My Days At Crown
School

#EPISODE_21

Actually, I guess someone has been taking
something bad for his health.

Slowly, the same six pairs of eyes turned to stare at me like I’ve also committed a murder.

What now?

He never even asked me out! I wanted to scream out. I looked up at Victor but he was just smiling. I guess he’s feeling himself.
“Hmm,” Mercy cleared her throat. “It’s nice meeting you Victor. I hope you’re coping with her because she’s a little bit n@ûghty.”
No! Seriously, what is Mercy saying? Did she believe
I’ve gotten a b©yfri£ndtoo?
Victor chuckled lightly, looking at my direction and said, ” I love every bit of her naughtiness.”
Aww, lord help me not to open my teeth. I tried to
hide my blus-h by pouting myl-ips like I don’t care.
“Oh!” Mercy said, “then I guess my cousin has no problem.”
You’re wrong dear cousin..
That boy is a beautiful problem.
A big one because he drives me nut! He drives me
crazy!
I get totally insane when he smile. Those smiles are
too beautiful, and make him stupidly handsome.

“Suzy!” I guess my name had been called for long, because Mercy’s voice was a bit louder.

“Oh, sorry. I was thinking about my as-signments.”
Hmm….

Suzy the liar!

Mercy’s eyes wi-de-ned with a smile spre-ad on herl-ips. “That as-signment must be a very big problem.”
Haha… Was she re-ading my mind.
Actually, no. It’s a very beautiful problem!

“I’m Yomi.”

“Benjamin by name.” The two introduced themselves. “I must say you both look very beautiful.” Benjamin complimented.

I trust Mercy, she doesn’t fall that easily. No matter the compliment an opposite S-x say to her, it doesn’t feel special to her. She has a s-en-se of humor too. As little as we were then in junior school, she was good at keeping secrets, but we never hide things from each other.
“Thanks,” she just mumbled, looking away. I expected her to at least smile at the guy. Back then in junior school, she would say, ‘Dad gives me any thing I asked him. Mom buys me a lot of things even before I asked her. So why do I nee-d a b©yfri£nd? Money is not my problem, and material things are something I get whenever I want to. All he would just benefit from me is to sleep with me’.” Now that she thinks Victor is my b©yfri£nd, have got so many questions to answer.
“Thank you guys,” I said. “We have to get back because Mercy’s school bus would soon leave.” I said, dragging Mercy with me. I let out a breath, dropping Mercy’s hand as we got to half way. “Sorry about that.”
“Are you sure you were really thinking about your as-signments with that happy smile that graced your face earlier.”
Happy smile!

“Was I smiling?” I asked.

“Actually, that is called blu-shing.” Mercy laughed a little.
Oh my!

She laughed at me. Definitely because of how I made my face.
“From everyone’s reaction, including you. He just claimed you that very moment as his girlfriend. It’s obvious you both like each other. But do you really want to d@t£ him?”
When I said have missed this girl, I have so many reasons. As lazy as my cousin could be, she was brilliant. I knew she didn’t believe that Victor’s confession.
“Thank God you knew,” I said shyly. “Yes I like him, but he has not even asked me out, and I don’t think he can any longer because he’s living tomorrow.”

“So he’s in ss3?”

“Yes,” I replied. “And the fair guy, Yomi, is his cousin.”
Mercy smile in a teasing way. “He’s really into you. Just look at the way he said those words. I love every bit of her naughtiness.” She mimicked Victor, and we both laughed. I missed this. She was one n@ûghty girl too, but only around her friends. She was too rich to act crazy with anyone.

I introduced her to Victoria, Temi and Debbie. They were all excited to meet a cousin of mine. Debbie was just staring at Mercy all time. May be because she was cool and very far different from me. My slimy cousin was no way compare to me. She didn’t forget to remind me of her birthday before she finally left.

Clas-ses were resumed the following day. Victor had tried for us to see, but I was too busy occu-pied with my as-signments.
I ran straight to my corner, dropped my books back into my locker and brou-ght out my lesson notes. Every Wednesday is mainl for physics, so I packed my textbook, calculator, my note, and some snacks to take since I won’t be eating lunch.
Some were still eating, while some were hanging around. I knew that once the bell is rang, no one should be found roaming around. As I walked to my clas-s, I felt many eyes watching me. Getting close to my clas-s, what I saw made me st©pped on my track.
I just have to ask him why he was here?

“Victor what are you doing here?”

Now everyone was staring.

“Because we nee-d to see.”
“Victor I’m having clas-s in the next three minutes.”
“I’m leaving tomorrow.” He said, moving away from the entrance.
I think I didn’t hear that very well, so I asked again. “What did you just say?”

“What you I just said earlier.”

Tomorrow!

“Now are you going to follow me?” I heard him asked.

“Okay.” I had no choice. He was leaving the next day. Just like that. Oh my God! What would I do? How would I cope? I couldn’t get myself.
The same way you’ve been coping.
A voice said in my head.
But I’m so much used to this guy.
“What about the graduation?” I asked.
He laughed. “You can’t expect me to stay till that time.”
So what I just said is funny?
He’s really happy to leave me right?

