EPISODE 15?

✏Suzy POV

The moment Victor walked in, Victoria started teasing his brother. “Brother Victor is getting fat o…”

Yomi who was behind Victor laughed and strode in as well. He turned to me with a n@ûghty smile displa-ying on his face. “That is when you have Suzy James in your life. You know that kind of thing? Ap@rt from the br@in, food is involved.” Yomi whined, causing everyone to laugh. Victor squee-zed himself beside me giving me a k!sson my cheek, with a pla-yful wi-nk. “Don’t mind them,” he whispered.
Victoria faked a serious look, facing her brother. “Mr. Man, you’re in my house, no gossip plea-se.” I laughed at the two. Victor intentionally pressed hisl-ips closer to my ear saying nothing just to piss Victoria off again. I couldn’t help laughing, as Yomi laughed too.

“Don’t mind him, he enjoys pissing me off.” Victoria walked towards her kitchen. That gave me the time to greet Yomi well, as I got to study him. Been long I saw him, and so much has changed about him physically. From his perfectly shaved beard, to his weight. It was very obvious he had added some weight, and even looked more taller to me. I compared Victor’s beard with his, and it was just so different. I realized Victor left his beard growing so much that he didn’t shave it. As much as I like it, it shouldn’t outgrown.

Victor asked of his children, and I pointed to the room where they la-id on the be-d slee-ping like someone who had gone to clear the whole farm, or cut down trees. It was unusual of them slee-ping in the afternoon, but I so much love the fact that they couldn’t disturb me or anyone when slee-ping. Victoria walked back to the dinning table. “That reminds me,” she turned to her brother after dropping the plates she brou-ght to the table. “How are we going to celebr@te Dad’s seventieth birthday?”
Victor shrugged. I haven’t heard any news about him and his Dad, so I really do not know how they would go about it. I’ve been meaning to raise the issue, but my mind was always drifting away from it. That reminded me of Emmanuel and Emmanuella’s birthday. It was closer, and I knew very soon, they would start singing it for Victor and I.
Victor coughed. He coughed again, trying to calm himself down to reply his sister. I ru-bbe-d his back, pushing my hand up and down to comfort him.

Don’t take too much of cold drinks ! No! He would never listen. That was the result.

He finally spoke up. “Mom called. I’m meeting with him tomorrow,” he quic-kly announced. Victoria smiled cheerfully. She was happy the issue between her Dad and her brother was finally going to be settled. I felt good for having hear that too hoping it would turn out well. “I love you.” Victoria said to her brother pla-yfully, throwing him a k!ss.

Victor did his eyes somehow to Yomi, which made Yomi laugh, but I didn’t get what he was trying to communicate with his cousin. Yomi turned to Victoria. “Woman, be careful plea-se. Don’t cause trouble for us o… Suzy might not recognize you as Victoria o.” The pla-yful Yomi added his own, causing me to bur-st into laughter, and immediately everyone joined me as well. Victoria tried to compose a s£ntence, still laughing. “You this boy, when are you going to change?”
Yomi and Victor laughed at the same time. “If my wife should hear that, she will flog you out of my house.” Yomi said laughing. “You want to compare my performance with that of a boy?”

“You didn’t tell her how the race would be?” Victor quic-kly added his own. The two were enjoying teasing Victoria, and I felt sorry for my friend, but all the same, it was fun, and everyone was enjoying the show.

A grin appeared on Yomi’s face, as he turned to Victoria. “Have you heard of kaba kaba race?”

Everyone laughed including me.

Which one is kaba kaba race now!

Yomi will not kill someb©dy.

Everyone was laughing as those two kept on teasing each other. I realized how much I missed Yomi and the grammar queen, Temi. Those two were always giving us a little drama to make us laugh. And as little as it was, their drama was so interesting to watch. I wish we were still in secondary school, but no! Things had changed, and everyone had moved on. After every gist, and the fun, we would all go back to where we belong. Our family.
Victoria finally escaped back to the kitchen, while Yomi stood up to receive a call. Victor took the opportunity and turned to me with a n@ûghty grin. “This is the third time today, that a young and beautiful woman will say ‘I love you’ to me.” I knew he was just teasing, so i just rolled my eyes trying to suppress my smile. “Well, I’m sure your reply was I hate you too. ”
He chuckled silently, and hissed slowly. “That’s not the deal jhoor. I want to go out with one of them, and enjoy fresh blood.”
“And what about the one you have at home?”

