Chapter 3
“Breakfast is ready my sweet heart”, Dorris father called out as usual.
No response.
” Come out for breakfast, you don’t want to be late to the signing event. This is 8:19am and the event is 9:00am.”
No response.
“My partner, go and check on your sister”
Douglas stood up reluctantly.
He entered Dorris room and met her still sleeping.
“Dorris, wake up. You’re late for the signing event!”
That’s how Dorris missed breakfast and ended up running all the way to the hall where the signing event is taking place. She is ten minutes late but the event had not started but a man its talking to the artiste.
“Good morning” Dorris greeted.
“Good morning. Who are you? A reporter. You can go …”
“I’m one of the band”, Dorris replied.
” One of the band?”, the man asked.
“Yes producer. She is the eighth member.”, the director said.
” Eight? Why are the Ginger girls eight? “, he asked.
” You said to pick a perfect number…”, the as-sistant director tried to explain but the producer cut in.
“Seven is a perfect number!”
The as-sistant director mouthed an “O”
“I can’t sponsor eight. You’re out of the band. Try again next time.”, the director told Dorris.
” What!”
Ashley entered the bar and look around. She found Dorris in a corner drinking.entertainment. her.
“What happened? Why are you drinking in the afternoon?”, Ashley asked her.
” How can this happen. Can I be more unfortunate? “, Dorris asked.
” What happened at the event?”
“The producer wants a perfect number and I happen to be the Imperfect number. I’m out of the band!”, Dorris starts crying again.
” It’s okay. Let’s get you home. Don’t mind the imperfect producer. How can they be so mannerless. How can they just kick a person out. He will get his retribution, don’t worry”
Ava walked into the Lobby. She is dressed in a red fitted dress and had black stiletto on. She is carrying a black handbag too.
“I’m here to see Ray”, She told the Receptionist.
” Good Afternoon, Miss. Do you have an appointment?”, the receptionist asked politely.
“I don’t nee-d one. I’m his fiancee”
The Receptionist raise her brows.
“Can I make a call….”
“Don’t! I’m here to surprise him”, Ava said. The Receptionist was torn. She don’t know if she should believe Ava or not.
” His office is on what floor? “, Ava asked ignoring the receptionist complicated expression.
” The 14th Floor”
“Thanks”, Ava said and walked into the elevator.
Ray is busy scanning throu-ghand signing Doc-uments.
His as-sistant is in the office too.
” Is the renovation completed?”, He asked.
“Yes. We are cleaning tomorrow.”, Jerome replied.
” Can we have the opening on sunday?”, He asked, still not looking up at his as-sistant.
“No”
Ray stopped what he is doing and finally looked up.
“No?”
“I mean we nee-d to employ staffs, sign managers, bring in as-sistants, trainers and most especially artistes, actors, actress, ballerina and….”
“Must we employ all those people before we have the opening?”, Ray asked.
” Yes”
“Send the vacancies out. Get people from the HR department of our company and transfer them to Rays entertainment”
“Okay.”
“Transfer on of the financial secretaries to Rays entertainment. Tell the HR of Rays entertainment to be in charge of employing all other staff except the managers, the make up artiste and the as-sistants. I will interview and employ this set of people my self. Tell them to schedule the interview. I will do it on monday. I will also try to bring in some experienced manager so that they will be able to train the rookies manager.
Leave the Entertainers to me. I will bring them in”
“Noted”
“I…”
The phone rang.
“Yes?…Who?….. Let her in”
He dropped the phone. “Go ahead. Don’t make any mistakes. The Agency nee-ds a good foundation to flourish later. I will trust you with it, Jerome”
“Yes Sir”
The door opened and Ava walked in.
“Hello”, Jerome greeted her.
” Hi”, Ava replied, smiling. “You’re Ray’s as-sistant right? Take care of him for me.”, she added.
” Oh! Of course”, Jerome said and walked out of the office.
“You can’t just come around during working hours without informing me”, Ray told her.
” Good afternoon, Ray. I did not plan to disturb your work. I only wants to eat lunch with you “, Ava explained still smiling.
” Still, you should have called. Let’s go out for lunch. What do you want to eat?”, he asked her.
“Chinese hot pot”, she said.
” ok. Let’s look for a chinese shop”
Dorris was scrolling throu-ghher phone when she saw the headline.

