💐Chapter 36 & 37💐

UNEDITED!!!

The Next Day…. Saturday.

The ray of the sun from the window that pierced throu-gh the blue colored curtains shone brightly into the room thereby waking Cindy up.

She found herself on Sam’s che-st. She raised up her head from his che-st and found him slee-ping peacefully like a new born baby.

Cindy’sl-ips curved into a cute smile as she stared continuously at him.

She could remember vividly last night. She had told Samuel to sleep over and not leave her alone. She had also told Samuel to continue c@rÂŁss!ngher stomach and she’d so much enjoyed the s-en-sations it gave to her and she’d sle-pt off unknowingly.

She stood up and walked to the bathroom to rinse her face.

She was rinsing her face when she remembered the issue at hand again.

Her face fell and worries took over her face and heart.

**

Samuel on the other hand woke up yawning lightly. He looked around for any sign of Cindy but saw none.

He sat up from the be-d and reminisced on the matter on ground. – his problems and Cindy’s.

He stretched his hand to the be-dside and took his phone. He met his mum’s calls. He had alre-ady called Mrs Veronica last night when Cindy was asleep.

He told her all is well that she’s in Ellen’s place. He didn’t tell her about the pregnancy issue.

In the next two Saturdays, Cindy would be a married woman. He smiled at the thought.

Cindy c@mÂŁ out slowly outta the bathroom with a face towel.

“Good morning princess.” Samuel said with a wi-nk as he rose to his full height and walked to her.

“Morning dear. thanks for last night.” She answered with a little smile.

“You are welcome.” He said as he got to where she is.

“Thanks for staying with me.” She added.

“Anything for you babe.” He said.

He pe-cked her cheeks before k!ss!ngher forehead.

“You’re not even scare of Emmanuel seeing you k!ss!ngme.” She joked.

“And what if he saw me? It’s not as if I’m k!ss!ngyourl-ips.” Samuel said

“Is it until you k!$$ÂŁd myl-ips? k!ssis k!ssno matter where it’s been placed.” she said staring at him.

He’s quite taller than her.

“Then…let me try k!ss!ngyou on yourl-ips.” he said bending down to her height. His face brou-ght forward.

“Don’t be n@Ă»ghty.” Cindy rolled her eyes and walked away from him.

Samuel let out a laugh.

“Are you scared? Or do you think I’m gonna k!ssyou for real? You are thinking naughtily.” He asked amidst laughter.

“St©p talking about k!ss. It’s too early for that.” Cindy said with a smile.

“No. It’s not too early so far it’s you I’m talking about it with.”

Cindy made a funny face as she opened the door and went out.

Samuel smiled and followed her.

They got downstairs and met Ellen in the dining.

“Girlfriend.” Cindy said as she walked closer to Ellen and hvgged her.

Ellen hvgged her back too with joy.

“Good morning.” Ellen said.

“Thanks Ellen for last night.” Cindy said.

“Good to see you smile. You scared the hell out of me last night. All thanks to Samuel though.” Ellen said smiling.

“Yeah. He tried a lot. Thanks for calling him.” Cindy replied.

“You are welcome girl.” Ellen said and they both walked to the living room.

“Morning Samuel.” Ellen greeted.

“Ellen, good morning.” Samuel answered.

They both sat down.

“Thanks for helping Cindy out.” Ellen said.

“oh..that’s nothing really.” He smiled.

“Breakfast is re-ady.” Ellen said.

“I’m famished.” Cindy said.

“I gotta leave now girls. ” Samuel said.

“Why?” They both asked at a time.

“Nothing. Cindy let’s meet in the hospital in the next two hours.” Samuel said.

“Oh…alright then.” Cindy said.

“Bye Ellen. Take care Cindy.” Samuel said a he stood up to leave.

He left.

“Ellen…what if…? Cindy started but Ellen was quic-k to interrupt her.

“What if nothing. Don’t think negatively. okay?’ Ellen said.

“Alright then..” Cindy said slowly.

“Come for breakfast.”

“Get me a toothbrush first.” Cindy said.

Ellen nodded and left.

Cindy sighed and ru-bbe-d her tummy.

“Is there something here for real?” She asked herself.

***

“Emmanuel… Tell me what happened.’ Mrs Jenny said.

She has been asking him what happened for the past one hour but all he does is to sigh.

Dammie had told her how he’s acting weird. And she has can down to his house early this morning.

Emmanuel looked away with the thoughts of Cindy in his head.

“Mum…ask him maybe Cindy isn’t pregnant.” Dammie ch!pped in.

Mrs Jenny glared at her and she kept quiet.

“Emmanuel, who do you wanna talk to if not me? I’m your mother, remember?’ Mrs Jenny said.

Emmanuel sighed heavily before turning his gaze to his mother.

