I was with Richa-rd but wasn’t happy, I was just there to have a company and nothing more.

All I wanted was Michael and nob©dy else, we drank and gisted which I was sure he thought that i enjoyed, he lied because I was busy thinking about Michael.

We exchange contact and dep@rted after some hours, I went straight to the room where we (me and Michael) were checked in but met Michael crying.
I wanted to ignore him but couldn’t bear the gr0@nof a man like Michael.

“What’s is?” I asked as i knelt down before him.

“Sophia”he called and swallowed ha-rd .

“Yes baby”I responded with almost tears.

“What have I done to you to deserve this blackmailing and inhuman treatment?”he asked.

Inhuman treatment?
How? Did I maltreated Michael?
No, I only went for what I wanted that’s all.

“How?”I asked politely.

“Who is that man I were standing with outside?”he asked and my heart started beating ra-pidly. Gosh! Is like he saw us, yes this is what I wanted.
I want him to be jealous and it seems I have gotten him.

“He is JUST A FRIEND”I answered plainly looking to see his reactions but he proved me wrong.

“That’s nice, how long do you know him?”he asked again.

“Not long but i have nothing in mind for him, just a mere friend that’s all?”I explained and he smiled mischievously still shading tears.

“Okay, now…..”he said and paused.

“Is that’s why u are crying or what?”I asked him but he sm-irked fumbling his palms like he want to punch me.

“What did you told Sonia?”he asked and i chuckled.

Gosh! What am I gonna answer him now?

“I just toldher that you were busy then” I lied and he smiled mischievously.

“Just that?”he asked as if he wasn’t satisfied with my answer.

ShouldI believe that what she is saying is true?

Sophia is devil and can do anything to end my relationsh!pwith Sonia.

I stood up from the be-d I was sitting and picked my phone that was ringing.

It’s Sonia calling me, I breathed ha-rd as i picked the call and noticed that she was crying on the phone.

Gosh! I have hurted an innocent soul.

“Am sorry baby, I am not denying anything you said because it’s true”I said after some moment of silent.

“So it’s true?”she said with a crack voice.

“Yes but…..”i tried explaining but she shunned me.

You think I don’t have a heart or i don’t feel pain?
U planned this baby!”she accused me but i was a bit relaxed that she called me ‘baby’.

I was dying as i la-id on my be-d shaking in emotional fear.
Yes, it’s emotional fear because I have suffered in the name of loving pla-yers who appears to be responsible.

ra-phael did his own and failed, now Michael of all my dream, right from my childhood friend, upon all the trust I have on him, he failed too.

I have to be sure because I can’t just conclude on mere hearing.

I dialled his number and he picked when it was almost ended in ringing.

“Am sorry for everything, I can accept the blame”he said from the other end of the phone.

“So it’s true?”I asked him with tears.

“Yes but…”he tried talking trashes but i cut him off.

“St©p it!! So you did it right?! Let me tell you, you don’t have any excuse to give because you planned it even before going”I said with anger.

“Okay, can we talk?”he said so confused I guessed because he can’t ask for a talk while we were talking alre-ady.

“Sorry dear, I caused it all, I am the one that confessed my love to you even when I know that u never loved me”I cried bitterly.

“Baby st©p! You are killing me here and u know that.
I accept this blame for the sake of peace not because i planned it as u accused me. Can you hear me out plea-se”he defended from the other end of the phone.

“Hear you out?
You said hear you out? Will hearing going to determine that u are not there because of Sophia or what?”I blasted.

“Fine! What do you want me to do to prove my innocent?”he asked and i breathed ha-rd .

I know that Michael never prepared for that but i am hurt and pla-yed.

“I want you home tomorrow, whether the conference or whatever u called it ends or not”I ordered and silent ensured.

“Doing it or not?” I asked and he started stammering.

“I….but it is….remaining Just….just two days…to…to… finish it nah”he protested.

“That’s none of my concern pls….
Do what I asked you if you still have any feelings for me”I demanded.

“Okay, deal”he said with confidence.

I never knew that Michael will adhere to my demand but it felt so good to me as he agreed to come back.

