Episode 55

Ca-ssie got down from the car and chuckle.
“Thanks for tonight Austin,” she smile.
“Thank you for giving me the chance Ca-ssie. Am better than Miguel and I will give you everything you will ever need, ” he said.
” I know..
” But due to my past experience I don’t want us to rush things, please allow me to get to know you first, ”
” Am patient and I will wait forever if i will have you at the end, ” he said.
” Goodnight, ” she smile then walked back to the house.
” And who is that guy that drop you? Terri asked when Ca-ssie went inside.
“It’s Austin my new friend,” she said.
“Your new friend, it barely five days after that incident that happened to Miguel yet you’ve started going out with that guy?
“Stop talking as if Miguel and I were something else before, ” she sigh.
” But he loves you and he made that clear to you,” Terri said.
“I have my choice and Miguel is not part of it” she said.

” I know you trust that girl so much but the painful part is that she’s dating your bestfriend now and not even caring about you, ” Yeng blab when she went to the room where Miguel’s was.
He was lying there so weak with a bandage wrapped around his stomach.
“I know I shouldn’t be telling you this especially in this condition but it crystal clear that girl Ca-ssie doesn’t love you nor care about you. You deserves someone better, ” Yeng said while Miguel just kept mute staring at the ceiling the whole time.
“I have to go now,” she said then walked out.

At the gate…⛪
Ca-ssie was just about to enter when a car stopped by and there came Stacy..
“You bit-ch ! Stacy yelled at her. The security quickly stop Stacy from coming any close.
” Your not allowed to come in here,” The security guard said.
” You’ve always been a bad luck Ca-ssie.. why was Miguel shot, was that part of your plan to kill him and take away everything?
“Be careful with your accusation Stacy and stay away from me and mind you Miguel is doing okay he doesn’t need you around, ” Ca-ssie said as she walked inside leaving her there.
Ca-ssie went straight to Miguel’s ward and meet him sitting.
“Miguel..,” she called as she walked in.
His whole body smiled when he saw her, for the past three days she haven’t step her feet to visit him there, it seems like she doesn’t bother.
“Are the rumours true? He asked while Ca-ssie looked at him.
“Just spill it out,” he said more calmly.
” Am sorry..
” Are you dating Austin now? He asked heart broken, the pain he felt was much more than the one he’s feeling in his stomach due to the pain.
“Austin is a nice guy and we are just starting to know each other. Am sorry Miguel but I can’t love you , ” she muttered as she stood up and rushed to the door surprised to see Nadine standing there. She quickly rushed out while Nadine followed her behind.
“Ca-ssie,. What’s that for? She asked.
” Am not asking you to love Miguel. It’s okay if you can’t reciprocate those feelings back but you don’t have to hurt him this way, he’s already going throu-gha lot, ” Nadine said
” And to think that the only person you’re going out with is Austin!
“You have no right to judge me,”
Ca-ssie blink back the tears in her eyes and walked away.
Nadine walked back in and saw the sad expression on his face.
“Miguel! Nadine called sadly.
” I want to be alone Nadine,” he said calmly.
” Please just try to understand Ca-ssie..
” Leave.. please! He yelled as he felt the pain on his chest.
Nadine was so sad for her brother she have never seen him this way, she wonder why these will have to happen to him in this condition. Immediately the door went open and Austin walked in.
“Austin! What are you doing here? Nadine asked surprised to see him.
” To see Miguel.. how is he doing,” he asked walking closer.
” Are you actually here to see Miguel or Ca-ssie. What type of friend are you.. it barely a week this happened to Miguel and all you could think of is to chase after Ca-ssie? Nadine asked angrily while Austin look at Miguel who wasn’t saying anything.
“I know you can be crazy and stupid atimes but being this irresponsible is worst of all. I thought we were friends! Nadine yelled.
“You are only concerned about your brother Nadine. Now you are being selfish and self centered, if you’re truly my friend you will understand me too, you will understand my feelings for Ca-ssie and beside she isn’t Miguel’s girlfriend and she doesn’t love Miguel so it not my fault that she’s starting to pick Interest in me and not Miguel. We all are adult and we all have our lives to face, Miguel was more like a brother to me but of recent he stopped telling me anything and to be honest everyone is own it now so don’t judge me with your heart and emotions but atleast judge with your brain, I have every right to be happy too. You should understand me please considering your past experience with Lorenzo,” Austin said as he walked closer to Miguel.
” Wish you quick recovery Miguel,” he said and with that he left…
” There’s more to this because I don’t understand..,” Nadine muttered to herself.