With a teary eyes he spoke.

“Mum….Cindy is pregnant!” He said.

“What?” Mrs Jenny exclaimed loudly.

“What the fvÂąk!” Dammie said with a wow face.

“I knew it. Mum, brother, if you’d listen to me, I knew who is responsible for the pregnancy.” Dammie said..

“Who?” They both asked.

“When I said Cindy is a green snake un-der the green gras-s, you thought I’m joking, right? my boss owns the pregnancy.” Dammie said rolling her eyes.

“How?” Mrs Jenny asked while Emmanuel just watched.

“Cindy’s pictures is all over his phone and office. I’m sure it’d be in his room as well. His friend c@mÂŁ to his office weeks back saying they’re celebr@ting my boss’s wife ‘ cause she’s pregnant. I was the one that got them food and drinks that fateful day. My mind went to Cindy immediately my boss friend said that.” Dammie explained.

The room fell into silence.

“Mum…don’t believe her. She talks like a dummy sometimes. Where would Cindy met your boss?” Emmanuel asked.

*Fine. He’s Cindy’s pastor son. The church Cindy and her parents attend, my boss is the pastor’s son.” Dammie said.

“I guess…there’s a s-en-se in what she said. Emmanuel think about it. Besides, you told me you’ve never t©uçh her…think very well, is there a day you both do the do?” Mrs Jenny asked.

“No mum. I’ve always respected Cindy and her b©dy. I’ve never f0rç£d her to do such. I respect her decision.” Emmanuel said.

“Hmm…this is serious.” Mrs Jenny said.

“More serious mum. I can’t believe it. A pregnant vir-gin.” Dammie commented.

“Shut up.’ Emmanuel snapped.

“Calm down. Don’t vent your anger at me. I’m not your pregnant fiancee.” Dammie said glaring at him.

“Emmanuel…do you still love Cindy despite her being pregnant for the unknown.” Mrs Jenny asked.

“Mum…truthfully, I love her and I’d continue to love her. The fact that she’s pregnant is what’s putting me off. I can’t just come to un-derstand that Cindy of all people can cheat on me by slee-ping with another guy. Even if she’s feeling or having the urge to have S-x as expected of a long time vir-gin…she’d have come to me. At least, it’d be my baby she’d be carrying.” Emmanuel lamented.

“Calm down son. Do you still wanna marry her?” Mrs Jenny asked .

Emmanuel stared at her with the question still ringing in his head.

DO YOU STILL WANNA MARRY HER?

He kept staring at his mum not saying a word. His mother too stared back at him.

****

“Good morning son.” Mrs Sophia greeted immediately Samuel got into the living room.

“Mum” he said walking to her where she’s seated.

He pe-cked her cheek.

“Welcome. Where did you sle-pt?” She asked.

“Doesn’t matter where I sle-pt. Where’s that bit-ch?” He asked.

“Is she still in my house?” He added.

“No. She left just this morning. Samuel, you could have just have mercy on her. At least, give her some money to start a new life.” Mrs Sophia said.

“Mum…the monthly money she didn’t work for and that i paid her unfailingly is enough to take care of her till eternity but she squandered it all on some silly secrets which I eventually got to know about. Mum, if I give a penny she’d think I will forgive her soon but till eternity, she’d be nothing but a stranger to me.” Samuel said.

“just like your father.” Mrs Sophia said.

“Yeah. that’s for you to know and be sure I’m not a bastard.” Samuel smiled.

“How’s Cindy?” She asked.

“Yeah. She’s good. it’s because of Cindy I sle-pt out last night.” He said.

“p@rt of what Alice complained to me. She told me you spend more time with Cindy more than you spend with her at home.*

“That’s because, Cindy deserve better.” Samuel said.

“She’s getting married. Will her husband approve of your friendsh!pwith you again?”

“That’s never gonna happen. I and Cindy will be friends till eternity. So much love I got for that lady.” Samuel smiled.

“Samuel, you ain’t getting any more younger. You nee-d to give me a grandchild.” Mrs Sophia said.

“Don’t worry mum. Imma give you a grandchild soon.”

“How soon?”

“Very soon.” He win-ked.

“When are you leaving?” He added.

“Are you chasing me out?” She asked.

“No. Just asking.”

“Today, I’m leaving today.. I c@mÂŁ ’cause of Alice. she called me herself to talk to you on her behalf.”

“Oh…okay. I’m going somewhere. Heritage will drop you home with the other car.” He said going upstairs.

“Won’t you take breakfast?” She asked.

“No. I’m fine.” He answered.

“I’m pitying you. How’d be eating now that you’ve bec@mÂŁ a bachelor?” Mrs Sophia asked.

‘Worry less mum. Lots of restaurant are out there.” He said.