We both walked side by side. Of course, students were watching and definitely wanted to know where we were going. We kept on walking until we got to a corner where a Camry car was parked. We both got into the back seats and the driver drove off. He was quiet. Silent.

“So, where are we going?”

I broke the silence.

He raised his head from the phone he was pressing. “Just a regular bar I go to.”

“Bar?” I raised an inquisitive brow at him.
He shook his head smiling. “Suzy calm down. There is a restaurant there where we can catch some fun.”
I just rolled my eyes.

Better!

I couldn’t be going to club at my age.

“So do you go there alone?”

“No,” he said. “I go there with Yomi, Benjy, and some friends at home.”

It was clear to me he knew Benjamin from home. So I kept quiet about asking more questions. We finally got to the place. I really wish I knew the p@rt of Lagos he brou-ght me. The building was very big. In that same compound, there were like four buildings, with bold letters written on each building. RESTAURANT, GAME CENTER, BAR, SWIMMING.
We went forward to the restaurant building, and immediately the door opened itself, as we walked in. We took our seats at one side of the big hall. There were guys with girls each. The place was cool, and peaceful. slow music was pla-yed, and that was what we could only hear. Everyone was busy with each other. I was feeling a bit cold because of the Air Conditioner (AC) put on.

A waiter moved closer to us. “When I was about to conclude you’re a free guy, you proved me wrong. Nice meeting you beautiful. I’m Mathew,” he smiled at me.
I stared at Victor first before looking back at the tall, lean, dark guy. He smiled at me again, and I just returned a small smile at his direction. ‘I’m Suzy,” I said. He looked matured, and very obvious he was not a young guy.

“What would you like to order for?” He showed me the list of the what was available. The costs I saw almost made me gulped for air. “Why is everything here so expensive?” I couldn’t believe Victor brou-ght me here.

Is this how he spend money on girls?

✒”Tea is okay.” I chose the one that didn’t cost much.

✒”Black tea, or brown tea?” The waiter asked.

✒”Anyone,” I said.

✒”Would you like to add honey or sugar?”

✒”Sugar is okay.” I said and expected him to leave.

“Brown sugar, or white sugar?”

What!

I was getting frustrated with all the questions.
Sugar is Sugar!

“Anyone.”

“Do you want it in a small or large quantity?” He asked again, and I was f0rç£d to look at victor who was alre-ady laughing.
In fact! I don’t want again.

“Just get me water,” I said instead, and expected him to just turn and leave. Or what question would he asked about water.
Water is Water!

“Mineral water or distilled water?” I heard the guy’s voice again. With annoyance I got up to my feet, causing Victor’s laughter to increase.

“But you should know what to get me. Why all these questions?”

“We are sorry sister,” he apologized. “A glas-s of water or bottle water?” Just as he asked those questions, I finally reach the peak of my annoyance. I turned to the waiter getting more laughter from Victor.

I moved closer to the waiter. “plea-se do me a favour,” I said with no intention of screaming at how angry he made me feel.
“Just leave for now. I’m okay.” I said turning to victor who had finally got out of his seat too. Don’t know what he told the waiter, but quietly he left.
When you’ve got to show the devil is a liar.

I brou-ght out my plantain ch!ps, followed by my bottle of water.
Victor almost coll@pse to the floor as he kept on laughing.
He pointed at my ch!ps and bottle. “Did you fv¢king come with that?”

“No, I fv¢king ordered it!”
He bur-st into another fit of laughter.

“You can always order for soft drink instead of water.”
I just eyed him. “Seriously that is ru-bbish.” I hissed.
Victor laughed again. “He’s just doing his job.”
Job my foot!

I guess if I want to use the toilet, I’ll be asked either
male or female toilet?

Their mother must be a male

“They are just trying to satisfy their customers.”
I rolled my eyes at him. “I see..”

Some minutes later, we went to the game center and pla-yed some games. We won some gifts which Victor gave to me. We later moved to where lovers make hand band, br@celet and some other things. The guy ma-king the hand band told me to tell him secretly what I would love to write on the hand band I wanted to give to Victor. Slowly, I leaned forward and whispered into his ear. Victor secretly said his own too. Once the man was done I was so eager to see what Victor had written for me, but the man warned us we shouldn’t re-lease it until we were out of the place.
Back into his car, we were heading back to school.
With so much eagerness. “Hmm,” I cleared my voice. “Can I have my hand band.”

He smiled at me. “Don’t be in a hurry girl. Remind me before I leave tomorrow,” he said.

“Are you kidding! Tomorrow?”

“Definitely!” He whispered slowly, and turned away from my direction.

.•••••••••••••••

What do you expect? I couldn’t sleep well. My mind was on Victor. The band. And what he wrote on the band. I couldn’t believe he was leaving alre-ady. Just like that? Oh God! Suzy what should we do?

To be sincere, I really do not know. I kept on asking myself questions upon questions before I finally sle-pt off.