Audrey stood at the balcony as she answered the phone call..
???? Miguel isn’t dead.. did you realize how dumb your plan was, is this how you’ll get your son out of jail! She said to Sonia.
????”It wasn’t me that did the shooting but those incompetent guys I sent. He supposed to be death, I want Josie and Juliana to feel the pain so de-ep in their heart, this is the only way to hurt them where it will hurt he most” she smirked..
????Al I want is Ca-ssie and I will reach out to her soon” Audrey said before hanging up the call.
“I can’t keep hiding forever, I need to execute my plan of moving out of the country but before then I need to clear some people out of the way and Ca-ssie is definitely one of them,” she smirked..

°°Two days Later….????

“Careful Miguel,” his mom said softly as she stood beside him.
” Am okay, I can’t keep staying here doing nothing,” he said as he took few more steps.
” Have you investigate about what actually happened? He asked.
” Sonia was taken for questioning but nothing fruitful was coming out from that as she denied everything so we guess it Audrey, ” Josie said.
” How are you feeling now? He asked.
” Am fine and I will be going back home today, am damn tired of staying here all day. The wound is healing up fast already,”
” It’s okay Miguel, we are always here for you,” Julianna said.
” And we won’t stop until we find the culprit behind all this… If it’s Sonia she will definitely pay,” Josie a-ssured them.

At the club..????
Ca-ssie look around as she sat down next to Austin.
“I visit here once in a while to cool off my head,” he said as he beckoned on the waiter and order for a bottle of champagne.
” Stacy told me you were once a bar dancer so that means you sure know how to dance,” he said while Ca-ssie nodded.
” Sure! but it’s been long I dance..
” You can give it a try for me today,” he smile..
” You seems really close to Stacy and you can’t denied the fact that I once caught you with her while she was dating Miguel, you seems to be a womanizer…
“Stacy is actually nothing to me..
” But Miguel is your best friend,” she chipped in while Austin sighed.
” I thought you value your friendship and you wouldn’t do such behind him, ”
” So are you now for me or Miguel? He asked sensing she was trying to force him say something he shouldn’t say.
“I like you Austin and it’s okay to be curious. Am asking those questions because I want to be sure you truly love me as you keep saying, and looking around your relationship with people seems to be full of betrayal especially your friend Miguel. But if you don’t want too much question then it’s okay with me,” she said then stood up to leave but Austin quickly held her back by the wrist.
“Your different Ca-ssie. Forget about whatever that happened in the past and give me the chance atleast for once Miguel will know I deserve every good thing in life too,” he said..
” Are you competing with Miguel in any way? why are you bothered about being better than him or him been better than you and what about Stacy won’t she come back bothering me again?
” Leave Stacy to me, I know how to handle her and who knows if Miguel will take her back,” he smirked.
” I know how to play this game Austin… Now the real you is starting to come out and then everyone will believe me Including Nadine and Miguel,” she said to herself.

That same night when Miguel was shot he was rushed back to the hospital…
“It was all my fault, if I haven’t delayed us back there this wouldn’t have happened, I was just too stubborn,” Ca-ssie cried as Nadine pulled her into a hug.
” Miguel will be fine,” Nadine cooed.
“The only person am having in mind is Sonia or Audrey… That woman is too desperate,” Nadine said in anger.
” or Austin! Ca-ssie blurt out.
“Austin! Nadine frown when she heard that.
“That guy can be too desperate too. I don’t know him much but with the little I know he’s not really a good friend to Miguel,” Ca-ssie said.
” Austin was one of the friends we had while growing up, he was our childhood friend and we all know each other from the beginning, he wasn’t just a friend to Miguel but more like a brother and not for once has he ever let us down….,” Nadine said.
” I know what am saying Nadine but I don’t think you’ll trust me,” Ca-ssie said while Nadine kept mute as she recalled the memory lane of how Dianne died and how Lorenzo keep saying it was Austin that pushed her off the bridge but no one believed him.
“That’s one of the most hardest thing I have never believe till now even thou some part of me knows Lorenzo will never lie about that… He once told me Austin was the one who pushed Dianne but no one believed him, Miguel got more angry when he even heard that because Austin was also Dianne’s friend and he will never do that to her,” Nadine said.
” That’s explains it.. you were just clouded with the so called friendship you think you had with him, Austin doesn’t value you anymore he only thinks about himself. Anyway that’s just a suggestion I made because seriously I don’t like that Austin one bit,” Ca-ssie said and with that she left, leaving Nadine to think for herself..
” Lorenzo is Austin adopted brother and they live under the same roof, he kept complaining each day about him: yes I know Austin can be a bully, he’s crazy atimes but a murderer: No! I don’t think so!! She thought.

