t mad
when you found out Jasmine was pregnant.”
Here we go again!
“Is that what this is about? You trying to get
pregnant because Jasmine is pregnant? Is your
as-s even on the pill, or have you been lying to
me about that?”
“Of course I’m on the pills, but I could of
forgotten to–”
I didn’t let her finish. “Don’t even try that
bull$h!t, Aria! Don’t you dare try to tra-p me into
getting you pregnant! You knew, definitely, that
you weren’t taking the pills; that’s why you
didn’t even bother to get a pregnancy test!”
“Evan–”
“Don’t ‘Evan’ me. Just don’t! You’ve crossed the
line by doing something so dumb. How am I
supposed to be comfortable having S-x with
you again?”
I was furious and I took my rage out on the
accelerator. It usually took half an hour to get
from the OBGYN to the mansion, but I arrived
in fifteen– half the time.
Mom was over. She was sitting with Jasmine
and Zenia in the living room, looking throu-gh a
magazine while they talked and laughed.
“Hi baby,” Mom said and c@mยฃ over and
hvgged me.
I gave a weak hvg in response and went
upstairs without another word.
Aria followed behind.
____________

Jasmine’s POV

Emma was absolutely the best– my second
mom. She, Zenia and I were spending the
afternoon together, thinking about baby names
and wondering what he was going to look like.
“He’ll have Evan’s eyes. My gosh, he’ll be a
heart breaker if he takes his father’s eyes,”
Emma joked.
“He’ll have Jasmine’s crazy hair,” Zenia said as
she pet the hair on my head.
We heard the door opened and shut, and Evan
and Aria strolled in. He had a frown on his
face and his eyes were dark as the night.
Are they fighting? I asked myself.
Emma got up and greeted him, as always, but
he returned a poor hvg to her and dep@rted
without another word. Aria followed him and,
by the way she was walking after him, she
seemed uncomfortable .
“What’s wrong with him?” I asked Emma. She
always had all the answers.
“He’s upset. They must’ve had a fight.”
“About what?”
She didn’t have the answer to that one.
“I have no idea.”
“Trouble in paradise,” Zenia said, and we
continued fli-pping throu-gh the magazines until
we heard yelling upstairs and something
smashing.
“Stay here,” Emma said and made a beeline for
the stairs. “Evan! Evan!” Her voice echoed
throu-ghout the house as she climbe-d the
staircase fas-ter and fas-ter.
I stood up and went to the bo-ttomof the
staircase with Zenia behind me.
“What’s going on up there?” she asked,
curiosity burning in her eyes.
“Lets not invade their space. Aria must be
acting crazy again.”
“You think these things don’t cost money? It’s
worth more than one of your concerts!” Evan
yelled.
“Oh, break up with her. plea-se break up with
her,” Zenia said to no one and jumped up and
down like a child behind me.
I laughed. Oh, how I would love it if he broke
up with her.
The yelling stยฉpped.
Emma must have put an end to it when she
went into the room.
Zenia and I went back to the living room and
watched television.
After another fifteen minutes, Aria ran pas-s us,
crying bitterly.

