Episode 58.
I got home and told my sisters of the deal we just got,
“Still good, Chinwe said.
“How are we going to share it now? The money is poor, I said.
“You’re beginning to sound greedy, Chinwe said.
“Really? Are you taking 80k then I’ll take the 200? I asked but Chinwe didn’t say a word.
“You’re not saying anything huh? I insisted and she looked at me.
“I thought this is our business and we should treat it as one, she said.
“Oh no, you gat yours right? I asked her.
“Really? If that is so you would have let me hit my own deal with the chicken and isiewu p@rt, she said.
“I got the contract okay and I was able to get this, maybe you should go find yours, I said.
“You’re so unbelievable! Should I remind you I brou-ght the first contract and led you into it which brou-ght the rest of the contract, don’t ever forget that, she said.
“Because i started the business for you, don’t forget that too, I dropped.
“Oh is that it? Do you nee-d the capital back? Just say it and st©p beating around, excuse me, Chinwe said and went in and I heaved and saw Treasure looking at me in a way like I am one terrible person, she just shook her head and went in too.
I stood up Pacing around and felt my b©dy was h0t, I wasn’t comfortable and couldn’t explain why.
It was like it wasn’t me anymore, and everything just pisses me off easily.
I went to the fridge and got a glas-s of jui-ce to calm my nerves and didn’t know when i sle-pt off on the sofa.
I woke up the next morning and saw Chinwe shaving her eyebrows, that was when everything I said to her last night repla-yed and I felt horrible.
“Chinwe, I gently called.
“You’re awake? Good morning, she replied not looking at me.
“I’m sorry okay, I didn’t mean to say all I did, I hope you un-derstand, I said but she was quiet.
“Chinwe, I called out going to where she sat and she sighed and looked at me smiling.
“What do you really want me to say to you? Don’t worry I wont forget all you’ve done for me, and I promise I will repay every coin back that you’ve helped me with. At least i am not Benson, Chinwe said and I closed my eyes nodding my head as she mentioned that name.
‘I get it, is this your own way to pay me back huh? I asked.
“Dorothy plea-se not this morning, just go in there dress up and head to your restaurant, there’s a lot for us to do concerning Sunday, your own contract remember, Chinwe said and got up from where she sat and went in.
It was a Saturday and Treasure alre-ady left to fetch water. She c@m£ back and met Chinwe leaving,
“Okay sister you’ll meet us later at the restaurant right for the preparation? Treasure asked her.
“If I’ll be welcomed, bye, she said tou-ching her cheeks and left.
“Good morning s£nior, Treasure greeted but i just nodded and went into the room.
I stood looking at myself on the mirror and tried to un-derstand where all this mood swing is from.
I’m beginning to hurt those i love with my words without knowing, and it won’t be funny anymore if they will begin to view me as a stranger now.
My eyes went on the calendar and I saw my month has alre-ady pas-sed.
We all mark our period d@t£s on a calendar using different color of pen to differentiate our d@t£s from another, and I noticed my days has pas-sed alre-ady.
I looked at myself again tou-ching my n£¢k with my heart beating fast,
“This has never happen before, i said to myself and went into the bathroom.
I c@m£ out and did some chores and laundry before leaving the house with Treasure after eating together.
We got to the restaurant and began some preparations with 2 of my girls, while the rest covered up In the business.
“Sister is not yet here, Treasure said when it was 1pm.
“Maybe she has gone to get the turkey she booked for, I remember the man told her to come today, I said.
“She nee-d to get it today else it will be too much on us tomorrow, Blessed said and i took my phone and called up Chinwe.
She didn’t pick up after calling her thrice and I heaved,
“I think she’s busy, I said and Treasure looked at me which I took my eyes from her and concentrated on what i was doing.
Minutes later I saw Treasure ran in and my girls laughing ha-rd at her as Chinwe and Blessed carried the Turkey to the backyard.
“Like seriously, they didn’t kill it there? I asked.
“Have we ever slaughtered anything there? Or are you trying to say I should take it elsewhere? Chinwe asked back.
