CHAPTER FORTY FIVE: VILLAGE FESTIVAL 5
Regina could feel the hatred emitting from concubine lily body, as to why she hates me, I still don’t know…could it be that she sense the mate bond I have with Lord Mammon.
But then am told she is just human, that’s what the black clothed man said before pointing my mate to me ” milady?” Mumbling I open the carriage door for her, she didn’t even bother to smile before stepping into the carriage.
Nodding to myself I walk in then sit opposite her before it starts moving, if I was in her situation I will also feel scared and if am guessing correctly, she wants me out of the palace and far away from her love.
The way she stare at Lord Mammon it is sure she loves him.
” Tell me ” her voice brou-ght me back to reality ” tell me why you’re here ” from the look in her eyes, I could see pure hatred, she really hate me.
” Forgive me if my presence anger you milady ”
” That doesn’t answer my question”
” I had no other place to go milady and the moment I saw Lord Mammon I asked for his help ”
” You mean you are poor and an orphan”
” Yes milady” my response however brou-ght smiles to her face.
” What do you think Regina” her eyes turned deadly and I hate to admit this, but fear creep into me ” you don’t move around like someone who doesn’t have pride, you don’t even know how to wash the dishes properly and here you are telling me lies”
” You have no right to ask me questions” I growl back, getting pissed at how she quickly notice my lies ” the only person who has that right is Lord Mammon”
” But then he brou-ght you to serve me ” her words made me remember my agreement with the king and I frown, she definitely knows where to hit ” admit Regina ” she frown ” you love Lord Mammon”
” Not on purpose milady ”
” What do you mean?”
” He is my mate, I couldn’t help the feelings ” I look at her with a smile ” the gods arrange it ” at that moment the carriage stopped, indicating that we have arrived, I look outside the window and stare at the crowds ” milady, we are here” giving her a smile I notice how she looks distant, lost in thoughts” milady?”
” Hmmm” I watch her step off the carriage slowly, her eyes haven’t change its colour, it still has that intent to kill and am scared that they is more to this fragile looking concubine than it meets the eye.
Lord Mammon stare at the bodies lied up in his plantation ” you mean you find forty men dead this morning”
” Yes milord ” baron answered while inspecting them carefully ” they is no marking, feels like their souls left their body ”
” Souls” mumbling I look at the sky ” it happened exactly this time right?”
” No milord, at midnight” baron stand to his feet then stare at me” when everyone is asleep ”
” Most of the men are old ”
” Yes milord ”
” Hmmmm” bending down I stare at them, they lost their souls which could mean only one thing, the spirit of death but then did lily kill them? She was in the bed all night, if she stepped out I would have noticed ” baron ”
” Milord?”
” What’s your suspicion baron ”
” Death milord ” he mumble exactly what I was thinking ” only death spirit take souls off body of their victim and it seem, the time for this men to die has arrived ”
” Death ” placing my hands behind my body I stare at the sky, I have a bad feeling about this….lily going out alone with Regina.
That is not something I expected to happen but then am left wondering if my silly lily will kill her.
It’s something I wish to watch.
” Set my carriage”
” Where to milord?”
” The festival”
Lily place her hands on her che-st as she move around the crowd, every single person here looks happy…. The street lights, the magic shows, the music, everything seem great but then I can’t help but to feel like am missing something.
Blood, yes that’s what my mind is saying, blood…I want to see blood, haven’t seen it in days and then Regina blood doesn’t sound that bad.
But she is Lord Mammon mate.
“More reason to kill her ” the voice in my head keep repeating itself and even speaks out now, what’s happening…using my hands to cover my ears I stand still, eyes closed, trying to calm myself.
A soft hand touch my shoulder and I open my eyes to stare at Regina” milady, you look…..”
” Shut it ”
” But”
” I said shut it!!!!!” Am not responsible for my actions anymore, I find myself moving, moving into a dark corner, I want to stop but I can’t…my legs keep walking on its own and then I think my real self pa-ss out in me.
” Milady ” Regina hold my hand, stopping me right on my track ” that place is too dark for you to be in, you might ….”
” Die?” I mumble, I find it really funny how these weak beings think death can die ” have you ever seen death perish?” Regina let go of my hands and I furrow my brows ” a witch? You’re a witch, I have been asleep for seventeen years but due to your talk about mate, it seem to wake me up, earlier than expected. ”
” You confuse me milady ”
” Indeed, you’re a creature of little un-derstanding ”
” I should get you back to the palace” not saying a word, I watch her open her mouth to say something else but I beat her to it, I rather slap her across the face to shut her up, she step back and cough blood.
Yes that’s it, blood, how long have it been that I was acting all naive and childish? It feels like centuries ” milady ”
” Do you wish to live Regina?”
” Yes milady”
” Bring me that little boy” I point to the crowd, the little boy wearing red and lic-king Ice cream.
” I will like to ask why milady ”
” Punishment” smiling I look at her ” I will like to punish him for lying besides am the deity for humans”

Lily stare at the scared looking Regina, she didn’t move nor did she run, I watch her remain standing and breathless” what is it red”
” Red?” Her voice calm ” only Lord Mammon call me red no one else ”
” Oh ” looking around I fake a naive smile ” that’s okay, you’re his mate after all ” moving close I notice her let down her guard
” I thought you lost your mind completely milady ” she smile ” you wanting to kill that boy was preposterous”
” Indeed ” nodding my head I stare at her closely ” I should go for someone older and stronger ”
” Yes” she smile before realizing what I said ” wait what???”
