CHAPTER 4&5

Juliet gasped shockingly and Lovelyn did the same as she rushed in throu-ghthe other door.
Ben couldn’t hide his shock too as he watched the water dripping down Romeo’s face.
Romeo’s eyes are closed though.
“What have you done!” Ben said, facing Juliet.
Juliet made to talk but her forward hands pressed on the bottle again.
The water w-etRomeo’s face for the second time and she quickly threw down the bottle.
As the bottle landed down with it’s base, the water splashed out again, we-tting Romeo’s trousers too.
“What the Fu-ck, are you insane!” Rhonda yelled angrily.
“Boss..” Ben said slowly but fearfully.
“I’m so sorry it wasn’t intentional” Juliet begged fast.
Romeo slowly opened his eyes and his angry furious eyes met Juliet’s.
“Dear ground, please open up and swallow me” Juliet thought fearfully.
“Who the Fu-ck are you to do this to me!, Who the hell!” Romeo demanded ragingly.
“I’m…I’m…
“She’s the one who submitted the letter yesterday” Lovelyn cut in and Romeo smi-rked.
“This senseless fool?, Look what she did to me?, Just look” he replied.
Juliet kept her head bowed, unable to look up.
“I’m sorry sir, please pardon me” Lovelyn pleaded.
Romeo dashed into his office and Ben rushed after him .
“Get me another suit from the car” he ordered and Ben left immediately.
“Even boss himself confirmed that you’re a senseless fool, I wasn’t wrong about you, you’re ugly and your br-ain is unattrac-tive too, what a waste” Rhonda said to Juliet’s face and Juliet bit the side of her mouth, not knowing what to say.
Lovelyn came to her rescue by p-ulling her away from Rhonda.
“He’s always angry even when nothing triggers it, now that you’ve done it, I don’t know what might happen” she said and Juliet became more scared.
“Am I in trouble now?, What do I do?, I didn’t intentionally pour the water” she said.
“I know”
“Then?” Juliet said.
“Just wait” Lovelyn replied and Ben walked past them, going into Romeo’s office with a new suit.
“What are you still doing here?, Won’t you leave already?, Leave!” Rhonda thun-dered harshly.
“Rhonda calm the Fu-ck down” Lovelyn snapped.
“Are you still telling me to calm down?, Boss might dismiss you”
“It’s my headache, not yours so shush!” Lovelyn replied and Ben came out of the office.
“You can go in” he said.
“Me?” Juliet replied surprisingly.
She wasn’t expecting to be called in, not after what she just did.
“Go in already” Lovelyn pushed her to the door.
“He won’t kill me right?, He doesn’t have a gun right?” Juliet asked fearfully.
Lovelyn opened the door and pushed her in.
Finding herself all alone in front of the angry bird made a whole new wave of fear take over her.
Romeo is in another suit already, not looking up, his eyes are on the laptop in front of him, he’s typing once in a while and when he does, his fingers moves at the speed of light on the bu-ttons.
She kept standing and for close to thirty minutes, she’s standing in front of him, her heels worsened everything, making her foot hurt a lot.
Her ankle is on fire as she kept shifting from one foot to another, taking turns to rest her weight on them.
After forty minutes of making her stand, he finally looked up and she quickly faced the ground.
“You wrote this letter?” He asked, holding her letter.
“Yes sir” she replied quickly.
“And you’re the owner of these credentials” he said.
“Yes sir” she replied again.
He went mute for a while and she stylishly looked up
He has returned working on his laptop.
“You’re accepted” he said without looking up and her eyes wide-ned
“Huh?”
“I don’t say things twice, now get out” he replied and looked up, giving her an unfriendly look.
She quickly rushed out of the office and Ben went in.
Lovelyn spranged up from her chair.
“Did he interview you?, How was it?”
“He didn’t interview me but….” Juliet said.
“He obviously told you to get out of this company” Rhonda replied from her desk.
“He said I’m accepted” Juliet replied and Lovelyn’s eyes became bigger.
“What did you just say?”
The telephone rang immediately, interrupting them.
Rhonda picked the call from Romeo and when she dropped it, she rolled eyes at Juliet.
“Seems you really got accepted, loser” she said.
“OMG it’s true!” Lovelyn hu-gged her .
Juliet hu-gged her back and when they broke it, Lovelyn took her to the third available desk and got her a laptop .
“Your desk” she smiled.
“Wow!, I own this laptop too?” Juliet said, touching it.
“Don’t get the wrong idea, it’s for official use only, if you’re caught using it for something else, you’re gone” Lovelyn whispered.
“Now shall we get down to business?” Rhonda said and they both faced her.
She has lots of books in her hands, piled up.
Pushing them out of the way with her body, she dropped the books on Juliet’s desk, it made a loud thud.
They’re all Romeo’s novels.
“What’s going on?” Lovelyn asked.
“Boss ordered that she should summarize what each of this novels entails before the end of today” Rhonda said.
