? Book sixteen ?

? Hailey’s standpoint ?

I sang softly to the song Silvia s£nt me, I wasn’t sure who the song belong to, but I knew I liked it. I tapped my foot as I sang, going throu-gh my locker for my books. It was very early in the morning, really cold today. I wore a red coat and high faux boots, it was okay unlike what Lee wore. ‘Hey!’ I turned to yell at the person who re-moved my headphone, if it was Jet, I was re-ady to break his head but if it was Lee, another war will begin. My books dropped from my hands, my eyes wi-dening in shock. ‘Richa-rd !’

‘Hi Hailey,’ he chuckled. He was still as beautiful as I remember, even more beautiful. Faux hawk cut dirty blonde and brown hair, hazel eyes and his face that I was still wondering how it was created to be so handsome. Richie was everything I wanted in a guy but I was nothing to what he wants in a woman. It had made me hurt a lot of times just being his friend but better close than nothing.

‘Richie!’ I squealed and jumped on him, skrie-king with joy. He laughed as he held me in place, it had been months since we last saw each other. Someone started squealing and cl@pping too, obviously Lee. I pu-ll-ed away from him with a grin, right before Lee pu-ll-ed me away and hvgged him too. She’s like that with everyone.

‘Richie my second love!’ She k!$$£d his cheeks and then his forehead.

‘When did you get back?’ I asked excitedly.

‘Two days ago,’

‘Richie?’ Silvia g@sped. ‘Oh my God!’ She didn’t know, he was good at pu-lling out surprises. ‘You j£rk!’ She gave him a harsh sl@p. ‘How dare you not tell me before coming?!’

‘I thought you would have been happy!’

‘I don’t like unexpected events, reasons why I broke up with my last three b©yfri£nds. Don’t surprise me, you know that.’

‘Richie, were you expecting her to hvg you?’ I laughed. Lee laughed more, her signature mockery laugh that will make you feel like disappearing into the ground.

‘This is what I get for being a good guy,’ I took my headphone from him, smiling like the biggest fool in school. Since Iris left a week ago, it was like colours was re-moved from my life. I never knew it was possible to love a female in such a short time. I miss her so much, don’t even know what I miss about her. ‘Is it me or do you look different in a sort of way?’ Richie asked all of a sudden.

‘Me?’ I asked puzzledly. He nodded. I looked at what I was wearing, okay. I t©uçhed my face, he laughed. ‘What? Is there something on my face?’

‘You are dressed very simple and your makeup, you don’t have it on, no fancy jewelries either, are you alright?’

I hissed and rolled my eyes. ‘All those shiny things aren’t necessary anymore, I don’t feel like dressing up…’

‘You honestly st©pped since Iris arrived,’ Silvia said as a matter-of-factly.

‘I did?’

‘Yup,’ Lee popped. ‘She unconsciously changed you in a sort of way, you didn’t notice?’

‘I thought I just started last week, I had no idea.’

‘You have been like that since you bec@m£ her friend, we both have, although I will hold mine to Jonathan.’

‘Who’s Iris? Who’s Jonathan?’ Richie asked confusedly.

‘Iris is Hans’ girlfriend and Jonathan is the new pla-yer in the football team, Lee’s crush.’ Silvia blunted out.

‘Silvia!’ Lee shouted. Richie chuckled.

‘Hans has a new girl?’

‘We’ll explain later,’ I smiled.

‘Honestly Hailey, you look beautiful this way, much more gorgeous than you ever were.’ Richie admitted. I bit my bo-ttoml-ips hyly and smiled wi-der, putting my f!nger in my hair sheepishly.

‘Thank you,’

‘Ritchie!’ Richie rolled his eyes to a girl; running along the hallway with wavy brown hair, blemish free tan skin and glistering hazel brown eyes, the girl waved at Richie with a wi-de grin. ‘I’m done, can we go now?’

‘Who’s this one and why are you calling him Ritchie?’ Silvia asked coldly.

‘It’s my nickname for him, I’m Aisha Billion, you?’

‘Rich, who’s this?’ I asked, eyeing her suspiciously.

‘Oh, this is Aisha like she said, my girlfriend…’ My heart sank to my stomach, did I hear him right?

‘Your what?’ I coughed.

‘Girlfriend, we met in a vacation suite last year, had been friends since then but I finally asked her out three months ago.’

‘You have a girlfriend? All these while you had one and you didn’t tell me? Your sister Richa-rd , why?’ Silvia said with a pained expression. ‘What is she even doing here?’