*Four Months Later*

Jasmine’s POV

I was definitely round like a ball. My C cu-p
bec@mยฃ a DD cu-p and my bu-tt got hvge. The
baby’s birthday was approaching so I had been
preparing for his arrival.
Evan and I went to parenthood clas-ses and
exercise clas-ses together. They taught us how
to be excellent co parents so it doesn’t have a
negative impact on the child.
Evan was engaged Aria and set a wedding
d@tยฃ for after the birth of the baby. He said he
wanted his son to be ap@rt of the wedding.
I’d learned to accept his engagement and
decided to move on with my life once the
baby arrived. Evan promised to get a place for
us and put money into an account for me until
I could get back on my feet and find myself
another job. I was grateful for him, though I
may not have had him to myself. He was a
very wonderful man; he was amazing and had
a heart, even after I broke it.
It was my fault for him not wanting another
chance with me. I should have known better. I
should have known Jessica Hills was doing
everything to break us ap@rt. She was in Evan’s
be-droom, but it was his be-droom at his
parents house when they were back in high
school. She’d edited the picture to make hit
appear recent, and I was so blinded with rage
and anger, I hadn’t paid close attention to the
background. I only re-ad the caption and
fli-pped out even more when I saw her hands
on him at the gala.
I hated myself for quitting my job and walking
away with br@dley’s arms around me.
I wouldn’t have wanted me back if I was Evan,
so I didn’t blame him. There was only one
person to blame. Me.
I had just taken a shower and finished b!ow
drying my hair when I accidentally peed on
myself again. Sometimes, I just couldn’t feel it
until it traveled down my leg.
I stepped back into the shower and washed
myself over.
I towel dried my skin, applied lotion and
wra-pped my hair up in a bun. I put on a hvge
dress and sat down on my be-d, listening to
some smoothing pop music.
I felt a sudden pain in my stomach, and it
wasn’t the kicking type from the baby. I
couldn’t help but let out gro-an s as I turned the
iPod off and re-moved the earphones from my
ears. I sat up, and the pain c@mยฃ again and
again, and, suddenly, I realized the area I had
been sitting in was we-t.
“Evan!” I managed to call out throu-gh the pain.
As the approximate due d@tยฃ c@mยฃ, Evan
decided he wouldn’t be going into work. He
wanted to be there for the birth of the baby.
“Help!” I called again and my room door was
pushed open.
“I heard you calling,” Doris, one of the maids,
said.
“Get. Evan,” I said slowly and did my breathing
exercise to bypas-s the sharp pains.
In less than a minute, Evan rushed into my
be-droom.

“Is the baby coming?”
I nodded, yes.
I managed to walk to the car with Evan and
Fisher guiding me every step of the way.
“Hurry, Evan! Drive!” I shouted from the back of
the car when he tried to slow down for another
vehicle pas-sing by.
____________
“WHEELCHAIR STAT!” a nurse shouted as she
c@mยฃ up to Evan and I when we got into the
maternity ward.
I was placed into a wheelchair and pushed
towards a pri-vate delivery room for the arrival
of the baby boy. Evan jogged behind us.
“Jasmine Blackman, Evan Hollen, I’m Doctor
hvghman, and I’ll be delivering your baby
today,” a friendly doctor said to us as I was
placed onto a be-d.
I felt my legs being stretched ap@rt.
“Eight centimeters. Almost there,” he said.
“Nine centimeters. Get re-ady,” he said, twenty
minutes later.
The pain was unbearable.
How can some women have five and six kids? I
asked myself.
“Okay, Jasmine, you’re there. When I tell you to
push, I want you to give me a really big push
to crown the baby, okay?” he asked and looked
un-derneath the sheets. “Okay Jasmine, push!”
I summoned up my strength and gave a
mighty push.
Evan looked on quietly while removing the
sweat from my forehead with a towel.
“UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHH!”
“Okay. That was good. Now push again!”
“ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!”
I p@n-ted. I began feeling like my energy was
being su-cked away from my bยฉdy and I
couldn’t push anymore.
“Jasmine. One more. Dig de-ep!”
“You can do it,” Evan coached.
“ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I dug de-ep
down for it, and, it was after that push, I heard
the sound of my baby boy crying.
The doctor wra-pped him in a blanket.
“Would you like to cut the umbilical cord, Mr
Hollen?” he asked Evan.
“Sure. Of course. Yes!” Evan bec@mยฃ excited
as he went over to the baby while I tried to
regain some strength.
“Have you officially decided on a name?” Dr.
hvghman asked.
“Yes, we have,” Evan answered.
“Jevan,” I said and smiled as Evan brou-ght him
over to me.
________
Jevan was the tiniest, most handsome little
human being. His eyes remained closed so I
was yet to see the color of them. His little
hand wra-pped around my f!ngersand he made
the cutest cooing noises.
April 13th. He c@mยฃ into the world.
Tears of happiness welled into my eyes as I
looked at him in my arms.
“Hi baby, it’s Mommy. We’ve officially met,” I
said as the tears fell down my cheeks.
Evan looked on and his eyes seemed to shine
at us.
“Hey, little guy. It’s Daddy,” he said, leaning
over and tou-ching his small hand.
Jevan’s eyes immediately flew open when he
heard Evan’s voice and I saw they were a
luminous pair of grey.
