CHAPTER FIFTY THREE
“What?…..hahahaha..” Gabrielle burst into ripples of laughter.
“You can’t be serious right?” How could her mom make such expensive joke huh?
There’s absolutely no way she’s pregnant.
She’d been taking contraceptive pills so there was no way she was pregnant.
“Oh hunny It’s not something I wanna joke about. Didn’t you noticed the little changes in your body?” Mrs Monica was really happy.
She was gonna be a grandmother soon.
“But I’m okay? Stop getting the wrong ideas.” Gabrielle was to nervous to believe anything.
de-ep down she was wishing it was really true, she really wanted Xavier to have a family to hurry home to.
She doesn’t un-derstand the weird feelings she was feeling. She doesn’t wanna get her hopes high and it turns out to be false.
“You know what let’s not get the wrong ideas I’ll be right bac, go upstairs and wait for me..” Mrs Monica ran off before she could disagree.
“Stop giving me false.” Gabby indeed have been late by two weeks but she didn’t think too much about it.
She placed her palm on her tummy and sigh.
“Am I gonna be a mother?” She mumbled un-der her breath and stood up after some time and went upstairs.
Sat down by the vanity table anxiously waiting for her mom who probably went to get a pregnancy test kit.
After what seem like forever Mrs Monica came back with a test kit in her hand.
“Here you can go test it in the bathroom and see for yourself.” The happiness in her mom’s eyes made it impossible for her to decline. With a defeated sigh she took the kit and walked towards the bathroom nervously.
She was nervous of what the answer might be. What if it turns out to be true? Will he be happy about this news?
Gabby’s thoughts were all over the place she doesn’t know what to think anymore.
She wished she could talk to Xavier right now.
After performing the test Gabby couldn’t even stare at the result and brou-ght to her mom for she was really nervous to even look at it.
Gabby closed her eyes and showed it to her mom.
“Negative or positive?” She tried not to sound nervous as she showed to her mom.
She waited but got no answer from her mom and when she couldn’t keep her eyes closed anymore she opened it only to see her mom in tears.
Gabby began to Panic and rushed over to her side.
“What’s wrong mom why-”
“You’re really pregnant hunny… I’m so happy I don’t know how to express my happiness.” Mrs Monica smiled amidst tears.
She was gonna be a grandmother for the first time ever and she feeling giddy up.
Gabby’s world seem to stop moving as she tried to process the news over and over again.
She instinctively looked at the test kit in her hand and saw the two red lines with her very own eyes.
She was really pregnant with Xavier’s baby. She didn’t know how to react to this news for she was really excited and also sad.
She was happy to a point she began crying also.
“I’m pregnant mom… I’m gonna be a mother soon.” Gabby was unable to believe this.
Repeatedly said while shedding tears of Joy.
“You have to take good care of your body, I’m gonna get you some really nice tonic.. you have to be healthy for your baby.” Mrs Monica held onto Gabrielle in arms while Gabrielle seemed lost in her thoughts.
“What if I’m not mom? What if this test isn’t true? We should conduct a hospital test first to be sure.” Gabby was in total denial and Mrs Monica couldn’t blame her.
“I don’t nee-d any test to tell you’re pregnant my dear. You nee-d to rest more often and avoid getting worked up to have a healthy baby.” Mrs Monica was grinning from ear to ear.
“Don’t you think you’re over reacting?” Gabby smiled softly and unconsciously placed her hand on her tummy.
She imagined Xavier doing the same.
“I’ll be right back okay?” Mrs Monica left again earning another sigh from Gabby.
Her attention was drawned to her phone on the bedside drawer.
She hurried over and picked it up without staring at the screen for she was too excited to.
“Xavier?” She called out his name but frown when she heard another voice.
“I’m sorry ma’am but Lord Xavier got into accident and is in a vegetative state right now” Gabby lost her grip on her phone and it fell to the ground.
“No!”
CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR
“Where’s he?” Gabby ran into the hospital ba-refoot.
When secretary George called her she didn’t wait to hear the details and ran downstairs without informing her mom and drove herself down the hospital.
“Where’s my husband!” Gabby screamed pas-s the receptionist and ran into the elevator to the top floor.
The elevator opened up on the VVIP floor and she found Secretary George pacing back and forth with a distressed look on his face.
“Where is he? Where’s my husband!!” She ran towards George and grabbed him by his collar.
“Calm down please.” George tried so ha-rd to obey his boss’s request of not informing the madam of his accident but he just couldn’t knowing the young miss would be worried sick.
“You’re telling me to calm down? How can I relax when my husband is in danger!!” Hot tears rolled down her cheeks as She hit George on the che-st repeatedly.
He let her do that if that’s gonna make her feel better.
“He’s in there.” George pointed at the ward behind her and she let go of him and ran into the ward without waiting to hear more.
Inside the ward was Xavier with a thick bandage around his head and his left arm seem to be broken as he layed there peacefully.
Gabrielle almost broke down in tears at the sight of her husband.
His face looked lifeless and was covered with bruises and his li-ps were pale with a tiny cut on it.
She slowly dragged her cold feet to his side and took his hand in her shaky ones.
“How dare you try to hide this from me huh? Do you wanna worry me to death?” Gabrielle smiled amidst tears.
The only sound she could hear was the beeping sound of the machine in his ward.
Gabrielle knew Xavier to be the strongest person she has ever met and seeing him sleeping like this broke her heart into tiny pieces.
“I know you’re strong my love I don’t believe anything they’re saying I know you’re gonna come back to me.. baby I don’t think I can hold on without you.” Gabrielle brou-ght his hand to her li-ps and planted a ki-ss on his while her tears kept flowing, staining his palm in the process.
Her hands were shaking and she couldn’t pull herself together no matter how much she wanted to.
“Can you please open your eyes and tease me like you use to.. I miss you so much.” Gabrielle’s shoulder shook as she stro-ke his face with her thumb.
Just when she thought she was gonna be happy with him and this happened.
Secretary George stayed beside the door while listening to the young miss cry.
His heart broke as he listened to her talk to the boss.
They had finished the business on the other side and the master was eager to come back to his wife so they left the moment he finished everything.
They had just left the airport when a trailer collided with their car.
He was lucky to have sustained a few injury and a broken shoulder but the master wasn’t lucky enough.
Once they arrived at the hospital he opened his eyes and told Secretary George not to inform his wife about this and not long after telling him this he sli-pped into coma with no hopes of waking up soon.
It’s been a week since the accident and he couldn’t keep quiet anymore knowing fully well the young miss was gonna be worried sick so he made up his mind to disobey his boss and inform the young miss.
The door to the ward opened and Gabby stepped out with dropped shoulders.
“Tell me everything.” Her voice was void of any emotion making him shiver slightly.
He had no choice to but explain everything to her details by details.
“Did you have the truck driver investigated?” Gabby was sure it wasn’t a coincidence for the timing of the accident was too perfect.
“Yes I did and it confirmed that it was drunk driving. I also suppressed all the news about the incident so no one knows about it.”
“I don’t believe it’s drunk driving.”