“Samuel…?”

“Don’t worry about me mum. I’m off to the bathroom.” He said and left.

******

“Oh my Cindy!” Mrs Veronica exclaimed.

“Mum…” Cindy called.

“Where’s dad?” She added.

“He went out early today to see a client.” Mrs Veronica answered.

“What happened to you? You got me worried. How’s the test?”

“Nothing happened mom. Sorry, I got you worried. The test was fine.” She answered.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yes mum. I’m going to the hospital. I gotta get re-ady now.” She said.

“Hospital? To do what?”

“Uhm..the thing is. .I..well. I’m going with Samuel. We have something to do there.” She stuttered.

“Cindy…you are stuttering. Are you lying to me?”

“No mum.” She answered b!tt!g her lowerl-ips.

“Okay.” mrs veronica said staring suspiciously at her.

To avoid another question, Cindy quic-kly left her mother’s side and went to her room.

*****

The sound coming from the entrance door woke George up. He yawned heavily and ru-bbe-d his eyes. His eyes wi-de-ned as he saw the time on the wall clock in the sitting room.

He sle-pt off unknowingly in the sitting room when Dammie left.

He staggered to the door, he unlocked and opened it.

His eyes wi-de-ned and shock was written all over his face. He closed the door and opened it again to be sure he’s seeing the right person.

“Alice…?” He called.

Alice said no word as she dragged her leather boxes behind her as she entered the sitting room.

George said no word as he just stared at her nonst©p.

Guilt covered his heart as he watched Alice walked inside.

He closed the door and walked fully inside.

He sat opposite her and looked at her more closely. Alice said no word too as she just closed her eyes in thought.

***

“Just be calm and have a positive mindset.” Samuel said when he pu-ll-ed up in the hospital parking lots.

Cindy nodded and muttered a ‘thank you.’

They both alighted from the car and they walked hand in hand into the hospital.

“Hi. Doctor Samuel. You ain’t supposed to come to work today.” Lizzy said as she approached them with smiles just when they were about entering the hospital.

“We are actually two walking. Why greet only me?” Samuel asked.

Lizzy smile vanished as she turned her gaze to Cindy.

“Hi.” She muttered dryly.

Cindy gave no response.

“I’ll be waiting for you in my office. When you’re done here, you can come for me there.” Cindy said as she re-moved her hand from Samuel’s grip and walked away.

“Wait up..” He said but Cindy didn’t st©pped a bit.

“Excuse me.” Samuel said and made to walk away.

“Wait plea-se…” Lizzy said.

“What?” He questioned.

“Can you plea-se be my friend just like you’re friend with the lady that just left?” She pleaded with a pity face.

“I’m not fighting with you, am I? And mind you, I can’t be friend with you if you’d be an enemy to my princess.” Samuel said.

“Princess? Who’s your princess?” She asked.

“Cindy.” He said.

“What? How…?” She stammered not knowing what to say.

“Take care nurse Lizzy.” Samuel said and left.

Samuel walked into Cindy’s office. He saw her standing by the window side staring outside.

He gently closes the door and walked to her.

“You are done?” Her voice st©pped his steps.

“Cindy…come on don’t misun-derstand this whole thing.” Samuel said.

“Of course. I’m not misun-derstanding. It’s good you are ma-king new friend so quic-k.” She said still not turning to look at him.

“Don’t be like this babe. I’m not ma-king new friend.” He said…

“Yeah. you are right.” she said and sighed leaving the window.

“Cindy, st©p being dramatic.” Samuel said.

“Can we go to the lab, now?” She asked not looking at him.

“Yeah.” He answered looking at her.

“Good.” She said and made to leave but Samuel was quic-k to st©p her by wra-pping his hand around her w@!st.

“Let me go.” She said trying so ha-rd not to melt into Samuel’s t©uçh.

“No. I’m not letting you go. Tell me you’re not mad at me.” He said placing his head on her shoulder with his cheek brushing hers.

Cindy couldn’t help but melt at his close contact of his b©dy to hers. She’s feeling different unexplained emotions due to the closÂŁness of their b©dy.

“Let…let me go.” She couldn’t find her voice.

“Tell me you ain’t mad at me.” He repeated pu-lling her more closer to himself.

“Sam…I…I ain’t mad at you.” She managed to say.

Samuel smiled and made her turned to face her.

“Thanks. I love you.” He smiled and win-ked before hvgging her.

He pu-ll-ed back from the hvg and k!$$ÂŁd her forehead.

“Your wife?” She asked.

“She’s left.” he answered as he held her hand walking to the door.

“You really sÂŁnt her packing? It’s not good enough.” Cindy said as they both walked down the hallway to the lab.

“I did the right thing.” Samuel said.

*but…” Cindy said but was interrupted.

