SIXTEEN YEARS LATER
16 years later
MAX POV
“Good morning boss, am so glad you are back from your trip”My secretary greeted as she walked into my office with me.
“What’s wrong, did some thing happen while I left “I asked as I sat in the CEO seat.
“A lot has happened, a lot of message have been left for you”she replied quic-kly
“Start relaying them, I don’t want to re-ad it myself “I said
“Well then,I will start with the business p@rt, Mr Frederick has just pu-ll out his shares and what’s worst he is asking others to do the same”
“Get new investors then, I never really liked that man and if he leaves, good riddance”I said
“Okay sir, you have to an appointment with Brianna, the owner of Soul interior designs ,she wants to talk to you about the deal you will be ma-king with their company”She said
“I also have to talk to her too, make the appointment today”I said
“And lastly on the business matters, you have been nominated as the best entrepreneur for the year, the award ceremony will be taking place in the address on this invitation card”She said
“Just put it some where, when am throu-gh with the rest, you can tell me more about it”I said
“Now on the personal matter, your wife c@m£ here three days ago and cause a scene”She said and judging from her expression,I could tell that she didn’t like it
“Tell me more about it”I said
“Well she c@m£ here asking for Joanne?”
“Who is Joanne?”
“My as-sistant secretary” Daniella replied
“Why did she attack her?”I asked
“She thinks you are having an affair with her?” She said and i sighed.
This is so typical of Rose, any time I get close to some one,she thinks am d@t!ngthem, she had accused a lot of my female workers saying that they were my lover but she has never attacked any one of them, she attacking Joanne is a new discovery for me,I thought softly
“What happen to Joanne then!”
“The poor thing quit and am having trouble doing the whole job myself and …..”I said
“Hire some one else”I interrupted her
“And also your mom called, she wants to know when you will go back home to visit them”she continued
“You can as well tell them that am never going back and they should st©p asking me to come home”
“Okay sir and then lastly, your wife left with Daniel”on hearing that,I st©pped what ever I was doing to stare at her
“What do you mean by she left with Daniel”I asked
“On the day she attacked Joanne, she asked me to book her a flight home, I thought she told you about it that is why I never told you”she called
“As you can see she never told me about it”I said
“Rose is really getting on my nerves, why would she leave with my son and tell me nothing about it”I said hitting the table in anger.
“Am sorry sir, I should have told you about it but I…….”
“Your apology won’t do a thing, just book me a ticket, I have to go to them”I said as I took out my phone to cancel any other appointment I have.
ANDREA POV
The sound of the alarm blaring woke me up,I got out of be-d and stretched a bit and turned off the annoying alarm.
I went to the bath room and got dressed for work.
Being an interior designer isn’t some thing that is easy but I like it and that is why I chose it as my career and though the pay isn’t that much, it’s still manageable,I thought as I finished tou-ching up my make up.
I left the room and went downstairs, the flat I own isn’t some thing that flashy but it’s what suit my taste and it’s the first place I bought with my first salary.
“Good morning darling”My mom greeted as she stood in the kitchen cooking up our break fast.
I couldn’t answer because my phone rang and quic-kly I picked
📱”Hello!”
📱”Are you on way yet,we have a issue here?” Cathy a co worker of mine at soul interior designs said
📱”What happen”I asked as I kept all my stuff in my bag
📱” Well the painter you hired isnt coming and no matter how we try to reach him, he just wouldn’t pick”Cathy said
📱”Then get a new painter, you know that the painting must be done before we can start on any other job, so get a new painter”I said
📱”That’s where the problem is, the painters we have called are too busy to come and work for us” she said
📱”This is bad”I said softly
📱”What are we going to do Andrea?”Cathy asked
📱”Just continue with the necessary work, I will get a painter there “I said and switch off the phone
“Work problems?”my mom asked
“Yes, I will have to get to do a painter hunt today and all that aside? Where is Mary?”I asked
“I think she will still be upstairs, she stayed up late,doing that dancing thing”my mom said
“That girl and dancing, I don’t know what to do with her any more”I said
“I think you should leave her to do what she wants”My mom said
“I can accept her wanting to be other things mom but I don’t want her to be a dancer”I said as I went to help my mom in the kitchen
“Is it because it reminds you of her father?”she asked and I st©pped what I was doing to stare at her
“Mom plea-se don’t ever talk about Mary father,I beg you”I said softly
“Fine then I won’t! I will go and get Mary down here”she said leaving the kitchen and for a while I stood mixing the egg and also thinking about what she said.