“What!” Juliet said, looking at the pile of novels.
“This will be over thirty, how can she possibly…” Lovelyn said.
“I knew boss won’t accept her that easily, if you fail to finish up, you’ll be dismissed” Rhonda smiled and left for her desk.
“Let’s get started, we’ll do it together” Lovelyn said and a mail entered her laptop.
She rushed to it and saw it’s from Romeo.
*FINISH ARRANGING THE PARAGRAPHS RIGHT NOW*
She inhaled after reading it and faced Juliet.
“I’m sorry I won’t be able to help” she said and Juliet smiled.
“I’ll do it, trust me” .
She settled down on her desk and picked the first novel, titled BLOOD IN THE MUD
“Fifty pages?” She gasped and quickly got to work, there are a total of thirty one novels and it’s 10am already, it’s sure she’s gonna be dying today.
She started summarizing on the laptop and thankfully, she’s a fast reader, she summarizes as she read.
She never looked up for once, not until a guy came in.
If the pictures she saw online are for real, then this is Justus, Romeo’s stepbrother.
“Is Romeo in?” He asked and Lovelyn stood.
“Yes sir” she replied politely.
“But he has ordered us never to let you into his office anymore” Rhonda added.
“I know, he’s still a kid so I wasn’t expecting less” Justus replied and made to go in but Romeo came out immediately.
“Bro” Justus smiled.
“Why are you here?” Romeo asked, checking the time.
“Father is sick, he was admitted in the hospital last night” Justus replied.
“So?” Romeo replied.
“What!” Justus said.
“If you have nothing else to say, then leave” Romeo said and started walking out.
Justus rushed to him, holding him back.
“What’s wrong with you Romeo!, What has anyone in the family ever done to you!, Stop behaving like this!”
“Let go of my hand” Romeo said warningly.
“Romeo…ok please, let’s just go see him, he misses you and has been calling your name, he wants to see you just once in his sickbed, please” Justus begged and Romeo remained blank as he took his hand from Justus for-cefully.
He walked away without saying anything and Justus stood in confusion, not knowing what to do anymore.
Juliet felt pity for him immediately.
Now he knows that all the rumours that Romeo hates his family weren’t lies, he just Fu-cking showed it.
Justus left quietly and Lovelyn inhaled.
“Boss is always too harsh” she said.
“The harshness is what I like about him, makes him look more hot” Rhonda said.
Juliet returned to work.
This is surely not the time to chitchat, her internship is on the sharp edge of a cliff and if she fails to do this right, it’ll fall off.
*******
7PM, B4 SKY LOUNGE**
Romeo is the only one in, he came here after he finished his shoot for today.
Tommorow he’s gonna be on set for long so he nee-ds adequate rest.
He could ba-rely call this rest anyways because right now, he’s putting finishing touches to his next project.
His new book that’ll be out next month.
He’s busy sipping wine as he worked on his tab.
Michelin came in and when he saw him sitting already, she smiled.
“Frowny doll” she said, sitting on the couch beside him.
“What’s up?” He replied without looking at her.
He picked his wine cu-p and drank from it again but immediately he dropped it, Michelin picked it and drank, placing her li-ps on the same sp-ot he drank from.
He looked at her and she smiled before dropping the cu-p.
“I won a big contract today, I’m becoming richer soon” she said.
“Congratulations” he replied.
“When exactly is your new book coming out next month?” She asked.
“Check the group chat” he replied.
“What’s the title again?, MEET ME?” she said and he looked up.
“MELT ME, don’t say it if you don’t know it” he said and she smiled then quickly held his face.
“I knowingly said it wrongly so you could look up, and it worked” she said, ru-b-bing his earlobes.
“You’re doing it again” he said.
“Why does it seem like you’re always mean to me?” She said, still holding his face.
“Let go of my face Michelin” he said and immediately her eyes caught his li-ps which are still w-etwith the wine, she went for it.
She was about to taste his li-ps when Naomi came in, she quickly let go of his face.
“Cindy!” She stood, pretending like nothing happened.
Romeo returned to his tab.
“The arson case, How was it?” Michelin asked.
“I lost” Naomi replied sadly and her phone rang in her bag.
“Why aren’t you picking?” Michelin asked.
“It’s dad, he wants to say trash to me, the trashes he says anytime I lose a case” Naomi replied.
“That shitty dad of yours” Romeo said and Naomi smiled, walking to him.
“Give me a hu-g, console me” she said childishly.
Romeo looked up and she wide-ned her arms.
“Seriously?” He said.
“Of course” she pouted.
He stood reluctantly and Naomi smiled but instead of hu-gging her, he took her hand and dropped two wraps of mint in her palm.
“This helps” he said and sat.
Michelin laughed.
“I hate you” Naomi rolled eyes and went to the cellar to get drinks.
“Heard chairman Thiago is sick” she said as she got a bottle of wine.
“It’s none of my business” Romeo replied and Naomi quickly turned to him.