⏭️The other day Nadine was surprised to know Ca-ssie was going out with Austin, especially when she made it clear to Miguel she’s not interested in whatever he said.
“Something doesn’t seems right Ca-ssie and you aren’t telling me,” Nadine said.
” Of course I did but you didn’t believe me,”
“Are you doing that on purpose to hurt Miguel, Austin is our friend,” she said.
” Am doing this to end it once and for all. You’re the only one am telling you this, am trying to get close to Austin because I want to find out what plans he suddenly have for me and to know what’s actually going on in that evil head of his.. you have to know, you have the devil as your friend” she said.
” Just be careful Ca-ssie,”
” Miguel has done a lot for me and I promise myself to find out who is behind this, to get to know the bad egg among us. The enemies are too much and we need to figure out who everyone is to us and please this should be between us, don’t even tell Miguel,,” she said.
” Thank you Ca-ssie,” Nadine hug-ged her.

“She is the only girl i have ever felt this way for,” Miguel said sadly sitting on his bed.
” Maybe you need a change of scenery, you need people, you need noise to distract you from this, you’ve been in this room for three days now and the only thing you keep talking about is Ca-ssie who doesn’t even care about you, ” Josie said
” You can’t force someone to love you and you can’t be force to stop loving someone, love does not give us the chance to choose and if Ca-ssie have made her decision then you have to let it go,” Julianna said.
” It okay,” he nodded…
The only thing that can lit up his mood is to see Ca-ssie but ever since he was discharged back home she haven’t even come to greet, maybe she’s busy with Austin, he wonder why such thing have to befall him and why Austin care less about the whole situation…
Running down the memory lane Lorenzo’s voice echoed in his mind..
****”You think you know Austin so well but the truth is that I know him more than you do. Austin is so selfish and self centered all he ever care for was himself and not others he doesn’t even value your friendship,” Lorenzo’s voice echoed in his mind.
“You still trust Austin huh, don’t be too dumb because you might wake up one day and realized he’s the enemy within,”
” Maybe one-day you will know how exactly it feels to see the only one you love sli-pping away from your arms. Am talking to you not as Nadine brother but as a man just like me,” ****
Now he understands what actually Lorenzo pa-ssed throu-ghand the sense he was making but due to his anger towards him back then it wouldn’t let him figure out who actually Austin was.
Somehow he wished Lorenzo was still alive… If only he listens, he let his anger consume him after the death of Dianne.

“Am sorry for your lost,” Ca-ssie said when Austin told her about the death of his mom years back. He picked her up from work that evening in his car.
“So you had a brother?
” Adopted! He corrected.
“Nadine’s ex? She asked
“Sure… ”
“Their love story ended in tears, it was pathetic he shared the same fate with his parents and had to die in that fire,” Ca-ssie said sadly.
” I never liked him… It was Mom’s doing that he was living with us, even dad doesn’t like him too. And Nadine she was just foolish to fall for someone like him and am glad her dad never agree to their so called relationship,”
” But why?
“Because he don’t deserves anything good, he’s a son of a nobody and no one ever liked him, he’s just a bad luck to everyone around,” he said.
” Maybe that’s why Mr Josie never liked him for his daughter,” she shrugged.
” Doing everything to split the two love birds apart but we couldn’t until we involved Amber in it and that’s when Nadine caught him cheating on her.. it was actually for her good. I care about Nadine too and I wouldn’t want her to end up with a nobody like Lorenzo,”
” We! You said we! That’s means you weren’t the only one who try to split them apart? Ca-ssie asked.
“You ask too much questions Ca-ssie,” Austin laughed sarcastically.
” It’s getting late anyway, goodnight,” Ca-ssie smile but then a car quickly droved with full speed and stopped as they try to drag her into the car with them but she fought them, Austin try to help too by fighting with them but they men were many, they hit Austin and slapped Ca-ssie pushing her to the floor.
One of the men point a gun at her and wanted to pull the trigger..
“the order was not to kill her but get her alive” one of the huge man in mask said. They carried her and get into the car as they zoomed off….