“It’s been sixteen years, I don’t owe him any explanation”I muttered to my self.
Once I finished serving the omelet, my mom ran down the stairs looking worried
“What’s wrong?”I asked
“It’s Mary”she said stretching a paper to me.
I took it from her and re-ad the content in it,
“By the time you will be re-ading this, I will alre-ady be at ( Move company) , they are having an audition for new talent, I knew that if I told you this in person, you will forbid me to go,so I decided to write you this letter instead, I want become a dancer mom, let me try this out, who knows I might get into the company, I only told you this so you won’t have to be worried,I love and respect you and grand ma but I can’t let go of dancing mom, I really love it and so have decided to pursue my dream”
I finished re-ading the letter and I got so angry, why won’t Mary listen to me about dancing,I thought as I felt my anger building up.
“Mary will get it from me!”I said as I took my bag, heading out of the house.
“Andrea take it easy with your daughter”my mom yelled at me but I wasnt listening to her , the only thing I was thinking about was Mary and the company she went to.
That company belongs to jack and it’s been sixteen years since have seen any one of them.
Have been avoiding them for years now and have managed to do that until today, why did Mary have to go to the audition,I thought as I hailed for a cab.
MARY POV
I stood amongst the crowd waiting for my number to be called.
I feel so nervous, have been dancing all my life and have never been nervous but today I feel as nervous as hell.
“You know all you have to do is go in and show them what you have got, I don’t get nervous when I dance at home but when today am quite nervous, what about you ?” I asked the stranger standing beside me
“Do we know each other?”he asked softly and I moved away
“What a cranky guy”I muttered as I walked amongst the others to be called for the audition.
Just then I heard a lot of murmur coming from the door way.
Could that be Jack Cruise,the owner of this company, if I can get him to see a little bit of my dancing skills, he might just decide to accept me into his company,I thought as I moved among the crowd to take a peek but It wasn’t Jack Cruise, instead it was some guy, a very hand some guy at that,I thought as I joined the crowd to stare at this hand some stranger.
Just who is he? I thought as I kept on gawking at him.

MARY POV
I stood still starring at the hand some stranger who just walked in.
While the other girls took picture of him and tried to talk to him, he didn’t look their way, neither did he act like he saw them..
He was on me but when he got close to me, he st©pped.
He said some thing and i didn’t pay attention to it because I was lost in his beauty.
He frowned and stood starring at me in anger and then he said again.
“Would you mind moving out of the way!” He said it this time and before I could move out of the way, he walked past me hitting my shoulder in the process.
He might be hand some but he had a bad temper, I thought as i left the hall in search of a room where I can do a quic-k rehearsal.
I did find a room and not bothering to on the lights, I put my bag down and turned on the music.
At the count of three, I began to do the dance I had rehearsed for a whole night and unknown to me,I alre-ady had an audience.
The twist and turn were simple but the wriggling were still some thing I couldn’t do properly.
I repla-yed the music and was wriggling my bu-tt to the sound of the music and it was then that I noticed the guy from earlier.
He stood behind me in the dark watching me and feeling shocked, I fell on the floor.
“Why were you lur-k-ing in the shadows?”I yelled at him
“I nee-ded some where to rest before the audition and this place seemed perfect until you walked in and destroyed every thing”he said as he walked towards me.
He had a look of curiosity on his face and that some how made him seem warm, the look he had on his face earlier was one of anger and he some how looked cold.
“Then you should have told me,I would have left immediately, how long have you been there?”I asked as I stood up
“If you are asking how long have been watching well I will say that have been watching from the beginning”he replied
“I can’t believe this!”I muttered as I packed up my stuff.
“You don’t have to leave at my expense, I will leave,your dancing is not that good to watch after all”he said and turned to leave
“And who are you to judge the way I dance, you aren’t Jack and am sure that you svçkat what you do too!”I yelled at him and that made him st©p.
“What did you just say?”he asked softly
“That you svçkat what you do,who are you to judge me when you are nothing your self”I said as I began to head off but he pu-ll-ed my arm and that made me st©p to stare at him
“Did you just talk back at me?”he asked again and I pu-ll-ed freee
“What? Are you one of those spoilt rich br@t who never gets some one to talk to them, well I just did that and you shouldn’t get angry, you should be plea-sed, after all I gave you a taste of your own medicine”I yelled at him
“It’s a pity though, though you are hand some you are rotten to the core”I added and began to walk off but still feeling angry, I ran back to him and stepped on his foot.