Dorris started crying again. She should have been part of this band. To hell with a perfect number.
“My sweetheart, are you crying?”, her father asked.
” No”, Dorris replied still crying.
“C’mon, my sweetheart. It’s their loss you know.”
“Sis, it is not as if there are no more auditions. Why are you wasting your time here crying instead of auditioning?”, Douglas asked.
” I just got this audition form for you. It’s a musical though”, He added.
Dorris jumped up.
“Let me take a look. Who is the director?”
Ray entered the private room. He smiled when he saw the people waiting for him. His manager, his two as-sistant and make up artiste with Three men that he us quite unfamiliar with.
“I’m sorry fir keeping you waiting”, he said.
“It’s fine chairman Ray. We all know you are a busy man.”, his make up artiste said.
Ray smiled.” Miss Fay is been too nice”, he said and sat down.
“Ray, as you know. I’m an employee for the agency, I can’t just terminate the contact like that…… Don’t worry. All this people will work with you”, his manager said.
” Of course, I know you will not want to leave the agency after all, my agency is still a rookie agency. I’m not planning to take my former agency employees. I only ask you to help me look around and see if there are good managers you know who will be willing to work in my agency. Don’t talk as if I said I wanted to scout you.”, Ray knew his manager is always looking at the big picture. He is probably thinking that his agency will take years to develop. So he is trying to pave way for himself so that he can come to the agency when it is developed.
Ray turn to the three men.
“Who?”, he asked.
” The managers that lost their job because of their artiste scandal”, one of his as-sistants replied.
Ray nodded.
“So are you all ready to start Rays entertainment with me?”

Chapter 4
“So are you ready to start Rays entertainment with me?”, Ray asked.
They all kept quiet until Miss Fay spoke.
” I’m in”
“Director Fay of the costume and make up department.” Jerome entered the private room and gave the the contract to Miss fay. “Read throu-ghthe contract and sign it. See if you want any adjustment.”, Ray said.
” I’m getting a car?”
“Yes in as much as you work in the company, the car is yours.”, Ray told her.
” We are in”, The managers said.
“The three of you will be senior managers in the company. A manager is flying in tomorrow. Her contract had expired with the agency she signed with and I ask her not to renew the contract. She will be the Managing Director of Rays Entertainment. The three of you together with her will interview rookie managers tomorrow. We are employing Three of them for now.”, Ray said while Jerome hand over the contract to the men.
Ray point to his closest as-sistant when he is still an as-sistant.
” You will be the most Senior as-sistant of Rays entertainment while Audrey will be the senior as-sistant. You will interview the as-sistants tomorrow. We are employing 20 of them. as-sign as-sistant to the officials in the agency and to the A list, B list and C list artiste.”
Jerome gave them the contracts.
“Manager Joe. Thanks for coming”, Ray said and stood up.
He walk straight to the private room facing the one he just came out from. They were waiting already.
” Hello, directors.”, He greeted.
He sat down.
“Sorry for keeping you waiting”, he added.
” Why do you ask to meet?”, one of them asked.
“I want to inform you of my agency. You have to put me in mind. My Entertainers are available.”, Ray said.
” As if you’ve signed artistes”, one of the old directors said.
Ray smiled.
“I’m inviting you to the opening. You will find out if I have artistes or not. Director smart, where is the ballet director you said you will scout?”
“Here. My name is Nancy”, the female director said.
” Will you direct the ballet for Rays entertainment?”, Ray asked her.
“Yes, I will. Let’s take a look at the contract”
Jerome gave her the contract.
“You’re providing accommodation and a car?”, she asked.
” yes”
“The contract look nice. I will read carefully and get back to you”
“Ok”, Ray said.
” Let’s drink”, He added
“Get reporters and let them announce that we are opening on sunday”, Ray told Jerome.
” Rays entertainment?”
“Yes”
“But we don’t have artiste yet.”
“Nancy had promise to audition the dancers tomorrow. So we will have ballerina before the day.”
Ray said casually, drinking water.
“We can’t …..”
“Trust me and do what I ask you to do. Don’t forget to inform them that the great and mighty manager Dorothy will be the MD of Rays entertainment.”, Ray said.
Jerome sigh.
‘I really hope you have back up plans’,
Jerome thought.
It’s finally the day of Rays entertainment opening. The building is crowded with reporters.

A van stopped in front of the agency. The red carpet is outside. The reporters turn their camera to the van. Soon the door open and the driver got down to open the door for whosoever is in the vehicle.
A feet in stiletto stepped out of the car. The reporters are not ready to miss any details.
The lady came out and Ray fans that have come to cheer him up start screaming. The lady is Benedict, a fashion model. Benedict walk to the red carpet. The host started asking her question.
“Did you sign with Rays entertainment?”, The male host asked.
” Yes, I did. I did not have an agency before but I suddenly felt the nee-d for an agency so I decided to sign with Ray entertainment. ”
“You’re looking beautiful”, the host praised.
” Thanks.”, Benedict said.”You are not bad yourself”
Another van pulled over and the reporters start flashing their camera.
A couple came out of the van. They are artistes. that just became well_known six months ago. Several agencies had been trying to sign them.
“It’s coastal duo”, The fans started screaming.
” They are really the one. I thought they are outside the country when did they fly in.
A limousine pull over. The fans started screaming like crazy when Ray Stepped out of the vehicle.
Ray helped the lady in the car out and it turns out to be popular actress Melinda. Melinda is an A list Celebrity well known for her acting. She has receive several awards for acting. She had won the best actress award for the past two years. She actually had to terminate her contract with her company just to sign with Ray.

“What is it?”, she asked answering her call. It’s a guy named Guy. Thet met during an audition and whenever any of them saw a notification of an audition, they will inform each other.
” Audition? I’m fed up of…. What! Rays entertainment?”