Michael c@m£ back the second day as he promised but was baffled to meet the greatest surprise of his life.
He never believed it, he was just like a sacrificial goat as he stepped in the compound.
I noticed it and smiled as he kept his mouth wi-de open.

Sophia never believed that i meant it when I told her that i am leaving the h0tel to Enugu, she thought that i was joking till she saw me out with my belongings.

I reached Enugu state very early because i took flight to avoid further problem with Sonia.

I met my greatest surprise of my life when I got home, behold Sonia’s parents were there in the sitting room.
Sonia hvgged me so ti-ght as i stepped in and that was when I lifted my eyes up to behold Mr and Mrs Nduka (Sonia’s parents), I I shyly withdrew myself from Sonia.

“Good morning dad and mum”I greeted them with de-ep smile, my heartbeat was regulating as seconds pas-ses.

“C’mon son, hvg me”the father said and I sluggishly did because I was yet to un-derstand what their mission was all about.

“You are looking so good and more mature now dear”mum said as we dis£ngaged from the hvg.

“Thank you mum, I have missed you all”i said now gaining some confidence and they all smiled.

Sonia was still clutching on my shoulder like she saw her long life husband again.

“Guess what baby?”Sonia said almost in whisper.

“Hmmm, tell me”I said and she sniffed.

“Okay, it’s a surprise, cover your eyes and follow me”she demanded and i smiled as i notice that everyone were just smiling at the scene we were creating in that sitting room.

“Okay, I have done that alre-ady”I said covering my eyes with my two palms.

“Follow me and be careful”she said and held my cloth as she took the lead to the be-droom.

“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Many more years to you!!”they sang chorusily.

Gosh! Opening my eyes I noticed that the be-droom was well decorated with many fancy flowers.
The cake look so expensive and attrac-tive, I couldn’t believe what I saw.
I didn’t knew where to start but i hvgged Sonia so ti-ght not minding the pres£nce of her parents . I felt a drop of water on my back as we were still ti-ght on the hvg, after the hvg I realize that she was crying.

“We will be in the sitting room waiting for guys”the mother said and they turned to leave when Sonia paused them with her statement.

“They have said yes baby!”she said but i didn’t caught her statement.

“What?!”I asked looking so confused.

“Yeah, we did, all we nee-d is our daughter’s happiness and wish, be careful with her heart pls”the father added and they left the scene.

I couldn’t believed my ear, I drew closer to Sonia and we locked up ourl-ips

Episode 39

I never expected it but i wasn’t surprised because i heard everything they said on phone, even his behaviour that night describe-d everything to me.

The next morning, before I could woke up he was alre-ady in the bathroom taking his bath.

“Where are you going this one you are so agitated?”I asked as i rolled to the edge of the be-d he was sitting.

“Am leaving”he said.

“Leaving?
Leaving to where?”I asked with much disbelieve.

“Is here my house or what?
Am going back to Enugu”he said plainly.

I smiled and la-id back my head on the pillow, tears streamed down from my eyes.
I wanted to hide my feelings from him but i couldn’t, I later managed to wish him goodbye.

“Am still sorry for all the pain I have caused u.
Just forgive me pls, safe journey pls”I said with tears but he didn’t paid any attention to me.
He just left the room dragging his belonging downstairs.
I saw him throu-gh the window as he entered a taxi and left the h0tel.

I left Abuja the next day after meeting with Richa-rd whom I refused to tell what is bothering me.
“Hope you won’t regret this baby?”Richa-rd said after I turned him down on his proposal.

“Excuse me?
Am not here to look for husband dear, we are just friends and i don’t want it to lead to another thing other than this.

“I think I have seen my…..” he tried to talk but i interupted him because i knew where he was heading to.

Richa-rd must be fooling himself thinking that i will ever love again.

I never disclosed what happened to my dad, all i wanted was to see Michael one day saying that he nee-d me.

My parents thought that the conference ended well in Abuja between me and Michael.
They were right but my heart didn’t c@m£ back with me, Michael left with it.

The sickness was becoming more serious that my parents were scared. I stayed indoor for more than two days without the sight of Sunlight.
When the persuasion bec@m£ too much to me, I agreed to follow them to the hospital.

“Congratulations! she is two months gone!”the doctor announced.
