“Am sorry,” the doctor replied
“Am sorry? Is that all you could say?” Lucas asked as his grip ti-ghten on the doctor’s collar already chocking him
The others saw it and rushed to help the doctor who breath out in relief and rushed out immediately
Lucas walked towards the ward and the nurse made to stop him, but seeing the look on his face the nurse just let him pa-ss
He walked in and uncovered the blue blanket that was used to cover paps, he stared at him as tears escape from his eyes
“Paps, am sorry… Am sorry I couldn’t save you! You have always protected me when I was little even till now you still cared so much about me,” Lucas said In-between sobs
Losing paps seems like losing everything to him, paps is the best father anyone can ask for. He thought Lucas many things he need to know about life and gives him the reason to live again
Even when he was little he never for once treat him bad, even though he is a baron he still cares for others
Lucas sobbed uncontrollably as he hug-ged paps very ti-ght, others couldn’t control it and they joined him in crying

Richa-rd hideout*
“How dare you go against my orders?” Richa-rd yelled at the man he asked to plant the bomb, he actually asked the man to plant the bombs outside but the man went and plant it inside
“Am sorry boss,” the man replied
“Who are you working for,” Richa-rd asked looking dangerously at the man
“You sir,” the man replied again
“I said who are you working for?” Richa-rd yelled, the man flinched in fear
“It’s your father sir, h…he….. He asked me to plant the bombs Inside,” the man stammered
“I sent you on a simple task and you went and do another thing,” Richa-rd asked and grabbed the man by his ne-ck, pinning him to the wall
He struggled to break free but Richa-rd overpowered him, sending punches at him and the man shout out in pain
“It was just a simple mission, and now what? You went and blast everything,” Richa-rd shouted still punching his face
He’s not worried that he planted the bomb at the wrong place, his only problem was that Lucas saw him and the man even take others from his father and not him
He succeeded in chocking the man to death and ordered his guards to dispose his body

The Smith mansion* next day*
“Where is Lucas,” Mrs. Hilary asked as they sit in the dining ready to eat lunch
They are back from the hospital, paps will be buried the following day, ever since they came back Lucas refuse to talk to anyone
Even when Jason tried but it still didn’t work, Steve even tried to joke with him but he picked offense immediately and send him out
He has been in his room all alone, if anyone goes near his door he will send the person out
“He’s upstairs,” Steve replied
“Sandra go call your brother,” Mrs. Hillary said
“Am sorry mum, but I can’t go near his door, he nearly strangled a maid in the morning for knocking on his door,” Sandra replied slowly and Mrs. Hillary signed
She knows it will not be easy for him, so she decided to go call him herself
“I will go myself,” she said and Jason stood up also
“Are you done eating,” Mrs. Hillary asked
“Nope,” he replied as he wiped his mouth
“Then where are you going,” Mrs. Hillary asked
“I need to follow you, Lucas has gone crazy,” Jason replied and everyone looked at him immediately
“Jason!!” Mrs. Hillary called shocked, she can’t believe Jason will regard Lucas like that
“Am serious mum, you need to see what he did to that maid,” Jason added
“Can’t believe you are saying this, he just lost a loved one and here you are saying nonsense, am disappointed,” Mrs. Hillary scolded him and left

She went to Lucas’s door and knocked gently on it, but there was no reply, she waited for some seconds before knocking again but there was still no reply
She slowly pushed the door open and walked into the room slowly, she looked around the room and saw Lucas sobbing in a Corner, tears build up in her eyes immediately and she rushed and hug-ged him
Seeing that it was Mrs. Hillary Lucas opened up and hug-ged her ti-ght
“It hurts, he said he will never live with me, he promised,” Lucas sobbed
“Shh, everything is gonna be alright, OK!” Mrs. Hillary a-ssured him also crying
“He promised, he said he will never live me no matter what, and now his…..his gone,” he cried and more tears streamed down his cheeks
“Shh, his seeing you now and there is only one thing he wants you to do for him,” Mrs. Hillary said as Lucas finally broke the huge and looked up to her
“Always be strong, that’s what he wants you to do for him, you have to be strong for him OK!” She said while crying with him
“It hurts,” Lucas said
“I no, but we are in this together,” she a-ssured him and she cleans the tears on his face she smiled at him but he didn’t return the smiles

At the dining*
“What’s taking her so long,” Jason asked worriedly
“Calm down man, this will be the 10th time you will be checking the stairs,” Steve said to Jason who was still looking upstairs
“Am just worried,” Jason replied
“Mum is not a kid anymore, so stop being overprotective,” Sandra said
“I no, is just……..” The rest was stuck in his mouth as his mum and Lucas steps downstairs
Lucas just walked straight to his sit without sparing anyone a glance, Mrs. Hillary smiled as she watched him eat
They all pity him, he has lost weight and he has a dark circle around his eyes, no one dares to talk to him, the dinning was becoming boring until Steve speak up
“Any news about the culprit,” Steve asked no one in particular
“Not yet, but they are still investigating,” Mr. Smith replied
“So what’s the plan now,” Jason said looking from one person to another
“That will be after the burial,” Mr. Smith replied
Lucas who has been silent since looked up at them, he slowly looked down and continue picking on his food
“Why do we have to wait,” Sandra asked looking at her father
“We need to pay our last respect to the dead, then after that, we can continue any other thing,” Mr. Smith replied
“What if the cops didn’t find the culprit?” Steve asked
“It’s Richard,” Lucas spoke up for the first time
Their eyes widen as they looked at him in surprised
“Are you sure, let it not be that you are accusing him wrongly,” Mr. Smith asked to be sure of what he was doing before taking action
“I saw him,” Lucas added
“Richa-rd is a devil, can’t believe he will do that,” Jason replied
A guard pa-ss by and looked at them suspiciously, Lucas cut him staring at them, and instantly now that something was off about him
He got up and went to the guard, the guard saw him coming and made to walk away but Lucas was fast enough to catch up with him
“So it’s you,” Lucas asked
“Sir,” the guard called out, trying to sound innocent
“You are the spy here and I will treat you just as they treat spies,” Lucas replied and called the other guards
“Sir am not a spy,” the guard tried to explain
“Get me a knife,” he ordered and another guard rushed in immediately, then return with the knife
“Here is it sir,” the guard said
Seeing the look on Lucas’s face the guard tried to run but the other guards cached him un-der Lucas’s orders
“They sent you to spy on us and you accepted,” Lucas said as he moved closer to them
“Please spare my life, please… I didn’t mean to do it I was………
“Silence!!!” He yelled making the guards flinch in fear, they have never seen this part of him before
“How dare you plead for mercy, because of you my paps died and now what… Pin him down and spread his hands apart,” He ordered, even his voice alone has was powerful
It was as if someone else was speaking throu-ghhim, even Mrs. Sophia was afraid of this present Lucas, she wondered where the sweet and playful Lucas went
Lucas chopped off nine fingers of the man with the Knife, everyone stared in horror. They didn’t believe Lucas could do that, but he has gone far than anyone can imagine, his spirit is shouting for revenge
“Tell Richa-rd that the Battle has begun, tell him that Lucas is coming for him, now go” Lucas shouted and the guard runs out with his bleeding hands
“Holy Molly, Lucas what was…… Steve’s words suddenly stocked in his mouth as Lucas turned and face them
“You got a problem with that,” he asked, his eyeballs had already turned red making Steve swallow nothing and shook his head negatively
“Good, cos this is just the beginning, I will never rest until Richards’s head is served on a plate,” He added and left
