Chris POV
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and energetic. Although I’m yet to recover my childhood memories, I’ve discovered who my family is.
With the docu-ment in that safe, I can get all my parents properties back and that’s exactly what I’m going to be doing today.
I will claim what rightfully belongs to me but I’ll have to lie low for a while before revealing my identity to the world. I have to deal with my enemies first and also help Mitchell complete her tasks.
After taking my bath, I wore my clothes and picked up my phone. Mitchell was strangely staring at me and I gave her a questioning look.
“Why did you wear new clothes today?” she asked
“New clothes will definitely be worn for the first time right? I just decided to wear it today, no specific reason” I shrugged
“Should I really believe you?” she asked biti-ng her finger softly
“If you don’t believe me, who else will believe me then?” I asked
“Just make sure you return home early today. Staying at home all day makes me bored” she pouted
“Sure ma’am” I said and bowed jokingly
“You should leave now do you’ll return early” she said
“Sure! Take care of yourself and don’t go out”
“Yes! Yes! You said the same thing yesterday so I remember clearly. I’ll stay indoor all day and stare at the ceiling like a lost puppy” she rolled her eyes and pulled the duvet over herself
I walked to the bedside and pulled the duvet down a bit, after which I kis-sed her slightly on the li-ps.
“I’ll leave now” I said and walked out of the room
Now, where do I start from? My parents company are too many and some have even be sold. Today is going to be a really long day and I doubt if I’ll be able to finish the work today.
I started from the one closest to where I lived and filed a lawsuit against them. I made sure I wore shades when meeting anyone related to the company, even the lawyer I hired.
I sued them one after the other, for taking companies that weren’t theirs and most importantly, for using fake docu-ments.
In just that one day, I was able to file a complaint against ten companies and I was do tired by the end of the day.
Mitchell asked me to return early but I’m still outside by this time. If I decide to continue now, she might get mad at me again and I don’t want that. Besides, I’m also very tired.
I returned home and into our room where Mitchell was waiting for me.
“I’m sorry I returned late, I had so many things to do” I apologized and pec-ked her lightly
“It’s fine, what matters is that you’re here now” she said with a soft smile
I took out the ne-cklace I got for her and wore it around her ne-ck. It wasn’t just any ne-cklace, it had a tracker in it and I did it that way so I can know where she is if she ever happens to be in danger. I truly hope I will never have to use it though.
“The ne-cklace is so beautiful, I love it” she squealed and ran her fingers throu-ghit
“I’m glad you like it. I will take a shower now so we can have dinner together” I said and went to the bathroom
I was done in no time and we were about heading downstairs but the ringing of my phone stopped me.
I checked the caller and discovered it was Mr. Williams. I’m sure he wants to ask me why I haven’t been at work lately but I can’t say much since Mitchell is standing here. It’s not like I’m going to tell him the truth anyway.
“Good evening sir” I greeted politely
“Evening son. I called to ask you why you’ve been absent from work lately. Is everything okay?” he asked
“Everything is fine Dad. I just had something to take care of” I said with a short laugh
“Alright then. See you at the company tomorrow” he said and ended the call
“That was dad?” Mitchell asked
“Yes. He asked me why I left work early today” I lied
I told Mitchell that I went to work today and I have to keep up with the lie, at least for today so she won’t lose her trust in me.
We headed downstairs for dinner after that and I greeted everyone at the table politely.
“So you’re sitting down idly at home now, right? Do you think you can depend on your boyfriend that has not even successfully built one company yet?
He’s only an employee working for your dad so he won’t be able to do anything for you. What was I even expecting anyway? You’re a disgrace to this family and I’m not expecting you to be able to fulfill even one out of the tasks” Mitchell’s grandmother said mockingly
Mitchell was about to flare up but I held her hand and signalled her not to say a word. The only thing she can do to people like this is ignore them completely.
They might be mocking her today now but I can a-ssure them that this is the last time they will ever do that. I’m going to fulfill my duties as Mitchell’s husband from now on and protect her in situations like this.
After we were done eating, we retired to our rooms and laid on the bed.
“I’m the worst husband in the world, I couldn’t even speak up for my wife” I said sadly and stared at the ceiling
“No, don’t say that. You’re actually the best husband in the world. You might not have said anything but I know exactly how you feel and I’m grateful to have you by my side. That alone is more than enough strength for me” she said with a smile
“Alright, let’s go to bed already. You will be resuming work tomorrow and I’m sure you don’t want to go late” I said and pulled the duvet over us.
As soon as it was morning the next day, some companies became mine already but I had to go to Mr. Williams company as an employee.
I went there in the morning and stayed until 12pm on the afternoon before leaving for the day.
I went to the nearest out of the companies and checked the progress and other important things. I drafted new plans and schedules and moved to the next company.