He laughed before talking. “That one… That one will just be tempting someone… And is not like the blood is fresh o.”
I laughed and hit him. “After you have turned the fresh blood into water. Well, Mr. Man, Jesus has turned it into fresh wine for you, and that is how you will keep taking it for the rest of your life. Or else, I will find Mr. Sola myself and offer him the wine. In fact some guys that didn’t taste the fresh wine in the bible will taste it on earth.”

Victor laughed, and threw his head back. He couldn’t control himself, and had to get up. He cl@pped his hands laughing. “So someone cannot pl@ywith this girl at all!”
I eyed him, smiling as well. Men! That’s how they use style to get information from you to know how you would react to a thing when you find out, or to see your reaction to what they are about to try or have tried. Either pla-yfully, or jokingly, there is always more to whatever they say. But as a woman, we wouldn’t let insecurity take the place of prayers. We don’t know what happens at their place of work or when they are hanging out. We will hold on to the prayers that has gone ahead, because a wise woman is meant to build her home and not scatter it.

“Dinner is re-ady everyone!” Victoria announced after going in and out of the kitchen many times to set the table and get everything re-ady. “Let me wake those children up,” she left immediately.

“Wow! Full house indeed!” Fred greeted everyone as he walked in throu-gh the entrance, dropping his jacket and suitcase. “My in-laws, my in-laws…” He took his seat at the dinning table, asking for his wife, Victoria, who c@m£ back with all the children.

“My Daddy!” It was Emmanuella who saw her Dad first, and ran to him for a big hvg. Emmanuel on the other hand just wra-pped himself around me, trying to sleep back, but when he heard Emmanuella shouted Daddy, he raised his head up. “Daddy is that you?” Everyone laughed.

“Ahhh! Even with junior on the way, they are still acting this way.” Victoria commented. “In few weeks time, Mommy will not have time for all these again.” She finally took her seat, and started eating.

“Less I forget,” Victor dropped the fish he was about to put inside his mouth, having the fork hit the flat plate ha-rd . “Sorry,” he said. “How close are you? So I can know how to get myself prepared for Dad’s birthday?” He asked his sister. I realized Victoria was very close, and Victor might ended up planning for the p@rty alone.
“In three weeks time,” Victoria said slowly. “Don’t worry, I will help in ordering gifts and other things online. I will be helpful,” she promised.

“Congrats to you little cousin.” Yomi squee-zed her hand because she was beside him. Fred gave his wife a warm, and beautiful smile. My heart felt really happy for her, and I gave her quic-k wi-nk, having her smile wi-de-ned.

“We can’t wait…” Victor added. After that, everyone faced down, enjoying the sweet porridge.

✔✔✔
On our way back home, the drive was slow as both Victor and Yomi were busy talking about some businesses, while Emmanuella and Emmanuel sprawled beside me on the back seat, enjoying their sleep again for the second time. It was late at night, and I couldn’t wait to rest my back on the be-d too. It was a long day, filled with fun, and excitement.
“Honey plea-se st©p for us at the pharmacy,” I said, as Yomi got down out of the car saying is goodbye to us. I realized not only Victor had a cough, but the children as well. He st©pped like I told him, and I got them a coflin, which works really well for cough. The two children close to me, shifted constantly not comfortable with the space.

I moved Emmanuel’s b©dy when I saw that he was about to fall. “Don’t love my Mommy jhoor. Is only my Daddy that can love my Mommy.” Emmanuel muttered during his sleep, causing Victor to turn back with a smile on his face, while I laughed as quietly as I could.

“I will tell my Mommy you like her cake. She will give me ten tomorrow. But don’t love my Mommy okay.” This time, Victor and I bur-st into laughter, causing Emmanuel who shifted in his position to st©p.
“Is like some people want to close down your shop. Which one is ten?” Victor chuckled as he drove into our compound.
“Welcome sir! Welcome sir!” Mr. Kasali, the new gateman we just got, greeted, and greeted till we got down out the car.

“Welcome sir!”

“Welcome ma!”

“Welcome my Oga!”