‘She lives in New Jersey, at least lived there until two months ago when her family moved here. I didn’t tell you all because I wanted to keep it pri-vate until I was sure Aisha is the girl for me, I am sure now, so everyone this is Aisha,’ he wra-pped his hands around her shoulders. ‘The love of my life, Aisha these are the most special girls in my life, Silvia who is my sister, Lee the psycho and my very best friend Hailey.’

‘Nice to meet you all,’ she said shyly. I started laughing humorlessly, eyes glistening with tears.

‘You have been in a relationsh!pfor months and you didn’t even think talking was good enough? A heads up perhaps,’ I laughed. ‘This is so fv¢king amazing, dope!’

‘Hailey, I just told you, I wasn’t sure.’

‘So what if you weren’t sure? What if she wasn’t the one, would you have broken her heart just because you feel she isn’t good for you?! This is my problem with you Richa-rd , you are too secretive!’ I felt like dropping on the floor and crying my eyes out, my fifth heartbreak. He should have told me so I will re-move my mind, not keep my… Okay, I alre-ady gave up on him since last year but that didn’t mean I didn’t have a small glimmer of hope left.

‘Why are you ma-king a big deal out of it? It’s my life, not yours Hailey, you don’t get to control it like you control Hans’, don’t push it.’ Oh that was it, the motherfv¢king godmother of all its. It takes me hours to like you, but seconds to hate you, I’m a bitter devil that way and that is why mom and dad always try to make me happy to avoid that bitterness.

I sm-irked and giggled, he knows that giggle. ‘Right,’ I squ-atted, picked up my books from the floor, stood up and turned to my locker.

‘Hailey, I didn’t mean it that way,’ he tried to apologize. When I hate you, I snub you and if there is one thing I am dope at doing, it’s snubbing. I slammed my locker shut and walked out, putting my headphone back on. I could tell Lee ran after me, she un-derstood, she has to.

‘Hailey,’ she tapped my shoulder, removing the headphone with the other hand.

‘I feel like a fool,’ I sobbe-d.

‘Do you wanna build a snowman?’ She sang. I sniggered before bur-sting out in laughter.

‘You’re so stupid Lee,’

‘You ought to sing along,’

‘Never,’ I laughed. She pu-ll-ed my hand and started running, I had to run along. We ran straight to the football field, mom was standing there and yelling at the coach over something he must have done.

‘A warm hvg will make you feel better,’ she pushed me forward, urging me to go to mom. I love mom but even though dad and I quarrel most times, I feel better when hvgging him. Over all my heartbreaks, his comfort was what healed me.

‘Tell mom that I won’t be in school today, I’m going to see dad, thanks Lee.’

‘All the time,’ she smiled and k!$$£d my cheek. I chuckled and ran to the parking lot, running around the building instead of going back in. I saw Phoenix trying to uproot a plant, mom must have punished him. Ignoring his shouts, I ran fas-ter until I was at my car. Remind me to stroll next time, running is ha-rd work. How does Hans and Lee do it, geez!

I placed my hands on my car, p@n-ting heavily. ‘nee-d some water?’ I raised my head and looked to my side, a familiar looking face was grinning at me. She had small violet eyes, over waxed white skin, a little makeup and expensive clothing. Her artificial eyelashes fl@pped gently as her plastic grin made itself known. She was beautiful and I can swear I have seen her somewhere.

‘Who are you?’ I said un-der my breath. She had a long violet streak in her blonde hair to match her eyes. It cli-cked, I snapped my f!ngers. ‘Violette’s Velvet Pastry’s ambas-sador?’

‘k!ssface Cosmetic’s, pres£nt front cover of Ladies in red, model in Catherine’s Sew, Miss Beautiful and ambas-sador of Trina White’s Hair Doctor, and many more.’ She said proudly.

‘Okay, that’s nice, you school here, right?’

‘Started yesterday,’

‘Violet, right?’

‘Violet Bartholomew,’ she stretched her hand out for a handshake. I hissed and rolled my eyes.

‘Next time when you want to fake politeness and kindness, make sure your plastic smile looks more real,’ I said derisively. Her hand dropped.

‘It isn’t plastic, it’s real…’

‘Tell me that when I turn ash,’ I opened my door and sli-pped into my car. I slammed my door shut and fix my seatbelt. She was staring at me poutingly, like I would fall for that. Something about her face rang a bell, it was there but yet not easy to put a f!nger on it. Why did she look awfully familiar and not just because she is rich and famous? What is it about her that gives me goosebu-mps. One thing I knew for sure, I was going to keep an eye on Violet.