” I will go for someone strong enough to struggle before dying ” looking round the crowd I start to walk and Regina footsteps catch up with me, the crowds fill with people, some happy, anxious,sad,hungry, angry
It however doesn’t bring back memories, I never thought that coming back to the past will be this boring, surely they have to be something fun.
Will Lord Mammon be fun? It seem this new me love him and is jealous of Regina being the mate, all the men I have loved before all had mate…..coming to the past won’t change a thing, am not lucky with love.
” Regina”
” Milady?”
” I wish to see Lord Mammon” mumbling I watch the curiosity in her eyes ” I miss him ”
” But you wanted to kill someone few minutes back ”
I furrow my brows” so what?” Growling I step closer ” do not make me think of killing you, do as I said if u wish to live ”
” Yes milady ” watching her bow her head I smile then suddenly feel weak, kind of dizzy ” you do know that you annoy people most times” Regina look up with a evil smile on her face ” no body here knows you’re the lord’s favorite and everyone seem so busy with celebrating that they won’t notice you losing consciousness”
” What is this spell?” I step back, holding my head, it won’t stop turning and Regina seem to be two now or is it three ” what kind of magic is this ”
” I think you have been asleep too long Ali…..” Before she complete my name, I notice her stop, her whole expression turns innocent ” milady are you alright?” She step forward but I step back with a furrow brows.
Taking three more steps back I notice someone hands on my shoulder” lily?” His voice kind of calming, is this the man I love? ” You seem really tired” he mumble the moment he turn me around and I just couldn’t help but to stare at him.
Well technically am seeing four of him but then, four hot handsome him! ” Milord?”
” What” he smile, a single dimple on his right cheek ” it seems like you don’t recognize me ” the spell is starting to wash off and am seeing clearly now, I look around to notice people are no longer dancing, their heads bow down for their king but some kept staring at him and me of course.
Am definitely going to be in the newspaper tomorrow.
“You keep looking at me strangely ” Lord Mammon tone fill with worry ” don’t tell me you don’t remember me?”
” Of course not milord ” mumbling, I suddenly lose balance and fall into his arms, I thought the spell is no longer working ” am just dizzy ”
” Dizzy? ”
I nod ” your lovely red just tried killing…..” I couldn’t complete my sentence before I lose consciousness.
Lord mammon lift lady Lily up in a bridal way before his gaze move to meet an innocent looking girl, she look so calm and collected that you will never imagine her killing someone.
But then the files baron brou-ght concerning her tells a different story entirely ” continue the festival, I shouldn’t distract my people from just a joyous day” after that, the music came back on, the dancing, celebration and me moving back to my carriage ” Regina”
” Yes milord?” She hurriedly walk to my side.
” What happened to her ”
“I think she suddenly start losing consciousness after demanding to kill a little boy ”
” Kill?” I stop moving then look at her ” are you sure?”
” Yes milord ” she nod, Bowing her head ” she said she is the deity of humans ” I watch Regina quickly lift her head ” what if something is happening to her, what if she is slowly losing her mind”
” Hmmm” mumbling I step into the carriage and place lily gently on the couch, Regina step in and sit opposite.
” Milord, she is dangerous to you ”
” Hmmm” I look at her carefully ” what do you suppose I do with her then ”
” Kill her milord ”
” Kill you say ”
” For the greater good ”
” Indeed ” folding my hands I ask ” give me a reason why killing her will do me good ”
” She is death milord” Regina mumble, from her eyes you could tell she wish to save me…. How funny is it that she want to save me from my woman ” she will bring you pain ”
” How do you know she is death ”
” I sensed it ”
” Is that why you tried killing what’s mine?” I blink and the oxygen in her lungs, slowly disappear, bit by bit….I watch her cough, looking for air, trying to breath but can’t.
Dying slowly.
” The audacity one have to try killing what’s mine and that to my favorite” looking out the window I stare at the moving trees ” lily has always been afraid this will happen but I on the other hand wishes to see more of your power ” my gaze move back to a half dead Regina ” don’t pull such a thing ever again ”
She nod and I break the spell, I watch her try to catch her breath, colour returning to her face ” you lowlife ” I mumble and after few seconds the carriage stopped indicating we are back to the palace, I lift lily up slowly before taking her to the main palace and my chamber.
Placing her on the bed, I watch her turn then yawn ” must be having a nice sleep aren’t you ” mumbling I touch her face, moving the hair out of my way ” silly lily ”
She blink then open her eyes but they is something intense about this gaze, she quickly sit up then move back a little ” milord?” She has been acting like she doesn’t remember me, no she does but the feeling, that love and care seem to be lost or hidden.
” Lily” I frown ” you run from my touch now?”
She nod ” yes milord ”
” Why?”
” It brings feeling I fear to ex-pose ever again ” furrowing my brows at her words she bite her lower li-p ” you have a mate milord ”
” That’s preposterous”