“Madam welcome!”

I couldn’t help but smile. “Mr. Kasali! You too welcome,” I joked, and he laughed. “Madam o! You too welcome,” he repeated what I said, laughing at me. Victor who c@m£ out of the car carrying Emmanuella sh0t Mr. Kasali a dead look, and he immediately kept his mouth shut. He instructed Mr. Kasali to carry Emmanuel, while he locked the car.

I immediately went ahead of them to get the door opened. Mr. Kasali left, and Victor did the rest of the work, by carrying them to their rooms. I changed their uniforms and helped them into their pyjamas, leaving immediately to our room. Dream land was calling me, and I couldn’t wait to start the journey. I joined Victor who was alre-ady in the bathroom, and we both have our bath together.

Been long we both bath together, and I really missed it. My aim was to get into the bathroom, bath, and get on the be-d to sleep. But no! Instead, we both started gisting how our day went. He later confessed about a young lady giving him signals at his place of work.

“What did you now do instead?” I asked him.

He laughed. “Sister, I would have loved to, but anytime I step out, I remember having one fine girl at home,” he tea-sed, and I just rolled my eyes. He laughed at me, and turned his back at me to brush his teeth. I looked at him, and I wanted to doubt him, but I couldn’t, because he was doing all he could to keep the trust we have for each other. He was not perfect, but he kept doing all his best to keep his home. To keep his marriage.
I wish married men would always have that at the back of their mind, that there is always a woman waiting back on them at home. That they can’t just misbehave. That they can’t just ruin the family they’ve built together because of a disgraceful plea-sure. That they can’t just throw away the trust she has for their marriage. Because the moment the trust is gone, it will be so ha-rd to resto-re. It will cause a lot of damage, it will destroy homes, problems will arise, insecurities will set in, but only few women who have the heart of forgiving can still go on, forgiving all he’s done, but not forgetting how he hurt them, but hoping to see him put in his best again. Because…

Marriage is all about forgiving, and staying strong
no matter what.
Both p@rtners must learn to forgive.

As we kept on gisting, I also told him about one young man who was always getting cake from our shop. He would always come with a rose flower, and I thought it was a act of pla-y, or just being nice, until he confessed his feelings for me, and was re-ady to marry me and my baby. Victor laughed as I gisted him more about my toasters. He looked at me and couldn’t believe it.
“Are you sure you always have your ring on?” He asked, still laughing, unable to suppress his smile. I just smiled happy for bringing out the little boy in him as he laughed. He doesn’t look thirty seven. He was just as young as I married him years back. Some men can be so crazy, desperate, and never mind whether you’re married or not. That was just the point. They don’t care.
After so much talk, and fun we had together, I was no longer feeling sleepy. I reminded him about shaving his beard, and we both stepped out of the bathroom the moment we were done. I found a very thin night go-wn, because I wasn’t comfortable anymore wearing my normal night go-wn to be-d. I yawned, and sleep was back again.

Victor sat on the be-d with his l@pt©p when I expected him to lie down, and sleep as well. “Working again?”

He shook his head. “No. Just want to watch one of the movies I downloaded.” I peeped, and I half sat on the be-d as he checked the movie he was planning to watch. Suddenly, my eyes saw a movie something had been meaning to watch again. “Is that not titanic?” I quic-kly asked before he could scroll it away.
He nodded, and I screamed. I actually told him I would love to watch the movie again, but I never knew he would take it serious. “Let’s watch it,” I quic-kly added. He raised his head, and looked at me. “That’s not what I want to watch,” he said dryly, regretting he downloaded the movie.

“plea-se now…let’s watch that one,” I begged, giving him my puppy look, and he just shook his head. “You should be slee-ping by now,” he stated, cl!çk!ng on the movie. It started, and I found myself enjoying it. I was sure Victor wasn’t watching, because he picked up his phone instead. I smiled, laughed, and at some point, I cried with people in the movie.

As much I wanted to finish watching the movie, I couldn’t, because at a point, I started dozing off. If Victor had prayed, then his prayer had worked. I rested on Victor’s shoulder, deceiving myself as I turned my eyes to open and close exercise in physical and health education. I felt my back hit the be-d, as I pu-ll-ed away the cover from my b©dy, feeling better with my thin night go-wn alone.
