Chapter 25

• Umbrie’s POV •
Keiran just stood there like nothing happened while Hillary had a mischievous grin. Daphne took it upon herself to confront the trio. She fixed her director badge and stood before Hillary.

“Hillary, why would you do that and distract an entire ha-rdworking team? You have done something absolutely wrong. Do you know what mr Sebastian can do to you?” She fired loudly at him.

“Who the hell is mr Sebastian?” Hillary asked shocking everyone and he seems mostly shocked with himself that he could say something like that. The way his eyes wide-ned.
“I mean… It was an accident.” He nervously corrected and ru-b-bing the back of his head.

First, Hillary is not someone who talks rou-ghly or cursing to people. He’s just like a nerd who’s always quiet and would rather serve people example, Keiran. But the fact that he just made that comment, it’s unbelievable and a ha-rd blow to who I imagined he was. Maybe I don’t know him that well. He might be different towards his friends.
Second, mr Sebastian is trouble.

“Have you gone mad, Hillary? How dare you?” Me Sebastian glowered like he was about to explode.
His face was reddening and his hands were like claws ready to attack. He’s so dramatic.

‘Are you still letting him hold you?’
A voice asked in my head and I flinched, shifting from Terry’s hold.

That was a mind link message from Keiran and my eyes darted to him staring at us.
I completely forgot the awkward position I was in and Terry seemed lost too.

“Rehearsal is over! Hillary, come with me, now!” Mr Sebastian announced before storming off and Ace followed him right before Hillary could join them.
Ace kind of looked cool for wanting to be with his best friends during this perilous times on me Sebastian’s bad side.

Daphne looked nervous as she approached me.
“I feel bad for outing Hillary like that. I just wanted to impress mr Sebastian.” She whispered to me and I sighed.

“Don’t worry, D. The guys can handle him.” I chimed with a sm-irk.
She sighed and announced; “Let’s continue rehearsing. I will be in charge as the @$$istant director. We don’t have much time.”

A few persons murmured un-der their breath but they still got to work. I sli-pped off right before Terry could notice and I grabbed my back pack and left the stage.
I got to where Keiran was and he took my wrist leading us out.

“How did you know I was here?” I asked the first question that had been on my mind since I.never told Keiran about the pla-y.

“Oh, don’t worry. I just had a hunch that my mate was about to cheat on me.” He replied and I cringed.

I remembered Louis.
He really doesn’t know.
I withdrew my hand from his hold.

“Stop pla-ying around, Keiran. I really want to know.” I said, saddened.

“Ace wanted to see his sister rehearse.” He mutely answered.

“That’s cute.” I remarked.

“Do you really have to touch him and let him just hold you? That is not right. Why did you join this pla-y anyway? Since when did an introvert you like being out in the open?” he questioned making me take some seconds to think about my life.

“I don’t know. People change.” I mumbled. “Besides, how did you think I acted? I did great, right?”

“It would have been better if you didn’t look at him like you were in love with him.” He spat.

“I thought you didn’t believe in love.”

“I don’t but you were making it seem real…”

“That’s because I believe in it.” I cut him off.

“You are annoying, Umbrie.”

“No, I’m not. Rather, you are jealous.” I replied and he scoffed like I just said blasphemy.

“You are wrong.” He muttered.

We were at the empty hallways because everyone must have been at their various clubs except for Keiran and his friends. Why exactly were they walking around and not in their clubs…

“Don’t worry, Keiran. There’s nobody out there that wants to me. You don’t have any opponent.” I said pouting at him and with the look on his face, he’s pissed.

“Just shut up, Umbrie. Don’t say nonse-nse.” He scolded looking away from me.

“I wanted to calm you down but you sound even madder than before.” I cracked.
I pulled him to a corner so we don’t get caught by any teacher.

“What’s wrong?” He asked noticing how quiet I got.

“Louis called me on Saturday.” I revealed and his countenance didn’t quite change.

“What did he say?”

“He said the person who revealed everything about us to him is a member of our pack. I can’t seem to think of who it might be. Should we trust what he said?”

“Yes. I definitely know it’s someone that knows us well enough tipped those rogues off. Don’t worry about it, I will handle it.” He replied and I frowned.

“I didn’t tell you so you can handle it. I just told you because I didn’t want to hold it to myself. I told you so you would help me figure out who it is and also know Louis is in contact with me.” I pointed out.

“Don’t argue with me, Umbrie. It’s too dangerous. We might as well forget about it. The person would surely be figured out one day.” He tried to leave but I stopped him.

“I saved you, je-rk. We have to save others too to prevent something terrible from happening.” I stated and he smiled.
He ruffled my hair like I did to him the other day in cl@$$.

“Sure thing.”

With the look on his face, he doesn’t believe in me or trust me. It’s that look males give when a female wants to run for cl@$$ president or join the decision making team at school.