“No that’s not what I mean, but we have never slaughtered Turkey before, I replied.
“Well, good news is i have, Chinwe said and tied them somewhere and went in.
I just rolled my eyes and got up and went into my office.
I was feeling annoyed and i couldn’t explain why, it was best I go in so my girls won’t notice my mood, even though i wasn’t happy she will be slaughtering it at my restaurant.
I was alre-ady pla-ying music while they were talking and laughing at the yard, i wasn’t interested in it and i nee-ded rest.
Minutes later I thought I heard a guy voice, and when i checked it out it was Uche.
“Hey you’re back! Treasure said and hvgged him.
“I thought you traveled? Chinwe asked and that was when i remembered he told me he was in the village.
“But why so soon? I asked myself and attem-pted to go out, but i withdrew and watched them discussed.
“Yea i did, but I’m back. E shock you? Don’t worry we will talk about that later, he replied.
“No problem, welcome, Chinwe sakd.
‘Thanks, What are you girls having? I heard him asked Treasure.
“A contract, a commissioner birthday, Treasure replied wi-nking at him.
“Are you serious? 5 Turkey? It must be big, Uche said.
“And Pommo, Chinwe added.
“Okay is there anything I can help with? Uche asked dragging up the sleeve of his shi-t and I smiled from where i stood by the window blind looking at them.
“Yes plea-se the Turkey, I think a man should do that and not you Chinwe, Joy said.
“And who says i can’t do it? Chinwe asked.
“That means you can slaughter a cow, Blessed said.
“nop she can’t, but i know she can perfectly slaughter the turkey and prepare it well. A woman where i stay taught her that, and I’m glad she learnt fast, Uche replied.
“She’s good in it I must confess, Blessed said.
“Thank you, Chinwe said blu-shing.
“By the way where’s Dorothy? Uche asked.
“I think she went in to rest, she was out here, Blessed replied.
“Okay let me go say hi, I’ll be back, Uche said and I quic-kly sat down and pretended i was listening to music with my headphones.
“Hey, he said when he walked in and i took it off keeping a surprise look.
“You’re back? But I thought you…….. “Yes i did and I’m back, nice to see you on your feet again, he interrupted me.
“Thank you, I said.
“You’re welcome, don’t worry I know there are lot of question you want to ask, but I’ll answer all of it when we are done with the contract outside. Common lets go, he said stretching his hand to take me up and i smiled and got his hand.
“Okay let me go tell my girls to lock up for today, so all hands will be on deck,I said.
“No no let the business be ongoing. I can see Blessed, Joy, Chinwe, Treasure, you and I, that’s enough for today so let’s go, he said and i saw myself laughing.
“Like seriously you are among? I asked.
“Why not? Or you think i can’t cook huh? Don’t worry I’ll surprise you, i want to see you outside, he said.
“Okay let me do a little thing here, I’ll be out in a minute, i said and he smiled and left.
I heaved and looked throu-gh the window to see the girls very joyful, I felt i was abstract and just different from them.
I couldn’t find the other me who was so free and jovial with them, and i felt everyone was on Chinwe side now and is ma-king me sick and kind of jealous.
i shook my head and Carried my bag from my office knowing i won’t go in here again, and met them outside telling the girls to join us when once its 5pm.
While we were talking as Uche and Chinwe was dealing with the Turkey,
“Looking at this I’m so impressed. I think you girls nee-d an extension, like a building of your own where you will be free and comfortably cook more than this, Uche said and my mood suddenly changed.
“What do you think Dorothy? Uche innocently asked again not knowing where he has t©uçhed.
“We are working towards it,soon it will come up big, Chinwe covered up.
“It will be great! By so doing it many contracts will come up and you girls may go international,I’m so proud of you girls!, Uche said.
“Thank you! We even may employ you as our minister of finance, Treasure said.
“Awwwn so nice of you, Uche said and everyone laughed, but i just f0rç£d a smile and nodded as I began to feel heat inside of me and wondered what the hell is going on with me.
