REPLACEMENT GIRL
CHAPTER 29

*AHMAD’S POV*
Last month, I was in the be-d slee-ping soundly with Humairah when a call woke us up. It was my mother, and just as I picked the call I heard the saddest news of my life. My father was unconscious. It was his BP, he had actually been battling with it for a very long time.
I quic-kly changed from my night attire into a polo t©p and jeans hence, took my car key and then bade Humairah goodbye about to leave.
“Wait, honey. I am also going with you” She said as she withdrew from the be-d and unhesitatingly began changing her cloths.
“No, you can’t come!” I protested. “I don’t want anyone to know about us, we are yet to achieve our goal so let’s keep laying low for now until we…”
“I am scared!” She cut in and continued. “This news got me scared, I don’t think I can stay here alone” She put on her hijab.
“There is nothing to be scared of, Humairah” I heaved a sigh and gently walked over to her. “He will be fine, In Shaa Allah (God’s Willing)”
“Ameen” She said looking de-ep into my eyes. “I just don’t think I can stay here alone, plea-se take me with you”
“But you are pregnant, Humairah. I don’t want you to be involved into this, okay?” I said holding her warmly.
“It’s just 3 months, plea-se don’t go without me” She said with a pleading gaze. “plea-se honey, plea-se”
“Ugh!” I muttered. “Okay, but pretend as if…”
“I am your new secretary, right?” She cut in. “No problem, honey”
I didn’t say anything to her, I only heaved a sigh and gestured to her to follow me. Thus, we went out to my car and drove to my father’s mansion. The guards told us he was taken to Victory Specialist Hospital which was few kilometres away. Join us on our telegram page to re-ad more of such stories from there throu-gh Ohene ish on+233544142683.We reversed back and drove there hastily. As soon as we were taken to his ward by a nurse, we found out he had alre-ady pas-sed away. That moment, I felt like the whole world was on my head. I broke down completely. My mother and some of our relatives were also crying. It was a great loss!
The news had alre-ady gone viral and it had been aired on both TV and Radio stations exclusively across the nation. Many journalists filled the hospital’s gate waiting to get more information. Thank God the hospital had two gates, we left throu-gh the back gate with my father’s corpse. We took it back to the mansion to prepare it for jana’iza (burial). My mother recited the whole Qur’an on him which took her hours to finish. She was a hafiza (Memorizer of the Holy Qur’an). It was a miracle that no one noticed Humairah, albeit she cried along with everyone.
“Alhaji’s doctors are here” My father’s personal as-sistant (PA) announced as soon as he entered.
“To do what?” My mother asked in tears.
“They nee-d to observe something” He said.
Just then, the doctors bounced in and greeted us. I was weak, I didn’t even know what to say.
“It’s okay, Ahmad. Where is Rania?” One of my Aunts asked. “And who’s this girl?” She gestured towards Humairah.
“Rania is at home, I haven’t called her yet” I said wiping off my tears. “And… and this one here is my…”
“plea-se call Rania” She cut in and continued. “But don’t tell her Baba is dead, just tell her to come right now”
“Okay” I muttered as I pu-ll-ed out my phone from my pocket and then dialed Rania’s contact. “Rania, plea-se come to Baba’s mansion. It’s urgent!” I said and quic-kly ended the call before she could utter a word.
Seconds later she called back but I refused to pick the call, she should just come and solve the mystery by herself because there was no way I could break the news for her on phone.
Minutes later, I told Humairah to go downstairs in case Rania arrives so she could usher her directly to where we were. The sitting room was crowded, you know, and Rania might not know where we were.
Humairah went downstairs and later on c@m£ back with Rania, hence Rania bur-sted into tears as she ran over to Baba’s dead b©dy and began shaking it to wakeup. I had to cudd-leher earnestly. My mother bur-sted into tears again, same as Humairah and others.
My father was buried Islamically an hour later. His death was so sudden, no one ever thought he would die at such age (65). He had the best doctors around him and he was always taking cared of by them but Allah has alre-ady made it clear to us that no one will skip his / her appointed time of death and everyone must certainly taste death.
My un-dercover marriage with Humairah went viral after Ka7 c@m£ to me and told me it was a shame that my father died without knowing I had a second wife. His words pained me, it was a bitter truth hence I broke the news to everyone. No one was against it because they were still traumatised by the death of my father. It was only Rania that went against it and even asked me to divorce her, I had to suffer for almost two weeks before finally calming her down and ma-king her accept Humairah. It wasn’t really easy, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy later on and we named him Jaafar – after my father. He was very fair and so adorable like I had predicted.