After successfully taking care of three out of the companies, I returned home tiredly. The next few weeks will probably be too hectic for me too handle and I don’t know if Mitchell will find out this way.
“Chris, why do you look so tired?” she asked as soon as I entered our room
I had something to take care of but I didn’t know it will be this tiring” I said and fell on the bed weakly
“What’s wrong?” she panicked
“I told dad not to make you do much work. How can he stress you so much?” she asked angrily
“It wasn’t your dad’s company. I want to work on my own company so I can be able to help you. The monthly pay I get from your dad won’t be enough so I decided to do something else.
Don’t worry about me! Once I take some pain relievers now, I’ll be fine and it will be like nothing happened” I said and stood up
I managed to take a shower but I was too tired to go to the dining room so I asked her to eat with me in our room.
“You won’t be going anywhere tomorrow because at this rate, you will break down. Just stay at home and rest okay?” she said
I nodded my head slowly even though I wasn’t planning to listen to her. She will be going to the agency tomorrow so all I have to do is wait until she leaves. I also need to return home early so she won’t find out.
*Next day*
I waited patiently until Mitchell left the house and headed to the agency. I hurriedly took my bath and got dressed after which I headed to one of my companies.
I’m going to start helping Mitchell out from today before someone else steps into the picture. The plan is simple.
When it’s time for her lunch break, I’ll ask one of my employees to call her. He’s going to disguise as the CEO pending the time I’ll reveal my identity to the public.
I briefed him about the plan and stop by the other companies to see how they were doing before returning home.
I’ve decided to release Mr. Eduardo since I don’t need him for any reason again. I haven’t confronted Kathryn about my sister yet, I’m still waiting for the perfect time to do that.
Mitchell’s POV
I couldn’t fully concentrate on my work as I thought about how Chris is doing at home. He must be so lonely and bored, I guess I should have stayed with him.
After receiving lectures until lunch time, I decided I was going to go home first. I’ll just order something and have lunch with Chris before returning to the agency.
On the way home, I picked up my phone and was about dialing Chris’s number but an unknown call came in at that moment.
I wanted to ignore it at first but something just told me to answer it. Who knows? It might be someone important.
“Good afternoon! Please, am I speaking with Mitchell Campbell?” the male voice asked
“Yes, I’m Mitchell Campbell. How can I help you?” I asked confusedly
“Well, I’m the new CEO of RD company and I saw a site you’re building. I want to know more about it and invest in it, can we meet right away?” he asked
Oh my goodness! My insides were literally screaming at the sudden outburst. I’ve been asking God to help me, could it be that this is the help I’ve been praying for?
“I will be there very soon. I think it will be better to meet at the site so we can talk about it and also see it” I said anxiously
“Yes, I was also thinking about that. I’ll be there in a few minutes” he said and ended the call
This is a huge opportunity that I can’t miss for anything in the world. Miracles like this are rare to come by and I can’t be careless with it.
I turned my car around and headed to the building. Chris will have to wait until evening before we can talk. I know he will also be happy for me once I break the good news to him.
Within a few minutes, I arrived there and got down from my car. Fortunately, the man arrived at that same time so I didn’t have to wait.
“Good afternoon” I greeted politely
“Afternoon! So you’re working on this project right?” he asked
“Yes, I am” I answered
“Alright. May I know what exactly you want to produce in this company? Is it consumer goods or do you want to develop new technologies?” he asked
“I would like to develop new technologies but I need to complete the building first. Once that is done, I will sit with the technical team I will be hiring and we’ll decide on exactly what technology to develop.
I have a long way to go but I can’t make small products like consider goods. I need to make a huge amount of profit within just two months so I need something huge like technology” I explained
“Okay, I can un-derstand your point. Right now, do you have enough money to complete this building?” he asked
“I’ll just call the architect” I said and went inside to call him
“How much do you have left and will it be enough to finish the project?” I asked him

“It won’t be enough ma’am. I think we will need about one million dollars more” he said
“O…one more? I really wasn’t expecting it to cost this much” I said with a stutter
“We are also trying to minimize the cost but this is as far as we can go. You’re building a very big company so of course, it will cost a lot” he said
“What’s your account details?” the CEO asked
The architect called the details for him and we soon heard the a notification signifying a message.
“That’s two million dollars. Make sure you use the best materials and complete the building quickly. You have to finish it by the end of the month” the CEO said
Two million dollars? This is really crazy! How can he just transfer two million dollars to him when we’re meeting for the first time?
“I’m going to wait until the end of the month before getting back to you again. I’ll take my leave now” he bowed politely and left
I stared at him with my mouth agape until his car drove away. I’ve heard that miracles happen but this is the first time I will be seeing it with my own eyes. Good people truly still exist on earth.