•••••••••••••••••••• Violet ••••••••••••••••••••

That annoying motherfv¢king bit-chy arsehole knob! That fv¢king sod, useless combination of turf and gras-s, minge twat! Who does she think she is talking to me in such manner! I knew she was the queen and the best way to bring down an enemy is to become their friend. With her reply, I knew I wouldn’t be able to fool her anytime soon. So far, I have accomplished fv¢k. I grumbled and cursed as I walked to my first clas-s, grinding my teeth together at interval, she better be careful before I get her out of the way. Someone bu-mped into me, I gro-an ed and looked at him, re-ady to curse him but froze.

Hans! Oh my God! It’s really him!

I stared with mouth open, I was finally seeing him for the first time, though he looked quite different than Hans… Is this Hans? ‘Can’t you apologize?’ He snapped.

‘What?’ I asked dumbly.

‘You bu-mped into me, apologize,’ he flared. This isn’t Hans, Hans is very nice.

‘I’m sorry?’ I said unsurely. He hissed and pushed me out of his way, walking off to the other hall. I kept looking at his back, he looked dirty like he had been in mud all morning.

‘Ignore him, he’s having a bad day,’ I shook my head and turned to the person, my heart fli-pped with joy, the real Hans.

‘Hi,’ I giggled. ‘I thought he was you, was shocked with his rudeness.’

He chuckled, such beautiful melody. ‘Am I that nice?’

‘Very,’ I said blu-shingly, shifting from one foot to another. Wait until Hannah hears this. ‘Hi, I’m Violet Bartholomew,’ I stretched my trembling hand to him. He started laughing. I was confuse, was my hand ugly? I had a surgery done on it to look smoother and more shinier. I looked at my hand, wasn’t it perfect enough?

‘It’s like fate has destined me to violet related people,’ he said between his laugh. Let’s forget about my hands and talk about his laugh. How can someone be so beautiful and almost perfect? I wouldn’t blame him because I’ve seen his father. This boy belongs to me, we are two sides of a coin.

‘Er… I don’t know what to say, I just resumed here so I really don’t know anyone here,’ I said sheepishly, damn my red cheeks. ‘I was hoping to find a good friend here but your sister was very mean to me and then him, did I do anything wrong?’

‘No,’ he smiled, shaking his head in amusement. ‘You won’t un-derstand, Phoenix was mean because he is upset, Hailey normally don’t like strangers no matter how alluring they are and me, I can’t do what you asked. There is only one room for a purple freak in my life, good luck finding a friend.’ He patted my head and strolled off, sauntering like the world was waiting for him to take a slow step.

Only one room? What does that mean? There is someone else he loves or what? This can’t happen!

I ran to my clas-s, wiping off my tears and controlling my sobs. Who could that one person be? Who? I walked into my first clas-s for the day and went to sit where my feet took me to. I looked to the girl at my side and tapped her. ‘Hello,’ she looked at me in annoyance, I was bothering her re-ading. She had big glas-ses, a nerd but I could tell she was really rich. ‘I’m sorry, I’m new in this school and nee-d to ask some questions.’

‘Yes, Hans Kendrick has a girlfriend, though she recently traveled out of America, he has one. They might have broken up or not, no one knows, now leave me alone.’ Many students must have asked her that.

‘That wasn’t what I was going to ask,’ I lied.

‘It’s not?’ She asked with surprise.

‘I wanted to ask if there was any study club I could join, I’m really far behind in education.’

‘Oh,’ she adjusted her glas-ses and smiled. ‘You can do that or book a pri-vate tutor, the study club was able to enlist the most brilliant students here, even the queens and kings volunteered to help us, they are that nice. You can get a tutor out of anyone you a want, we haven’t put up the sign yet but I can mark one of your choice for you,’ she whispered, stretching a book to me. The book was extremely small and adorable with ha-rd brown cover. I took the book, not that I nee-ded it for anything.

‘Lady,’ I flin-ched at the shrill voice. I looked at the person, Hadley. ‘You are in my seat, get lost.’ Why do they all hate me? Lee ought to be the friendliest.

‘Sorry,’ I stood up and moved to the chair behind the glas-ses nerd. There was no way I could get to them in such manner. I abs£nt mindedly opened the book, scrolling throu-gh the alphabetical listing of names as I drummed my f!ngers.

Who is that girlfriend? Even if they are together, I will snatch Hans before she returns… I thought.

I g@sped at the name I saw, Hans was listed! He volunteered to help dumb students, is he intelligent? Hell, I don’t care! His intelligent rate was high, freakin high. Hope isn’t lost, there is still hope. All I nee-d to do is convince the glas-ses nerd and I will have Hans to myself.

Aha! Take that Hans’ girlfriend wherever you are! Your b©yfri£ndis mine!