Five months later, our Humairah gave birth to triplets and they are named Aisha, Jasraa, and Qudrah.
Sometimes, happiness is something you have to create for yourself. Don’t wait for someone to do it for you. You can do it, just try and see.
REPLACEMENT GIRL
CHAPTER 30
*- Five Years Later -*
*INTERVIEWS*
Tv Reporters: Tell us more about yourself, Humairah. We heard your marriage with Ahmad Jaafar Zaki was done secretly, true or false?
Humairah: (Laughs), that was five years ago. Yes, it was done secretly and I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I am Hajiya Humairah Ahmad Mus’ab. I was once a masturbator but Alhamdulillah, I quited it long time ago after so much prayer (Sighs).
The first day I met my husband, Ahmad was the day he hit my uncle’s car. I was just 16 to 17 by then. I later bec@m£ his cook and guess what? He didn’t even recognized me at all. From cook to friend, I.T student and then to housewife. And now, our triplets would soon be celebr@ting their 4th birthday. They are Aisha, Jasraa, and Qudrah. So beautiful.
Tv Reporters: How about your occu-pation?
Humairah: People say if your husband is rich you don’t have to work, well my own husband is a billionaire and one of the youngest CEOs in the world yet I teach in a pri-vate school. Look, you don’t have to always wait for someone to give you something, find your own way too.
Tv Reporters: That’s correct but many people dislike teaching, what can you say about that.
Humairah: Actually, the government is the main reason why people dislike teaching. If you go to other countries of the world, teachers are the ones receiving the highest salary but not in Nigeria. Teaching isn’t valued here and that’s why many people are running away from it.
But ask yourself, if everyb©dy is to run away from teaching then who will teach our children at school? Nob©dy! And we all know that without teachers there won’t be any profession, hence running away from the job won’t do us any good but harm. I even had the chance to work with NAFDAC but I turned down their offer because I loved teaching.
Tv Reporters: Indeed teaching is good, may God bless all our teachers.
Humairah: Ameen.
Tv Reporters: Thank you for being with us, Humairah Ahmad Mus’ab. We really appreciate it. Thank you and thank you.
Humairah: (Smiles), my plea-sure.

Tv Reporters: Dr. Rania Bappah, we heard you recently completed your PhD program. Can you tell us something about your life?
Rania: Well, (clears throat) I’ve experienced a lot in my life. Let’s just forget about the past. I made my peace with Humairah and I am happy to share Ahmad with her, not because of anything but because of her good heart and beautiful triplets. She’s pres£ntly pregnant, me too but with my third child. The first one was Jaafar, then Bappah. You know, Ahmad love children and we ought to bore him as many as we can (laughs). Things are now much better.
Tv Reporters: People used to say you are more beautiful than Humairah and so Ahmad loves you more, is that true? Tell us about it plea-se.
Rania: (Hisses), don’t mind people with their I-too-know. Humairah is beautiful and I am beautiful too. The only difference is she’s a complete Nigerian while I am an Arabian – Nigerian. My skin colour is so much different and so as to my appearance but that doesn’t mean I am more beautiful than her.
As for who Ahmad loves more, I really don’t know. All I know is Ahmad loves us both and we are living peacefully with each other.
Tv Reporters: Thank you for your time, Dr. Rania Bappah.
Rania: You are welcome.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Tv Reporters: Ahmad Jaafar Zaki, the CEO of Zaki Group. Nice to have you here with us.
Ahmad: You are welcome (smiles).
Tv Reporters: Alright, so can you tell us more about your life? Anything you feel like sharing.
Ahmad: Actually, I don’t really have much to say. First of all, what I am enjoying now is my father’s ha-rd working. He was a great man but he also had his problems. He was the first son of Prince Zaki of Mali who c@m£ to Nigeria to seek refuge. They did not believe in the idea of marrying more than one wife whereas Allah has legalized marrying upto four wives. Well, after my father’s death I changed that policy. It is no longer one wife only but the way of Allah. I am pres£ntly blessed with five kids and 2 are on their way from my two beautiful wives.
Tv Reporters: What can you say to your viewers on Wattpad Tv and listeners on Last Fm – 93.5?
Ahmad: Stay strong, and believe in yourself.