“Seriously?, He’s your father!”
“I’ll just leave if you’re gonna keep talking about him” Romeo replied.
“I don’t know what he did to you, but I don’t support you treating him this way” Naomi kept talking.
Michelin went to pour the drinks.
“Cindy” Romeo said, looking at Naomi in the eye.
“I Fu-cking hate you!” she said seriously and threw the mint at him before storming into the cinema where she sat all by herself.
Baby came in with a wounded face and Michelin gasped.
“Did you sleep with a gangster’s girlfriend this time around?” She said as he fell on the couch.
“Why is your face always a mess?, You get wounded 362 days in a year” Romeo said.
“The crazy girl told me she’s single and this afternoon, we went out together for fun, she suggested we get a room and while Fu-cking her, her boyfriend barged in, he’s a Fu-cking bastard, a thu-g, I was beaten till my di-ck went to the afterlife” he said.
“You deserve it” Michelin said, handing him a cu-p of wine which he took.
“Where’s my tough lady?” He asked as his phone rang
“She’s in the cinema” Michelin replied and Baby stood, picking his call as he walked into the cinema.
“Hi sweetheart!” He said on phone.
“Nutjob” Michelin muttered.

JEWELL BOOKS, 9PM**
Romeo forgot a note he nee-ds tonight in the office so he went back for it.
The company is silent as everyone went home already but surprisingly when he got to his floor, he met Juliet sleeping with her head on the table.
She hasn’t even worked on half of the books.
He turned her laptop to himself and went throu-ghthe summaries she made.
Her mode of writing is rare and that’s what interests him when he saw her letter earlier.
She made just five summaries out of thirty one.
He went into his office and got the note he came for, the sound of the closing door when he was coming out made her sprang up.
“Boss!, I’m sorry I slept off!, I was….
“Leave” he said and without looking at her again, he left.
Juliet fell on her chair tiredly.
Lovelyn was helping her out before her head started splitting with headache so she had to leave.
The five summaries she made almost made her die.
Summaries can be ha-rd.
Romeo’s books aren’t easy to predict so she had to read throu-ghthe five before she was able to summarize.
“If I last one week here without dying, then my soul is a thu-g” she said to herself and got her bag after shutting down her laptop.
She left the company but on getting out of it, Justus came down from his car.
“Romeo is not here?” He asked.
“No he left earlier” she replied and he inhaled .
“That heartless soul” he mumbled before facing her again.
“You’re new here” he said.
“Yes, an intern” she replied.
“I didn’t notice you earlier” he said and she smiled slightly.
“Why are you just going home?” He asked.
“Boss gave me a lot of work to do”
“Romeo is too problematic, it’s too dangerous for ladies to keep late nights, what’s your address?” He asked.
She told him and he opened the front door of his car.
“Hop in, I’ll give you a ride” he said and her eyes brightened.
She dare not decline because to find a taxi, she’ll have to trek down the road and trekking is the last thing she wants to do right now because of her hurting leg.
She got in and he drove her home.
She got down in front of her house and he winded down.
“I hope you’ll be able to cope with your internship un-der him” he said.
“I hope” she replied and he smiled before driving away.
Juliet took off her heels before going in.
She met Gina by the door and fell on her.
“Mum this is my empty soulless body, my soul left my body since morning” she said.
Gina let her go and she fell on the ground.
“I just want to die!!!, My first day was terrible!, Horrible!, Messy!, Romeo Spencer was once a stone before he was transformed into a human, he’s so scary!” she said, still sitting on the ground.
Merritt came out of the room, laughing loudly.
“We told you” she said.
“Witch” Juliet stood.
“Quit before it gets worse” Gina whispered.
“And who’s that stunning man who drove you home?, Wait… Justus!” Merritt said.
“I just hate everyone now, all I can see right now is that gr@$$hopper and his wicked face” Juliet said.
“Gr@$$hopper?” Gina said.
“My boss” Juliet replied and Merritt saw her swollen red ankles.
“Jeez!, Sorry friend” she said and Juliet rolled eyes as she made to get her phone but it’s not in her bag.
“Fu-ck!, I must have forgotten it in the office or in Justus car” she said , stuffing her hand in her hair.
A knock sounded on the door and Gina checked the time.
“10:30?, Who’s that!” She asked but no answer came.
“Who’s knocking?” Merritt asked too but still, no answer.
There’s no intercom to check who it is.
Juliet made to go open the door but Gina held her back.
“Didn’t you read the murder case news last night?, This is exactly how the murderer knocked without talking” she whispered and Juliet’s eyes wide-ned.
“Get me the stick from the kitchen” Gina said and Merritt quickly got it.
Gina took it and tiptoed to the door, Juliet and Merritt followed behind
The knock came again and Gina opened the door at once.
“Mr Justus!” Juliet gasped but before Gina could stop, she already hit the stick ha-rd on his head.
“Mum!” Juliet screamed.
Justus eyes turned and he went down unconsciously.