He yelped and I use that opportunity to run off.
I was heading to the audition room when I saw my mom.
What is she doing here? I thought as I watched her searching the crowd for me.
quic-kly I ran back to the empty room I had found earlier and I was still surprised to see that guy there.
“What! Are you here to do me more harm?”he asked
“No but plea-se if a lady pas-ses here, tell her you havent seen me okay!”I said as I went to hide behind a pillar Hoping that he would help me.
Still hiding there, I heard some one foot steps and then I heard my mom asking him about me.
“No I haven’t………on the other hand,I think I must have seen her, a girl ran in here looking for a place to hide, she must be the one you are looking for?”he said softly and I closed my eyes in anger.
“How dare him tell on me?”I muttered softly
“Mary!? Mary come out here right now, don’t make me come get you!”she yelled and having no choice ,I walked out my hiding and went towards her.
The guy was still there and he had a knowing look on his face
I was about to explain when she sl@pped my face.
“Don’t you ever do this to me again! Did you know how worried have been Mary?”she yelled at me and before I could do a thing, she pu-ll-ed me out of the room.
I could feel that stranger starring at us as we leave but I didn’t give him a back ward glance and I hoped that I don’t have to see him again, I thought as we walked off.
ANDREA POV
I held onto Mary ti-ghtly, I didn’t want her escaping again and I still felt angry about her leaving the safety net have Hatched around us just to come here.
If some one I knew were to recognise me,I would really hate my self and I don’t want that, I thought as I kept on pu-lling Mary out of move company.
Luckily we made it to my car but Mary St©pped to pu-ll her hand
“Why won’t you let me do what I want mom! I want to dance, can’t you just support me in this?”she asked
“Dancing is not a career Mary, decide to be a doctor, a lawyer or an entrepreneur,I will fully support you but if you decide to become a dancer, I don’t want you dancing Mary and don’t ask me why!”I warned
“You are always like this, you love to keep things hidden, you won’t tell me why you don’t want me to dance, you won’t let me go to the school I want, you keep on hiding things to me, you won’t talk to me about my father, you never tell me any thing mom”she said as formed in her eyes .
Suddenly I felt guilty for having sl@pped her, I never tell her a thing but yet,I want her to do some thing.
“Mary, am sorry but I ……..”
“You are doing what you love mom,why won’t you let me do what I want?”she said and before I could do a thing, she ran into the busy streets and I ran after her.
She turned the opposite street and wanting to get away from me, she ran into the road with out looking and a car almost hit her.
She fell down in shock while the car st©pped over, on seeing this I ran towards them and knelt beside Mary.
“Are you okay?,are you alright?”I asked worriedly and she nodded her head softly
“Is she alright?”the driver who was driving the car asked as he crouched beside us
“She is! Am really sorry for the………”
“Andrea!”on hearing the stranger call my name,I looked up only to see that it was Jack starring at me
“I can’t believe this! It’s you, it’s really you!”he said giving me a smile
“Mary common let’s go”I said taking Mary hand and quic-kly began to walk off
He couldn’t pursue us because he had to take his car away from the streets and that’s a help to me, I thought as I pu-ll-ed Mary towards a the other street, wanting to get a taxi as fast as possible
“Mom, Jack called your name, do you two know each other?”Mary asked
“How do you know him?”I asked
“How do you think? He is the owner of Move company, I wanted to do an audition there but thanks to a special some one, I couldn’t”she said softly
“Am sorry Mary but let’s save this disscussion for later because we have to leave here”I said but luck wasn’t on our side.
We didn’t get to see a taxi and while we kept on standing,I turned only to see Jack walking towards us.
“Oh no!”I muttered
“Oh yes, it’s Jack Cruise and he is coming our way”Mary said excitedly
“Let’s go Mary, plea-se!”I said as I tried to pu-ll her away but we were too late because he called us again.
“Andrea!”he said as he held onto my hand
“I knew it, it’s really you”he said starring down at me and before I could do a thing, he pu-ll-ed me into a hvg.
“Why? Why did you leave with out telling any one, why disappear on all of us like that, I searched every where for you but I couldn’t find you, you have no idea how happy I am to see you again”he said and pu-ll-ed me into a hvg again.