“No more word about Alice. Don’t make me angry.” Samuel said as he ti-ght£ñed his grip on her hand.

Cindy said nothing as they continued walking. She’s gonna ask him about it later.

****

They got to the lab after some minutes and met the lab technician.

“Doctor Samuel. Doctor Cindy. Welcome ” she greeted.

“Thanks.” They both answered.

Samuel thought of a way to get her out of the laboratory and also, so she won’t get to know about their mission here.

“can you plea-se excuse us? We got something to do here. But it’s pri-vate.” He said calmly.

“Sure, why not? You both ain’t strangers to me and besides, you both are the best here.” She said leaving the lab.
.
They smiled and appreciated her. They closed the door behind her and breathed out.

‘we are here Cindy. There’d be no problem. Take a seat while I do the nee-dful.” He said to her.

She nodded and sat on one if the stool.

Samuel started the processes in earnest.

****

“we can’t stay in silent like this Alice. Say something.” Goerge spoke up after minutes of silence.

“Good you’ve been able to satisfy your selfishness. Now you’ve chased me out of my matrimonial home.” Alice said.

“Sorry Alice but you did wrong too by listening to my parents threat.” George said.

“Does that warrant the fact that you chased me out of Samuel’s house?” Alice asked tearfully.

“I know I was being selfish. I’m sorry, can we make it work again?” He asked.

“You must be stupid for spitting out that nons-en-se. Make what work again?” She asked.

“Our relationsh!p. I don’t care whether you would give birth or not….all I want is you.” George said pleadingly
.
“You must be mad. And you must be sick. Are you out of your s-en-ses? Are you tryna ma-king jest of me now? You made me what I am today. Now, you’re begging me. Do you think I can ever forgive you?” Alice thun-dered with tears.

“I’m sorry. Do whatever you want with me. I’d gladly take any punishment.” George said on his knees.

“Really? What punishment would I give to you when you made me childless? Okay…the punishment is never in your life would you talk about us ma-king our relationsh!pwork again and I hate you and I’d forever hate you. Stupid fellow.” Alice spat and left the living room.

George stood up and sat down feeling so dejected.

“What do I do to make her forgive me?” He thought out loudly.

****

“Do you still wanna marry Cindy?” Mrs Sophia repeated.

Emmanuel took a de-ep breath and spoke up finally.

“I love her and I’m gonna marry her no matter what it takes or happen. Either she’s pregnant or not, I’m gonna marry her. She’s my life…how do you expect me to live life without my life? She’s all I’ve gotten. I’m not gonna leave her, not this time of trial. This is to weigh the kind of love I have for her and the love we have for each other.” Emmanuel said with confidence.

“What do you mean marry her?” Dammie asked wondering if her brother’s been enchanted.

Mrs Jenny smiled and went her son. She hvgged him happily.

“Thank you son. For standing on your feet. Now, I know you’re a man. I love you.” Mrs Jenny said hvgging him more ti-ghtly.

“Thanks mum. I missed Cindy…so much. My heart ache seeing her cry.” He said with a crack voice.

“Don’t worry. She’s all yours.” MMrs Sophia said as they pu-ll-ed back from the hvg.

“This is craziness bro. How can you marry a lady carrying another man’s pregnancy. Not just any man but my boss child?” Dammie shouted.

“Shut up.!” Mrs Jenny said.

“You talk, think and act like a fool and a child. Do you know what it takes to cancel a wedding that almost everyone has prepared for? Do you know the shame and the embarras-sment that’s gonna caused us? Come on st©p this your madness and support your brother, you spoilt br@t.” Mrs Jenny spat angrily.

“Mum…is that what you gonna say?”

“Of course.”

“Okay. Fine!” Dammie said and walked out of the living room.

“Sorry baby…your decision is the best. You know I cannot mislead you, right?”

“Yes mum. Thank you.” Emmanuel said and hvgged his mum.

****

“You’ve been silent for some minutes now, what does the result says?” Cindy asked for the uptenth time today.

Samuel has been silent ever since he was throu-gh with the test.

He sighed and moved closer to her. He hvgged her.

“Tell me what’s in the paper you’re holding?” Cindy asked on his shoulder.

“Cindy….you are….it’s true you are pregnant.” Samuel said

Cindy heart st©pped beating an pushed Samuel off her b©dy with a teary and worried face.

“What do you mean pregnant?” She questioned as she snatched the paper away from him and re-ad it herself.

Tears were dropping nonst©p from her eyes. Samuel couldn’t just do a thing as he just watched her.

He could feel her pain.

“Nooo!” Cindy screamed loudly.

“Cindy…” Samuel quic-kly hvgged her.

“Let me be. Leave me alone.!” She wailed and sat on the ba-re floor crying profusely.