I still doesn’t let up my frown as he leaves towards the disciplinarians office probably to save Hillary’s rebelling arse.

• School was over and unfortunately, Keiran had cl@$$es. I didn’t un-derstand the feeling of disappointment I felt knowing I’d be leaving without him.
He inse-rted his hands into his leather pa-nts and let out a breath.

“Sorry, Umbrie.” He said like I was injured or something.
Great. Just great.

“Oh, it’s nothing. Just text me when you are done.” I chipped in and he rolled his eyes.

He turned around to go in but abruptly stopped. I wondered what he was looking at as I drew close and saw his mother standing at the entrance from the staircase.
It took long to process. I’ve never seen her in our school before. Never.
It’s like some sort of trance or hologram.

Until she started coming close.
“Keiran. Umbrie. I thought it would be difficult to find you but luckily, you are right here.” She said as she stopped before us.

“Good day, ma’am.” I say not because I wanted to.

“Hello, my dear. It’s so nice to see you in school, learning so you can become successful tomorrow.” She replied beaming and I had no ides if it was in insult or compliment.

“What are you doing here?” Keiran asked coldly.

“I came because I just returned from a tiring flight and I want to spend time with my son.” She said not watching his mood.

“I’m busy.” He admitted since the teacher was already in the cl@$$room waiting for him.

“But I want to have a meal with you.” His mother, Mrs Diaz said dolefully.

“Maybe another time.”

“Umbrie.” I heard Mrs Diaz call and I looked up in surprise. Me?
“I want to eat with Keiran. After everything that happened, he still wants to torture me. Do something about it.”

“Keiran…” I called a bit nervous.
He looked at me and I saw the desperation in his eyes.

‘Make her go.’ He said throu-ghthe mind link.

‘Go eat with her, Keiran. I think she really wants to be with y—’
He turned off his mind link immediately and I felt a slight wave of headache.
I’ve not really gotten used to it but he seems to be a pro.

I tou-ched my head and decided to swallow in the pain in silence.

“Please…” His mom pleaded once more.

“Don’t end up wasting my time.” Keiran growled before storming into the cl@$$room.
A smile of relief was on Mrs Diaz’s face and she looked like she had witnessed a miracle.

I looked into the cl@$$ and saw him talk to his teacher. After a short time, he came out with his school bag and they left while I followed behind.

“Have a great time.” I waved at Mrs Diaz.

“What? You are coming with us.” Keiran chipped in and I nervously ru-bbed my hands together. I hope his mother was cool with it.

“Yes. Umbrie, Join us in the car.” She remarked and I was relieved.
I was conflicted with if I really wanted to be with them with how their relationship towards each other was.

We entered the Rolls Royce Ghost EWB which had a driver and one bodyguard whom was armed as well.

As well drove, Mrs Diaz went throu-ghthe list of the best restaurants and she asks me to help her choose the one I liked. Nervously, I picked the restaurant with more of tasty food but it isn’t well rated for it’s ‘grandness’ in style and beauty.

Getting there, Keiran was the first to leave the car like he was being chased and right before the bodyguard could come open up the door. Mrs Diaz and I followed slowly.
We took table and she ordered for everyone. Her diamond wrist watch was blinding as she flung it around.
The food arrived and I couldn’t help but eat something because I was starving.

Mrs Diaz tried having a conversation with Keiran about school but he was utterly quiet and couldn’t keep it lively.
Did I forget to say I hated to be in the middle of this because of their relationship towards each other?
Well, I ended up talking more than Keiran and his mother that was supposed to have a great time with me deviated her attention to me.

We talked about — the new company they launched in Australia, a dog she’s thinking of buying for Keiran but she thinks it might end up dying fast because her son is forgetful, how she plans to renovate the house, her dream of building a rehabilitation center for teenagers.
The conversation made me see in her from a better view.

While there was silence in the table, she suddenly started breathing fast and I noticed the beads of sweat appearing on her forehead amidst the makeup.

“Are you okay, ma’am?” I asked alarmed.

“Yes. Please, excuse me.” She got up and walked towards the restroom.

“She’s not well. Let’s check on her.” I tou-ched Keiran.

“She has never been well for me. She’s crazy. Completely nuts.” He blurted.

“Christ! I’m serious, Keiran. If anything happens to her in there, you’ll feel much worse because you didn’t do anything to help!” I scolded and he rolled his eyes before getting up.

I felt weary for what I said but I didn’t think much of it as well hurried to the restroom. Keiran waited outside while I went in. I checked the stalls. There was no one in here and there was one unchecked stall left. My heart beat like a pa-rty drum as I opened it.
My eyes wide-ned on seeing her in her wolf form and lying weakly on the floor. She shifted…
How? How could she shift in a public place?!

I ran to the door of the restroom and locked it speedily.

“Keiran…. Are you there?”
